Sync Hotmail folders with live? - HD2 General

Ok, so i have stopped using the Sense messaging app because its slow and cumbersome, it also does not delete messages from the server when told to, niether does it store messages in the sent box or sync the folders correctly.
So i am now using live, but it also does not sync my hotmail folders properly, i have all the folders, but there is nothing in ones that should be, what am i missing?

Hotmail Sub folders
I have a similar problem. I have my hotmail email account added. It downloads emails from my inbox when i tell it to BUT it doesn't DL emails from my other folders. I have email auto sorted in to various folders when it comes in so all E-Shopping stuff goes in one folder, bills in another etc etc. SO currently the email on here is kinda useless to me as all the most important emails i get are auto sorted to folders other than the inbox. Anyone know if there is a way to make it get the contents of the other folders.

Menu > Tools > Manage folders (then tick which folders you want to sync) is how i did it in WiMo 6.1
Not got my Leo yet - but i'm assuming it'll be the same?

Yes thats it, just found it, but you have to let Windows Live setup your account, if you do it manually it does not work, cus i just spent to weeks trying
Microsoft are weird

At the risk of appearing really stupid where? I go to the mail tab and press menu i get
New Mail
Add Account
Account Settings
Send/Receive
None of those options seem to show anything helpful.
I guess i am being a little blind but further pointer would be helpful lol
Update: Okay i am an idiot. Go to the inbox hit menu and scroll the menu up lol! Cheers guys

New Question
Okay that's working BUT i just did a test and when i get an email to a folder other than the Inbox it doesn't notify me that i have a new email. Its there if i go and check that folder but its kind of a pain if i can't get it to notify me.
Is this a problem you guys have? Is there a setting i can change? Or am i just gonna have to learn to check the other folders on occasion?

Not sure what you mean by email to other folder, all mine go to the inbox

I have my hotmail account set up to automatically sort email. So basically if i get a email from @amazon.com it goes straight into my Online shops folder. Any emails from social networks get sorted in to a social networks folder, bills in my Bills folder etc. Helps keep things tidy and easier to sort through.
So when i get a new email it only goes in my inbox if its not caught by my various filters. So a large number of my emails wont go to the inbox.

Oh god knows then, i would not have a clue hehe

I am running the Stock Rom - 1.43.206.4 (70315) WWE - How can I upgrade this to the version bzdemes is running?
Also I do not have the option to click on synch folders when using my hotmail account - so can only view contents of my Inbox but nothing in any of the other folders.
Thanks in advance for your assistance

It's nothing to do with his ROM version. It's standard Outlook functionality.
If you want to select which folders to sync, go the mail tab, click Inbox, Menu, Tools (scroll down to find it) and Manage Folders.
To view different folders, go to the inbox (as above), and click the "Inbox" dropdown in the top left. You can select any folder to view from there.
The only thing you can't do is change your default folder for the Sense mail tab. This is ALWAYS the inbox, but that's really as it should be.
Hope this helps

GMail Inbox not working

Problem status: fixed?
For some reason GMail Inbox doesn't work properly on my HTC Magic (Vodafone)
If I get new mail it shows up on gmail.com but it doesn't arrive in my Magic's Inbox, and doesnt give me any notifications.
The are the only two ways to get the new mail on my phone:
a) Use the "All Messages"-Label - the new messages show up there, but I get no notification whatsoever.
Also I have to get to the "All Messages"-Label every time I start GMail
or
b) Go to "Settings" -> "Labels" -> Set sync from "4 days" to "all" -> Go back and hit refresh (or wait for autosync).
This only works ONCE. If I want to receive mail again I have to repeat the whole procedure (go to settings, labels, etc.. you get the idea)
Phone Details:
HTC Magic (Vodafone, out-of-the-box-Rom)
Apps installed: Battery Widget, Toggle Settings, some Toggle Widgets (Ringer, Brightness, Bluetooth, Wifi), Advanced Task Manager Lite, Estongs File Explorer, StreamFurious, Any Cut, SMS Popup, Shazam, Gmote 2.0, some games
Tried the whole thing on a clean install - didn't work either (took me 1 hour to reinstall and reconfigure everything - yay...)
Possible solution:
Go to application settings and delete the cache for "Speicherplatz bei GMail" ("GMail Storage" in english?). This worked for me the first time.
On another phone I had to disable the automatic gmail sync, wait a day, then delete the cache and re-enable gmail sync.
Ok, it seems I am not the only one having this problem. Using google I found 3 other posts in forums descirbing the same problem with GMail on Android:
- New Mails don't appear in "Inbox" (therefore no notification)
- Mails can be shown when you click "All Mail" / "All Items", they even have the "Inbox"-Label there

