When I take the Leo out of my pocket (right hand), I cannot reach the powerbutton with my thumb. I have to slide the phone all the way up in my hand.. After pressing the button the unlockslider appears at the top of the screen, so to reach it, i have to slide the phone down again. It takes ages this way I do have small hands, but I think larger hands wouldnt matter much..
So my question is: How do you guys power on the Leo single-handedly? Or is it just impossble to do it quick?
Yes that is a damn idea to put slider at the top..
in iPhone it is at the middle , its very easy to reach and unlock..
I have no problem with doing it, I hold the phone so its resting over my four fingers, bottom is level with the bottom edge of my little finger.
I can press all the buttons and reach the top of the screen, but im also one of the these people who can pinch to zoom quite easily with one hand.
I don't feel much comfotable powering it on by right thumb... I think I use the other hand sometimes. The unlockslider - try disable winlock (its in sticky) and use S2U2, the slider is at bottom.
No problem reaching the power button and after that the unlock slide (also with my right thumb), all without moving the phone up- or downward.

or just do a quick search for mods that shift the WM 6.5 lockscreen slider to the bottom of the screen.

hi all
i have a problem, im left handed so the volume buttons are hit constantly...
is there anyway to deactivate this buttons? ive tried looking for an app to reprogram but i cant find one
any ideas
thanks all
JT
try using your right hand anyway, i dont think you can, as you need them to boot into fastboot and stuff :\
glue them with superglue
i just tried holding it with my left hand is so many different positions... (not an innuendo!) and didnt accidentally press the volume buttons once..
how bizarre lol
maybe its the fact i used to holding a diamond, when i grip the phone it catches the piece of my palm between the index finger and thumb.
i'll have to screen lock more i guess
Maybe this will help?:

Btw, Shenshang - If you're left handed I guess you normally hold the phone with the right hand...

ohh...you people are 2 handed.....i do it with my thumb.....
In WM, I can do almost everything using one hand. In android, I don't see an on screen back button. The only way to go back is to use my other hand to push the camera button while right hand holding the phone. My friend has Droid and it has a on screen back button. For Vogue, is this the only way to go back? I'm trying to learn to use my right hand palm to push the camera button to go back. BTW, I'm using Myn's ROM but I think all android rom's like this. I which I can reassign other button like the cancel button (red button) to go back. How do you guys handle this?

I usually hold the phone in my left hand using the pads of my fingers. I put my left ring finger on the camera button so I just have to sqeeze to go back.
Works well, and it gives me a chance to exercise those fingers

+1 here
you will get used to it
and when i use the phone with my right hand i use the very bottom of my thumb bone to press the camera button also in a squeezing motion
haha Yeah I'm right handed but I hold it in my left hand and can use it 100% one handed even better than wm.
pinky on back button, thumb on unlock, or screen depending on what im doing
I do it with my right hand too lol.
i do it mainly one-handed. phone balanced between four fingers and palm, index finger to hit menu, shift phone slightly and use distal thumb joint to hit back. big hands, i guess.
Annoying Touch buttons
I think that the most DHD users have the same problem, touching the buttons at the bottom if you really dont want to.
So my question is if it would be possible to change the "Home" or the "Menu" button (pushing long) from "last used apps" to "turn on/off the touch keys???
that would be awsome
thx Dr.Pepper
Never been an issue for me, although i was anticipating problems with no hardware buttons its been fine...

