Charged the HD2 last night whilst I slept, now it has a weird mark on the centre of the screen kind of like you are applying pressure to it but the screen itself is fine it seems to be the capacitive bit on top because I can see a grid of dots in the worst part. Looks like some kind of liquid is in it because you can move the weaker part around like on an lcd :-O
It seems that the screen is glass however the capacative bit is plastic which is why it has warped in the heat, I left it by a radiator to test this theory and the marks disappeared (after the screen got very hot) but they came back but not as big after it cooled down. =/
I might try this process a couple more times to see if i can reduce them further
I have the same problem, it looks like there is a liquid problem, ik send my phone back to htc, this is now 3 weeks ago... worst phone ever, and i had every phone from htc and iphonen, the hd2 screen is terrible !

Well, my touch screen has pretty much gone crazy. It keeps picking up a touch in the bottom right hand corner repeatedly, even though nothing is touching it. So it is at the point where the phone just keeps vibrating and spazzing out on the table. I've done a hard reset already, so i believe the problem is likely hardware related, any possible ideas to fix this? I did rub the phone with some tooth paste earlier though.

rub the phone down with toothpaste? hoping for some minty fresh conversations?? only thing that would help with would be fixing minor scratches in the surface and even then it would have to be an older style toothpaste (none of the new gel types) as it would need to be a minor abrasion type
Sounds if the screen is picking up a ghost touch - then your digitizer is coming apart (sometimes can also be detected by seeing an "oily" something under the screen) and the only fix is to replace the screen
You can find some on EBay as well as the kits to do the operation as well
and the directions can be found around here and over at PPCGeeks just search "replacing the screen" or "replacing the digitizer" and you should get some threads with a PDF attached and where to find it all

Yes, actually there looks like a giant blob of liquid underneath the screen, but it moves around so it is actually liquid... I bought this phone second hand, so i assume its probably been through the washer. Water damage stick is red too. However, after leaving the battery out overnight, the ghost touches went away.

surprised it works had it been dipped in a washer LOL
the fact it could still be a digitizer issue as it "looks" as if an oily or water bubble under the screen is moving about when pressure is applied
Best bet, get a bag of rice or a handful of those desiccant packages from a local shoe or electronic store near you, remove the battery and back cover and SD card - put rest of phone in a baggy with some rice and the desiccant packs, close up the baggy and walk away for 24 hours or so
If it is water it will be gone definitely then, if it is the digitizer separating, you will still have the blob under the screen as it is the result of the polarized screens moving to and away from each other causing the look of a rainbow weird oily blob
Once you know which it is, you can decide how to go from there -deal with water (which should be gone after the baggy treatment) or replace the digitizer from EBay

Hi, I have a problem with my HD2. After having my phone for a few weeks it developed a mark underneath the LCD screen right down the middle. It didn't affect the touch screen, but was clearly visible. I informed HTC, they took the phone and replaced the LCD. Now, after having it back for for about 2 weeks the same has happened again (a mark underneath the screen, right in the middle about the size of a penny wide). I'm wondering if any one else has had this problem and whether it is my fault. I keep the phone in the back pocket of my jeans, and therefore put some weight on it on occasion. I'm not overly fat (12 stone) and have always kept all my phones in my back pocket. What do you guys think ? thanks

Kind of like an oily mark? There are several threads about it, some people find using a suction cup to suck the screen a little helps. Have a dig through the forum. (personally id send it back, if it happens AGAIN then id start looking at how i was carrying it around, for example, tight jeans pocket, , , , , )
EDIT - just reread the bit about back pocket,, ,there's your culprit!
Hello
There is no way you should be sitting down with the phone in your back pocket or even leaning on it ... the screen wasnt meant for that type of pressure
thanks for the reply, i've gone through the other threads.. Looks like another htc repair job. Having my phone in my back pocket is just much more comfortable (and doesnt affect the shape of your jeans/trousers) than having it in my front pocket. Oh well.. wont do it again after this.
You keep the phone in your back pocket...I think there's your answer! The screen is waay big on this phone as you know, you should keep it else where.
Same happened to me - got it replaced under warranty,
Hello all,
I've got a week old Desire Z and the only thing thats bothering me is a few bits of dust in various corners of the screen, tiny bits not too large, other than this the phones perfect. I'm contemplating returning the device, however I'm worried the next one maybe worse off, and eventually dust is going to get under the screen it being a HTC, my previous Nexus One had the problem so did 3 other friends and a Desire, all which use similar sealing mechanisms.
Do any of you chaps suffer from the same problem?
Regards,
Akshay
I haven't noticed any dust in mine -- but I did in one of my previous phones.
As long as its not a big flake of dust right in the middle, I wouldn't sweat it. Like you said, the next one could be worse (unless you can go into a store and they'll let you open boxes and look)
Mine came with what appears to be a very slight scratch bottom right, but when the phone's on you cant see it at all
I have one on my screen too. It's not small, it's on the edge of the screen, right on top, below the HTC logo. When I pick up the phone, it's not visible much, but when you look at the phone lying on your desk then I see it and it bugs me.
I was hoping there is a way to get rid of it. Like turn the phone upside down and switch on vibration, or shake the phone. Any ideas?

