Run 'Uncertified' CABs

Hello everybody,
Is there any backdoor possibility to run "Uncertified" CAB files on JasJar WM2K5 ?

Did not help, still says "Unable to install. Uncertified system software detected."

Uncertified system software problem, still a problem
Anyone have an update on this problem? I"m trying to install the Blackberry Connect software ( Not the TMO one) on a Cingular Wizard.

Hey,
When you did a soft reset, did you do it using the hole or software?
I was told that if you use the hole the settings don't activate, you need to make the registry changes, and use software to restart the phone, like psShutXP.
Any help?

Unfortunately Not
I've did a hard reset, hit the reset hole for 3 seconds when it starts to load software so I can boot up without the ROM loading ( as I have read you need to do ). I still can't install the Blackberry software. It still says that it's uncertified software.
Any other ideas?

You don't have to hold the reset pin in for 3 seconds, you have a window of three seconds in which to tap it.
OK, once you have done the hard reset you can then try the registry edit or the .CAB file to get rid of the security check.
Once you have edited the registry and installed the .CAB you will have to do a soft reset, not a hard one.
A hard one will make the changed that you just made go away.
If you have a copy of psShutXP you can use that to reboot rather than the reset pin, or you can make the changes then wait 5 minutes before you reset.

change bluetooth name

is there any way to put name for my bluetooth ?
because it show my owner name when some one search for my bluetooth

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Bluetooth\Settings\
Change Localname to whatever u want.
Perhaps u have to sofreset or restart bluetooth.
But keep in mind it will be overwritten to the owner name every time u enter user details under settings.

Or search for the schap's Advanced configuration tool, all in one tweaking in a friendly user interface...easier than manually editing the registry.

Changing Bluetooth name
I tried Advanced Config but although it shows a different Bluethooth name, my default name continued to be picked up by other phones. I have WM6 and a TyTN.
I'll try the Resco approach and edit the registry. Thanks for the tip.

How to disable SMS-Threading-Mode?

I tried this one, but it didn´t work correctly - the conversion-mode was disabled but the sms-notification-sound was also gone.
Any ideas?

Or just run the attached .cab file, it makes the same change to the registry.
Apparently it’s best to delete all sms and mms prior to doing the change and then soft reset after the change is made.
I haven’t tried this yet as I have not flashed to 6.1 yet, but the above has been reported as working perfectly

HP iPaq HW6915 with UK ROM, need keyboard remapping

I will keep posting this question until some guru gives me some help
I have an iPaq 6915, was swedish, is UK ROM now.
I need the registry values to restore the accented characters on the keyboard.
Today when I press circle button + W I get @, but according to the hardware keyboard I am supposed to get ö.
If someone can tell me what values to put in the registry or make a .cab file for this I will be forever grateful
What I have done already:
Based on what was written in the Registry after a hard reset (would be the UK mapping), I have revised the values to the following:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd]
"Locale"="041d"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload]
"Default"="e001041d"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\keyboard layout\Preload\1]
"Default"="e001041d"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Oem\Qwerty]
"Layout"="132125"
I have then performed a soft-reset (small pin-hole) I have tried lowe case and upper case Of the 041d/D value.
the keyboard is still in UK layout!
What am I missing here??

I will look into this then, it seems that you would not need this for the people that ported German iPaqs (QWERTZ), I have read posts where they just change the values and perform a reset.

No such luck, the DLL's pointed out does not exist in my registry, not sure why.
The main thread is that all other languages are changed with updating the key values I specified.

How come the other ppl that converted their german, french, spanish SABLE can swap the keyboard layout by messing with the registry and not me?

I installed it and then performed a soft reset. (stylus in the bottom).
The keyboard is un-affected, but maybe you got my issue wrong?
On the HARDWARE keys in the QWERTY line, the keys read
Ä Ö € Æ Ø Å
Q W E R T Y
But when i press this I get

So basically I have a swedish / eurpoean keyboard but an English Softlayout.
How can I change this? A new CAB perhaps?

the reg velue of eng is 409 and the cab set all location i know to this velue
if it dose not work you can always use afreeware called ae keyboard and map the keyboard to eng

Could you possibly make another CAB that set's the value to 041d as this is the value for Swedish, (at least this is what the table tells me).
Then I can try the method.

Crap, no changes. to sum up what I did.
1- Factory reset (UK Rom)
2- Install CAB 1
3- Press Off, wait at least 10 seconds
4- Press the reset hole with stylus
5- Once rebooted I open a notepad and try the special keys.
No change, CAB 1 or CAB 2.
is there a step I am missing.

Thanks, I will look at this as the alternative.
It really bothers be that I cannot change the keyboard layout by simply changing the registry keys like everyone else in this forum does.
Is there a secret trick to this>?
I mean I use a registry editor, edit the value, choose save, wait a few secs, perform a rest (stylus in rest hole) and it should take no?

No, that's not it.
WHEN i press the curcle key and Q for example I am expecting a swedish character (since the keyboard itself is this) but I am getting what the UK hardware keyboard layout has.
I would therefore want to tell the iPaq that I have a euro keyboard.

hi on my home screen the quick links icons i cant add,theres supposed to be 9 but 2 are missing,i can remove them but cannot add or change any of them,any ideas?

restart your htc... and remove each of them and add again from contacts or other.. may be u can add contacts pic.. fav.. etc

Hola, the remove qtc cab is so you can change the icons for some of the programs..., but for your QuickLinks issue, please check your registry:
HKLM\Software\HTC\Manila\Home
There you have 0 - 8 meaning the values and keys for all 9 quicklinks ;-)
Check them and see if two (2) of these are corrupt.... If so, then check the entries of the good ones and adjust the "bad" ones
Probably some flunked or failed instal that screwd up, or what else did you instal?

What ROM are you running? Stock? If it is a custom ROM, inform your chef

Yes, in registry should be 9 files from 0-8, but the file number 2 is missing at all. That is probably the problem. I just don't know how to add a "file 2" manually, because I don't know ContactFavorType. The rest of values should be ok..
It was caused by some error during uninstalling of a official Facebook application distributed via Marketplace. So on the position 2 (file 2 in the regitry) was Facebook, but right now there is nothing:-D

Hola, simply check for the value on the other ones... my values differ since I have CHT and a cooked ROM, but if you want, take a look at my original set up without CHT, right after flashing the ROM - The ROM Cook only set the first three links as you will see at the bottom of the file ;-)
