Welcome to forums
Your Rhodium seems to be CDMA so your section is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=517
Good luck and don´t forget to vote for Rhodium!!

The idea behind custom ROMs is to replace the sometimes buggy, bloated, inferior ROM that comes with device with different custom ROMs. Custom ROMs are generally faster, more stable, and have more features. Different ROMs can have different tweaks, included software, and features. Each ROM is right for different people, so a ROM you like may not be one that someone else likes. For that reason, it's highly recommended that you simply flash a bunch of different ROMs, and decide which one you like most.
As orb3000 said, your Telus Touch Pro2 is a CDMA model, so you should not flash any ROMs from here. Since XDA-Developers is primarily a GSM forum, most Pro2 CDMA ROMs can be found at PPCGeeks.
Also, be sure of the risks before you flash a ROM. I've flashed well over 100 times on different devices and never have had a problem, but you can brick a device if you don't follow directions. That being said, ROM flashing is pretty safe, if you follow directions and don't take shortcuts. Hope that helps

Thanks for the help
Ok one more problem apparently my phone si hybrid?! it has a sim card slot too for roaming. does this make any difference. will apps from this site still work on my phone?

Most applications on this site should work just fine with your CDMA device. The only big thing that will be different between CDMA/GSM hybrids and the GSM only devices is the process of installing a new ROM, but even that is pretty similar.

I still haven't flashed a cooked rom and not sure if I will. Anyone else?

I have upgraded my orginal rom to offical roms such as 1.48 and the latest 1.61. I really want to try a cooked rom (which I did many a time on my Blackstone which I have sold), but other than wanting the Documents tab which I would find very useful for me.... well I just am not sure if flashing cooked roms are a good idea.
I say this because I flashed so many cooked roms on my Blackstone and even after hard resets, I had noticed a decrease in speed in overall performance. I think it was because I flashed it too many times. I wrote in the Blackstone forum if flashing too many times could do more harm than good.
I just read in the Leo Rom forums that when you flash roms of different sizes it can leave residule files behind in the rom which can make the phone unstable or sluggish.
I so want to try a new rom and every time I see an updated cooked rom in the rom thread I aways go to the last posts and still read of some problems some users have which puts me off.
I am not degrading the wonderful lengthy work these rom cookers do but I think I am happy enough with my phone with official roms. I just wish I could add in a documents tab without having to flash the entire rom.
Also why is it that the phone is super fast after a hard reset and as soon as you start installing stuff it becomes less so? Shame really. I am thinking one day to try the phone with no third party apps just to see if the speed stays the same. However, that is defeating the whole purpose of the phone about not installing apps.
Rant over
Well, I have a T-mobile-branded phone, and I have no intention of flashing a cooked ROM at least until after T-mobile releases a T-Mobile-compatible ROM upgrade. Until they do, I have no way of flashing back to a T-Mobile ROM and SPL, which means that flashing would irreversibly void my warranty; and with hardware as flaky as the HD2's clearly is, that's an unacceptable risk.
I'm not going to flash a new rom until I'm looking around for a new phone. Then I might try to dash in some new roms, but untill then I'm rolling stock all the way

do the T-mobile ROMs that are available to download from many locations here not flash back the SPL?
I downloaded my version of the t-mobile ROM so that I could go back if I encounter any hardware problems...

My phone is on vodafone but I got the phone from Phones4u does this mean it's branded to vodafone? Also if this is the case that it will void my warranty I have insurance. I f*ck the phone up then I loose it "unintentionally" . Then get a new one

lol I know but think is how are they ever going to find out as long as your not posting on forums saying 'I've done this' lol they will be none the wiser. Serves them right for offering insurance to people who are on the sh*test network going lol. Wish I could have got mine on a different network but apparently as it's from phones4u I already have the 1.48 rom and can upgrade straight from HTC woohooo

Flashing an official ROM through the PC won't overwrite the hspl, flashing an official ROM via sd card WILL overwrite the HSPL.
You should read the HSPL thread, it talks about uninstalling hspl half way down the first post.

