all,
i used to stream an audio link on my mogul with windows media player. now i need an app that i can do the same. here is the link:
http://asx.abacast.com/threeeagles-kibzmobile-64.asx
thanks for the help
I read on another forum, of which I can't seem to find now, this exact same question, and the person had to download "droid live" from the market and it worked.
i tried droid live to no avail. bump
Are you talking about streaming OTA like from media at home to you at work? or Just stream it over your Wifi? Does ORB have a droid client?
Looks like you can use ORB which is a Client installed at home and then a "web connected device" can stream from your feed. Doesn't mention particular devices, maybe theres an Iphone client but I posted this quickly and didn't read much.
You have to download an app from Market DROIDLIVE lite try this .

He's trying to stream a radio station. The link is in his post, the station website is www.kibz.com
The stream page is http://www.kibz.com/pages/3397314.php
The problem is the station website runs a media player through abcast, which requires a plug in. Just above the listen now button, it says click here for mobile users. If you goto the page on the phone and press the click here, the phone pops up a box that says "the content is not supported on the phone. no application can be found to open this file. do you still want to download it."
If you go ahead and says yes to download, it just downloads it, then you click on it and it says error, no application found to open it. And yes I have droid live on my phone.
I would also be curious how to get this to work since a local station carries my college team and when i'm out of town i could still listen, but i have the same problem.
I also tried searching for the stream itself in droid live, but it never finds anything.
it seems like Orb lets you connect to radio stations. But if the stream is encoded for a specific player, good luck finding something that will decode and play it.

hi
can anyone play this file with real player ppc?
http://www.radio.rai.it/live/radio1.ram
on pc, it plays
on ppc (xda/mdaII) no
why? thanks!!
official link:
http://www.realnetworks.com/industries/mobile/operators/products/player/ppc/
Its a stream from the net so it should work.. but listening to the radio via the net on your PPC would probably run up some hefty GPRS bills.
Its in .ram format, so it should work fine as long as your GPRS is connected.
thanks for your reply
the rai link provided it's only a 33kbit audio file
the following file is only 20kbit:
http://www.radio.rai.it/live/radio1.ram
when opening a ram or rm file it always tell me:
"Response or data from server timed out"
i've search a solution on this page, but without success:
http://service.real.com/help/player/realone/pocketpc/realone.html#troubleshootingyourro
thanks for any help! ;-P
I've tried many times and many links to listend and see streamed media via Real One,also with newer version.
Only 2 of 25 i've tried worked.
In fact,I don't know why they do not work.
Saluti
thank you ;-P
is your error alway the same?
thanks!
i think it depens from the pocket pc version
on real site they always write "ppc 2002)...
any other suggest?
can anyone help me please?
this page works on pc:
http://www.realnetworks.com/mobile/pocketpc/usa/entertainment_movies.html
but on my xda/mdaII not
the error is always the same:
"Response or data from server timed out"
on the official real player web site they invite customers to try their page!
http://service.real.com/test
but NO demo play with windows mobile 2003...
how it's possibile that REAL didn't try it's most famous software on the last windows mobile?
uhm...
I contacted Real about this a while ago, and they seem pretty clueless.
As you mentioned, none of their test files work, yet their response seemed to deny any problem on their end, to the effect of saying "some streams may not be compatible, contact the source of the stream".
Just plain useless if you ask me.
Now if only Radio4's listen again site did windows media (which works, er, 40% of the time)...
Incidentally, did you know Auntie Beeb is planning on a video service for their TV programmes? High quality 320x240 optimised encodings of their past week's programmes (ideal for PocketPC, in fact they've given a lot of PPC devices to their staff to test). Could be fantastic.
thanks for your reply
any other suggest?
how it's possible that no one have my problem?
real player really doesn't work on windows mobile 2003?
it' a big BUG!!!
It could be 2 things afaik
1 realplayer doesn't like nat. It needs to open aa connection back to the mobile device to send the data. The device opens a control channel, and the streaming server opens a streaming data connection. Why does it work on the pc? either the pc has a non natted public ip address, or the player falls back to streaming via the control channel, this isn't happening on the ppc player.
2 ppc realplayer doesn't like http streams and only supports rtsp streams
thank you for yout technical reply
i can only reply on point 2:
the links provided (rai) directyl redirect to rtsp streams files
if you watch the clip info during the first loading, real player ppc show the correct rstp location
i'll try with ppc2002
last year it worked with wifi connection
always seems ok (configuration & requirements):
http://www.expressresponse.com/cgi-...st_name=&last_name=&email_address=&telephone=
http://www.expressresponse.com/cgi-...cument&search_input=JSS_0019.html&session_id=[[session_id]]
but it doesn't work
damn real!
i've compliled a support form on real web site, let's wait for their reply..
Its got to be a problem with REAL, as every stream ive tried in windows media player always seems to work.
I didnt manage to get any of those test streams to work.
yes!
with microsoft media player almost all files play in streaming!
Just found buried in O2's website:
Question 5:
Can I use Realplayer with Xda?
Answer:
Yes - all content stored on Xda will be usable. You are not able to stream Real content using O2 MobileWeb at this time.