Unfortunatly there was no solution posted to this problem yet anywhere.
Here are some pics so everyone really knows what I'm talking about. Interface is in german, but that shouldn't be too much of a problem. Some translations:
Posteingang = Inbox
Alle Nachrichten = All Messages
test mofo, WTF = Me being annoyed by the Inbox not working properly

anyone? .
Ok, I don't really know why but Gmail works now. All I did was switch the settings in Gmail and the Sync settings like a billion times and after a week it just worked.
Here are the settings I ended up with:
Auto Sync On
Sync Gmail Yes
Sync Inbox: All
I've got the very same problem on a Galaxy. I have reset the device several times, deleted the gmail, google apps and other storages. Everything I tried just fixed the issue for exactly one sync. The next message would again go to "Alle Nachrichten".
I think the problem started after I switched the google account on the device. Have you done something like that, too?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Kind regards,
Felix
ok, i found a possible solution for this (see first post)

None of my google calendars can be added in the calendar!

Hi,
I'm running Donut Unofficial v1.2.0 + Google Patch (unofficial) on an N21 / DSTL1.
I have a real problem that none of my Google calendars are showing up on the calendar program. When I go to 'my calendars' an click on add, there's nothing in the list for me to add to 'default' which appears to be the non-synced local calendar. I have 4 calendars that I need to sync. I tried making a new one to see if that made any difference - it didn't.
I've tried clearing the calendar data and rebooting as per several forum suggestions. I'm at a blank otherwise - is there some setting in gcal that I'm missing - it's like none of the calendars are being synced with the phone. The sync tick is ticked in the 'data sync' settings screen...
Help!
Thanks in advance
Tom.
Try going to menu-settings-data syncronization-Google and see if it still has your account log in. You may need to fill out the account information again.
Note that you can still be recieving your google e-mail etc and not have it registered to sync for your calander.
Hi,
I don't seem to have an option to re-sign in to the account...
See attached under the data synchronisation settings.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
Tom.
How on earth do you have dual sim?
Untick auto sync, manually sync calenders then turn auto sync back on see if that works.
This phone has dual-sims neat huh.
That's what prompted me to move to Android - Sadly, your manual sync idea didn't work - see the pics:
http://picasaweb.google.co.uk/tjrundy/AndroidPhoneCalendar
Any other thoughts?
Thanks again,
Tom.
Do you have any calendars on the account you are using? Double Check, by going to calendar.google.com.
You have default there which is a sign that your calenders should be/are syncing properly =/.
There is one weird thing though... have a look at my calenders:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The "Default" Calender is labelled with my googlemail address and it has always been like that, on yours it's simply labelled "default" which seems pretty weird. Maybe someone else can come along and shed some light.
Does everything else sync ok? EG Contacts, Email etc.
Also, mind doing a mini review of your device? where you got it from and how much it was etc? I've always wanted a dual sim device but they all look pretty crappy tbh.
Yeah it's really wierd... everything else syncs and calendars are definitely there...
So you're right, this default calendar is syncing properly. I actually quite liked this device - it's got dual-radios which means that you can take / place calls from two sims - you can also select which sim will provide the internet connection; handy as I live between Germany and the UK, so I hoped to have a decent (cheap) internet connectivity in both places at last.
Sadly this lack of calendar sync is a dealbreaker
I was about to pack this phone back into its box, and flashed WM 6.5 onto the i780 that I'd been using till now, but then I found that the Google sync for windows mobile only syncs one calendar!
There's a review here: http://www.mobileburn.com/youtube_video2.jsp?Id=7753
It's a chinese phone so it's not the world's best quality, but does work (mostly), runs android and does have two phones!
Surely it can't be a problem with the device though.
Like I said, double check and see if you have more than one calendar? Poke around on the settings on the actual google calendar web app ie calender.google.com. You may have just somehow turned all your calenders private or something.
Same problem!
Any good new guys?
I've got the same problem on my dstl1.
All GCalendars aren't public but access from my account is permitted (obviously!). The only difference between my default calendar and others is that non-default's ones are shared with other people.
Thx in advance!
Have a nice WE

