Hi, I use a J2ME program (through Jbed) to send SMS using an internet connection. The program sends just 1 KB per session, so I should pay only 1€cent per GPRS connection. But I noticed that for every connection a program called "System" sends 1.2KB of data, so I pay 2/3cents per connection instead of 1. Why does this program use the connection? To send/receive what? How can I block this program access the internet?
Thank you very much!
Can anyone help me, please?
sounds like the OS send some data to init data connection and to keep it alive
I thought that too, but is there a way to stop this? I used the same J2ME program on a Nokia Symbian phone, and I used to pay just 1cent. So I think Symbian doesn't need to send extra data. Why does Windows Mobile do?

Hello.
I need your help since my Atom is lauching the GPRS connection without any instruction to do that.
I closed all the resident memory programs but still go on dialing!
How can I avoid the connection start withouth promptin it or only if I need it?
Thank You
Regards
There must be some program you have installed that's initiating it. I would suggest that you did a hard reset (after backing up your documents and contacts, of course) and then install program after program, testing a while after the installation, to see what the offenting app is.
same problem for me
Moved to proper section
Main reason
EMAIL - once an account is setup it will auto connect to internet for new email, default every 2 hours, but Windows Mobile do not disconnect GPRS after trying to get new mails.
ACTICE SYNC - if you have setup connection to EXCHANGE SERVER eg, google push server.
wil also auto connect all the time
Down side of Microsoft is that they didnt design to disconnect after trying to get email like Symbian(Nokia) do. so other manufacture will offer to design their comm manager to disable data auto connection but O2 & Quanta didnt go to the extend to offer this function back then.
Download NoData from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467813
toggle to DISABLE GPRS
this will stop auto connection to GPRS but it may stop receiving MMS as MMS also require GPRS connection.
Is there a good aim client that uses sms to send info instead of data connection i'm not on the data plan but would like to have aim on my phone.
hi i had a question is their a program that could connect me to my data plan instead of always having to open up internet exploerer and pull up a web site? thx in advanced
That's the problem of the application you use...
Most applications can connect to GPRS automatically when needed.
Hi, just wondering if there is any app that will block all applications from accessing the internet thru data connection (not wifi), unless given express user approval - like a zonealarm popup or something? I hope something like this exists, as I want to make sure I don inadvertently connect since I only get 10 megs a month...
Any suggestions much appreciated!!
Install the Modaco Nodata cab file (http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=66173&d=1200491671)
Then you can toggle (on/) off the connection you dont want to use
Hay all,
Is there a prog or somewhere on the phone that has a counter for the mobile internet usage?
I basicly get 500MB of free usage a month from Oranage (mobile internet / Packet Data) You know what you use to go on wap sites / MSN an things.
But I can't find anywhere on the phone a counter for it.
This is worrying as I don't wanna go over the usage allowance as on my old Nokia it gave you a "packet Data" counter for Sent & Recieved data amounts.
Thanks
I use this.

I've dowloaded the trial of this but I got a question.
It tracks both Internet Explore & Opra's usage but it doesn't show the usage of MSN Messenger / Live.
Is there a way for it to track that too or does it go under a diffrent file name? As there are some exe files also using the wirless connection when active.
