Hey guys, i've tried a search but nothings come up so far as how i can get my contacts off the phone.
Heres the story so maybe someone out there can help me.
Last week i put my phone to charge and realised the screen had just gone black.
I could still press the buttons and knew it worked because it still vibrated.
Took the battery out and left it overnight, in the morning put it back in and tried turning it on. Still black screen, but the phone still vibrated when i pressed buttons.
Took it to a mobile phone repair place a few days ago and they said the motherboard was gone (so i need to take it back in later and get this done).
I asked for it back hoping to be able to access the contacts off the phone but when i tried i can only get to the files (pictures, notes and music) but not the actual contacts saved on my hd.
Heres what i'm hoping to do.
Somehow get to my contacts via my computer and copy them off the phone. Since the phones screen is black, i can't install anything that requires use of the phone itself.
I've got everything i need so far except for the contacts.
Any help would greatly be appreciated!
Black Screen
If the phone still seems to be working but with no screen, you could try something like MyMobiler (http://www.mymobiler.com) which allows you to operate the phone from your PC desktop. Outside chance but maybe worth a quick try?
If you can still turn phone on, why not use Microsoft Outlook and activesync and save all your contacts, appointments, calendar entried etc this way
Hi.
I do not know if you use or not Microsoft MyPhone.
After every rom update i use MyPhone to sync the data.
After that the data is accessible on the web: contacts, photos, videos, appointments, sms, music, documents etc.
This is a great think right?
Frozen it by fridge
It will be worked some times

Hi guys,
Was hoping somebody here can help.
Yesterday I was making a call using my bluetooth headset. At the end of the call I pressed the usual end talk button but for some reason it said I was still connected, the phone had crashed at this screen.
I therefore decided to restart the device using the button on the bottom of the phone.
Now it hangs on the T-mobile load screen. It displays what I presume is the firmware revision, the numbers disppear then it locks showing the white T-mobile splash screen and doesn't get any further.
T-mobile are going to replace the phone but I really need to get my contacts off the phone. I know I should of done a backup but you know what its like
Has anybody got any suggestions how I can get the contacts off the handset??
I presume if I do a full reset I'll loose everything.
I have tried removing battery and leaving off for a few hours / let it run flat / reboot with usb and mains connection while holding reset etc etc.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
i kinda have the same problem whith my spv but i dont care about contacts..., and im sorry you cant get them back unless you have saved them to sd card/backup typen on wii since christmas yehaa!
Hey guys,
ActiveSync wasn't finding my phone last night, so I soft reset it. When it started up, it's stuck on white screen (where the blue, windows mobile screen should be). ActiveSync cannot see the phone at all.
I've read the post: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Unbrick
I've put it into bootloader menu (SPL 1.09) and connecting the USB cable changes "serial" to "USB"
Windows XP finds "HTC USB Sync" device and ActiveSync's wheels start turning.
A few seconds later, ActiveSync stops wokring, saying the device can't connect.
All I want is to recover my SMSs, the rest I don't care.
Is there a way to connect to the phone's files in 'HTC USB Sync' (bootloader) mode??
*crosses fingers*please say yes, please say yes*
All the best,
Dax.
i have the same problem!
I managed to upgrade to 1.09 while stuck in this white screen... is there any fix to the white screen?
The other forum post didnt work, tried the battery off for 20mins, the usb plugged in with no battery (phone doesnt even turn on this way)
none work
please help you brainy guys
Have you tried to flash from SD card... There is a guide i WIKI.
yeah, I had to hard reset and lose my data
i also have the white screen. it just died one day, at the time i didnt even know about roms and i'd never heard of this site.
any help getting it mended would be well appreciated.
Hi Toppy,
Try pulling battery out, other than that, only thing to do is a hard reset.
Sorry
Details for a hard-reset should be easy to find on this board.
Great reason to backup frequently.
(I use PIMBackup 2.5 everynight at 4am and sbp backup twice a week at 4:30am)
a blank screen
heyy guys i have the same problem with my screen, i bought a new one in ebay, after installed the new screen, i turned on the phone, the screen works fine, but when i turned off the phone and change the sim card, then when i turned on the phone again the screen was in blank!!!
guys if you can help my please i will aprecite it!!! i cant live without a touch screen
Creation magic,
Did you follow my suggestions?
My phone gives me white screen every now and then when I reset it. I simply reset again and it's fine.
Seems to occur more frequently the longer I leave the phone without total formatting. (It's Windows - it needs ocassional formatting)
about my white screen
when i turn off the phone and turn on again my screen appears in blank but when i did a hard reset my screen works fine!! i don't really understand my htc 8525 hahaha he is crazy and the call button and end call button doesn't work.
thanks
thanks guys for help me and everyone here in this forum!!!
you're a real brainy guys
The screen, yesterday, became completely unresponsive. To complicate things, the phone is in the "locked" mode and apparently there isn't a button/soft key combination that will prompt you to unlock (using the touch screen is a necessity).
The tech guys at my local Verizon stated that the only course of action at this point is to perform a master reset. I don't mind doing this but I'd like to save my contacts and my calender items if possible. Unfortunately, I don't have Outlook so this data hasn't been synchronized.
Can anyone think of a way to get into the phone through ActiveSync (which can't connect I assume because it's locked) or perhaps a 3rd party app or alternative method? Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks,
Ashley

