3G Unrestrictor type program? - HD2 General

For those of you that dont know, 3G unrestrictor is an app for the iPhone that allows you to watch higher quality vids over 3G on youtube, lets you use Slingplayer and iPlayer over 3G.
Is there anything similar for the HD2.Getting mine tomoorw or Monday.Would be nice if such a program is available??

As far as I know there isn't anything that restricts you to using wifi.

No need on WinMo... we dont have that issue to begin with

Oh right, but dont O2 do the restricting?

Videocall without front camera?

It is possible make videlcalls with PDA without front camera like HTC Touch 3G?
I think is only a dialer problem!.. or not?
Any help?
Nobody? Any help?
If there's a way I would love to hear it too. Have a CDMA Diamond, and can think of plenty of situations it'd be useful to make a video call where the other person can see what I'm pointing the camera at, especially if I can combine it with speakerphone.
why don't u guys try qik.com? it offers u the ability to live broadcast a video feed from your camera. and if you are on 3G, u can talk and send video at the same time.

I just installed it and tried it out, but I can't seem to figure out any way to send my video feed directly to another phone? It seems like it automatically puts it online to my qik account, but there's no way to have an interactive conversation with a viewer while it's streaming?

you are right, it just does this. i thought this is what you are looking for. if the other party is on 3G, they can view your feed on the website, just a work around.
I used to have a Hermes, Cingular 8525 variant without the front facing camera. I flashed it with a rom that supports video calling. The result - I can make/receive a video call. I can see the other person I'm talking with, but he can't see me.

Help! Tmobile Video issues

Hi,
I have seen the problem mentioned on many forums but I still havent found an answer. I recently have bought an HD2 on TMobile and cannot get any videos playing on it as it always says that I need the latest version of flash, yet when I try to donwload it doesnt work. I spoke to Tmobile and they seemed unsure as to why it wasnt working and suggested I download Flash lite, but the link they gave me doesnt work.
Does any one know how I can get round this, ideally without doing anything that will invalidate the warranty. I have managed to get Iplayer working though.
How are you trying to watch the videos? Full flash support isn't available on Windows Mobile devices to date. I currently have the HD2 on WinMo as well. The best solutions (I believe) to date are;
1) Skyfire Browser.
Skyfire have just released a version of their browser for VGA devices which looks fantastic. This includes full flash and silverlight support. The only downside is that as the website is loaded on a seperate server and condensed the image quality isn't as good as it could be. Also there isn't a landscape mode. Which is a pain for watching video!
You can get Skyfire Browser here.
2) Youtube app.
The VGA app designed for the HD2 is absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately, Tmobile, in all their wisdom took the application off the HD2 before shipping. Fortunately you can install the program manually here. You will need to extract the CAB file from the RAR file before running on your phone.
3) Myplayer.
I know you have said you have Iplayer working but for others...
If you have the fantastic Coreplayer installed you can use the Myplayer app to stream BBC Iplayer. You can also stream from ITV Player and Five on Demand but you would need to pay Myplayer for the server fees. The quality is reasonable and watchable but not crisp and clear. You can download Myplayer here.
Hope this helped.
Dan.
Opera doesn't support flash but IE on HD2 does support flash. With IE, the flash experience depends on the complexity of the site.

in my experience some sites work, some don't. euro gamer tv didn't work even on ie. I had assumed this was down to the fact that flash lite isn't full desktop flash. am I wrong to assume this? should pretty much all embedded video work? im also on t mobile but I have the you tube ap, and I got the phone from mobiles.co.uk so I think my handset is unlocked...
oh and I typed all this on my phone using the swype keyboard
i installed the youtube app on my tmobile phone and it conflicts with my recorded videos i'v shot, as in they dont play, i uninstalled youtube and they play fine. anyone else had this problem? if so is there a fix? thanks.

