hi all,
just want to share an experience, to see whether you all got the same? my Magic is currently running the offical Sense UI rom from HK, i got an experience that, when there is incoming call, if i flip the phone to upside down, it will go slient at once. however, if the phone is already upside down on the table, when there is incoming call, the phone will just ring 1 to 2 rings and then go slient. is it normal?
because i got an incident that, when i put the phone into my trousers pocket, with the screen side to myself. when i sit down, you can imagine the phone should be in the position upside down, therefore i will miss all the calls...
There are a few HTC ads showing that feature off. So yes it's intended.
but this seems cannot found in Hero... i mean when the phone already flipped, Hero will continuous ringing when there is an incoming call.

just moved from hermes to blackstone and still found some annoying behaviours, why can't this be a phone, sometimes... this is when i miss my nokia phones.
ok, phone shut, keys locked, phone is in my pocket or in my bag, some calls me, i can't hear or feel it vibrating, screen now is on, missed the call, screen is still on, and on, and on, and on, and on...
nokia symbian phones normal behaviour: keypad locked, got a call, only keys available: answer or reject call, call missed, all keys locked again and screen off. no buts, no howevers.
i am so annoyed with that cause it just happened to my phone to start texting people in my contact list randomly while it's in my bag, after a missed call... there's nothing smart about that. and i dont think i should install a cab to do this job when it's something that should be built in the OS or perhaps the dialer - I'd believe it's the dialer app's job!
Slide to unlock, S2U2 available here at XDA. Really locks the device, looks nice too.
Ok guys I am searching but i need my screen to lock when im on a call i even managed to get into comm manager today and put the phone into flight mode what the hell ?? lol
when u put the phone to your ear, the proximity sensor should automaticaly turn off the screen.
It does but sometimes if i change ear if im on a call for a long time obv the screen comes on its just annoying i have even cut a few people off, surely im not the only person who cant take a call properly lol

THIS!!!
Absolutely ridiculous.
actually... sometimes i dial a number and put it to my ear... and when it starts ringing the screen comes on... i hate this... anyone knows why?... the sensor is fully covered...
Same problem...I already opened a thread for this, but no solution (apparently)
It's really annoying!
It would be just great if we had a menu button to turn it off again.
Contacted HTC, waiting for reply.
They replied that this is a normal behavior and nothing else we can do, onoly find some app which does that.
Any ideas?

@ EgoMaximus
good find im trying it now seems to do the trick,
Try InCallLock as well
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556801 disables hardware buttons, good when taking phone out of the pocket or so.
so i deleted that app, what happened to my slidey lock screen?
Pocketshield can do that.
See an in-call demo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMf8C5k7TGM#t=0m55s
Does the hardware windows key then 'lock' in the bottom left not do it?
i think wețre deviating from the main problem... out of the box HD2 SHOULD know to "close" the screen when in a call and covering the proximity sensor...
for me it does this as supposed but not always....
normal behaviour... make a call... put the phone to the ear... as long as the phone has the sensor covered the screen stays off
my random behaviour.... press call... put the phone to my ear (the sensor fully covered)... the screen turns off... when it starts ringing the screen goes on.... i take the phone away from the ear and put it back... the screen goes back off.... when the other end answers the screen goes back on... putting the phone away and back to the ear turns the screen off again.....
THIS DRIVES ME CRAZY!!!

+1000000 Since I have my HD2 I read all the forum to find a solution.
This is the only message I can read I find someone really boring with this problem. This is for me the problem Number 1 of the HD2.... the only one in fact .
I saw o lot of nice CAB for HD2, a lot of nice tweak etc... So why can't we find a CAB or why HTC make a patch for this boring bug..
Are we the only 2 HD2 owner to be really bore ?
this really p!sses me off too! during the lat 3 calls i accidentially hung up at least 3x per call will try the cab posted earlyer.
i just don't get it why is so hard to provide this feature wich is on every standard rom...
HTC Roms will not do that by default, neither the WM standard lock. You need a 3rd party screen locker
oh yes they do... with my stock rom when in call there is a courtain over all the buttons like mute, speaker etc... when that courtain is active nothing works except the start/end call and slide the courtain to gain acces to other buttons... so the uper bar is not activated if touched....
Greetings all,
when i´m underway in my car, or i´m running (i listen to music with my Jaybird Bluetooth headset) everytime i receive a call and after the call has ended, the phone does not go back to the lock screen, but the screen remains unlocked.
Since in both cases i have my phone in my pocket, the touch screen reacts on the movement and the touch of my thigh through the trousers and the phone starts pocket dialing or starts apps or even begins to "answer" to emails and stuff.
I have tried to set up the second pattern lockscreen, which can be set up in settings->security, but to no avail, this second pattern lockscreen does not appear after a call has ended.
Does anyone have a hint how i might set up my phone so it locks the screen right away after a call has ended?
I´m using a sense build (sense 2.1) and could not yet find anything that could help me out here, so it´s your turn now
Many thanks in advance for your help (and yes i do know where the thanks button is )

I have the Verizon G2 and just wondering if anyone else notices the incoming call screen changes. Sometimes I have the screen where the answer/decline buttons are circles and require a slide but other times I have an answer screen with big squares for answer/decline and require a press.
I can not figure out the reasoning why this screen changes formats. I just had 2 calls from the same person and each call was different.
When I'm in a call and get a 2nd call, it normally the big squares. What sucks is that when talking and the phone is on my cheek, the 2nd call comes in, turns on the display and with the huge buttons, I've answered and declined a few calls with my cheek.
I also notice with the latest update that the screen is turning on more often and my face starts hitting buttons. Mostly the clock from the statusbar notification shade, go into time settings and messes up my time. Usually I find my clock in 24hr mode. Today it was 2hours off.
I'm not sure if notifications coming in while on a call is turning the screen on or if the sensor is getting whacky. Its getting to the point where it is becoming annoying so I'm posting about it.
Anyone else notice the dual answer screen formats and having issues with being on calls and the screen turning on? I've been having to hit the power button to force the screen from coming on and launching stuff or toggling my notification stuff.

I have the exact same problem. I actually factory reset the phone to no avail. It's weird absolutely. But I've learned to live with it by not pressing the whole phone on my cheek, instead it's held at a slight angle, just the top speaker on my ear and the rest away from my face. The phone gets less dirty and there's no chance I'll press some things with my face.
I've found that if you manually turn the phone off via power button, it'll stay off. The problem is then ending the call since pulling it away won't turn on the screen.
However I am still curious about the Incoming Call screen theme. Sometimes it uses the small Circles that you click and drag while other calls use the big square button theme. It flip flops randomly.
I can't remember if the Incoming call screen would flip flop before but the screen on/off bug was introduced in 4.4.2
If the phone is in my pocket when a call comes in, apparently the screen comes on, and then it's hard to get the phone out of my pocket without either answering of rejecting the call. Usually, the call is rejected by the time I get the phone out of my pocket, though yesterday I accepted a call while retrieving the phone too.
Is something wrong with my phone? I never had this problem with other devices.
It could be that the screen shouldn't be coming on in my pocket, but it could also be that the accept/reject buttons shouldn't be displayed while the phone is pocketed. Either one would work.
Sometimes the phone rings and rejects before I can even react to it, so I don't think I'm hitting the power button, for example.
Okay, found a post elsewhere about turning off single tap in accessibility settings. We'll see how that works.
