I have a Jade Black edition, made HSPL, tried some cooked ROMs (megade, pdaviet, spacejade etc), but i have the feeling that battery lasts much more with the stock ROM, with cooked ones it drains faster, am i right?
Can someone move this to ROM Development section, cause here i dont get replies, i think there will be more effective to discuss this
yes, i share your sentiment. my jade's battery drains faster with the cooked ROM. could it be an inherent symptom that exists in WinMo 6.5?

I dont know buddy, with most of the cooked 6.5 ROMs battery goes faster than with original ROM, at the moment i am using "pdaviet V24" and i can say for now battery is good
Hi buddy, i am now using pdaviet's v27 ROM. the battery draining problem is apparent. i have turned off 3G signal (since i dun really need that) and am using GSM only, this prolongs the battery life. hope a newer version of the ROM will solve this prob.
It prolongs but not so much of a difference. With the stock ROM i had 6 days of battery, with pdaviet i had 4 days without using WiFi or GPS, so i returned my stock ROM and waiting for another cooked one with long battery life

six days? how is it possible? full charging of my jade lasts for max 3 days. no gps, no wi-fi, "receive incoming beams" turned off.

Hey guys,
Quick ?. On my wing, with the stock tmo rom, the battery life is awesome, when I run the herald 6.1 rom, it goes to crap, I have to charge it every day.. Is the 6.5 any better? Or, what would you suggest?

I only used 6.5 for a few days, but from my observation, it's not getting any better in battery life. It may got worse since more cpu intensive. In theory and from my experience, 6.1 and the stock rom should have similar battery life. It might be your rom. Some roms (not to attack the cooks, do get angry at me) may have bugs the kill battery faster than others. So my recommendation is to try another rom. A clean one always best. Another thing to try is to use homescreen++'s dynamic cpu scaling. Could save you some battery to under-clock for non-essential time. Someone says this helps and some says no. So try it and have fun.
what roms / radios will give me the best battery life. currently running ahens latest rom with radio 2.08.50.05. battery life is good, have used nrgs roms in the past and they seem to drain my batt within a day of hardly any use.
2.09 radio seems best, as does 1.72 base and 218*** WM builds. look for roms like those.
Laurentius's ultimate power has great battery life. But most are ok for HD2. There are very few stinkers, and most battery life issues are due to 16GB cards - avoid roms with the documents/e-reader tabs to be sure of better battery life.
does a 16gb effect it that much because i am using one of those!
thanks for the tip!

I would think that it might be an indexing service that are doing this powerdrain, if this is the case - Maybe killing indexing service on SD card would improve battery performance ?

that would mean that EVERY sd-card drains battery?! or is it ONLY 16gb?

Reading and writing data on the mem card will use energy... if it's idle though i don't think it will.
shouldn't the indexing be done on only the first boot if it is done anyway?
There are quite a few people complaining about battery dain caused by the memory cards.
The most simple test is proven to start the phone without a memory card. is it better then reformat the card in the phone. copy the files on it and try again. If that not works search for corrupt files on the card. especially music.
the indexing serviceisgion wild on some phones. shutting it down solves the problem.
use the search of the forum on these things and you will find quite a few threads about this subject
Mem cards are all power hungery especially if you have your apps installed to them. Internal memory is more efficient, faster and uses less power.

+1 ... this is the only difference for me till now
On Radio 2.09 using Ahenf series ROM took off charge this morning at 7:15 now 13:10 and its on 73% which is a big improvement over other ROMS I have tried Also the icon set on this ROM, Stability and performance is great. Only downside Marketplace doesn't work. Which I don't use anyway
Using the setup in my sig
charge overnight, took out from charger at 6:15, did moderate to high web-browsing and turned on wifi router for bout 15 mins. Battery now at 22:10 61%

good shout i am really enjoying Ahens ROMS what is the radio you are using the long version 2.09.51.05 or whatever it is?
I've searched the thread but few people seem to comment on battery for Artemis whereas it always gets praised on Ultimate Power. Anyone using it?

Used this before Ahens ROM and in my experiance battery drained quite quickly. Lasting longer and longer now after two charges.
Using ultimate power 4 and can get 3 days from rom with moderate calls

Using 2.09.51.03_2 still running over 25 hours now used for calls about 1 hour, 70ish texts, 20 mins of GT2 on FPSece over 1 hour music playback and about 45 mins of internet on 30% still
just remember that roms like energy's will run down more quickly because the backlight is set so high.
Once you reduce it to 40%/60% battery/external things DO even out. But even then 576MB rom will use more juice esp if you load the memory up.
The more you use the device, the less you will notice differences - because use is use no matter how good a rom is. It's in standby where the tweaks shine.
I personally found Artemis < Dutty's HG < Energy < Ultimate Power.
BUTBUTBUT - we're talking about a few extra percent overnight, or a little during the day. For instance from 2days of moderate use to 2days with a bit more left for the third, but not completely.

couldnt agree more i loved nrgs roms just killed the batt, updated radio last nite and have used as normal this morning from full charge, calls, texts, email, facebook and heavy internet use, still on 80%.... 30% more than usual!
Good morning everyone! I have a t-mobile with the original ROM and I wonder if there is any Rom or Radio that consumes less battery than the original ROM?

