well, as the title implies, I have managed to get some of the mms features working on a telus titan phone
NOTE: as of yet I haven't been able to receive picture messages, but I can send them.
here's how I did it:
1. download then install the attached cab
2. under options -> advanced, then click the manual button and enter the following settings:
MMS Gateway: http://216.198.139.113
MMS URL: http://mmsfeplb01.int.eng.telusmobility.com:8088/mms
select which ever network profile you use for internet
and VOILA!!! half of the problem is solved... now if only someone could figure out how to receive them we'd be set, but I suspect that telus employs some means of the message being redireccted to their horrible online app to view the photos... which at present time, isn't displaying photos and they expire without me seeing them... good old telus, giving users the cutting edge while cutting out user support and features.
P.S. not too bad for my second post on these forums eh?
have you tried it using arcsoft mms and the same server settings?

haven't been able to duplicate the results on arcsoft... I'm new to this whole MMS thing, is there anyway to run a trace and see how this program is doing what is does?
Well as you said it does work for sending, the receiving portion however, I don't believe you will be able to do it since TELUS' MMSC server is programmed not to forward MMS' to phones that have a specific user profile such as the P4000, instead is supposed to send you a net alert and have the pictures forwarded to telusmobility.com/snap.
Unless you somehow get someon to modify your user profile in the MMSC provisioning, there should be no carrier settings or registry tweaks that could help you out, unlike other carriers.
However, why don't you just log into telusmobility.com/snap, go to preferences and set it to forward a copy to your e-mail address. I assume you use e-mail on your p4000 and this will achieve relatively the same thing...
While we are at it, although it is much more convenient to naturaly MMS someone with ther telephone number, you could just e-mail them a picture to their phone, thus using your data plan and not having to pay 25 cents per picture message...

this should send it straight to a regular phone's wap browser and you just need to get the corresponding email address for Rogers, Bell and Fido

I've recently discovered that the e-mail forwarding function only works when receiving MMS sent from a Telus phone. MMS sent from other networks cannot be decrypted correctly so they're not forwarded to the specified email address.
The "save to album" also doesn't do anything. I've checked my photo album at https://photoalbum.telusmobility.com/index.asp . It looks like the site is still under construction or maybe it's just plain crappy. Nothing was saved there from my photo messages.
All and all, I'm very disappointed in Telus in handling (blocking) MMS. I'm searching for a working SMS2Email (or MMS2Email) services now. This way the person sending you the MMS can send it to your email instead. If anyone knows one that works in Canada, Please let me know. I really need to receive MMS somehow, and not on the crappy Telus Snap site (seriously, are they kidding?!?!?!).
Sorry to bump an old thread
This worked great for sending, but has anybody figured out a way to recieve yet?
I just installed it, used the telus server settings as described, but all mms keep getting rejected by server. I definitely double-checked the addys... anyone else follow these instucs with no joy?

I can compose a text message and attach a small photo (20 to 50kb) and I get an out of memory error.
this program is very hard to use with a non-touch screen smartphone. Anyway to get it sized for a smaller screen?
i get the same error!!!! i can not get this to work any ideas i have followed everything in the OP!
Make sure you always have a subject or it will be rejected.

I'm wondering if anyone here has tried these settings on Android. I can't make it work, and I've made sure to set a subject on the messages. I don't expect much of a response, but I thought I may as well give it a shot.

Because Snap doesn't work right. Never has. When the wife and I first got the HTC S720, a Telus tech tried to get her going on Snap... even pics HE sent to it never showed up. With mine, maybe 30% of pictures sent to me ever arrive at Snap, let alone get forwarded on.
Furthermore, viewing in Snap itself has always been an exercise in futility. The password is about 2,000 characters long; the only way to effectively enter it is cut-and-paste. The only way to get it is to have the server email it to you, and the last time I did that (after I flashed my phone and lost the password), the password *never* arrived. I requested it four times, and never got a response.
And IF you do get a long, the pictures you get there are tiny. My wife ended up returning the S720 and getting a KRZR, so she could do MMS properly... she sent me 1.3MP pictures that only ever showed up as QVGA on the Snap site.

