Couldn't find a tun.ko module for the Droid anywhere so I built one. Loads fine on my Droid and I'm able to vpn into my company's Cisco VPN easily now using get-a-robot-vpnc.
tun.ko LG GW620
Hello,
This module dosen't work to GW620, how can I create one to my device?
Ah - You rock! I've been beating my head against this for way too long - that tun.ko worked like a charm. Thanks!
Now I can... get... work...
Pyrrhic victory aside, thanks

Anyone know where I can find a tun.ko for the Droid 2? Trying to set up VPN Connections for a colleague to connect to a Cisco VPN. I have it working on my X. Is a different tun file needed or would the same one work?
Thanks.
I'm relatively new to the whole android thing (as the droid 2 is my first droid phone), but my understanding is that because moto hasn't released the source yet, it is impossible to compile a tun.ko. The tun.ko for the droidx won't work because it is a different version of the kernel than the 2 is running (.29 vs .32, I think).
I've been looking for this as well, as I'm unable to connect to my work vpn over 3g (but works fine onw ifi), which is really the only thing that is making me miss my iphone at this point. Hopefully once moto releases the source, we'll get a tun.ko that will let us use the aftermarket vpn solution (rooted, of course).

I know this is an old thread, but I figured I would reply and say that I was able to get the one posted on this forum:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/motorola-milestone/79613-looking-tun-ko-motorola-milestone.html
working. Here is the direct link:
http://www.saturnwiki.net/droid_tun_driver/2.6.32.9/tun_alt.ko
This works for my kernel 2.6.32.9-g462500f.
Hope this helps someone.
Outstanding - I've been searching high and low for this info. However, what I don't know is how/where to load the file. I have a rooted Droid 2 running ApeX 1.0.2.5, so presumably, all I should need to do is get this tun.ko object dropped in the right place, set up openvpn.conf properly and it'll work. I'm not sure where to drop it though. Any hints?

I got the tun.ko from this location, and I am having the same problem that the person on droidforums was having - I can make a connection, but I am not getting a DHCP address from my server.
Did you have this problem at all? I can't figure out if the tun.ko file isn't compatible, or if my configuration is wrong. (And I tested my configuration on a Windows machine - it works fine).
Ok so I'm sure there are others that would like to get vpnc widget working I have looked at links and none are clear to me. Need help
wrong area this needs to be moved to general area
I posted it here because I was hoping developers would see this. The standard VPN that honeycomb offers doesn't work with Cisco IPSec XauthUsername/XAuthPassword. My Vibrant has the VPNC widget and works fine. I have installed the tun.ko file and tried with openvpn/ vpnc widget and no go.
we dont just stay in this area. i go even to the acc. area a few times a day and i know others do also. and when a fix is found some1 will post the fix here. this goes for every1 if u post in the correct area u get helped fast. dont pm some1 unless it states to. dont make multiple post with the same question or fix. this goes for any and every forum. im not attacking u or anyone just giving food for thought. i cant help as i dont have this tab any more

Ok I don't know how to move the post . I'm very new to posting. Any help much appreciated...

I opened a thread earlier today.. so far no joy, and we are going from ipsec to ssl..
so I imagine its just openvpn and a bunch of coinfig..
but you need to start with the tun.ko module, found in another thread
VPN
thanks for briefing!
thanks for the help!!! You guys are awesome!!
Hi everyone
as many many other users, I'm looking for a solution to enable ad-hoc networks with many failed attempts...
the only obstacle that faced all devs on all forums is that they can't produce working wpa_supplicant as they can't edit the appropriate source code for our tablets,
now, devs CAN view the ICS source code via samsung OSRC :
http://opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=search&searchValue=GT-P5113
can any 'super talanted' developer make a working ICS wpa_supplicant that can view ad-hoc networks for us?
:good: folks, if you need this too, reply the poll shown above to show developers how many need this
So I guess you all don't need adhoc anymore seems like I'm the only one need this!! forget it devs :\
I have a general idea what ad hoc is but maybe not the whole picture. So can someone please explain why I would need that capability? It seems ICS has included ways to connect devices together to share files, internet, multiplayer gaming.
Edit- Just did a search and have a better understanding but still dont quite get why or what it would be used for.

Technically speaking, ad-hoc networks does not need (infrastructure) to operate, like routers, access points ... etc,
in general, we can say it's a state in which all devices have the same status and communicate with each other freely without routing or so,
In my case, it's just too simple that I need to get my GT-P5113 tablet tethered with my Nokia phone
unfortunately, the stupid Symbian OS of Nokia can generate ad-hoc networks only, so if I take my tablet outside without an available wifi-hotspot (most of time), the only option is tethering with my phone to get connected ...
there were many patches for the earlier android versions, but for ICS still no one could make a working wpa_supplicant patch to enable it,
the obstacle was that we couldn't reach the 'source' of samsung ICS used on our tablets, now samsung released it ... but seems like no one interested in this feature anymore
I still am interested in ad hoc on the tablet and also on the same boat for tethering with my Nokia (N8 FTW). I've been looking frantically for a solution even rooted it 3 days after purchase hoping I can enable the ad hoc.
Would switching to a custom rom solve this problem??
There's also patch made by Polish dev Szym who found that method. Patch automatically make changes in the wpa_supplicant source, but we need someone who know how coding and building from android source.
I already sent to szym question about help, he don't yet mail me back so I waiting for the answer atm.
Patch can be found here - szym.net/2010/12/adhoc-wifi-in-android/
Im only not soure if it support ICS, coz guide was written long time ago...
If someone would be able to undertake this, I'll be glad for modified wpa_supplicant to GT-P3110 as well.
opensource.samsung.com/reception/receptionSub.do?method=search&searchValue=GT-P3110
I hope we manage it soon, stay tuned.

Keep us updated.
I have a hunch the patch is not for ics because it was made a good while ago. If someone can just have the modified wpa file which works with ics to catch ad hoc signal, that would be fantastic. I wonder what changed in ics that made all modded wpa file not working.
Ad Hoc GT2 7 FTW!!!

Has there been any progress on this? I'm desperately looking for a solution.
Hey folks. I am running ICS 4.0.3 on a rooted TpT. I am trying to pair a PS3 sixaxis controller to my tablet. My local bluetooth address is displayed by sixaxis app as FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF. I cannot get the controller to pair to that address. Feeling this was the issue i used ES File Explorer app to view system/etc/bluetooth/bdaddr the address there is not FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF but is same format with numbers. Does anyone have an idea why it isnt coming up as it is displayed in the system file? Any help would be greatly appreciated. PS if you could tell im a tech dummy so simple terms who be great. Thanks in advance.
anyone know if this will help?

Hi, i got a generic android tablet momo8 and the front camera works like a mirror and I need it to work like a laptop does cos im working on a website that reads qr codes and it works fine in laptops but the android tablets wont read it correctly. I was wondering if maybe modifying the camera.apk it could work but i dont know much of java to do so and I need it kinda urgently to present it working to some potential client. If somebody could help ill be more than happy ...if someone know of an app that changes that mirror function it will be even better.
Thanks in avance.

Exactly what do you mean by "working like a laptop" ?? ... If it's not reading QR Codes... then there is NOTHING to do with the camera.apk ... It's related to the HARDWARE (maybe the camera quality/resolution is not good enough) ...