First off try soft reseting(poking the stylus inthe hole on the bottom of device) or taking out the battery
Secondly ActiveSync should still connect
When my screen went dead the first time, I used a product called MyMobile, which connects to your phone through your pc. Not sure if it will work in this case, but might be worth a shot.
if anyone has a solution for this, it would be great. I'm having the same problem!
Hello.
First post here and hoping someone out there has a solution for my issue.
My HD2 gets stuck on the "quietly brilliant" screen every time I try to boot it. The only thing which happened directly before was that the battery was low and it switched off. This has happened before, but usually when I plug it in to charge it can just turn back on, or if not plugged in then tries to turn on but turns off again. The amber light comes on when it's plugged in to the charger, and it has been charged for enough time that it should turn on as normal.
I'm not as tech-minded as most of you so I'm kinda fumbling around trying to make something work.
I have tried:
Soft reset (multiple times, at different points in the loading (ie when it has the red writing bottom left before freezing, during "quietly brilliant" animation, and after freezing.
Turning on with memory card out.
Turning on with sim card out.
Turning on while plugged into charger.
Turning on when plugged into usb.
The phone will not:
Boot fully
register when plugged into PC
But it will enter bootloader mode (did I get the right terminology? With the Colour banding?)
When in this mode it either displays "Serial" or "USB" (if connected to PC)
I'm desperately trying to avoid a hard-reset as I've spent quite a long time manually entering contacts etc which aren't backed up (all would be lost ) and getting twitter/youtube/facebook all that jazz set up, along with programs and BSB tweaks, Dutty's task manager etc etc set up.
Have also spent time changing the theme with HDWall, and removing curtains/backgrounds etc with the TOUCH X tweaks. I've finally got my phone just how I want it...the biggest thing, of course is losing all of my contacts though.
I just have a HTC rom installed (can't remember what it was called, but nothing fancy, just the normal one to replace my TMobile rom).
Would really appreciate some advice/insight into what is going on and what I can do to sort it. Please help!
N
p.s. yes, I realise it was very stupid to not back up contacts...really really stupid. That will be the first thing I do once this is sorted!!
Oh and it won't turn off using the hang-up button when it's frozen-I have to remove the battery.

If you use Exchange, all your contacts are stored in Exchange...which has the immediate benefit of backing them up, and the other benefit of making them sync with Outlook/OWA.

Hi there,
Thank you for your reply, I'll bear that in mind next time. But for now - how would I be able to check this? I'm really not sure if I set this up. Can I check it on my PC? I have Office 2007.
N
Ok...so I've found some of my contacts in my Outlook. Guess they weren't updated very recently but at least some are there. I can do a hard reset if I MUST...but please does anyone know of anything else I can try?
And if I leave it overnight is it best to leave it frozen/switched off/charging/battery out?
Will head off to bed soon as it's nearly midnight here and I've got work tomorrow.

Try to flash with another radio, you donĀ“t miss your contacts if you do.
Some roms block with some radios.
hope it solves your problem
Ok, I'm going to try it. Found the old .nbh file and it was the 1.66 rom. So just trying to find the right radio one now. Thank you for the tip
Have tried 2 different Radio versions now and still sticks on the same screen on satrtup...is it hard reset time?
Feel like I'm speaking to myself here!! Ah well!...an update. DId a hard reset, and my lovely HD2 is alive and well (albeit looking far too "fresh out of the box"). While I'm at it with nothing back...is there a "better" standard ROM than 1.66 to be using? Anything newer? I'm never sure about these things.
Thanks for your patience and consideration guys...I'm a bit of a noob girl when it comes to these things!
Sound like you've installed a customized ROM. If its the case try to find out what is the best Radio for that ROM and re-install it.
Hi.
ive had my omnia 7 (on orange) for a year now. ive never been totally happy with it but it has done and i dont actually thing that its miles behind other smart phones.
i never updated the phone for roughly 6-8 months, then when the mango update came out i decided that it would be best to update to that. all has been well since then untill a few days ago.
I went to go onto my messages. every time i clicked on my messages it returned me to the main screen. i tried several times every time the same thing happened. so i switched off my phone and turned it back on and both the messages app and my contact app had dissapeared off both the main screen and the apps screen. after a few minutes my contacts came back and had full functionality. but my message app didnt. then after a while i went to go onto my settings and could not get onto them it kept returning me to the main screen again.
i thought it would be a good idea to update it so i connected it to my computer and it updated but still didnt bring my messages back.
every time i turn off my phone the contacts app dissapears.
i can still recieve messages and if i go through contacts i can view and send messages. but if i dont know who sends me a message then i have to look through every contact. and if i dont have the person in my contacts i cannot find the message unless that send me another one and i manage to catch the notification on the top of the screen.
i have taken the phone to my local orange shop and they told me to look on the forums (great help they are i know).
so i come here looking for some help and hoping taht one of you great people can help me
thanks

i read somewhere that this is a bug and if you receive a certain sms then this happens. the only way to fix it was to reset your phone via the settings/about/reset. this will erase everything from the phone
Thanks for the quick reply. do you have any idea how i would do that on the computer? i cant access the setting on my phone.
You can format the phone trough the bootloader. To do it follow these steps:
1. Ensure your phone is charged at least 50% of it's full capacity as a power cut during a format operation could lead to unknown results.
2. Disconnect your phone from any power supply (usb to pc/charger)
3. Shutdown the phone by holding the power button till you see the "goodbye" message (otherwise you will force the shutdown)
4. Hold the volume down and camera keys and while holding them press the power button till you see a black screen with a yellow exclamation signal in the middle followed by a text asking you to format the device, release all buttons and now press the start button two times. Wait till you see the message "format done!" and your phone will restart automatically.
After these steps you should have your device restored to a working state

This is definitely that FB message bug. My friend got bricked due to it recently. It's probably a matter of time I'll pick it up too. MS should fix it soon, reflashing isn't few minutes job, so this is a problem. Not to mention possible losing of some important info. Well, we can only hope it will be fixed soon.
