Hi, a friend of mine own a Leo ..he wants to save mails in storage card couse internal memory is not enough, on wm 6.1 it was quite easy .. just create 2 folder in storage card and add this 2 registry entry
Name: AttachPath
String: \Storage Card\MAPI\Attachments
Name: PropertyPath
String: \Storage Card\MAPI
but with 6.5 I think is different couse when he add the registry values, storage card is renamed in storage card2 and a folder named storage card appear in \windows.
Any suggestion
Thanks
Nope, I have been searching for an answer to this from day one of owning the HD2. It's also nothing to do with WM6.5 - the tweak worked fine on my HD on 6.5.
I suspect that the cause is something starting up a mail application before the SD Card is mounted. I have tried various tweaks including removing some start up items, but nothing has worked to date.
I'd be very please if someone can crack this!
Hi, not sure if this helps but it's not a tweek but an actual setting on the HD2 -
Start, email, select your client, menu, slide screen up and tap tools, options, storage tab along the bottom, tick the box to store attachments to the SD card.
That's fine for attachments, but we are talking about moving the whole mail store to the SD Card.
That's the difference between having a limited snapshot of recent mail without the full message being downloaded and having every part of all your emails, including sent items.
anyone figured this out yet, it keeps coming up storagecard 2 if you change the reg values
so we have to have to wait.. a custom rom can solve this if is not a 6.5 issue

Weird thing is that if you enable this option, the registry value "AttachPath" gets created pointing to \Storage Card\Inbox.xxxxxxx\Mail Attachments\
But in this case \Storage Card\ doesn't get renamed to \Storage Card2\. But the moment you create "PropertyPath registry value and soft reset the device, it gets renamed.
anychance we can all work together and try to find a fix?
how about if we disabled htc messaging, is there anyone who has a non htc messaging application hd2, who can test this for us ??
I have a lot of email everyday and need to keep it at least 1 week. The email folder occupe my limitation memory. It should solve. Its HTC trouble or Micorsoft?
I have the same problem, around 2.5k mails in Exchange, and 3-3.5k in GMail account, really would like to store them on microSD card
As my working assumption is that the problem is caused by some component of messaging initialising before the SD Card is mounted, I have tried a number of things to delay or prevent obvious messaging stuff loading.
One thing I haven't tried yet is disabling Sense in favour of either Titanium or just the core OS. I'm not in a position to be able to try this myself right now, but if anyone fancies trying it I'd be fascinated to know the result. Then all we would need potentially would be a utility to delay Sense starting by a few seconds?
I do have a horrible feeling that HTC may have something going on at a deeper level though...
Nope, that doesn't work either...
Has anyone been successful with this severe limitation?? I'm at my wits end with this problem!!
i have an idea to a solution

Sigh... Having some issues.
Before I start, here's the specs:
Cingular 8125
CID/SIM Unlocked
Service: Cingular
ROM: Molski's 2.26.10.2 AKU2.3
Radio: 02.47.11
Protocol 4.1.13.24
IPL/SPL: 2.26
The problem: At random, messaging just quit working all together. I havent installed anything new. I was able to send a text message this morning at 10AM and I tried opening up messaging today around 5:00pm and nothing happens. Messaging via Softkey, today screen, start menu, you name it... It doesn't work.
I've searched for about an hour both on this forum and google and I can't find any real solutions to this problem. I hope there is a fix out there and I just haven't found it.
I tried viewing processes in taskmanager while pressing the messaging softkey, and tmail.exe will appear in the processes list for about half a second then disappear. I viewed Windows\Messaging\ and there are a bunch of 0kb files there. The sms backup program included with Molski's rom won't work. It gives me the following error: "GetFolder: 0 error."
I'm guessing that some database went corrupt? Anyone have any feedback on this? Any fixes short of doing a hard reset? I'd like to avoid a hard reset because it's a major PITA to restore everything. How common is it to have to do hard resets if everything has been functioning properly with no tinkering? This 8125 is becoming a major headache for me. =\
Alright, I've found this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=269644&highlight=messaging+button+does
Apparently closing out tmail.exe will cause issues. I'm guessing this is related to using the "Close All" button that was included in Molski's rom. I'm not sure if the close all feature is available via pocketplus... If it is, I'd add tmail.exe to the exceptions list, but I have no clue where to find the settings for the "Close All" button.
Anyone have any idea?
I just had this happen to me today, is there a way to fix it?
Any fixes for this? I have read some people doing a hard restart, but I would rather not have to do that. Thanks.
For what it's worth, I had the same thing this week. Couldn't find anything simple anywhere. So..., I removed my 1G ram card. Messaging worked! I found that I had hundreds of texts in the various messaging folders and I deleted everything. So far, so good.
I noted that "running programs" shows only which folder is active in messenger, eg "text", "pop3", "sbc" or whatever you've named your services.
Oh, I'm using the WM5 messenging program that came standard. tmail? Hope this helps some other lost soul!

