There is an issue where the lockscreen and emails stop working. Go to the start menu and lock your phone from the softkey (bottom left). Then, unlock it and try to open an email by clicking it. If that works, you just need to do that every now and then. It's a pain, but hopefully HTC are working on it.
If that doesn't do it, I'm sure someone on here will be more help
Edit:
You posted while I was posting
Glad you got it sorted.

Not sure how to get rid of this but my email tab in touchflo shows a 1 against it like there's an unread email in there.
There isn't. There are no emails in there at all!
I've done a soft reset and it was still there afterwards so I did a send receive and got 6 new emails but it then showed as 7 on the tab.
I then did select all & delete but it still shows as 1 on the tab and it's really winding me up!
Any idea why it's got stuck like this and how I can cure it?
Many thanks guys.

Have you gone into All emails section and checked all email accounts including outbox, inbox, sent, received etc
Yes, look in Outlook Inbox, it's more than likely the welcome email
Thanks guys - I thought I'd gone through all the folders but somehow I missed a new Tips & tricks one in the Outlook Inbox. No idea why that's only just come through but embarassing that I didn't spot it.
Thanks!
Hi all,
I wondered if anyone had found the following problem rather irritating?
I have the HTC mail widget on my home screen which works great but I would like it to mark mail as read when it is viewed on there rather than having to open all mails individually. Is this possible, and if not is there another way to quickly mark multiple messages as read without deleting?
Cheers,
Michael

I started this thread a while ago: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=567100
as far as I know there is still now option to mark all mail as read, so it was easier to switch gmail instead. I suggest you do the same as Gmail app is so much better.
Hey, this is my first thread but thank you for all the great programmes/tweaks you are providing.
I just wanted to know if anyone else if having an issue with email to phone conversations.
The 'Closer Look' promo video demonstrates the ability to press a green call icon whilst viewing an email to jump straight into a conversation.
However I've got several people set up with phone numbers and email addresses but the icon does not appear.
Does anyone else have this problem?
(i'm not using outlook btw).

Hi onlineatron, and welcome
When I have an email open, if I click on the sender at the top of the page, it opens their contact page, and I can call them, text them etc. from that page. This is via a hotmail email, as I don't use outlook myself either.
Hope this helps.
Hey, thanks.
That partially helps.... I didn't know I could do that.
But take a look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSrjUxbDcqw
At the 3:17 mark it shows a green icon in the corner of the email...
I don't actually see that icon at all.
Same as you I use hotmail... I'm also from the UK using a UK HD2.

Yeah, that seems to be one of the "features" that disappeared before release, such as the pinch-to-zoom in videos.
Ahhh =(
That's a shame.
Oh well, perhaps they'll patch it in later.

Well, that's not true. I have at least one email where the call button is present.

Oh right, any particular conditions to have it?
Did you set up the contact with outlook?
Yes I've entered the email addresses in outlook on my desktop computer. Then I've synced my contacts using exchange. But I don't think that has anything to do with it. The email addresses just look normal in my contactcard (don't know if that's the right English translation) of the person on the phone. The call button appears both in my outlook inbox and gmail inbox.
Perhaps that's just it.
Because I/we have to sync our hotmail emails through the Windows Live app... we don't get the icon.
Has anyone any idea how we restore this choice-icon in email tab?
It existed (???) regularly but for some reason I do not see this now.
In the HD2 Manual is appeared normally!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks.
Hello,
my HD is flashed with the latest topix build and everything works fine, except one small thing that really bothers me (well, pisses me off ) !!
The mail icon (not the SMS one) has number 1 on it, as if I've received a new mail. That's not the case though as I have no new mails. I've even deleted the account and the "problem" is still there !!
Thanks in advance for any replies !!
EDIT: Also, another "problem" I've found, is that I can't change "My Location" both in the weather tab and on the homescreen (under the clock).
If you can, answear to that too please !

Try this to sort out your number one...
Thank you for the reply, but that didn't fix the problem...
i had this a week before other things on my touch hd started to go wrong. the camera then vanished and the phone then kept turning itself off. hopefully not the same for you but warranty repair in the end.
often the '1 unread message' thing occurs after you have used activesync for the first time / first time after flashing a new ROM.
in the mail account 'Outlook' it puts a stupid 'welcome to your phone' email message.
check this account and delete the email.
hope this helps,
Tom

THANK YOU !!!
That solved the problem. Went to inbox, switched to Outlook inbox and found a stupid welcome mail...
Thanks again !

Anyway we can fix it? The big screen is a battery killer.
My screen for some reason is showing one new e-mail but I have deleted all of them (from phone and website as well) ... eh whatever ...

Try un-check the Voice Command in Settings/Other.
By default it is checked, so I thing that's messing up the screen in noisy environments.

You have to go to Inbox and actually read every new e-mail, to get rid of those hanging notifications.
There's also a cab fix that adds a menu item: "Mark a Read" but that's essentially the same thing as going to Inbox and opening each mesage.

The real fix lies in Active Sync...
You need to recreate the Exchange Mail account, then access the original or "dummy" account created when the PC synchronizes with your device to access system settings. Within that inbox, you will find the "Welcome" e-mail that you did NOT receive a notification for, nor read. OPEN IT. DELETE IT. And there you are... no more lingering notification on S2U2, or the home screen tab.

If you set up a push account then this is what will happen. While in your email tab inbox swipe to the side till you get to outlook and clear the inbox in outlook.