You could use a modified stock one that uses less resources, and maybe the 2.12.50.02_2 as people have been reporting it uses less battery.
Well, my experience is that the stock rom tends to be the most efficient as far a battery life goes. This is something I verified in many of the phones I've owned.
However, I've been a fan of the Core Cell ROM on my TP2 and these roms served me very well, but when I got my HD2 I found the battery life under the beautiful Core Cell roms to be really poor. for example: I would leave my HD2 on my night stand for 5 hours (with mail push off) and I would find it later at a 40-45% charge level. This was the constant pattern even after a couple of weeks of use.
Then, I tried the Elegancia ROM V3 and the battery life I had experienced with the stock T-Mobile rom came back. I have since upgraded to Elegancia version 4 and I have not regretted it... even though I sorely miss the Core Cell roms, their added eye candy and the extra 2 manila tabs it offers.
I did not try the Energy ROM on my HD2 because my experience with these ROMs on my TP2 indicated a not so good battery life with that device already.
Cheers;
So I am thinking of making the switch from 21xxx to 23xxx and I read somewhere that I will see a increase in battery life by doing so while staying with the same cooks roms.
Does anyone have an opinion on this? Will the newer windows builds really help my batter life assuming the same usage throughout the day???
Thank you,
Jeff

Jeff, I'm was the energy 23138 sept 23 standard rom and 2.14.50.x radio. i was getting anywhere between 24 and 36 hours on a standard size battery. I am a heavy user and when i'm at home my wifi is always on, i surf the internet a lot and if i'm out i've normally got the music player going. I also have the facebook tab updating every hour as well as my location. I also use the gps quite a bit.
So i would say the battery life is good but i can't compare it to 21916 as i have never used that series of builds and it's been a very long time since i used a stock rom, so again i can't compare.
My advise would be to try it out for a few days and see if you notice the difference but i have to say i am very pleased. I've just finished flashing and configuring 21619 sept 24 so it will be a couple of days before i can get a comparison between 23138 and 21619 (as you will have seen from the enrgy rom thread these are both 6.5.x builds) but i'm not expecting much difference considering that they use the same drivers from the 3.14 tmous base and the radio hasn't changed between the two.
A plus point though, seeing as you use the energy roms, is that xda_uc will still be able to import all your settings if you go for the same "flavour" rom i.e standard for standard or cht for cht (unless you pick the new cht2 builds then your cht settings are not compatible)

Can someone tell me how this is possible? I've had my HD2 for about 4 months now and if I don't charge it daily it's dead the next day. I'm using the new 2.14 radio and Miri HD2 WM6.5 (21916) ROM V 19.1. I have Exchange and weather on auto update and everything else is on manual update. Any pointers is a big plus. Thanks.
BTW I've tried the 23138 but I can't stand the over-sized buttons on the bottom. It's just absolutely hideous to me so I have no idea if it gets better battery life.

Extended size battery (the one that needs the different battery cover), auto disconnecting data connections, and not really using it very much at all
thanks guys for your reply, man it sure sounds like I am sucking as far as battery goes, my usage is a fraction of yours and I can barely get 20 hours. I think part of my problem is that at work, I have poor service, going in and out of coverage as I walk around the building. I have to turn off 3g and I barely have edge. I am currently trying duttys cream de la cream now 6.5.x to see if is any different. man, if I had your battery life, I would never flash again! I have latest radio, tried many, and the 3.14 rom.
I will let you know how this one goes.
jeff
I really don't believe some of you about the absolutely ridiculous battery life. Especially if you are heavy user, no way! I've seen lots of HD2's (different ROM's/Radios/battery charging methods) and I want to tell people on this board that they don't need to be worried if their battery is dead after a long working day with heavy use. So, don't believe too much fairy tales and enjoy your wonderful phone.

It does seem a little crazy huh? I hear that some Iphone users can go three days with pretty heavy use and a few that I have talked to say that thier iphone can barely last 10 hours. There seems to be a ****load of variability in current consumption amongst all variants of smart phones.
I would just be pleased to get from 5am to 11am with moderate use, without having to buy that brick battery with the built in kickstand.
I will give this current rom a week to see how the battery settles down, ignore the sig, it is the Dutty CDLC V17 with the 2.14 radio.
Jeff
Over the Last couple of days I have been using the stock MIUI rom, it ran supurb and very fast and stable and with the gingerbread theme for MIUI it looked very nice. And battery life for me was incredable using it normally like I do and at the end of the day maybe be around 55-65% left.
I now have moved onto the CM7 rom as wanted more of a stock like phone and read it is very good but from full battery within an hour it is almost 30% BT is not on as know there is a common no sense rom issue.
Although this is easily fixed by just switching back I wandered if anyone knew any stock like roms with good battery performance? or should I just stick with miui?
Im using a Euro HD2, and think its the 2.15 radio
You are using HTC HD2?

You are using HTC HD2? If yes, it's normal. Almost all android roms draining batteries very quickly... And MIUI drains the battery additionally...
I do realise that the MIUI roms drain the battery lol only at a much slower rate all my question was, is there a stock rom that drains it at a similar rate so it lasts say a days use instead of an hour
Also why are the CM7 mods the worst offenders at the min ?

go to market, and download currentwidget. put the phone on standby (turn off BT and GPS) let it sit for a minute, go to currentwidget and see how many mA is showing. if it's 3-7mA on standby, then it's normal.
You should try get your hands on MDJ's Cyanogen Mod 2.6. I thought that had great battery for a CM7 ROM. You won't find it here on XDA as MDJ's work is banned but a little google should do the try.
It comes with the stock launcher but it's pretty easy to download your preferred launcher.