So I guess they block the necessary ports. No idea why they would want to, but it's their network after all.
Holy crap guys.
Found this works from trying a site on another thread.
I went to http://bol.cnet.com on the browser
then i clicked on "download today's podcast" just after the little paragraph, a box popped up saying it's "opening podcast.cnet.com...." then bam it starts playing RIGHT AWAY in the built in music player!
And no, it doesn't download and play it, it streams it, you can fast forward to the end right away.
I tried it with the other episodes, works just awesome!
EDIT:
I been messing around.
Looks like ANY URL that points to a .mp3 when you click it, it will automatically play in the built in Music Player

Hold up - lemme test this as it is pertinent to my interests.
1) Went to mynorthwest.com to hear this TBTL show from Seattle I dig when the local talk radio is driving me mad and need a break
(show not live atm, so went to archives) Play now option doesnt work - I blame the pop up window they used.
The download it option - SUCCESS, streamed immediately.
2) Went to thestreamcenter.com/PDA/?state=MO (which is bookmarked on the Wing so I can play local radio on demand). Tried 4 different stations - webkit downloaded the asf file and when clicked to play was given a "Cannot Play Video" error. FAILURE.
3) Clicked a random radio station link from the above site, only showed the giftwrapped ? for where flash is needed. I blame the webdesigner for not being mobile compatible raather than android on that one.
So since your d/l of a podcast worked, and my d/l of a saved program worked: I see podcast capability. I have to yet been able to get live streaming audio, someone figure this out and post their results.
I tried to listen to a shoutcast stream and it said size couldn't be determined... I don't think we will see it integrated into the browser... I think it is gonna be a standalone streamer for shoutcast style streams.
I cant stream with Jinzora and it uses lots of different methods like m3u, pls, ask, ram, and xspf. Does anyone know how to get these filetypes to stream to the g1?
I just tried this also and it works perfect. Now only if there was a way to save some songs
I'm not happy that radioio.com/io2go doesnt stream, even though they have mp3 format option.
probably G1 only can "stream" archives, not live
tried .ram, .asx, .m3u, .pls, no luck at all
could someone try this site for me please? this will play a big part in me buying a g1 if it can stream from thus radio station although it uses a pop up amd is live so doubt it will work :/
http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/
link is on top right to listen to station
Nope doesnt work, bbc radio requires real player.
grrrrr and am i right in thinking it does not have fm radio???
WTF
I've had my g1 for 2 days, figured out last night that it wont stream. uh why ?
my crappy old htc s620 was a stream machine , live streams podcasts anything. So is there any update on this ?
don't diss the dash lol, I'm gonna keep my eye out for streaming web sites, a thread with compatible links would be great. there are plenty of apps like "sreamfurious" and "a online radio" that can stream anything you want.
try pressing the stream links with a trackball, dont ask why cos i have no idea why it works, but it does
I was curious to find out if anyone is using anything out there to broadcast their TV Tuner signal to their Touch Pro 2 and it's working...
I have tried Orb, ever since they updated for Windows 7, and although I can get it to work using my laptop, I can't get my Touch Pro 2 to connect. Whenever I try and get the signal to my CorePlayer, it hangs without a signal.
I wouldn't use it enough to get SlingBox, but MyTinyTV that worked wonderfully on my HTC Wizard hasn't been supported in a couple years.
Anyone have any suggestions?

