If you are using an app like root explorer or even es file explorer with root options enabled you have to make sure your system is mounted R/W before you can make changes.

Allshare

Hello i have the kyrollos 3.1 editon and cant install allshare.
Can somewone tell me how to install??
Thanks a lot
XxxTarkanxxx
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA Premium App
get the deodexed apps of ur original firmware
search for the allshare apk file
root ur phone
get root explorer or any other root enabled file explorer
copy the .apk file to system/app and reboot ur phone
Kyrillos v4 final:
I tried to install the dlna.apk with Easy Installer (message: not installed). Then I tried to move the apk with File Expert directly into the system/app folder where all other apk where. It did tell me that it is handling this copy but nothing appeared in this folder...
Tried it again with File Manager but he wouldn't let me Paste the file into the folder...
What next? Any ideas?
Thanks
did u enable R\W mode???
good question. I just realized that the folder is still on read-only.
I tried to use terminal emulator and type "chmod 755 ./system/" to change the rights but I got "unable to chmod system. read-only file system"...
So what did I miss?
use the built in switcher in root explorer or other file managers( e-strongs or astro) i know both have r\w toggle
or goto data\app and paste it there
u need to manually change permissions for each folder
So with root explorer I just go to the folder and change the rights into r/w?
If I understood correctly I need to change the rights first in system then in app, right?
Root Explorer rocks
I managed to change the rights (with "Mount R/W") andthis changed the rights also for the subfolders. Then I pasted the dlna.apk file into the app folder. Then I changed the rights back to r/o.
After reboot it took some time to get everything up again, and all my apps where again unsorted on the different screens.
The file is still in the folder but no allshare application in my programs....
So I copied the file into the data/app folder...
Reboot (didn't take a long time) still no app there...
What now?
Maybe someone knows another app from the market which can do the same thing, also for Samsung and other brands?
Thanks
did u get the deodexed apps from JPM rom or any other
& what do u allshare for???
I downloaded the dlna.apk from the internet and tried to install it with easy installer. I'm not sure whether it is from JPM How can I find out?
I want to use allshare with a Samsung TV.
Having flashed Kyrillos ROM.
Was that the question?
try imediashare or samsung remote
free from market
Download system app+framework file from kyrillos rom post n copy dlna file to system/app using root explorer!

Unable to see System/App directory on S4

I am using the native built-in fileapp (My Files) on my S4 GTi9505 and I cannot see the System/APP folder or directory.
When I had ES File explorer, then I was able to see those system files.
The reason I took off ES File Explorer, is because I did not need to have two file managers on my phone. Its just waste of space.
And I think the native My Files app is much user friendy and has a nice GUI.
I am not planning to tweak anything of the System folders in there, I just want to check out something.
Is there a hidden folder option that might be enabled or something?
Thanks!

Well Stock file manager will have linited options only and u have to use 3rd party file manger to see those files like es file / solid explorer / root file manager etc
and ya too edit there u need Root also
Are you serious? Why on earth would Samsung let you access or even view the protected system folders on their stock file manger? Silly

Use Root Explorer. The default Samsung file manager will never allow you to access root/sensitive partitions and folders. Anyway, external file manager apps don't really occupy alot of space.

System Permissions

Ok, I am rooted on a stock rom. I cannot get access to edit anything in the system/app folders. Of course, cannot get Adaway to work properly because of this. Other root apps work just fine. Ideas/
Thanks

What file manager are you using? I am having trouble with se file explorer to complete root actions, however total commander works fine if you mount the system folder as RW
Hmm root works just fine for me with ad away. i even used es file explorer to get to system part and add stuff to the ringtones directory so i dont have to have them show up in my media players. I am using the 2.52 beta root.

Android 11: Can't see folders with external file explorer

Hi,
if i try to see a sub-folder of Android, my external file explorer (Solid explorer, Root explorer) only show an empty folder. The folder i try to see is this: Android/data. Are there certain restrictions of Android 11, which external explorer can't deal with? I don't have this problem with the intermal explorer and - surprise, surprise - with Total Commander (which i don't like so much...).
Anybody knows a solution or workaround to let other explorers look into these Folders?
Cheers
Clark
Seems like Google decided to restrict access to the Android/Data folder to "approved" applications.
Some other users said that Google Files (what a surprise) and Samsung Files work properly.
I usually use a root explorer, wich works fine, but otherwise most file managers probably won't be able to access the folder for a while.
Add MiXplorer and SD Maid to the list of working file managers. Hoping Solid Explorer gets updated soon!
I'm using root explorer just fine
I am rooted so if you're not then just root is easy

Try Solid Explorer and check if you see /sdcard/Android/Data/. Some file managers work and others don't even if you are rooted.

I'll be honest mate I've never needed anything else since root explorer was released.
Absolutely hate solid lol. Only other one I used to use was called Linda I think, G1 days
Xplore works, Solid Explorer 2.88 works as well
Using some of the recommended file explorers above didn't work for /sdcard/Android/Data/. Most of them were able to see /internal/Android/Data/ though. My Note 10+ wasn't rooted, and I wasn't planning on rooting due to the downfalls. I was able to see the files by mounting the SD card in Windows.
Mixplorer works great for me right now.

Yeah that's the last one I tried before mounting it to the PC. Now the question is which of these file explorers I should keep and finally replace ES File Explorer.

My vote would be Mixplorer. They have a few different themes, as well as add ons.

This was extremely helpful in restoring a SMS backup of the database, thank you for recommending it!