This decrease in speed has to do with you installing apps and the registry gets filled up and through the installing and uninstalling of things, things slow down as the rom gets fragmented just look your computer. This is why overall performance decreases and not primarily because of flashing.
Another reason that the device can all of a sudden perform worse is also due to the different builds out there. They all have difference strengths and weakness. Some are more fast and some of them are more stable. The device itself does not mutate however I'm sure over 1000 flashes, there is a natural wear and tear. Most of us are no where near that.
Wait for your providers to provide stock upgrades so that reverting to stock is possible. I know quite a few members don't have any stock roms to fail back on. That would be the only reason not to flash a cooked rom.
Happy flashing people...!!

i'm sorry man but if u bricked ur phone, there's really no way back..
sorry to hear that.. ='(
If you flash an incorrect rom then it is bricked and no way to restore it, sorry.
This is why I state in BIG letters over and over to make absolutely sure you are flashing the correct rom on a 1024LEO.
Only thing you can really do is take it back and ask for a replacement if its still within the first few weeks of owning it.
Mark.
Thank you for all the reply. I bought it right on the launch day. I will try to bring it back to tmobile.

This is becoming a common theme and to be honest, it's very easy for a rookie to make this type of mistake as we're seeing over and over again. There needs to be more of a clear standard for labeling these threads for the US HD2 where mistakes can easily be made. Looking through the titles of the threads, you'll see ROMs labeled...
TMOUS
TMOU
T-MOBILE
T-MOB
US TMob
US HD2
There just seems to be a lot of work put into making these ROMs which we are all extremely grateful for, but not much effort into making sure people are clear which ROM needs to be flashed. When you add in premium, regular, lite, etc versions, it becomes even more cluttered. Just me 2 cents.

Honestly bro, like mark said. What more can they implement, when it clearly says in big letters: "Only flash tmobile USA 1024 roms" i bricked my phone as well, took it back and got a new one. then again, i get your point also, maybe if the incorporate a general label like [US TMOBILE ONLY] Rom it might make it easier for noobs like my self to not make the common mistake.
PS. People JUST FREAKING READ BEFORE FLASHING.

Any ROM that states TMOUS etc is compatible. If you still are not sure ask the person making the ROM. There is no need to put TMOUS Only as the same ROM can be also used for others.
there is plenty of warning. my sympathy runneth not. the problem is people flashing without having even tried to read up on the process. half an hour here or on google would turn up dozens of hits that clearly point out the danger, even someone that doesn't understand yet would see the warnings and be cautious....... well.you'd think so anyway.
I got a new one now. hopefully i dont brick it this time.
Good for you!
I had to double check flashing Dutty's he has like 6 versions out and only 1 is for Tmobile.
It appears that radio ROM may kill the phone.
Just make sure the ROM is compatible with 2.08.50.xxx radio.
Have to be tmobile customer to get warrenty phone? Is prepaid card customer count?
Sometimes it hard to relate when you are on a different level
I have been messing with PC's for twenty years.
But I must admitt. I was confused at first to what rom was what.
You might want to add to the how to flash a rom thread. a little more detail about the information describing the rom.
I know you stated in the how too 2.5 or higher. I think an example would help or change the wording. Just trying to help! Not being rude. I appreciate all I have learned from you all.
Thanks!

Do you not read the stickies especially ALL the warnings in my flashing guide telling you to make absolutely sure the rom is compatable with your device. You cannot flash non Tmobile based Roms on a Tmobile 1024LEO.
I dont think there is anything you can do if you flash an incompatable rom onto your 1024LEO. The only thing you can do is take it back where you got it, say its not working and face the consequences.

Read people, READ!!!!
My cdma vogue was easy to flash even cooked my own personal roms for it, I have had my tmo hd2 for about 3 weeks now, and will probably spend about another week or two reading before I begin flashing it, this gsm stuff is just way too far out of my "comfortable" zone. Too many varients of the phone too. People need to spend time and RESEARCH a bit before attempting something they have never done before.

I received my SIMUNLOCK code from TMO like 2 days after I got the phone. I have personally flashed just about every rom in this section and mine is still SIM UNLOCKED. Hope this helps..
sorry for the confussion let me clear this up a bit
first to 2002wrex that said"if the phone is SIM unlocked, thats permanent. for someone who has done many rom flashes, thats pretty much common knowledge.
yes maybe common knowledge but ever heard of a little phone called the iphone? if you upgrade to the newest software it is locked to AT&T and the DEV team does not think they can unlock it ...ever so thats why i ask the question with the cell company's getting smarter i wanted to know if i would lose that code...you never know right?
and as far as the

"http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614" that i have read many times it says "IMPORTANT: DO NOT flash any Rom unless it states in the 1st post that its compatable with the 1024LEO or the chef confirms its safe to flash on a 1024LEO. If you flash a Rom with a Base version before 2.08 then you will most likely brick your phone. PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!" and not all roms say what radio is in it thats why i ask hope this clears things up a bit i was asking what would be a good first rom to flash on the hd2
thanks

No sim unlock just install HSPL for TMO 1024 and choose any of the available roms. HSPL is needed to flash ROMS. There are other methods but HSPL is the best way. Also read about task29.

