Bad wifi signal - Touch Diamond2, Pure General

Hi, I've recently got myself a Topaz and when using my home wifi I get a very poor signal even when I'm right next to the router. I get about 1 or 2 bars. I've tried to change the performance to battery ratio setting with no luck. Any input on this matter will be much appriciated.

That is a radio problem.
Check current radio version, it should be 4.49.25.17 if you are running new official ROM with win6.5
all settings/device information

I'm actually still running win6.1.

No prob...
Take a look here, read it good and then flash one of the newest radios...

I'm reading the newest one drains battery and that the older version is better. Have you had any problems with the newest radio?

I use the newest and no probs. But it is depending of your operator, the place where you live, what connections you use most... and so on...
So, try, try and try... the latest ones...

Just updated the radio and its all working perfectly. I'm finally getting full bars on signal from my router. First time doing anything to my phone and it was quite easy with all your help. Thank you to everyone.

just use the newest..
and the result of this will not be plain the "best" radio. also you don't know about different networks in different countries etc... i second my precessor, just use the newest as long as it doesn't make trouble.
I use the newest one, until i find a problem.
you won't find a problem with newer ones, since all radios as of yet are abysimal at best with 3G
Bluetooth now works well on 63.18.55.06IU_6.35.08.22
I am in the UK and did the update from HTC to fix the Sense speed etc.
Once I did this my Bluetooth stack was shot. Dropped all the time and would hang connecting to A2DP unless I did a reboot etc.
Not sure what the radio number was in that build.
I just got fed up and rooted my phone and flashed 63.18.55.06IU_6.35.08.22.
Wow, now Bluetooth is working like a charm (only been 1 day but a world of difference).
3G and 2G seem the same as before for connection and signal etc.
Just thought I would let you all know my findings.
Regards
Russ
Latest radio update made me gain 2 bars in my house.

HD2 Europe mobile-reception not workin flawlessly

Hey guys,
i have constant battles with my HD2 running Android. The mobile reception and logically because of that APN is also not workin properly.
Example: I'm at home and have full mobile-reception and internet is working flawlessly. One second later nothings workin... The reception display shows 4/4 lines and one second later 0/4. But i didn't move.. Same with WLAN and APN..
I guess it's not a "build problem", cuz i had this with lots of builds. So it's maybe a windows mobile thing. I have flashed 2.12.50 radio and chucky droid rom.
I tried 2.14 but my conversational partners had very strong echos. (with MIUI-Build)
I searched the forum and googled but i didn't find any solution for this..
Really need this to be fixed.
thx bench

I don't know a lot about android. But i had similar "echo" problems when i used a TMOUS based rom. I use miris 1.80 based rom with 2.14 radio in the uk on vodafone with no problems.
Miri Rom Here: http://htcpedia.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2520
Have you tried a RMNET based android build. The data connection with those is slower but generally more stable. I use ppp but do get the data drop off. but turning the mobile data off and turning back on again sorts the problem.
It would probably better to post such questions in the android general section.

Same problem here. Signal drops quite frequently and for now i like the sense builds which you cant switch to 2G (unless im missing something). With other builds if i switch to 2G its sort of fine but slow data connection.
Same here, I live in holland and use the 2.14 Radio. I don't have a data plan yet (the phone is brand new), so it doesn't really bother me.. yet
we really do need a fix for this
Is nobody havin an idea?
Me 2
I´m having the same problem...anybody know a cure for this?
no problems here ... 2.10.5 radio
Same problem here, tryed different combo's with wm and Android, radio's etc......signal drops now and then.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
Always signal drops here.. 35% of the time. Mesured with battery indicator.. only in Android not in winmo and I didnt find the right radio and rom for less drops.
Thats so strange. About every 10mins i have a totally data loss. Tried different radios and roms. Nothing helped. As i tried 2.14 i had strong echo issues.
i uploaded some screenshots. They're all taken at the same place. So you can see how strange these reception changes are...

Boy I'm glad to see this thread, I thought it was just me!
I am having exactly the same issue, and have done since using android builds. The only workaround I have is to switch on plane mode, and then switch it off again which seems to work for an hour or two. But then the signal goes all wonky again.
I wonder if this is also affecting the battery life. I'm sure I read somewhere once that loss of signal results in more battery use as the phone is constantly trying to locate signal.
I have tried a number of radio/rom combinations with no real change. As mentioned above, if I switch to 2G the signal seems more stable, but the data is unbearably slow.
I'm in the UK by the way.

me too!
I have the same problem. I might try the 10.2.5 radio as above?
I had this issue with Android that signal drops for no reason. The trick to my problem? Disable in the Netwok Mode "GSM/WCDMA Auto" and choose "GSM Only". Now the signal should work flawlessly without drops. It worked for me

[Q] which is the best uk radio rom

iv been searching around and cant seem to find which one is best, most of them cause my data connection to fail for a second or two when i connect to opera or is this another issue and not my radio,
any advice would be great