Can't help but say, "you're holding it wrong!"
Seriously though I've never encountered this problem on either this phone or my N1 which has a smaller screen.
How exactly are you managing to press the buttons by mistake?
Regards.
iam the only one who has the problem that he accidently hits a touch key while using the phone or playing a game? every little contact triggers the keys. i.e. if i use the thumb to type a message, holding the phone in the right hand, i sometimes trigger the search key.
my idea is to make it harder to trigger these keys. as they are part of the touchscreen, it sould be possible to do anything that can be done with the touch sreen. my ideas:
1. double-touch; tapping the key 2 times (like a double-klick) triggers it once
2. sweep; i.e. you touch the home-button and sweep out of it, then release. can be even harder with sweeping out and back in.
3. circle-touch; making a little circle over the button triggers it.
other ideas welcome.
---------------------------------
2nd problem: easier unlocking;
i feel it sometimes tricky to unlock the pone, wich is done by pressing the powerbutton at the top of the phone and sweeping on the bottom of the screen. the phone is'nt very small (or i have small hands). if iam holding the phone at the bottom, i can nearly reach the whole touch area with my thumb, but to unlock, i need to use my 2nd hand or to juggle the phone so i can reach the power button with the right hand. with the G1, which had a menu button at the bottom, it was just double-pressing that button and the phone was unlocked. iam looking for a similar easy way to do it.
its just annoying to take the phone out of the pocket and use both handy or juggle around to unlock it...
i dont know it it wastes additional energy to have the touchscreen active, so it can be used to unlock the phone. so my ideas:
1. use the touchscreen to unlock; i.e. draw a pattern, press the bottom key in some order (home, back, menu to unlock)
2.1 use the volume keys. if the screen is disabled, they are used to change the audio volume (or is that only the case, if music is playing?) When holding the phone at the bottom with the right hand, the volume-down hey is easily reachable. so you can do volume-down (which activates the screen) and then slide on the screen like you would do if you have pressed the power button. pressing volume-down with deactivated screen does not change the volume, but pressing it twice does (i.e. 1st press unlocks the screen and 2nd press takes volume down).
2.2 press vol-up and vol-down at the same time to unlock the phone. if i do that the phone vibrates sometimes, no idea why.
3. use acceleromater (or a other sensor?) to unlock, i.e. shaking the phone in a special way (i.e. a circle), activates the screen, so you can unlock it by sliding on it. also full unlock by shaking a phone could be possible (also known as kung-fu-unlock )
other ideas also welcome.
Proximity sensor for unlock when taking it out of the pocket :-D. I have the same problem as you so a 'fix' would be nice
yeah, you take the phone out of the pocket and it unlocks and says "hello raw, how you are doing?".
but that would be nice. question is if constantly checking the prox sensor would drain the battery much. it needs to be checked every 3 seconds or so.

Feel free to just "duhh" my post but I just noticed that I've always been holding my tab in what I believe is the wrong position, when in landscape mode. The correct position should be with the soft buttons on your left (of course if you are right handed). This way you will avoid to hit the buttons with the fat part of your hand when holding it with one hand only. It's also easier to use the soft buttons with your left hands, which is free.
You can start flaming me now
Well, I am right handed and I hold it in my left hand with the soft buttons on the right.
But then when I use the phone I hold it in the left hand with the soft buttons at the top, speakers near my ear and the screen against my cheek.
My problem is I keep covering the camera with my left forefinger and knocking the auto light control out of whack, lol
i am right handed. hold it in the left hand with soft buttons on the right.
so you dont cover the light sensor.
Im right handed, so in landscape mode the buttons on the right, in portrait mode the buttons at the bottom, i dont hold the phone up to my face for calls because you look like a retard, i use headphones or headset

aleluya!! you are right!
If you're holding it with the soft buttons on the left, then you are playing angry birds upside down and you'll never win.
Seriously, if i hold it with my right hand, i wedge it in my palm and put my thumb on the top right edge.
Most of the time it's in landscape though my zenus case kickstand is holding it up, not me.

Hi,
I just don't get it, I'm trying to Hardreset my WP7 (UltraFruit) but I can't press both buttons at the same time.. I start holding the two buttons before or while magldr counts 1,2,3.. In some cases I get tricolor screen with nspl, I found out this happens when I press only Vol- and the other case is it boots into WP7.. So can anyone explane me how to press these buttons at the same time? I find it very difficult as it is one plastic cover for two buttons..
Background: I have two microSD cards, one from Android and the other one is locked by WP7.. If I flash WP7 it doesn't work (with both cards).. Can hardreset help in this case to get one of the cards working with WP7 or do I need Nokia?
Thanks in advance
Hey there.
Here's what I do, when the phone is powered off. I have the phone sideways, screen facing right, and my left hand holding it, with my thumb on the right side of the phone and my middle and index fingers on the two volume buttons. Squeezing these three fingers, you can feel both volume buttons go down. You're right though, one plastic thing covers the two buttons so you have to squeeze hard. With my free hand, I power that mutha on.
