Dear all,
I installed Dusk 6.5 Lockscreen 6.5 but after a while I decided to go back to standard WM6.5 lock screen (the "new" one, with the slider). After uninstalling the Dusk Lockscreen, I cannot get the original Windows lock back. No matter what I set in Settings/Lock/Display, I have the "old & ugly" lock with left soft key.
Can anyone send me or post here the original HTC_LS_LockScene480x800.cpr, HTC_LS_LockScene_800x480.cpr, LS_LockScene480x800.cpr, LS_LockScene_800x480.cpr and all related registry entries for the Windows Lock application?
Many thanks,
Radu
yeah that would be great. i need this, too
Ditto - can't get the original slide to unlock method back either. =(
That's because what you are looking at IS the HTC lockscreen and yes it's mega ugly.
The one you want is the WM/WP lock screen and it is a pain to restore. But here is how you do it:
1. Delete the entire Key: HKLM\Security\Shell\Lock
2. In HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\LockScreen\* (SMS,EMAIL, etc)
2.1 Delete each entry for "application command line"
3. HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\LockScreen\Notificat ions\SliderFocus, SliderNotif and SliderNotifFocus edited the value to remove 'htc_'
4. Install TPC default_lockscreeen_enable.cab
5. Soft reset
This will get you back to the default Windows screen with the roundish keys and the three radio buttons (unlock, contacts, email).
Hopefully that is what you were looking for.
Credit for this goes to TwoPumpChump (TPC) he found it for me.
Russ
thanks a lot

Hi,
I have a sim-free XDA II which as it happens is on 02. How can I get rid of that User Interface though - I really hate it, and want to remove it?
Can anybody help please?
Thanks
Rich
goto ad remove programs and remove anything o2 related, then soft reset. Change the dialer skin then all your left with is the boot screens and the o2 logo on the case
I'd recommend chaning the dialer skin back to the default before uninstalling o2 active; there are some images stored in dlls that are difficult to find, but can be changed via the phone skinning applet in o2 active.
The correct order (IMHO that is), is as follows...
1 - Firstly, while you still have the Active interface, use the menu item on the navigation bar, I think it might be listed as 'view' to go in and change the dialler skin to the default one.
2 - Then soft reset.
3 - Next up, now go into File Explorer on either the phone, or via ActiveSync, and go to the Windows/Startup folder, and delete the shortcut for "Active"
4 - Reboot again, to get the phone to load without Active running.
5 - Go into Settings > System > Remove Programs, and remove the Active app, the V2R stff, and O2 Xmail if you never use it. You will get warnings that some files or folders still remain - no problem, this gets resolved later...
6 - Another soft reset.
7 - Now, go into File Explorer again, to the Windows Folder itself, and delete the folder for the V2R stuff.
8 - Change your Today theme to something better looking, do a re-boot, and voila...
If I have missed anything that I think of, I will come back and editt this post, but that's it for now...
EDIT - even if you change the dialler skin back to default before removing the O2 stuff, you will find a strange quirk with the talk/end button, whereby even with the default skin, after ending a call, the old flat red O2 style button will display.
This can be resolved by downloading the XDA Phone Skin Chooser application available from DesignLab (do a google), and then setting the skin to use (even though you might already be using it) to the Default Skin, and then resetting the device. This is the only way I have encountered, other than hard fiddling with hard to find .dll's, to get ALL the buttons to use the default skin, and thus have a proper 'pressed in' appearance when touched.
XDA Phone Skin Chooser will work on my xda2 ?
Nice one Shadamehr. Getting rid of all that speeds the system noticeably

Better than just uninstalling it?
Will removing it in this way stop all o2 related programs reinstalling after a hard reset?
Not sure. I've never tried to uninstall everything.