Try the Radio I'm using, it's working pretty well, reception is good, data connection is good, give it a go! But you should really test some out before posting a thread as every reply will be different, it's difficult to say which is the 'best'!
I recently upgraded my radio to 2.15.50.14. Since the upgrade I have noticed an increase in battery life++ and less switching between H/3g/2g. Data connections feel much quicker on HSDPA but this is purely anecdotal as I have no speedtest results to compare.
This is on T-mobile UK.
In my experience a Radio that works really well on one network/Country may not be the best choice on a different network/Country.
It doesn't cost anything to flash a Radio, so experiment away. Read the stickies in the ROMs forum to avoid "Bricking" your HD2.

Where about do you live? I'm about to try your Radio, to see how it goes
How did you get on radio-wise?
I am on tmobile in the uk.
On recent radios ( not tried every single one of course) I get my signal dropping down to 4 dots where I know I get good signal. I just flashed one of the 2.10.x radios and its definitely dropping down to4 dots alot less but still not how it used to be. I will try others in the morning.
I was wondering if there is a definitive list of the best radio depending on which provider you're with?
Thanks.
Yans.
HD2 - Best radio for UK Tmobile
I know it's been asked a thousand times before, but does anybody have actual experiences on the HD2 with Android running of SD, and being on Tmobile?
I must agree, 2.12.50.02.2 does work amazingly. I tested a lot before agreeing to this one. And android seems to connect straight away with it installed. I had 2.08, 2.09 & 2.10 before & had to constantly switch my network connections from WCDMA/GSM (HSPA/3G/GSM) to WCDMA only (HSPA/3G) and back again while running android. However, 2.12 never had the problem.
best radio for hd2 & UK Tmobile
I think I have to agree. I have tried lots of them, but am going back to 2.10 and 2.12, and out of the two, 2.12 seems the better. I also had to contstantly turn my hsdap on and off and on again to get connections as it dropped often. What kind of donwload speeds do you average?

[Q] 3G on Froyo 3.2

Does anyone have 3G on Froyo 3.2?
"Froyo 3.2"
...the Mdeejay build?
(be specific, please, for the love of god)
Oh, and check your APN settings.
Nah man, Darkstone build. I already got my APN settled up, just got E with full bar of signal. Never get 3G at all, just G rarely but most of time E.

Hmm...
You in a bad signal area?
What radio do you use? (switching could help)
I'm in Rochester, New York. It's a great signal. I couldn't find my radio somewhere in Setting under Software Info.
When you boot into WM, it says (in the bottom left) "R" and then the radio rom version.

Flashed Radio should be the last part of the Baseband-Version in the SW Info.
The radio version said 2.10.50.26 and my ROM version is Astraios 1.6 WWE which it is under Shubcraft. What am I missing?
My Baseband version said 15.39.50.07U_2.10.50.26. Does it help anything?
Hmm, you could try flashing different radio ROMs, some people have reported changes for better worse in signal with different radios.
Froyo no internet connection??
Ok, I installed froyo 3.2 on my hd2 and everything is working good except it says I have no cennection to the internet and i need to connect, but I have signal and tmobile network, can someone please help me with this problem??

New Radio in the 3.14 update

So, impressions?
I am actually finding that my phone is less likely to find my router now and it seems to get less signal.
I even changed the registry setting to have it run on an "N" network...still des not sem as strong. Maybe I am being overly sensitive.
Maybe I just need to let it settle in?
Anyone else finding this?
(radio 2.15.40.14)
I haven't had any problems with the new radio. If anything, I've been getting better WiFi reception in my house and the call quality is markedly better. How long have you had the new ROM on your phone? Usually it takes 2 to 3 days based on my experience for everything to settle in. Are you running just the new radio or the new 3.14 ROM?
When was the last time you reset your router? When my signal gets a little sketchy, I'll reset my router and the signal will return to it's former glory.
I literally loaded the new ROM last night.
As you note, it does seem to take a few days to have everything settle so...I shall be patient.
I was one of those who had veritably no problems with the phone sinc eI bought it save for the texting lag.
I am excited to see if this all smoothes out.
Spent a couple of hours doing my registry tweaks and what not last night.
disappointed that they did not change the calendar to allow more options to snooze and that I had to change the registry for that.
Other than that, thus far, I see little other change save for what I noted initially.
Im pretty sure the radio rom has nothing to do with WiFi, bluetooth, or GPS for that matter. AFAIK the radio rom only affects the cellular radio/modem in the phone.

I concur... The new radio is working the exact same for me as the stock radio on 2.13.
That statement is actually not entirely true. The radio controls not only the cellular radio and modem, but also the GPS, WiFi, Camera and backlight of all things. TONS of stuff goes through the radio ROM, which is why having the correct one is a must.