All the roms in this section Are T-mobile based roms so no worries here about the radio version as they will all be right, As long as you stay in this section then you are good.
As far as the jailbreak for the Icrap goes the sim unlock is a work around not a true unlock. If you get the code from ATT and enter it then it never has to entered again.
ok thanks guy i just wanted to be sure thanks for the info really helped

Entering a code into the phone which was generated for that specific phone is a little different that tweaking iPhone's Software to allow a SIM card other than AT&T to be used with the phone. HTC given the codes out so there is no reason to try to tweak the HD2 to unlock it with software.

where should I do!

I see slot of people flashing their phones but I dont see why.what are the perks of flashing and would it void my warranty with t mobile
The purpose of flashing is so you can get new roms that are created by developers which mostly run better than the stock roms. Yes you do void your warranty if you have a HSPL (Hard SPL) but you can return it to stock SPL if you need to use the warranty. It will act like it has never been there.
Its up to you what you want to do.
hnmmm i see. is there something that other roms offer that others don't?
Yes, the operate without all the fail that that stock rom is. Quicker, Smoother, and just more awesome. Try kumars rom out. its good stuff!!!

Yes, tons. Just imagine everything you've added onto your phone with cabs would already be placed on the phone from the start. Having them already "cooked" in keeps the phone from lagging and makes it mush smoother. I had a lot of lag and freezing problems with the stock t mobile rom but since switching to Energy roms I haven't had any issues. For a list of apps and programs already cooked in just check out the official rom thread of the rom your eying.
i don't thinkid be able to cuz I couldn't really understand any of the tutorials on how too doo it sad day for me
does anyone wanna help me out here or is it just too much to explain. I'm just worried about bricking my phone
What's to explain.
Go and get the HSPL for your phone-put phone into active sync with computer-run HSPL.
Download a rom for the phone-load the file LEOIMG onto the main directory of the memory card-put phone into bootloader-ROM loads-done.
That's it.
but what if i need to hard reset or something and who can give me a list of roms that are compatible i don't understand how to find them
There is a thread stickied on the top if this section listing T-Mobile compatible roms. If it says T-Mobile,T-Mous, T-Mo etc, or 1024 leo it is compatible. The thing is T-Mobile hd2's hsve 1024 mb of flash memory while the Euro hd2 has 512 mb. If you flash a 512 rom you will have a brick. There are some really good threads stickied about flashing roms, tweaks and such. Read them a few times to get an idea of terms and procedures.
BTW... YOU and ONLY YOU are responsible if you brick your phone.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653114
List of compatible roms.
yes i agree man which is why i wanna get all the details about my phone cuz i chose to flash it. i shall look over it. thanks much guys. would anyone be willing totteach me various things or point me to such places where i can learn to make a theme for myself or possibly make one for me?
Uhmm compatible roms..........Maybe in the T-Mobile section I linked to the one that says "T-Mobile USA HD2 ROM Development"? Granted there are other ROMs in the Standard Leo section as well as other site out on the net but you have to sift through to be sure they are compatible.
anyway what if i need to hard reset will it install my stock tmo rom or will it install custom rom again.
It would reinstall the ROM that you have loaded.
ok a few more questions and I'm done. will tmobile still notify me of updates and where can i find the stock roms in case i need to warranty my phone
Have you even opened the ROM development section? If you did you would have seen the first sticky is all the different stock ROM's that are around. As for updates from T-Mobile yes you will still receive messages from T-Mobile if they put out an update. If you want to load an update you can. If you ever have issues and need warranty work yes you can flash back to a stock ROM and stock HSPL.
haven't cuz it takes forever to load cuz i only have internet on my phone. sorry
you do realize that you need an actual computer to flash your phone right? You will have an amazing adventure cracking your phone with no internet access on an actual computer. Its not impossible but good luck..
This thread seems to have :facepalms: and written all over it.
Read up and read more. Then when you think you have an idea what to do, read again!

general help new hd2 user.