orb and core player
I've found that when using orb some setting need to be tweaked on coreplayer. go to menu>tools>setting then select the network page and set user agent spoof to never. that makes streaming videos work for me. not sure about live TV though.
Who is using me?
Try streaming through Windows Media Player or Streaming Media both are allready installed and seem to work fine for me.
With Streaming Media the video does seem to come in smaller but you can change the buffer up to 25 seconds so sometimes it worth it.
Change stream format in the orb web interface on your phone to:
.asx - for Windows Media Player
or
3GP-AAC/RTSP - for Streaming Media
hey i got SBP TV
its working great u can try this and you do not need to register and full license
Have you tried using pie (via IE toggle) then to orb?

Yeah, I just realized that this is a TV application. I don't care about all these garbage stations that broadcast online. I want my FOX, ABC, NBC, CBS, and others...
My 2cents..
I would personally start with webcam stream apps and set my TV card as the active cam, set the pc up as a webserver/streamer with some obscure port #, set the stream-cam app to stream 2 disk, and then connect to it by direct IP : port with a suitable player on the phone.
I've done this a long time back PC to PC so a friend and I could watch TV together from seperate locations. I searched around and was able to find free apps to set the whole thing up. There are a few webcam apps that have a built in stream server, you can likely find one if you look around.
I got live streaming TV to my TP2 from my computer at home using orb, I use it to watch the world cup when @ work
make sure that when you setup orb, it is able to scan all your channels
then from there you login to mycast.orb.com from Pocket IE and go to TV > guide > then select a channel and hit play
you can set what type of stream orb will beam by going to the orb website in your pc, going to settings and you can pick different stream types so that it will work with whatever media player you chose
How do I use this thing? I Googled it but couldn't find much info. How do I add a server? Is it all done over WiFi?
How to use All Share
All Share allows you to stream pictures, video and music to and from your device over your local wifi network. It should work with DLNA certified devices. It works using uPnP. Basically, you can use it some TVs, home media servers and gaming consoles such as PS3. That said, I don't own anything like that. There is free software the will allow you to access and play files to and from your computer with ease.
I suggest XBMC.
Once XBMC is installed go to:
Configure Sysytem -> Settings -> Network
Check the following boxes:
1) Share video and music libraries through UPnP
2) Allow control of XBMC via UPnP
Now fire up All Share on your device select play file from your phone to device. In addition to your local computer you should see XBMC, select it and enjoy the stream. I've been very impressed with the video quality. I'm sure there are other application that will allow you to stream to your PC but so far this was the simplest solution I've found.
Oh and prepare to be disappointed, Avatar was not an option, aside from the trailer. If your looking to convert your own movies for mobile use I'd suggest you start with Handbrake. It's very easy to use.

This is badass. Worked like a charm... Thanks! And can this be done over the internet? Like how would I stream it to an IP/Port?
Has anyone tried WDTV Live? All share does not see WDTV Live as media rendered?
I want to push video from phone to WDTV or vise versa?

I have been able to stream to my wdtv live with no issues. I don't have custom firmware, just the latest stock firmware.
However, my phone will not see wdtv as a server or nas? Which sucks cause that's where all the media is.
Playon, tversity, ps3media server and Xbmc all streamed media from a hard drive or my pc perfectly.
Playon was not able to stream, online media I.e. Hulu, adult swim.
I've been able to stream videos to my phone using AllShare from two of my Windows 7 machines, no additional software needed. I have a Homegroup setup and just have the the folders containing the videos shared with the Homegroup.