No, not by a long shot.
As the installation files etc, are stored in 'hidden' extended rom, and all a Hard Reset does is clear your phone, and then set about running and installing any files in the extended rom.
To remove it so that it is not installed after hard reset, is kind of achievable, but only if you know what you are doing.
You would have to use the Extended Rom Unlock tool on this site, to unhide and unlock your extended ROM, then you would have to remove any of the CAB install files from this folder for the O2 stuff you don't want (and its up to you to know what's what).
And then you would need to edit the config.txt file that 'calls' all of these installation routines, so that it no longer references any that you have deleted.
Then you could lock and hide the extended rom.
Thus, on a hard reset then, only the stuff you have left gets installed.
Im just curious, but how do you manually install a dialer skin? I have found alot of dialer skins for the mogul that are really cool, but they are not in .Cab format. I'm not exactly sure how to manually install one. Could someone please give me some info. Thanks a ton in advance.

what i do is install the big button dialer for the mogul and then the touch dialer skin cab on to the main memory to skin my phone with the default skin.
From there in the root there is a folder that says Phone Skin.
Now from here I can either photoshop the skin available or replace it with others that I find else where.
So once I install this big button dialer, there shoudl be a folder in the root directory that I can install the other skins?

If you install the big button dialer cab for the mogul. It will replace the dialer skins that are on the phone already but it wont have the Vouge buttons.
If you want to still use the Vogue type of buttons install the Touch skin cab to go with it and once you do this will place a folder in the root : not \Windows, where you can customize, delete and replace for others that you might like. I found out by experimenting and it worked for me.
I will hunt these two skins down, and start experimenting myself.

If you want i can send you the Big Button Dialer CAB, and the Touch Skin CAB that way you can start skinning from here.
Just PM and i'll send it to you or I'll upload it later because I dont have it with me at the moment (School)
Her is the Big Button Dialer cab along with the Touch Skin Cab for those that need it.
Install the Big Button Dialer cab first then the Touch. After your done soft reset your phone. This should work on all TITAN phones. It says mogul but it works on my XV6800.
Skin problems...
Okay, I've installed the Big Button thing, and then the touch skin, but when I restarted, all of the buttons are fine, except for the 1 button, which appears as the native Mogul dialer button for 1, which looks distinctly out of place. Functions fine, just looks ugly, any fix for this?
HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\CDMA, Set EnableVoicemailIcon = 0 then soft reset.

Erm, sorry, not quite advanced enough to grasp that. Is that a folder\file thing or a registry thing, if it's a registry thing, where do I edit the phone's registry?
Edit: Nevermind, remembered that HKCU is a registry path, the rest is now obvious, just need to find a registry editor.
Edit 2: Found a registry editor, problem now occurs that "Access is denied" when I try and edit that particular registry entry.

Hey can you post some of these?
"Now from here I can either photoshop the skin available or replace it with others that I find else where."
or explain a little bit how to photoshop them? I am familiar with photoshop so I dont need a walk thru, but there are 26 graphic files in the PhoneSkin directory. Which to edit?
Also, I followed these instructions and your downloads, but when I push a button, the whole button turns white. really all I am looking to do is have it turn the matching blue when I press a key (the same blue that's in the dialer window by default)
thanks.

sorry for not being clear on my post. there is a program called tdial designer by tiermann ( search for it) and this will help you creat your own skinable dialer.
this will even fix the issue when you press a button and have receive a white button display. just chose your dialer carefully. i recommend the bluefrog aka new vouge dialer.
the regurlar vouge dialer will impair some functions on your phone. once you create the skin, it will generate the picture files and a cab for you to install.
the reason why i mentioned photoshop is that i add more details onto my dialer skins and modify them more ' to look unique ' or to stand out.
hope this is what you needed.
Oh no need to apologize, your posts are great.
I do have the Tdial Designer v1.1.0
I have the BlueFrog Big Button Dialer installed
I open the Tdial Designer (TDD) and from the Options > Dialer I choose "BlueFrog (or new Touch)". Everything looks great until I click on w=one of the buttons, then the same issue arises, it just whites out the whole key. The options below the "Down:" options are no longer available. If I switch back to Options > Dialer I choose "HTC Vouge (or old Touch)", then the "Down:" options are available. I hope this makes sense.
I did try to save a few that I was testing. Looks like it outputs the files and a cab file. Am I better off just copying the files into the PhoneSkin directory or running the actual cab?
Thanks again for the help
best regeditor in my op!
http://ceregeditor.mdsoft.pl/
but its editing through the PC and not the PPC so you cannot do on the fly editing... but I love the full 22" screen editing of my Mogul's registry