Anything in there is probably sandwiched in pretty good. Some things to consider trying are giving the phone some hard taps on the edge, to try to dislodge the dust and move it to a non-visible area (this could also shatter your screen or dislodge some important component) or maybe try dissembling the phone till you can get to the edge of the screen and try some high-pressure air...

I got dust in the bottom left hand corner of my screen. I went to sleep with a clear screen and woke up with a good portion of the corner pretty well dusted, about the diameter of a dime.
I sent it in for a warranty replacement, and it hasn't happened again with the new one in 5 months.
I'm done with HTC phones for now. Two of my last high end HTC phones had either dust or stuck/bad pixels and while materials seemed high quality, build quality was really poor. That dust was not there when I bought it, it must have made it in there, this should never be allowed to happen.
I cracked my screen pretty badly this weekend and am planning on ordering the replacement parts this week (debating the just glass or the new glass/LCD options). But I've noticed since then(last 2 days) the battery has drained pretty fast. Normally I get 2 days from a charge, today I pulled the phone off the cord at 8am and now at 3pm I got a pop-up saying <10%. The phone has only sat on the desk. No calls, no emails, no text, no web surfing.
Maybe the screen is getting mixed signals, being cracked and all.
Any ideas?

I am not really knowledgable about the exact interworkings of the HD2's internal hardware. But I do think it would be a pretty fair assumption that the cracked screen could be the cause of the sudden battery drain. You know your HD2 better than anybody else would as far as daily functionality of your HD2. So if it was not having a battery drain before you cracked the screen. And now you do after and this is the singular change in the state of the HD2 be it hardware wise or software wise. Then logic would say that is it.
Have you thought any about it might not just be the screen that is cracked. What about the internals. How hard did it hit, and how hard was the object the phone hit????
One last thing, be nice to your HD2, it is nice to you. ha ha ha....... But really take it easy on the hardware.
I trimmed the tape on it down to only covering the glass (finger protection mostly) and got it off the edges and out from around the back. This seemed to really help. I've noticed from the beginning of owning this phone that there are some sensitive spots on the sides that when pressure is applied the phone acts like a button was pressed etc. So I must have been causing this. Even with the screen off it was still reading a button push and having to process this action, using power.
I need to find a hard shell for the phone. The rubber thing that came with it is useless as it sticks in your pocket, I need smooth hard plastic I guess. The phone slipped out of my hand as I was getting out of the car and landed face down. Pure accident.

I too have notice the same thing about my HD2 that ertain areas around the edge are sensative, like you said almost like you were pressing abutton of some sort. I am glad you figured something out that helps stop the battery drain. I know that can be agrevating as hell.
If you have a T-Mobile HD2 like I do you could try the Body Glove. I have one on mine, it is a two piece hard plastic cover you HD2 slides up in. ig has a pull out kickstand on the back also, I really like it. It has help protect my HD2 several times when I accidently dropped it out of my hand. I do warn you though after having it on your HD2 for awhile it will make to little scuff marks of the clear coat on your battery cover. Also I have notice I have to make sure I have a ferm grip on it when I pick it up cause the plastic cover is a little slick not like when gou have the rubber case on it. I attached two photos of the cover, oh and you can buy it from T-mobile store or from the T-Mobile website. I suggest website it is cheaper there.
So here it goes. I've had nothing but issues with screens on the G2. My first G2 had the glass separating from the frame during the first few weeks that I had it, then it decided to go into a boot loop randomly and Sprint replaced it.
My second G2 initially was fine but then of course the glass started separating after a few months from the frame and I just ignored it. About 8 months later I dropped and and cracked the digitizer, luckily I had synced my bluetooth keyboard/mouse to it and was able to back everything up.
I then ordered a LCD/Digitizer/Frame assembly. I installed it and noticed the frame and the glass were separating and I could see the back light like my other screens, this one also had some white spots and looked like pressure damage. The seller tells me that they accidentally sent me a defective screen (a "return") so they send me another one, which I notice has the glass already separating from the frame, at this point I don't really care anymore and just deal with the one I have already and leave the "new" one on the shelf.
About 6 months later a portion of the screen stops responding and sometimes will go crazy clicking and swiping everything. So I decide to order some 3M 3mm tape to properly adhere the glass to the frame of the "new" one I have on the shelf. I followed a guide and it all seemed to go smoothly, I let it dry for a week to make sure it won't start separating like the others. I tried installing it and while it looks great, the phone runs super slow, and touches respond after about 20 seconds. I unplugged the digitizer connections and it still runs super slow with my bluetooth keyboard/mouse. I plugged back in the connections and went into recovery and noticed it was just clicking everything and going crazy. I also noticed I couldn't power the screen off, I had to hold the power button down until the phone shut off.
I ended up putting my old screen back in and it works fine, other than the small portion of the screen that is unresponsive.
Any ideas? I feel just ordering a brand new phone, but I'm pretty sure it'll just have the same issue after a few months ..

What are you doing with it so that the glass separates from the frame? do you use a cover? could you post some pictures?

Nothing crazy. I use it and am typically pretty careful. I had my Epic 4g for 3 years and never had any issues with it.
First one did not have a case, I have had a case for the second one and it took longer to develop the issue.
It seems to be a pretty common issue due to the bezel being so small.