try format the device to refrish it
Hi,
I've been having the same problem with my Trinity, running the last Ax3l WM6 ROM (although I don't believe the ROM is at fault).
The messaging application simply stopped launching, be it from the menu shortcuts or the executable itself.
I've tried the SIM in another phone, which sends and recieves SMS OK.
After finding this post and reading suggestion the above, I tried removing the MMC and it started working again, and all my old messages were still there also. With the card back in, the problem returned.
I wasn't sure where (or why) the phone is storing SMS/messaging related stuff on my MMC card. The only thing i could find was an empty folder (no hidden or system files either):
\storage card\Inbox.mst.23423(random nos...)
tried renaming to OLD first, and all was fine again, so deleted it. weird.
Anyway, thought I'd add that in the hope it might help someone with the same issues
I had the same problem and followed these steps, it worked, Thanks for the advice.

@boma23
THANK YOU!!! Deleted the file soft reset and it's working again.
I think the file is created if you go into the messaging options and check the box that says "When available, use this storage card to store attachments"
I was about 5 seconds away from doing a hard reset when I stumbled upon this thread.
THANK YOU
I found this thread and tried it...It saved my day. I was about to have a fit!
Thanks again
After my Vario II gradually slowed to a halt and stopped receiving calls or sending text messages, I finally had to admit defeat and do a hard reset (not bad going though, I managed 4 months without hard resetting)
I am now going through the long process of getting everything back the way I like it (I stupidly didn't have a backup program installed!). I am sure I found a registry tweak to store, by default, all of my SMS text messages to my storage card and looking at the contents of my card, I do have a folder which seems to agree with this as it does look like it is full of my most recent SMS messages, but I can not, despite searching for a few hours, find the tweak to do this again.
Can anyone help? I have found something about temporary internet files but nothing about SMS/text messages.
Thanks in advance for any help.
I am just bumping this in the hopes that someone may be browsing who knows the answer .. I shall keep my fingers crossed. Thanks.
first post virgin
One I usually do when I want to preserve my SMS messages is use SPB backup, and select just the emails/messages to be backed up, this will back em up to the memory card as an exe.
when your happy with your new "build" on your phone simply run the exe and the messages are back.
Hope that helps?
Thanks for that Craig. I will give SPB Backup a go, it really would make sense for me to install a backup program, it would have made the recent hard reset less painful as far as reinstalling stuff was concerned
I am still interested in knowing where the registry entry is for the sms storage location because I would like to be able to access the various messages I appear to have on my storage card ... I can't for the life of me remember how I managed to change the location to get them on there in the first place, it was several months ago and I have't bothered to save the post/webpage I got the info from .. silly me!
Thanks
Check out Jeyo mobile extender for outlook, everytime you sync with your ppc via activesync and outlook it will back up your sms to outlook.
Not quite the same, but efficasoft Mobile express will allow you to send messages from your PC through a connector when the PPC is connected to active sync.
You can see your messages in the softwares in box, and export them to a text file thus backing them up but you cant import them back into the phone unfortunatly
my prior post was in regard to the 'red constant light of doom', and this is a semifollowup post. i recieved some suggestions as to what to do, one of which made alot of since.
im a heavy text message user, and i know the messages tend to stack up in the memory, which was the suggestion that my internal memory is running low, and to delete my text messages from last year. well i am using the "clear" function, but it was taking forever.... so then i tried highlighting and deleting, which at least i could see it working, but with 5000+ messages in the sent folder and 5000+ in the inbox, i could see wasnt going to work fast enough.
my only other options are either to do a memory clear, but that is saying will reset my device to factory conditions (now is this before or after i upgraded with the 2.26 tmo rom???) or actually just do a hard reset (which i dont want to do, cuz if i do that i might as well mess around with installing a WM6 rom)....
so any advice or suggestions??
I would have patients and let the device erase all of the text messages. Also, there is a registry tweak in the wiki to move email and attachments to the SD card. If you apply this tweak, you can store all of your messages there.
Update: the reg tweak only stores your mail, not sms, I just tried it.
Hardreset will restore your phone to the last ROM you've flashed/upgraded to.
Anyway, if you look hard enough (google or this forum), you ought to able to find the file responsible for storing all the SMS .. and I'm sure if you were to delete/rename this file and let the OS recreate this file, you are effectively erased all the SMS without hardreset.
Hi everyone I have just received my X1 and am very lost with everything it can do.
I am wanting to use my own sounds for email notification and text messaging. How do I do this?
Also, how do I make sure that when i am web browsing, I am using WiFi and not GPRS etc.
Thanks
You can either put the sounds on the root of ur sd card or the root of the phone i believe. I suggest the SD card (if you don't have one get one immediately ) Then all you have to do is go into sounds and pick the ones u want.
To make sure ur using wifi you can just turn on wifi and connect. I'm pretty sure wifi overrides any connection you have established. Also if you want to be 100% sure u can turn off the phone service in the comm manager.
About sounds:
As far as I know they must be on Memory, not SD Card.
There's also a separated default folder > My Documents > My Ringtones,
put it there.
Reagrding WiFi it does NOT automatically override any connection,
here we go:
Install NoData free app.
Turn this on to NOT transfer any network data.
Connect to WiFi.
All the browsers I tried (Opera Mini 4.2, Opera Mobile 9.5)
automatically connect by WiFi, so don't worry.
Email NOT.
So you have to go to email account settings
and in advanced server settings instead of your providers network
choose "The Internet" to connect to sync emails.
Violaa, the email account also connects through WiFi.
Without this setup you'll get errors.
Hope that helps.