I've tried this with Rogers and Fido phones... the recipient gets a text message from my phone's email address, containing a string with the picture's filename, but not the actual picture.
Frankly, Telus's implentation of this is uttery broken and always has been. I've heard a dozen different "explanations" of why MMS won't work on their phones, and every one of them rings as bull$#!t. The most common one for them to give is simply that "no PDA-type phones support it", which I shoot down immediately with the fact that my Rogers Treo does it just fine.
When my wife's contract is up in another 16 months or so, I know she's planning to jump to Rogers so she can get a Blackberry and still do her picture messaging. Telus will lose a 20-year customer if they don't fix this issue; they will have NO chance of keeping her if they don't get MMS working. My contract will be up a year after that, and I won't be far behind her.
Hate to bother, but where is this "options" to put in the information. How do you get to it from the today screen?
Okay, trying this... but I get a "Not enough memory to complete this operation" message when I try to send even the smallest picture. I'm showing 51MB free RAM and 8.8MB free device storage memory...

Look for a new "SMS" icon in your Programs... launch that, click Menu on the right softkey, then Options... go to Advanced tab.
There must be more info required there... maybe the OP could share his settings for Message Center and Email Center numbers?
HOLY CRAP, IT WORKS!!!!
Well, partly... like the OP, I can send, but not receive (yet). The Palm app doesn't want to run on my Omnia (I get the "out of memory" error), but an older Arcsoft install (PPCGeeksSprintMMS) does.
I followed the time-honored hack for that one to enable the server editing (HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI\EnableServerEdit -> change 0 to 1), then plugged the OP's server settings into the config:
MMS -> Menu -> MMS Configuration -> Servers -> tap the server name to edit -> enter full Gateway and Server Address entries listed above, Connect via: The Internet, WAP: WAP 2.0 (Port will change to 80).
Now, Arcsoft, at least this version of it, is pretty clunky and doesn't integrate quite as nicely as the Palm app - the Palm one actually re-retrieved the last couple weeks' worth of incoming SMS messages as well(!!). This one keeps a separate inbox that so far is extraneous.
Update: okay, it worked... like, TWICE. I tried replacing the clunky ancient version of Arcsoft with a newer version and I haven't been able to get it to go since. I've even done a hard-reset and reinstalled it all clean... went through a bout of not being able to remove the WM6_threaded app as well.
If the OP is still reading this... could you maybe post your related registry keys? Thinking there must be some other string that I need, something that's either incorrect or missing... *sigh*
So near, yet so far away...

I am on T-Mobile, have used a half dozen different ROMS and have no problems with my MMS.
Your TMobile Data needs to be set on epc.tmobile.com
Then go to the SMS tab, all messages, menu MMS Options. Go to TMobile MMS Server, the server address needs to be as follows: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
Then select Connect via: T-Mobile Data
I have yet to have a problem sending a MMS using this.
try this one.
had tons of problems too, with custom roms. this cab fixed all of them. install after the auto sim configuration sets to tmobile. credit goes to the ChrisGrundy, maker of the timor tmobile 6.5 rom. also sets send recieve limits to 1000k, per current tmo limits.
(hopefully this isnt the same cab you already tried...)
edit:seems to only work with standard messaging program, previous post worked for me with manilla messaging app, but have to manually increase send/recieve size limit.
Thank you for that but im still not able to download a message or send.. it says that the notification is going to remain in the inbox... I guess i might have to switch roms which really sucks.. i really liked this one lol

The fix posted by benttwig (which I made myself) is supposed to be run after the HTC connection setup wizzard. Also, it's meant for use in the USA T-Mobile network.
Do those conditions apply to you?
I just now tried to run the fix after the connection setup wizard and it still does not work. I am sure im doing it correctly but its just not working for me.. I too have T-Mobile but I may be doing something wrong...

So I have a bell atrix and I have tried to put my Shaw email on it and i'm 100% sure all the settings are correct yet I can not send emails. I can receive them fine. But when I go to send it says authentication error sending.
Settings are as followed:
Incoming is: pop.shaw.ca and the corresponding port.
Outgoing is: mail.1xbell.ca and the corresponding port with neither box checked. I even tried enabling the mobile webmail from Shaw and used their guide to install on android devices. Didn't work.
If anyone has a Shaw email account that can send emails properly from their atrix, PLEASE post their outgoing server settings.
I spent an hour at bell with a lady who was on the phone with tech support and they couldn't fix it.
Bumping I still haven't resolved this

Please help guys. I literally have tried everything. I googled the message and I see tons of other past issues on other moto phones with no solution.
This is not the best solution but if ALL else fails, you can have Gmail check your shaw account and then access email via Gmail on the phone...
Which software are you using to try to access mail?

