Hello guys,
When I connect to mobile network, sometimes it's H, sometimes 3G, and even worse G only. Is it normal?
Thanks!
PS: My location is Stockholm.
No one uses mobile network???
It is depend on the signal coverage. It is very normal.

im sure this is probably a stupid question, but should i just use my 3G at all times? i downloaded wifisync so it automatically connects to a wifi when in range, but which is faster? I also have a high speed internet connection at home which is 54mbps, so if i connect to that wifi... will it be faster than the regular 3G service?

Yes, your wifi will be faster than the 3G. It's really your preference.
oh ic... but since i have wifisync running, whenever i dont have a wifi it will be disabled so then ill have my 3G running....correct?
correct
The G1 can determine if you have Wifi/G3/E/G in your area and switches between the fastest possible method. For wich it has access parameters
3G is usually a bigger drain on your battery, since your phone's signal has to go farther than it would for Wifi. Wifi is extremely localized compared to 3G, and takes less effort for the phone to connect and communicate with wifi.

I've always found the opposite to be true. Wifi always kills my battery way faster than 3G.
wi-fi kills my battery more than 3g if the wi-fi is on and not connected (scanning for network), but if the wi-fi IS connected it seems to drain slower than the 3g
Does anyone have a problem with internet connection when connected on 3G with weak signal?
It seems that phone prefers 3G even when signal is so low that internet just doesn't work. I had to turn it off and my internet connection now always work, but EDGE is as fast as I can go. It's really annoying.
I noticed it, but when i try to change signal manually (##634# and *#2263#) i see that Edge signal is low as 3G, so i think it is not a problem.
I use wifi for internet but I have that problem at my house, 3G is very weak and it only works in a couple rooms. Can't text in other rooms unless it's on edge but it always tries to connect to 3G.
I had to use Samsung Tools to enable the 3G switch in settings. I turn it off when I'm at home and so far it has been working great.

Yes I did this too - this is the only way still!
I'm not sure if I am in the right section but I am running this on a Nexus 4.
I will be a truck driver for the summer, driving cross country. I plan on getting a Verizon Jetpack because T-Mobile sucks on interstates and I listen to music through Pandora and Google Music. What I am trying to setup is a tasker profile that turns WiFi ON when mobile network type is EDGE or GPRS, and turns the WiFi OFF once the mobile network type is HSPA (or LTE) again. The goal of this being, use my unlimited T-Mobile data when usable data is available and only use my Jetpack data when there isn't usable T-Mobile data.
I can get tasker to turn WiFi on by making a mobile data state for 3G-HSPA and 4G inverted, but once it is connected to WiFi, it doesn't check mobile network data anymore, so WiFi remains on when I gain 3G or 4G. I need it to check mobile network type, not what kind of data it has. Anyone have any clues?
What happened:
I am using a new Nexus 4 in various buildings on a campus (specifically, the University of Washington). For simplicity, let's assume that there are just two buildings, Building A and Building B.
There is a strong WiFi signal within both buildings, and I can connect to the WiFi network in either one. When I walk between buildings, the signal drops outside, and the phone switches to 3G networking (as expected).
Once I'm inside the other building, however, the WiFi does not always automatically reconnect. Instead, the phone will often remain on 3G mode, despite being in the presence of a strong WiFi signal.
If I restart the phone, the phone will then reconnect to the WiFi signal. Unless I do this, however, the phone will remain in 3G mode indefinitely. This drains the battery and results in high data usage with my phone plan.
Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Connect to campus-wide WiFi.
2. Walk outside. WiFi connection will drop, and phone will switch to 3G.
3. Walk inside another building. Phone will remain in 3G mode, rather than switching back to WiFi, despite being in the presence of a strong WiFi signal.
4. Restart the phone. After rebooting, the phone will now connect to the WiFi network.
What you think the correct behavior should be:
The phone should automatically switch back to WiFi when in the presence of a suitable WiFi signal. A manual restart or manual reconnecting to the network should not be necessary.

Did this issue occur before you were on PA rom 3.5?
If it didn't then I think it could be the rom if it's not then it's the school's wifi. It happens to me when I'm on campus too and I found out it the school's WiFi network was getting hammered and the signal was disrupted. No clue how that any of that happened.

Hi, I have the same problem. Did anyone manage to solve it? I have my Nexus 4 since yestereday and it's not reconnecting to my home wifi. Previous phone HTC Incredible S didn't have this issue and since that phone my wifi settings wasn't changed. I have AirLink AP, no name router and wifi is encoded with WPA. But i don't have to restart the phone to reconnect. It's enough to turn wifi on the phone off and on in settings. But it's really annoying. Thanks for hints.
And please excuse wrong expressions, I'm from Czech republic
Edit: I have stock rom, JB 4.2.2
I have an annoying issue that if i connect to 3G i cant load the internet, but if it changes to H+ i had a fast load ..
but it changes over time, sometimes when i browse something it fails because it suddenly change to 3G,
How to permanently enable the H+ and never changes to 3G anymore..
Help?
That's normal for the N4. It does that so you don't use up a lot of data when not using the internet. When you need to browse something it switches from 3G to H+. Plus it saves battery
