Hay all,
Is there a prog or somewhere on the phone that has a counter for the mobile internet usage?
I basicly get 500MB of free usage a month from Oranage (mobile internet / Packet Data) You know what you use to go on wap sites / MSN an things.
But I can't find anywhere on the phone a counter for it.
This is worrying as I don't wanna go over the usage allowance as on my old Nokia it gave you a "packet Data" counter for Sent & Recieved data amounts.
Thanks
I use this.

Thanks bud - Altho was really looking for a freeware one just to count the MB send n recieved - that 1 looks complicated lol - thanks anyways
Not sure there is a freeware version. I also use SPB Monitor, very useful
If there is a freeware version I would love to get my hands on it!! Anyone??
I have one of Chi Tai's plug ins to monitor data - Homescreen Plus Plus I think it is. (free!)

I've dowloaded the trial of this but I got a question.
It tracks both Internet Explore & Opra's usage but it doesn't show the usage of MSN Messenger / Live.
Is there a way for it to track that too or does it go under a diffrent file name? As there are some exe files also using the wirless connection when active.

I am using SPB's GPRS traffic counter and have noticed that without my doing anything, my Jam will download around 100k of data every day (around £0.25 on Vodafone). I can just about survive the financial shock ;-) but I am more worried to know how control connections in general.
Does anyone know what programs on the Jam keep a GPRS connection alive? (I am not using MS Messenger, nor do I have either MS Explorer, the e-mail application or Activesync runnig in the background).
cheers.
I see that you have checked the usual suspects how about MMS this uses GPRS as well maybe you received some? The application you mention (SPB GPRS Monitor) does not tell you which application uses GPRS?
unfortunately is not the mms client - I stopped its installation after a hard reset.
I even go as far as killing off the messaging app and internet explorer with the memory control panel to make sure they don't accidentally run in the background.
my guess is a leaky tcp/ip stack, but i'm still looking for ways of controlling outgoing packets...

I too have the same Issue. Orange billed me for 2.5MB of data. I aint used the darn thing for GPRS.
Alternetives for SPB GPRS Monitor !?
Does anyone have any alternetives for SPB GPRS Monitor. This program makes the OS on my i-mate JAM very unstabele. So I had to remove this program.
I hope someone can help me pointing to a good alternetive app ! I also couldn't find an application like a SMS counter. Any idea's ?
Thanks for your help and kind regards,
R.
I NEVER leave GPRS connected. I always 're-connect and cancel' to drop my connection after getting email headers ....
However....
one day, in one session at 12noon I racked up £17 with 02. They can not explain it and I was sitting at my desk at work with the XDA docked at the time!!! (with internet pass through if needed!)
This is worse than premium rate calls (which are closely monitored) ... all 02 can say is that at 12noon I downloaded over 7mb !! end of story! no more details. I don't know how it is possible unless it connected to their stupid movie portal and downloaded a massive trailer on it's own? - which I would of noticed!
Well I have a complaint in with them. Just think how many people could get stung (and I know what i'm doing!)
I'm now going to try the above mentioned GPRS counter, but has anyone tried this one ? .... http://www.all-locations.com/ GPRS Traffic Counter v3.2

Do you have a programme such as SPB Pocket Weather.. or any of those 'weather related' today pluggins?... as they connect via GPRS to download latest weather etc..
Hope you find the mischievous programme!

HI there
I am wonder If anyone could answer me .PLS
I want to you use one Instant Messenger ,IM+ or Agilemessenger by my Wizard but I donot know :
1-which one is better to use for YAHOO ?
2-how much DATA via GPRS they transfere for Login and for PM ?
for measure I'v used SPB gprs Monitor and PhoneAlarm 1.26 .
I used IM+4.04 trial for Login it use 32K and seems for PM 1 till 2K
and Agile used more than for 60k just for Login .
BUT:
-- it is VERY strang because with my NOKIA 6600 with Agile messenger it uses just 3K for login and for 1 hour chat just uses 40 -60K from GPRS data usage .
-- GPRS data counters are differnt between PSB GPRS and Phone Alaram  not too much but it something to count . (I am sure settings are right )
any Idea Or better softewares ??
with lots of Thanks
BaBi
how much does it cost per mb?
I prefer mChat that is the best
I am currently on Vodafone with a Qtek 9100 in UK. I have rang vodafone to try and find out but they dont know so im assuming some clever people on here will know....
If i connect thru GPRS and chat on msn, say for 1 hour...how much data will be downloaded / used?? because Vodafone charge £2.50 per MB..
thanks
depends how much you chat
your best option is to use a GPRS monitor (SPB?) and keep an eye on your useage
You get a GPRS monitor app with the QTEK9100. Just install it and set it up, set a warning alarm when it reaches a particular amount of data (or cost).
also I have found that its better from a cost point of view to ue agile as opposed to msn messenger.

I am fairly new to these devices. Just got the O2 Xda Mini S as a free upgrade on my current contract. I have not had any problems as of yet with it but the one thing i have yet to figure out is how to check how much data is being transferred. I play around on the web and check emails a lot and want to see how much data i am using as i believe it is £3 a meg. so does anyone know how to check your usage. thanks alot
you would need a gprs counter, i dont think the Mini ships with one, the older xda IIi did, check to see if it is on one of the cd's or not, if not you could buy spb gprs monitor (check mobile 5 compatibilty first) which will do the job.
If you check the XDA Mini S Application CD - you'll see that it contains SPB's GPRS Monitor.

hello,
i was wondering if there are any IM free apps for tmo wing, the oz messenger is horrible i think, its very slow, i get like 10 minutes delays between my messages. I was wondering if there are any AIM programs out there that use only sms? with out going online if thats possible , i dont rle know much about phones and stuff, or maybe a different program thats maybe faster or somehow better then the OZ messenger. thx in advance

You will love it.
My favorite IM program is Palringo. http://www.palringo.com
It connects to everything. It doesn't use up that much memory. It plays nicely if you want it to run all the time. You have to sign up with them, but I've gotten 0 emails from them and they work on the concept of freeware. Check it out.
i'm trying palringo, it seems like it will be nice, but it will not let me sign on to AIM. it says that i have been connecting and disconnecting too frequently. but i have never even signed on. every time i click on AIM then change my status to online it says logging in then that i've been connecting and disconnecting too frequently. any suggestions?
keep trying.. after 3 or 4 attempts, it should connect
palringo requires you to have a browser connection to be online.
sooo
does the free aim program on the wing run from the wifi network... or does it charge u on the edge network?? because i was using webmessenger on the wifi i think and wasnt sure if it was actually usuing it on the edge network... and i really dont wanna be charged for the edge network so can i jus use wifi whenever i wanna use aol instant messenger with a free program downloaded to my wing.. ?
u dnt get charge for edge unless you u have a data plan. dnt listen to tmobile. their internet is not like other networks pay-for-use instead it get a data plan or get dnt get sh!t. i recommend getting tzones 5.99 dnt worry wat tmobile say about it (than i help you set it up so u can use it with the best software like im+ & aim 2.0 "offical aol software") pm me
i posted this but someone took it down what i said before is the OZ im suite that comes with the tmobile wing you can find it in the .cabs for wing thread i think just reinstall that .cab i use it for aim alone. it also offers icq and yahoo but i prefer to just use the text version of yahoo... All over a gprs connection which means no added charges ( if you have unlimited texts that is )