I really don't want another email to deal with.
This is crap. No one has been able to find a solution. The woman at bell handed me my phone after like an hour on the phone and said, "I dunno." And went and helped another customer.
670$ and this is the help i get...
I noticed that I don't get the authentication error sending when I check use secure connection. But it still says Shaw email not sent.
How informative...
I have this same problem on Bell with a SGS i9000m and Moto Atrix with mail.1xbell.ca. It says "unable to connect to server" on 3G and wifi.
try:
smtphm.sympatico.ca
port 587
ssl: no
auth: no
I tried that with a username and pw and without a username and pw.
Didn't work
Found an interesting article related to your issue, I have no clue it it will help but what do you have to lose.
http://ngmicro.wordpress.com/2009/07/10/setup-shaw-email-on-the-iphone/
Shaw blocks sending of mail while on a non shaw connection, whether it's 3G mobile data or otherwise. If you use Bell as an outgoing mail server, you are still attempting to send the mail from a non shaw connection (Bell's servers...).
There are several work arounds by using GMail to sync your shawmail address, but when you alter the "reply" or "send from" fields, the recipient will see "from: [email protected] ON BEHALF OF [email protected]"

Ya that wasn't very helpful because I need to know why my ANDROID phone isn't working on my BELL plan.
Interesting, I wouldn't have thought email settings would be device specific but I don't use Shaw or have an Atrix for that matter. I only found the article while searching for something else.
My sympathies go out to you and I hope you find a resolution to your conflict.

Shaw actually says very publicly that they block the SENDING of email, not receiving. Unfortunately they have very recently updated their support site so most of the articles about mobile email settings are MIA. When they are back up, I will gladly show you the document. I too was able to set up my shawmail on my HTC Hero (Had it for 1 year 3 months, replaced with the Atrix), but was never able to SEND email unless on a WIFI connection.
Have you tried Shaw's new "Remote SMTP" service?

Atrix problem
I just called Bell as I switched yesterday and same thing, I have had a Milestone, a Bell i9000M and both worked so I called Bell it is a known issue and they are working with Motorola, for a fix. I have tried everything in this post nothing works, I might download K9 the mail app and see if that works for now.

Hi everyone,
I'm having big issues with MMS and my GSII.
I bought it from Expansys.
I live in Australia.
I've got it running on the Telstra NextG Network.
I haven't touched it in ways Samsung wouldn't approve of.
I can't send MMS messages.
I've rang Telstra many, many times and they set this up and I turned it on and off and they sent me settings and I turned it on and off and they walked me through entering the settings manually and they transferred me to the really technical team, as high as you can go on high priority.
They told me to pull out the battery and sim card without turning the phone off, and to wait three minutes and try again and if that didn't work, to contact Samsung.
Of course, it still didn't work, and, of course, I came here.
I hope you guys can help.
:s
I'm not sure what information I need to give you that is helpful here, but I've taken some screenshots that may be related to the problem.
I'd really appreciate it if someone can help me out. I'm not sure what to do if I can't get MMSs to work.

Which error does your phone give you?
Server response error.
edit:
Just added the picture showing the error. Forgot that one first time.
I had that problem sending myself a mms. Server response error. On top of the fact that all mms coming in and out was a video instead of a picture with the stock mms.apk. I installed cm7 mms.apk and everything displays perfectly and i just sent myself a message.

Mine works fine and the only difference between my settings and yours is that I have authentication type for both Telstra Internet and Telstra MMS set to "PAP or CHAP". Try changing both these settings.
I have the same problem. After factory reset mms works for a day or two then the same error appears. I am on Rogers in Canada. All default apn/mms settings are correct.

Does it require rooting? I want to stay away from rooting until it's simple and fail-safe.

