marty

Make a phone call, move your hand near the top front of the phone, within 3-4 inches display will go out.

ah thanks that works shouldn't it happen all time so if you put it in your pocket or something it would save battery and accidental calls
marty

If you jeans is thick enough you can put it into your pocket with screen on (due to the resitive touchscreen).
But I use a special G-Lock app that automaticly puts my phone off in my pocket

unwanted touchscreen calibration

I keep my magician in my pocket all day, with the screen and buttons locked using screenGuard.
Increasingly I take it out of my pocket to find it demanding I re-calibrate its touchscreen.
This is particularly annoying if I'm trying to answer a call, because the green button won't answer it until the screen's calibrated.
So, what's causing this? Is it some button I'm holding that screenGuard isn't catching? I have no idea.
Hello,
So you mean your screen alignment changes often? Do you have a protective film on top of your screen?
No, as best as I can tell the screen does not lose alignment.
Something unknown is launching the calibration program while the device is locked.
the shortcut for aligning the screen is the centre buton on ur directional pad button and the calender button pressed together. maybe ur scren locking program is not working. try keeping it out of the pocket for few days and see what happens!!
Hi , i think that the swet coming from ur pocket enter under the touch screen , so don t put again in ur pocket ,,
Now look, we TyTn folks do not have sweaty pockets - heard it all now - sweat sensitive TyTns, perhaps we need to spray the screen with Sure for Men? and all those female TyTns will come to the rescue?
i have found when i kept my magican in my pocket it requires screen realignment at times.but if i leave it in its case i dont get the problem.
dont know why but i guess its due to the extra heat.

it just turns off

hi,
I got a XDA mini. The battery cover is actually firmly attached to the phone. But everytime I touch or slightly slide the batterycover the xda turns off. So it became almost unusable (take it out of the pocket - it turns off, trying to call - it turns off)
Now I figured out that there is a tiny switch next to the battery (on the right side). Obviously it became too sensitive. I tried to tape it - it didnt help
Does anybody know how to avoid turning it off when you slide/open the battery cover? (I guess its like one of the hardware-buttons, can you turn them off? Registry?)
Or can anyone provide another solution?
I really need help - the phone is unusable.
tnx for any answer
simple , find a tooth pick that has a sharp point (easy to break toothpick) pok the switch ( lower space between the switch and its base. ) and snap the toothpick to make the switch in on direction ( upward) . you can use small paper and stik into the gap use puller , dont use metal object. it will coz short to your board. and i thnk ders no way program can overwrite it. you cant do programing if your computer is unplugged.
Are you sure there is no software way to disable it? I just thought of somewhat like "Buttonx = poweroff", like the Camera button.
Cause I wonder what happens if the switch breaks off ... Guess you cant turn it back on then.
I dipped into the registry - and there is a button-section, but i dont have a clue what those strings are for.
Well - if there is no other way - then ill try it with the tooth pick
I tried it
it worked for about 4 weeks but now its the same thing - i gues there is sth like a loose contact.

im facing the same problem: yes, it sux. how in the hell HTC had that stupid idea to put a power off button contacting with a cover, and above that, it's a tiny little switch, so prone to become damaged!! GRRRR

the right side

well... a very very stupid question :-D :-D :-D do you use to put the kaiser in the original (or non original) case with the screen turned inside or outside?
ehhe, thanks
stefano
Screen face in towards the body. Less chance of breaking the screen if you bumped into a corner or if something poked the case. Rare but it happens. Thats how my son lost his iPod screen. The screen was facing out in the case and he was pushed into the corner edge of the cafeteria counter.
Yes... I have think the same observation... The only two think are:
- the button to silence the incoming call is under, so you must pull out the pda to turn the joy and silence the ring;
- With the original case when I try to pull out the phone with a finger under the case (where there is an specific hole), the keyboard slide open itself... I must do more attention to pull out the phone without open the key slide.
Bye!

[REQ] knock, knoc...

on display (twice) and display is light on....
stupid.... ????
i see this thing at nokia and looks fun.
this uses the g-sensor or the touch screen ?
i mean in the nokia
I'm sure it would be the touch screen, since you tap on the screen twice.
The only bad thing is that you'd have to have the screen continue polling even in standby. So while your display might be off, the touchscreen would not.
You also run the risk of having the phone being turned on while in your pocket.
While I think it would be a neat "trick", unless you can set the pressure threshold on the "knocks" high... so mild screen touching/tapping while in your pocket cannot activate it.
I think it is possible using the g-sensor though... It would have to register 2 minor down-up movements. (When you tap the screen your phone moves down and your hand holding the phone would move the phone up again to "normal held position")
Well true, it could be done that way... but imagine the phone in your pocket doing the same thing every day.

[Q] Proximity Sensor Driving me nuts

Hey
My proximity sensor keeps stuffing up. When I make a call, and put the phone to my ear , it turns off the screen but when I release the phone from my ear, the phone screens remains off and I cannot access the phone untill the other party hangs up
This is a real pain when they do not answer and their voicemail comes on and I need to leave a message. I have to turn off my phone when this happens
I have fixed this but it only remains fixed for about a day
I have cleaned it, blown in the area where the proximity sensor sits with a straw ( did not have air compressor can) worked for about a couple of days then it stuffs up again
Not sure what the hell I can do to fix it now.. Buy a new sensor? I have a screen protector but there is a cut out where the ear goes
Go into settings, accessibility, then tick 'The power key ends calls' It won't turn off the screen.
I had that problem, I took the sensor out and wiped it, seems to be fine now. I saw a video online to help me, not got the link readily at hand though