I recommend using the CAB. Because the image files only displays the dialer in standalone more ( not in use ) but the CAB once designed properly will show a customized dialer that includes the smart dialer color customization, and even the buttons when they are pressed.
I will load up a picture of how one of my alien-reanimation themed dialer looks, along with the cab if you want to install it.
thanks for sending that it is very cool. The issue I am having now is that when I install the cab it is not over riding the default one. do I need to uninstall the blue frog dialer? when I install your cab, the default dialer comes up and not yours. I look in the remove applications and what I believe is yours is listed as MyPhoneSkin. I just cant seem to get the new themes, yours or mine to apply to the phone.

No worries. I just need some information from you first.
Do you have a stock ROM on your phone or a Custom one (for example a DCD ROM)
(uninstall all previous custom dialers you have installed; Then )
If you have a DCD ROM then all you would have to do is install my cab or yours and soft reset ( reboot ) and the new dialer should show up now.
If you have a stock ROM you would first have to install the Mogul Big Button Dialer CAB ( dont worry it a universal CAB for all 6800's ) that I will provide -- Soft reset and see if you notice a new dialer ( you might get a dialer with no dial pad, this is normal) from here install your own custom CAB that you have made or mine and soft reset to notice the change.
hey cool deal, OK I got it working. I have dcd 2.3.2 rom. I reinstalled the mogul dialer, then yours and it worked. However, when I push the buttons, the blue highlight comes on, but it is the whole key, I cannot see the number below it. Which I guess isn't an issue cause you cant see it when my finger is pushing it anyway! but I wanna make sure that this is acting properly. thanks again
Hi guys
Been searching for ages now on the forum and on Google and haven't been able to find the solution to a couple of issues I'm having with Sense 2.5 on the official HTC ROM (which was flashed by HTC on repair of my TP2)
1 - the text messaging is useless (for me) in Sense 2.5. I prefer the original Windows mobile way of messaging - how do I get back to that? SMS doesn't appear in Outlook anymore???
2 - None of my methods that worked in the previous WM6.5 Sense 2.1 ROM for making the Start menu appear in 4 rows seems to work?
3 - Shapps Advanced Config seems to disable my settings? I can't get into Remove programs so can't uninstall? Need to Hard Reset?
If anyone can help with the above I'd be very grateful!
Thanks
Hello,
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556614
3. Go to the Manila Settings-Tab. There is a program entry (I don't now how it calls in english ROMs). There you can unistall Software.
Hi ChatFix
Thanks for a quick reply!
I'll have a look at that link now
Unfortunately I didn't explain 3 properly - the settings tab in manilla is not accessible once I install Advanced Config, so there's no way of actually getting back to the Remove Applications icon to be able to uninstall it...