Try this: MMS "APN" Telestra.Internet and not Telestra.mms (since mms initiates telestra.internet
I had the same problem with T-Mobile and my sgs2. I think the problem lies with the messaging app as all was fine once I changed to go SMS, problem solved.
When I am sending MMS, I turn Wi-Fi off.
I usually add Topic/Subject and some text to my MMS.
This way my MMS sending works almost 90%.
Sometimes I have to delete MMS which is in "sending" status and try again. This way I got 100% success rate. I have no errors though. Try PAP on both Internet and MMS APN settings.
Have the same problem. Try to manually enter the phonenumber to the recipient. That works for me
hey guys, ive been trawling the internet for solutions and still cant get my mms to work (cant send or receive). has anyone got a working solution? i read somewhere that the galaxy s had a similar problem and needed a combined apn for internet and mms - does anyone have this?
(im on telstra in australia)
What a Nightmare
I also had this problem only SGS2. Bought from MobiCity and running in Australia on Telstra NextG. Unable to send MMS but all other SMS and internet working fine.
I looked up the Telstra website and entered their APN settings ... No MMS.
I looked up the Telstra settings on Ausdroid and entered these ... No MMS.
I found information on how to delete APN and put internet+MMS into a single APN as suggested for the original SGS ... No MMS. Grrrrrrrrr...
I used the Telstra website to SMS the APN settings direct to the phone ... No MMS and increasing frustration.
I sent an email to MobiCity telling them of my problem, as well as what I had already tried. They very helpfully sent me the Telstra APN settings ... which still didn't work.
I tried the suggestion mentioned here to type the phone number directly rather than use a contact from my Google contacts ... finally some success.
Then, thinking 'I'll be stuffed if I am going to lookup and type the number every time's, Installed GO SMS Pro from the Market, and it just works. Looks better, improved functionity including SMS scheduling. And Free.
It makes me think it is a problem with the stock messaging app. Anyway, thanks to the person who suggested GO SMS. Much appreciated.
I've was not able to send MMS to some contacts. It was the problem with spaces in numbers just like Outlook adds after the country code. I have cleared all spaces from numbers (via Kies) and now MMS works.
MMS error was something like 'cannot connect to server'. All settings for MMS was correct (like APN, ports, etc). SMS to a number with space works. Checked on 2 SGS2 with XXKE4 and XXKF2
I have a Hell of a nightmare as well with finding what I m looking for about MMS :
I want to change sending Priority to highest and can't seem to find a way in the SG2 menu or even with an app or MOD....
I posted a new thread on this issue.... : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16892768#post16892768
thanks for any help....
For all those who are on the Rogers network, I spoke to a tech rep yesterday and apparently it is a network bug that they are aware off and trying to fix. He said to try and input the contact numbers manually instead. I tried and it does work if you do it this way.
I am not on Telstra, but do you have the correct settings in the messaging app-settings-message centre/smsc ?
That was my prob a long time ago on my Sgs1.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
I had the same problem. I had to remove the country code +61 from all my phone numbers for MMS to work. Standard MMS settings work just fine.

I just wanted say a big thanks for this information. I don't have a Samsung but an HTC HD2 and it appears that I was the only person on Earth who couldn't send an MMS with my nandroid rom on the HTC HD2... or there were lots living without it. Your suggestion re "PAP or CHAP" has MMS sending perfectly on my phone with Telstra NextG. Reproduceable too as I now have my wife's HTC HD2 sending MMS as well on Telstra!
Other Roms I can send/receive MMS without much problem. But with Fenny or Insane I can not send MMS with the default app or with Hangouts.
I can send plain texts with both, just not MMS.
I would rather use one of these 2 roms because I need to be able to use the screen mirroring with my samsung tv which I havent found functional on any other roms.
Would love any suggestions or tips, on what in particular with these 2 roms prevents me from sending/receiving mms while others and stock do.
Thanks

I remember trying that with Fenny, am trying Insane now so will try again.
Settings->Connections->More Networks->Mobile Networks->Access Point Names-> There is nothing listed here
I will find out the GCI apn settings and add them and test it.
Well that didnt help, but I found another location that did.
Hangouts->Settings->SMS->Access Point Names-> had 2 options both of which I recognize as local phone companies, the GCI one was slightly different than they had listed on their website so I changed it to what it should be and successfully texted myself a picture.
Sent my wife one and will see if she gets it as well.
Edit: I haven't successfully sent her one yet but I think its just our crappy edge network at fault, I have successfully received one from her, so I think it is probably working as good as it is going to.
Is there a way to get it to work over wifi connections? we are both usually connected to wifi so that would be more convenient.

Edit: I haven't successfully sent her one yet but I think its just our crappy edge network at fault, I have successfully received one from her, so I think it is probably working as good as it is going to.
Is there a way to get it to work over wifi connections? we are both usually connected to wifi so that would be more convenient.

Hi mate ,
Check with your phone company which APN settings are the right ones , even if you use WIFI the data need to knows where to go.
SMS and MMS need the APN , apps like Whatspp do not they can go thru wifi