HD2 Telstra ROM Tweak - Unlocking Quicklinks Cab

Hi all,
This is for those of us with HD2 devices from Telstra (Australia).
By default the top 3 Quicklinks on the main screen are locked with Telstra shortcuts - Bigpond, Foxtel and Sensis.
After installing this cab and performing a soft reset, you will be able to remove these shortcuts from the menu just like any other link on the homepage.
Enjoy
Bless you!!
Happy Australia Day...you have made mine complete!!

You need to create a new data connection with different settings for Telstra to get exchange sync working. Since we can't modify the existing connection, you need to create a new one and set it as the default.
Follow the instructions below:
http://fxtechtips.blogspot.com/2009/03/how-to-setting-windows-mobile-to-access.html
this is a guide to set up a new Telstra internet connection on WM6.1 but the same procedure applies for the HD2. Quickest way to get to the connections page is Comm Manager > Menu > Connections.
One change to the instructions though. Ignore the proxy setting in step 10. Leave it empty, but still tick the 'This network connects to the Internet' checkbox.
After doing this, try and do a send/recieve with the new connection.
EDIT: Just realised you seem to be in Norway so you may need to set up a new data connection with your carrier settings instead. Either way, set up this connection without a proxy server and it should work.

Thank-you for this... You guys are great... Wish I knew more about this stuff... Thanks again.
Thanks that has saved me having to dig around in the registry, or for a new ROM, at least for now.
If you are still having trouble with Exchange, make sure your Active Sync is set to "Dedicated' and not "Internet". Took me hours to work out why I could check my mail using wifi and not next G!!!
syncing with myphone and setting default/deleting email accounts
i also have a problem with syncing my contacts, tasks and calendar with microsoft myphone.
i can sync other items such as photos and SMS but not the above.
telstra have locked it for some reason.
does anyone know how to unlock this?
also, i want to delete outlook as an email account. when i create new calender items and add attendees it sends them with outlook which i dont use and they sit in the outbox. i have set up another email account which i want to use.
i couldnt see how to delete outlook or set the other as the default.
Thanks for the fix!
What right has telstra got to lock this sort of stuff down!!
Working! ActiveSync with Exchange on Telstra!
Hi All,
I have had a few issues trying to setup a Activesync Connection with and Exchange server (NO Workstation) with a new Telstra locked HTC HD2.
Telstra have locked the device so you have to purchase another "Email Data Plan" to sync with an Exchange Server.
I added all my settings to activesync, And could not connect.
In ActiveSync, click options, select exchange and click settings,your server settings should be here mail.blah.com.au , click next, your username and password are here, click next, BUT DONT CLICK FINISH.
Click options and advanced, Select Internet and not dedicated from the connection list. A telstra warning will display, click yes.
You should now be able to SYNC via the Internet with full Direct push email.

It removes the lock that was placed on these 3 links.
On the home screen, Select 'Menu' -> 'Remove Quick Links'
Select the ones you want to remove and select 'Done'
Sorry for the dumb newbie question, but the cab file to remove the quicklinks is actually a winzip file that contains an XML file and .001 file.
Have I missed something here? I am familiar with how to move a cab file onto my phone and install, but when i copy this file over the phone still thinks it is a zip file...
Thanks,
Roy.
<< Ignore me, have now loaded and removed those links, thanks for the cab file, much appreciated, now I have some quick links that are actually useful >>
Thanks a lot !!!
Many thanks to people who help me to remove Telstra rubbish.
Is it possible to to remove all Telstra apps from programs?
None of these solutions for active sync are working for me, the setting still keeps going back to 'DEDICATED'... looks like it's ROM time....
hi
this cab file stuffed up my hole rom, is there a virus in it ?