I had the same problem and as far as I know there isn't a fix.
I got round it by flashing ROM 1.48 on to my T Mobile via the goldcard method and so now have a "clean" sim free HD2 and able to flash new ROM's when they become available.
The you tube app is there and also jetcet printer which T Mobile removed along with the trial of co-pilot

didnt really want to flash my phone, read a lot of threads with people having issues with roms. mine doesnt seem to have none of the issues or problems wot i read on xda with my stock tmobile rom, apart from the slight pinkiness on photos, must of got that 1 in a 1000 what seems to be running fine lol, so i`m a bit cautious whether to flash my phone or not, i really miss the youtube app though, i used to use it quite a lot on my diamond2. might just sit it out a bit longer an see if anyone comes up with a fix, fingers crossed lol
Does anyone have solution for this problem? My HTC HD2 from T-Mobile isn't playing youtube videos usign Internet Explorer application. I want to know if there is any solution to be able to watch youtube videos on Internet Explorer!
PS: I'm using another operator at the momen, not T-Mobile(I unlocked my phone)
the people here always have a solution...
fix opera flash:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544770
as for youtube/t-mobile - flash a different rom. as long as you get a copy of your stock rom as a precaution it would seem highly unlikely that you can brick the phone

If you have installed BSB tweaks 1.6 (which you should ) you can set Skyfire to rotate to landscape mode.
Tmobile always have to make their phones ****ter somehow! they either put on **** themes or remove apps and features!
I can say however, my tmobile hd2 has been working pretty well, apart from it not playing videos because of me installing youtube!
I'm just wondering if there is anyone who does not have a tmobile hd2 who also has an issue with their video playback from installing youtube?
Which Rom is recommended? how is htc's rom on their website? Will it restrict me loading it being a tmob customer?

I don't think this issue will apply to non tmobile users as its only tmobile who've removed the YouTube app. god knows why!!! I really don't understand it at all!!! I really miss the YouTube app but don't want to flash my phone. come on guys someone must know how to figure this out?? please...... pretty please!! lol
Hello all. just got my hd2 a few days ago from t mobile, and as a lot of you found out the you tube app has been removed so have been looking for a fix.
have downloaded the you tube app from here but it killed my outher videos as well
so then on a random idea while googleing i found the page telling me download from (edit cant post urls wwwDOTmDOTgoogleDOTcoDOTuk/youtube) and then it told me it was un suported.
but when i went into internet explorer and put the same url in. it downloaded a totaly diffrent app for you tube. is a bit more basic then the outher one but it plays vids and i am still able to play the vids on my phone
I hope this will help some outhers out as a short term till t-mobile gives back the full app
have u called tmobile to check your content lock is off? the content lock prevents sites loading that tmobile consider adult sites. this includes facebook and youtube! sometimes its removed at sign up if you speak to a person, but if you do it online (or over the phone sometimes) its set to be on and has to be removed. im not quite sure why tmobile force contract users (who have to be over 18 in the UK) to have a content lock.

Official Youtube app updated***

the official youtube app has been updated with a more finger friendly home screen. along with the ability to login to your youtube account. haven't seen if video streaming quality is any better since i'm at work and 3G signal is a little weak inside this building.
don't bother trying through the Opera brwoser though. the page throws a "device not supported" message on it and wants to direct you to youtube's mobile web page
instead go through the internet explorer and everything will download and install smoothly with no issues.

DO NOT DO THIS!!!
Its a serious step down in video quality and options. Plus it uninstalls the stock version without telling you it is going to.
Ya... great... i can log in now.... woopdy freaking do.
That said. Does anyone have the cab so i can go back to the stock version?
crap my bad. didn't think they would degrade video quality on an update.

Video Call PC - WTF, this must be a conspiracy!

I have searched the net for hours, and I cannot find any easy method to make a Video call from my Galaxy S to my PC via the net.....
Why the heck is this so difficult? The main result I get is Fring, which used to work with Skype, but doesnt any more, so that is useless. They dont even have a PC Client, which is beyond me!
Then there is Qik, but that is useless as well. Either can be used Phone-Phone, but I want Phone - PC so I can video chat with family while I travel.
I am not very experienced with this, but apparently Fring can be configured for SIP services.... but when I looked these up, they are require payment.
Can anyone help me out???? The phone has a front facing camera and can connect to wifi, there is no reason I can see that it shouldnt be an easy thing to do - it seems like all the big telcos are holding back the technology so they can charge their huge rates, hence why I think its a conspiracy!!!!
Cheers!
Yes, I too think the biggest reason for not having video calling over a data connection is due to the telcos' influences. Technically i see no limitation, Fring already did this and showed that it is possible. Skype IMO has the infrastructure but they are more interested in pleasing Verizon than their own customers .
Sipdroid, works with any sip client and trunk that supports video calls.
i tried sipdroid, but i couldn't get it to work, and when i searched somebody said you needed to pay for the account.
but if you say it works, i'll give it another go. so does it work phone to pc or phone to phone or both?
Bump. I've been wondering the same. My small research also seamed to indicate that sipdroid was the way to go.
i've been trying to find a popular video calling App that works with the PC
so far Sipdroid seems to be the only one
"iMovachi"
Ugly as hell and it doesn't support die front camera of the Galaxy S, bit it is the ONLY video chat software that works from android to pc and vice versa.

