Email - leave messages on server - HD2 General

Is it just me or device deletes messages from server after send, receive?

You have to edit the mail account and tick that you want the messages to stay on the server. You will not be asked when creating the account...

Can you please tell me where is this option?
I have searched in manual settings, even after creating account, but I don't find it.
I know there was an option for this on my previous, wm6.1 phone, but here on hd2 on wm6.5 i can't find it...I suppose I need to search for it in outlook settings..but I don't find accout settings there...

Ok. I have the Danish version, so the names might be slightly different.
Edit your account -> Schedule for send/receive -> advanced -> here it is.

Thanks...10 characters

Np, did it work?

No...
I go to email tab...I press edit accout...then I need to select account...I select it...and then I have the same thing like when you add new account...and I can change manual settings...I don't find any advanced options...

Go to Inbox, then Menu -> Tools -> Options

As soon as you choose the account you will edit you get 3 choices, right? Then choose the one with send/receive. Then you can choose schedule and how old the messages are allowed to be. In the bottom there is an advanced link...

How can I delete a mail account

I've successfully set up a couple of pop3 accounts on my XDA Exec, but I let the name of the 1st one default to POP3, and now I can't change it - that option is greyed out when you go through the account options to reconfigure. I can find no way of deleting it elsewhere. Can anyone tell me how to rename or delete the account?
Thanks
When in options select the account as you would if were trying to edit. Select "Fn + Space" you'll get a delete menu
Many thanks jah, totally sorted!

Outlook Emails Deleting

Can someone tell me how to delete an Outlook email message on my handheld (mogul) without having it delete the same message on the exchange server? My blackberry would prompt me to delete on handheld, or both, which was an option I would like to have. Thanks

When you configure an Outlook or Email account on your phone there is a setting by the end of the configuration that specifies if you want to delete the message from the server or to leave it intact.
You can edit these settings by going into options on the main menu of your messaging screen. Edit your email account. Go through the settings and when you get to the screen with the [Automatic: Send/Receive] [Download Messages]. There is a link at the bottom saying Advanced Settings, click on it. Whithin this menu there is a scroll down option that allows you to either delete the message off the server or to keep it on the server. chose the one you want. Then save your setup.

Thanks for your reply Carlos. The options that you mentioned are available for my POP3 email account settings, but are not available when I enter the options for my Outlook email account. Thanks

Hmm my last gues would be that when you go into the outlook settings on your phone chose only to download the header or a small portion of the email that way it keeps the orginal / full message on the server. That is weird because I delete my email from outlook on my phone and it doesnt delete it from the server unless i go into outlook on my comp and once i delete it from there it will delete it from my phone once I sync.
Why not use IMAP?
I have found IMAP works a lot better then POP or any other feature. It's like a mirror image of looking at your email. Now with google supporting IMAP it's a nice token.

That's right, but with imap account you have to select too in: "option -> stockage [TAB] -> emptied delete folder: immediately".
Otherwise, messages will not be deleted from your computer.
It appears to me that if you are using exchange activesync, then you get exactly what is on the exchange server in the inbox.
I have set up some folders to help keep my PDA inbox uncluttered.

Can't delete Outlook E-mail account!

Hey guys,
I'm running a miri's cooked rom and have accidentally setup a bad email account with Outlook that I just can't delete!
When I go to Settings -> Outlook -> Email, I have 3 accounts listed there. 2 that I have setup correctly and and "Outlook E-mail" right up the top.
When I select it and choose Menu -> Delete, it's greyed out and I can't delete it!
When I try to alter the account settings and leave everything blank, it won't let me hit "Done" unless there's an entry in there.

Sorry, I should have been more clear. I meant the email program (which I referred to as outlook) on the HD2, go to your inbox and then go to the menu option.. and so on.

It was a little different on my HD2:
start
email
select your account you want to change
menu
scroll and select tools
options
tap account you want to change
click next on edit server setting screen
click next on user information screen
pick e-mail (mine shows contacts, calendar, and e-mail)
click settings
tap download size settings
select entire message from drop down
done
I use gmail trough exchange to sync my email, calendar, and contacts, that may be why mine is different.
OMG, thank you so much.
Damn they made that difficult! Thanks for the help!!

E-Mail Settings -- How Do I leave messages on server?

My TP2 e-mail settings allow me to leave the message on the server (POP3) when I delete them from the phone. However, my HD2 doesn't have such a setting as far as I can see. Anyone know how to do this? I also posted this question in the T-Mo support forum, but haven't heard anything.... This is very important to me, and if indeed there is no such setting on the HD2, I will return the phone.
This is for pop3 or imap but don't know how it is for exhange server etc.
Inbox>
menu>tools>options....
then select the account you want to "edit"
then select edit account setup>next>next>next>next>next
how ever many "next" it takes to get to Automatic Send/Receive and on bottom of the screen is "Advanced Settings"
that is where the option you are looking for is.
That is how it is on my phone anyway.
Good luck
I posted this yesterday for you on the T-Mo site:
Start key> Email>Menu>Options> select email account >Edit Account Setup>click Next 5 times, then Advanced Settings. The next screen will let you select whether to delete them from the server or move them to server trash. I have all of my email accounts set to delete them from server and when I delete emails, I do a Send/Receiver and have had no problems with my emails deleting. If I have it set to move to server trash, it leaves them on the server.
you can skip about 5 button presses by just selecting send/receive schedule rather than Edit Account Setup. From Send/Receive menu select Advanced Settings and you just arrived at the same point.
True, but I thought perhaps there were other options that the poster might also want to change or review. But your way is the most direct.