Froyo e-mail apk?

Anybody know whether the Froyo e-mail APK is likely to work on a rooted-but-otherwise-stock 2.1 Vibrant?
The Samsung-provided mail client is pretty unreliable. Heck, it might be worse than the Google mail client. It tells me I have new e-mails when I don't, and it sometimes fails to download mail from one account or another for hours at a time. I was having zero problems with mail hitting the same accounts running Froyo (CM6) on my G1.
Or -- if nobody knows, if somebody can get their hands on that APK I'll install it and try it.
Try downloading the Nexus One CM6 RC, and extract the desired Mail APK. I can't tell you whether or not it will function properly (and you may need to uninstall the Samsung Mail first), but that's where I'd begin.

Finally sat down and gave this a shot. Dropping the Nexus Email.apk directly into system/app (after saving the stock apk and odex) didn't work. Moving it to the sdcard and running something like appInstaller didn't work ("problem with image").
For those suggesting K9, I tried it quite awhile back on the G1 and didn't like it. And since it's based on the original Android mail app, and I found THAT to be flaky and unreliable, I can't say I have a lot of hope for it's future value to me. But maybe I'll give it another shot though, Samsung's email app is so bad it's actually causing business issues (e.g. costing me money); I think it might be worse than my 1.x mail clients.

Even worse issues on my Samsung Captivate and stock froyo mail...with eclair setup to corporate exchange server, I had email and calendar events working great, but now after froyo flash + minor [non-mail] mods, calendar won't sync pretty much at all from my company's outlook server (and yes, I have it setup properly).
Anyone else having froyo + Outlook exchange server problems w/ calendar? Missing my meetings is fun for a while, but it's starting to hurt
Make sure you set the permissions right for the email.apk. I used the gingerbread email.apk on a rooted tmobile 2.1 rom and didn't seem to have any issues. Also make sure you restart after moving it to system/apps and clear cache and settings in the email under manage applications.

[Q] Html mail in HTC Mail

Hello
I just noticed that I cannot see HTML mail in HTC MAIL app on any build (Desire or Desire HD)
I means that if I go to HTC MAIL settings, I see the option "mail format" in gray so not changeable, and I see there "Text only".
Some one had succeeded to have html mail?
It's definitively not a Exchange Server problem, because using any other mail software as K9, Moxier, Nitrodesk... I correctly receive and see HTML mails.
Go to settings and then choose 'Send & Receive'. Choose 'Mail size limit' and set the limit to 'No limit'. Emails will now be downloaded in HTML format.

I alredy tried this, no success. Email are still received as text only. And the option is still unchangeable.
I see. It worked for me. Although my build doesn't have a 'Mail Format' option at all - so there is no option greyed out. I'm currently using MCCM SE v3.4.

Hey rafpigna, you are not alone in this. I can never view my company's exchange mail in HTML except when using those few apps that you mentioned.
Some people said it's because my exchange sever is 2003, but my company has recently upgraded and I still don't get HTML display (format greyed out like you). If it is due to older exchange version, why is it that we can view using other apps. I am also able to view my exchange mail in HTML on my iPad using the default email app.
All the following Android Device/ROMs native email app does not display exchange in HTML for me:
1. HTC HD2
2. Samsung Galaxy S
3. Samsung Galaxy Tab
It is interesting that the email app is able to display HTML emails for my Yahoo and GMail accounts.
BTW, I have never gotten to display my Exchange emails in HTML under WM6.5.x or older either, and to imagine that WM and Exchange are both from MS!!
It real annoying and frustrating. As much as I dislike iOS, it is the only one that I am able to display my Exchange emails in HTML properly.