Windows 7 supports DLNA, which is what AllShare uses for media streaming. I'm able to share videos, music, and pictures over Wifi on my home network. I like to stream videos from my PCs to my phone for viewing either on my phone, or on my TV through the video out capability of the Vibrant's 3.5mm headphone jack.
Take a look at this link to enable your media sharing on Windows 7:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/e7/archive/2009/05/12/media-streaming-with-windows-7.aspx
I did have to reboot my PC after changing my Windows settings to see the shared folders show up in AllShare. I'm not sure if this step is required, just my experience.
If you have any other specific questions, please let me know.
Edit:
If you don't have Windows 7, you can install the Samsung server software (PC Share Manager) on Windows XP or Vista, available here :

Thanks for the tips, certainly a better solution than a third party players.

how to use allshare between vibrant and ps3?
hi guys... i've been reading all the threads on allshare but could not find an answer for the ps3 sharing. my ps3 recognized the vibrant right away but there was no content in video, audio or pictures. (yes i did choose files on the phone and added to playlist)..
any suggestions please? thanks...

Holy shiznit....This is bad ass...I can now stream all of my TV shows from my PC to my phone while I am laying in bed. Now I can watch episodes of Burn Notice while my wife hogs up the TV.
I just tried it and it works like a charm.
Those of you who aren't sure how to do it I will explain:
-Using Windows 7, download the latest Windows Media Player
-Add your videos to a playlist
-Open up Allshare and select the second option
-Find your playlist and start watching
Can your iPhone do this?
So i can use XBMC and be able to control video on my PC from my phone, but when i try to play media on my PC to my phone the video and music library says no content. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong...maybe I need my media in a specific folder? I tried my shared libraries in Win7, but nothing in those folders show up.

I had the same issue with Win7. Do you have the latest version of windows media player? If not upgrade, then make certain to select "allow remote control of my player" and "Automatically allow devices to play media" from the Stream tab in windows media player. This should to access the files instead of just seeing empty folders.
It works with an Xbox 360 using media center too.
Pretty useful for showing video clips on my phone via a bigger screen.

Still not working...I have the latest and enabled the two options listed, but when I select from my phone "play file from server on my phone" now my PC doesn't show up as an option.
The only time I see my PC as an option on my phone is if i'm running XBMC, but even then I don't see any videos to select.
Found this video that helped explain how to setup the video library in XBMC which was easy to do, but now when add any of my movies to the playlist it says it cannot play the video even though most of them are AVI...unless it can't play AVI on the phone player...if that's the case, that good sir is LAME.
Almost forgot the link to the helpful video
youtube dot com slash watch?v=bCx0XtWB37w
(can't post links yet with all my noobness)
edit: Found a WMV file on my PC...put that file in the library and added it to the playlist...it keeps looking like it's loading or something, but nevers ends up playing it was never meant to be I guess

Orb Networks
I've been using Orb Networks for years. You download/setup the free server side (your computer) program then on your phone just go to mycast.orb.com and login. From there you can browse your defined folders (I've even set up file browsing on mine), pick a media file and it will stream to your phone via the browser. There is a pay app for Orb but the quality is no better than using your phone's browser. The only advantage I've found it gives you a pretty media library interface. Not worth the $ IMHO.
You will need to play with the stream settings to find the best quality for your connection rate. Seeing that flash is supported in the phone's browser I'd suggest starting there. I generally do a speed test from my browse page if I'm unsure of network quality. On our screens the playback will be a bit blocky but the up side is that if you have a tv tuner on your server you can watch live tv on your phone (or your friends phone, or your laptop, or another computer).
If you go with orb and have any other questions feel free to pm me

Not sure why you can't msg me, I should be able to receive all msgs.
I've looked into other options but have always come back to Orb. My main reason has been I need 3 or 4 different programs to do what Orb does and may of those require both host and client apps. Another reason has been in order to change settings in many of programs, they require that you be at the host computer.

.MKV works but there's reports of sync issues. All Orb really does is transcode then stream your media in the format you select in your settings
some people stream using vlc and the vlc client for android
Subsonic will do this with very slight modification. See my post here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=789717&page=2
The file locations will be different for a mac, but it's nothing a quick search can't solve ;-)
VLC remote is said to be a good choice as well