Hi all .
im a new member but long time reader of these forums.
i have an htc hd2 flash size 512mb..ram size 448..rom 1.72.161.3(82124)wwe radio 2.07.51.22_2.
i was lucky enough to get this handset of a friend who found it to difficult to use (he's iphone now).
as far as i can tell its a vodaphone handset(splash screen when turned on) but must be unlocked because im an orange user.i have in no way flashed anything or tweaked anything.
im loving this handset ,used a friends iphone and got bored in 10minutes of use.i have read alot on flashing roms and radio but to be honest im finding it difficult to understand, not sure what hspl and spl is,and why radio is seperate when flash sometimes?i have searched forums but just need a helping hand to start then im sure i would be fine.
so any help and advice on improving this handset would be greatly appreciated.
many thanks
ok so spl is stock it means the phone is locked so you cant flash custom roms (i think im right lol) hspl means its unlocked (but not sim unlocked) you need hspl to flash a custom rom, its easier now then when i first got my hd2, you can just use hspl 3 now and you just choose from the drop down menu one that ends in hspl,
Radios often don't come with most custom ROM's because the chefs have there roms tested with certain radios for performance wise, I would say every custom ROM will tell you what radio is best advised to use, for there rom, flashing a custom rom will remove everything from you're phone so be sure to save contacts with myphone or pim back up something like that, you should take a read through this thread mate its quite easy once you read it and then read it again just make sure it is quite hard to brick a hd2 or a htc phone unless you havent really read properly but there is plenty of people here if you need help, if you get stuck just ask before you flash better safe than sorry

many thanks for quick reply.
the link u posted sent me to t-mobile version, i thought my handset was normal version the keys at bottom of handset arent coloured green and red .
is it worth going from stock rom to a custom one?
i find the stock ok but does tend to slow up if i dont stay on top of task manager and shut down programs which are still running, even though i did exit out of them.
im reading through forums again trying to understand this flashing option.quite annoyed with myself as i tend to be normally ok at flashing things done it with my tomtom etc.
many thanks for time and patience
hi..
i think im getting there (alot of reading to be sure)
is it actually worth using a custom rom ?
if i decide not to flash a custom rom
can i still apply the tips and tweaks to handset..for example im looking at the landscape.cab will this make all features move to landscape instead of just a few applications?
and any other tweaks i choose from xda vast list.
many thanks for time and patience
search for bsb tweaks. You can use any of them except for the decrease phone sensitivity and tap time.
Also, any tweaks should work on your phone.

can i still apply the tips and tweaks to handset..for example im looking at the landscape.cab will this make all features move to landscape instead of just a few applications?
and any other tweaks i choose from xda vast list.
many thanks for time and patience

I am currently running the stock Rom I have had a few different roms on my HD2 and there all different and good for a lot of different reasons I eventually went back to stock just for a change as I mainly use my phone for work and some Roms still have a few bugs.
I installed cookies home tab (CHT) which is awesome and BSB tweaks and I find thats got my phone working great.
Best thing is even if you try everything you can always go back to start so give it a shot everyone will be glad to help as long as you search for an answer to a problem first
Just think about what you want from your phone and look at what others have done there is a plethora of information here
Enjoy

Hi all .
im a new member but long time reader of these forums.
i have an htc hd2 flash size 512mb..ram size 448..rom 1.72.161.3(82124)wwe radio 2.07.51.22_2.
i was lucky enough to get this handset of a friend who found it to difficult to use (he's iphone now).
as far as i can tell its a vodaphone handset(splash screen when turned on) but must be unlocked because im an orange user.i have in no way flashed anything or tweaked anything.
im loving this handset ,used a friends iphone and got bored in 10minutes of use.i have read alot on flashing roms and radio but to be honest im finding it difficult to understand, not sure what hspl and spl is,and why radio is seperate when flash sometimes?i have searched forums but just need a helping hand to start then im sure i would be fine.
so any help and advice on improving this handset would be greatly appreciated.
many thanks

If you dont plan on flashing to a custom rom, somethings you should look at
co0kie's Home Tab and CHT Editor
Bsb Tweaks
cleanram
Chainfire's 3d driver
data controller
also read tboy2000's thread
for games and some apps, check this site out, i suggest you download the omarket app to make life easier
and also moving the album cache, look for tune4's cab as it saves tonnes of space!
those are the basic few to make sure everything runs nicely...
many thanks for all your help and info.
im just checking if i got things right if you dont mind checking.
my handset is a vodaphone but sim free (im orange)
ive download HSPL3 which i run from pc desktop via usb to htc hd2.
but i have to check spl version by press volume down as well as reset button on back or is it via settings etc?
once hspl is on handset i choose which rom (unless stated otherwise) and run it like a normal rom upgrade .and voila alll done!?
radio is to do with wifi and calls and doesnt need changing unless have to?
many thanks for help again, and i will check out above threads as well.
i think i will get it in the end just a steep learning cure,do i once and know doubt i will be was that all it took.lol
many thanks for time and patience