They can definitely be put on the root of ur SD card. Not sure if you can put them anywhere else on your sd card but thats where i keep my ringtones.

Okay, than my mistake.
I have put the files I want into my ringtones, but it won't let me select as tone for incoming email or received text message
For ringtones you can have them on the phone or sd card... mine are in a folder called rintones on the sd card... but for sms notification music I have had to put in in the windows folder as it didnt work elsewhere... (under My Device/Windows)
It wasnt listed in the choices of tones for messaging, so I connected the phone to the PC, then copied/pasted the files to the Windows folder of the phone. Now they are there
Hmmm never knew that. Good info though. I haven't changed my sms notification sound in like 5yrs lol...

Well you don't have to connect it to PC to copy and paste files.
tried it and it doesnt work
Not having much luck Smudge? Try this
Hi Smudge,
There was a thread about this very issue a while back
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448749&highlight=notification
You need to follow the instructions in Xperian's post, he has it figured out pretty damn well and the walkthrough will enable you to create any tone in the correct format for notification use.
Hope this helps,

Every since switching from the tilt 2 to the hd2, i cant seem to get pics to save to the doc/pics on the sd card, and have them named by date/time. Have only been using NRG 21xxx roms on te 2 hd2's with cooked in advanced config.
If i setup advanced config it will save some to one location and sometimes save them to the DCIM. It gets all screwy and i end up switching the setings back.
I dont care where they are saved as long as they always go to the same dir, but i want them named with date/time
Advanced config setup to save to my pictures, and in docs/pictures, or whatever. Pics taken with the camera save to storage card dcim. Yesterday i took a pic to send in mms and it saved to my docs/pics on the sd card.
Very annoying cause it doesnt show in the album since its pointed at dcim. Ugh
i read yesterday in a html file within the rom somehwre (ill try find it when i get home) that even if you change the photo prefix setting, it will still use the default prefix when saved to sd card.
I was also unable to get the sd save location to move from DCIM, not with reg entries, nothing. (admittedly, i only tried for an evening )