1. I can use Windows Messaging instead of HTC messaging with no problems.
2. I do have this problem, but I believe there is a reg edit specific to 6.5 that my 6.5.5 one does not work on nor does any that were for Sense 2.1.
3. I think your installation of the ROM or Advanced Config is borked. I have no problems at all.
I have found this little tool. So you can disable Manila, uninstall your software and enable manila with the today-settings from windows mobile.
Hi guys!
Thanks for your replies, it's really appreciated
Nagrom - Did you use the link provided by ChatFox to enable use of the Windows Messaging Client rather than the HTC one?
Chatfix - what exactly does that file do? Does it disable the entire Manilla 'home' screen and display the standard Windows Today screen (or WM6.5 Titanium screen) or does it still display the normal Manilla 'home' screen but disable certain parts of the HTC 'wrapper' (e.g. notification bar)
Oh - after the last hard reset, Advanced Config appears to be working OK now, phew!
I'm teetering on the edge of reflashing the old Sense 2.1 ROM, but I really don't want to!
This file disables all Today-Plugins. (Manila 2.5 is still a Today-Plugin)
Hey Folks,
I got since several weeks a custom rom on my HD2, the only problem it the (nice looking but bad locking) HD-Mini lockscreen, which had already been cooked into the rom.
This means shortly said - the phone really often does weird things in order to unlocking the screen, which is really to easy to unlock - especially in my pocket while walking.
So, what I want is the old one back, the stock HD2 lock screen - all this sh*t never happened before (for e.g. uploading 100%dark pics of my pocket to facebook... )
How can I do this without flashing a different rom or hardresetting?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance!!
Maeffjus
Possibly find the original somewhere in the app section, it should over write the Mini one or wait for someone to CAB the original and post it up here
No... a look at the cabs-post was not helpful..nothing there..

Why? Its funny, and in some cases appropriate
Ohhhh my fault - sorry, but I'm not able to change...
No idea - by editing the first post it is not possible..
Also I installed the file I found at the link and it is still not working also after softreset the HD-Mini screen appears..
Why not try Cookie's home tab coupled with the CHTEditor? There are lockscreen layout options... one of the options is what lockscreen style you want.
Just as the other poster stated above, without knowing what ROM you have flashed, one can guess that Co0kie's HTE was cooked into it thus leaving the locksreen activated by default.
From the Homescreen: Goto Menu-->CHTE-->Lockscreen Setting-->ensure "Enable Default Lockscreen" is on and that "Enable CHT Lockscreen is off
Scroll down and there should be 3 options with radio buttons next to each
- Manila
- Windows
- HD Mini
Choose one.
Or the problem could be with the ROM itself; it's cocked.
the mini lock screen uses a different dll so just restoring the original lockscreen file won't work, the registry needs editing to make chome use the original dll.
sorry but currently not in a position to help In more detail.
Hmm tried it with CHTEditor but did only work with cookies lockscreen... the original ones are not working - no matter what is configured, it shows the HDmini-screen.
You may need to get a ROM without it then, or get the Chef to cook one for you
hi guys, i am trying to cook wm 6.5 build 23569. I have managed to boot it in my device o2 Atom. However, after it boot into the today screen (titanium), the touch screen mess up. whenever i tap the screen anywhere, it is always showing me the top taskbar menu. i cant tap the screen down or up, but i still able to go down or go up by using hardware button. i think the touch screen mess up because there is no touch screen calibration after it boot the first time. i have tried to edit .rgu file in OEM driver to
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Welcome]
"Disable"=dword:FD
"Disable"=dword:EF
but, the touch screen calibration still does not show up. any others way to make the touch screen calibration show up after it boot in the first time? i believe this is not hardware problem because i have tried to flash my device to another ROM and the touch still work perfectly.
Use this reg key:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Welcome]
"Disable"=dword:FFFFFFFD
There will be only calibaration screen.
You can't use two reg keys with same name.
In your case you will get only location screen.

The calibration screen still does not show up after i add this to the .rgu . Sigh..after struggling to make it boot...i still need to tackle the problem after it boot too. Cooking really difficult
is not so easy bud and nobodys told that jijiji why you dont try dump again the stock rom then use th enew dumped OEM then or after all of this try to search for an EXT pkg that maybe disable that... remember that ext pkgs are cooked at the end of all process
i have tried to dump the new OEM from stock ROM, but the touch still mess up and calibration screen still not show up . do i need to recmod the OEM driver?? will it make a different whether i recmod or not?