Not compatible with Galaxy S and the software is a totally mess. Force closes every few seconds, horrible resolution, etc...
Has anyone tried ooVoo yet ?
The single user is free (3 user free for 30 days) and it seems to work perfect with the front camera. It was also a doddle to set up.
I use Yahoo Messenger video chat.
I tried Yahoo Messenger but it didn't support the front camera

Hey.. ooVoo works! Thanks for the advice. Front camera works perfect. I didnt test the voice calls yet... but its free to call phone - PC through wi-fi... its still beta.. hope they improve its quality soon.
another good one is Tango works great between phones
but no PC support yet
Skype app on iPhone already supports video - shame the Android version is still in the dark ages

[News] Skype now has video...but not SGS? (link to something may work pg2)

I'm updating Skype now on the market. Says has video now. But says only for selected handsets and SGS is not one of them.
ye, sucks typically skype
This is baffling. If the Nexus S can support it without a front-facing camera, why not the SGS?!
Oh crapas. Its bad enough that they decided not to support one of (if not the most) popular android phone running 2.3 now. What's worse is...
a. DOES NOT SAVE PASSWORD. UGH.
b. I personally think the UI is worse. At least the "Sign-Out" is on the menu bar instead of buried in the "status" menu. But because it does not save password, this really sucks. Would it kill them to put a big red "Turn Off" button somewhere?
c. Seemed less stable, but that might be my phone.
d. I thought that the new "SMS" functionality would mean that Skype is now an SMS client, which would combine messaging functions into one program. Add a dialler into it, and it could be kick-ass. But this is NOT SMS. This is a text message sent over Skype's network to an SMS gateway to a phone. It costs much more than my SMSs through my carrier, which are true SMS.
I only use Skype on my phone when I'm travelling and need to call international. If this program was better, I would not mind leaving it on all the time. Now, google talk is starting to look better vis-a-vis Skype. If only I could call phones from Google Talk, like I can on my computer...
i hope anyone can hack this and enable video for sgs

Skype sucks anyways. Do you really think it will become better with MS?
What we really need is open standard video conferencing protocols.

Its one of those things in which the network is the value. Skype is used for international business and communication. It works better than Google Talk (which also is not open I believe) for talk between China and USA. It works for making cheap international computer to phone calls.
But yes...the company does suck. They can't provide chat customer service...and they're a communications company. Also interface is only so-so.
I NEED Skype on my phone...if no Android version I would get an iPhone. Only other way to call USA from China (without paying huge rates) is to activate VPN and use Google Talk. And that option only started 2 months ago. And I can only call a computer, not a phone with Google.
Fring and Nimbus, IMO, are no better than Skype and don't have desktop clients.

I hate it when people suggest Fring as a replacement for Skype. Give me a software to video chat between Android and PC seamlessly and then I'll call it a replacement for Skype.

it's ironic, cause fring used to be like that, it did support video between mobile (syambian i guess for instance) and pc skype seamlessly. but because of skype they had to remove this option.

Not working for me here.... I'm just trying with Skype Test Call user, which video is not showing up as an option... Perhaps it would work with a real contact? not sure.
Ok, I guess i should read more closely... I uninstalled first, then reinstalled your patched version. I get a video call option now, but the video preview on my side is really messed up.... running Darky's 10.1 (JVH base)
I see 4 pictures of my self from the front facing camera, all on the horizontal view screen... each picture is distorted in shape and has white lines running horizontally through it..

How exactly is it better for talk between China and USA? It's just like any video call software out there. Windows live messenger/yahoo/google/apple/logitech all work, to name a few.
And for phone calls, it's about the most expensive VoIP solution out there.
I use voip.ms, which is cheaper and works with open protocols. With my ATA I can call with a real phone, with my computer turned off. Works on android too.
