So i bought a broken G1 on ebay. The person said they could not downgrade to RC29 so I figured it would be an easy fix.
I turn on the phone and it loads up perfectly. I get to the screen that says "No SIM Card" and then I need his email and password to get passed this which I don't have. I hold HOME + POWER and it goes to the multi-color bootloader. I then try CAMERA + POWER and it loads the bootloader. I put the DREAIMG.nbh file on my FAT32 SD Card (MD5 is correct) then I get this screen/error.
Now whenever I try to power on the phone it goes straight to the bootloader but now I have the RUUNBH flag. Here is what I see
Code:
DREA100 PVT 32B RUUNBH
HBOOT-0.95.0000
CPLD-4
RADIO-2.22.19.26i
SEP 2 2008
I think you need to reflash the spl (RUUNBH). Then flash the rest, look up the fastboot commands to make it a little eaiser.
But because it fails at the recovery, grab a new recovery image and flash that with fastboot.
I cannot get into fastboot. I see the Serial0 screen but nothing happens when I push 'back'

So today I decided to root my g1 so I could get Android 1.5 I downloaded the DREAIMG.nbh file over wi-fi and shut off my phone and went into the bootloader. When I press the Red end button to update the bar begins to progress and when it is finished I get the following message
DREAIMG.nbh FAIL

Update fail
Now I'm stuck in bootloader with the screen with the three colored bands (red green blue)
It says

I am unable to get out of this screen. I removed the battery, put it back in and tried a factory reset. It went straight to the bootloader. My next idea was to go here or google an answer and I found some users with similar problems but I am NOT a developer so I could not understand anything that was being said. Can someone tell me how to get out of this in layman's terms?
try redownloading dreaming from a pc to your sd card via a micro sd card reader. if dont one have go to best buy or whatever is close and get one. then try loading it the same way as you did before and make sure your phone is good and charged. make sense?
Ugh. I received a MT3g from a person on Ebay who said the phone was stuck in a loop. Thought I could easily fix it but this #@#! phone is drivin me crazy!
As soon as I turn the device on it goes straight to HBOOT with the following information:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32B SHIP S-ON G

HBOOT
<Back> Fastboot Mode
Hitting the "back" button does nothing, and therefore cant get into Fastboot. I have tried putting the original sappimg.nbh on there..and it starts updating everything with the bar on the top right corner. Everything says its successful, but when it reboots it goes straight back to the HBOOT. I also tried putting the sappimg.zip on there, and when updating I get a "Model ID Incorrect Update Failed" error. The sappimg.zip files that are on one of these threads is for rooting the MT3g right? I have the perfected SPL as u can see, but as of now I just want a working rom...dnt care if its stock. Like i said, loading sappimg.nbh seems to load everything, but goes right back to the 3 Anroids on skateboards.
Did you try installed the SDK onto your computer and running commands to maybe boot up a the RAv recovery image?
The maybe from there you can flash the phone.
Yea I already have the SDK...I should have stated I'm no Android noob..just a Mytouch one. But this baffles me. I cant access Fastboot because the "back" button does nothing, thus it cant connect to my computer. However I can flash images on it by placing the .nbh or sappimg.zip on them..but like i said, i get an error with the .zip and the .nbh seems to update fine but still brings me to the Hboot screen.
So I have bought a HTC Magic in Singapore about a year ago.
Some of the information about my phone before it got stucked in HTC Magic power-on screen:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON A

I found a site that helped me to get my phone rooted as follow:
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT-1.76.2007 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-6.35.08.29

Soon after, I started searching for new ROM elsewhere and managed to update my SPL to 1.33.2007 and that's where problem starts to occur..
My phone get stucked on HTC Magic screen display forever.
I was eager to get this problem solved and have not done enough research before I got myself in a worse situation with the phone hbooted like this:
SAPPHIRE UNKNOWN 32A SHIP S-ON G
HBOOT-1.33.0006 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-2.22.19.26I
May 27 2009,19:06:41
Now I can only enter hboot and fastboot.
Can somebody help me to at least get back to my original ROM? I don't wanna root my phone ever again..
Help please~
If you can get into fastboot you're fine. Just flash 32A radio/spl again and then the desired ROM. Old radio/spl - 1.33.X/3.22.X New radio/spl 1.76.X/6.35.
yeah when turning on the phone hold home and power, if you get the recovery menu then you got nothing to worry about, just flash the proper rom and all will be fine, there is even a stock htc rom with root around here.
right here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622038
but you dont have to go back to stock, you just need to put on a rom that fits your phone. i personally suggest this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654284
so good luck post back when you get it figured out
Thank you Reziukas and sike89 for the reply..
I will try the ROM recommended in the links. =)
I cannot get into recovery (-Home- & -Power-) now due to the perfected SPL (1.33.0006).
And whenever I use the goldcard method that flooded over the internet, I always get this "Main version is older!" failure message.
I think I have made the goldcard correctly cause it worked while I was trying to flash my 1.76.0007 SPL to 1.76.2007.
Any idea?
when you hold home and power what does it do?
did you root your phone with the recovery-RA-hero-v1.6.2.img?
I did but after I flashed RADIO-2.22.19.26I with SPL 1.33.0006 I can't get into this recovery mode anymore.
When I press Home and Power, it starts booting but stucked on HTC Magic screen forever..
Easily said it, I can only enter hboot (vol down and power) and fastboot (back and power) now..
Procedure
1.Turn your phone off. Turn it on by holding Back and Power, or Vol. down and Power. Either way, boot into the bootloader.
You should see the three Androids on skateboards, and the menu title should say "Fastboot".
2.Connect your device to the computer. The display on your phone should now say "Fastboot USB".
3.Open up the shell/terminal on your computer, and type
fastboot devices [enter]Your device should be listed with it's serial number, and should say "fastboot".
4.Change directory to where you have saved your recovery image. I.e. type "cd /path/to/recovery.img in windows prompt, press enter.
5.You may issue a "dir" command (Windows) or "ls" (Unix/Linux) to make sure you are at the right directory, or just skip this step.
6.Type
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Check your phone's display, as recovery is being sent and flashed to your device.
Check your command prompt/shell to make sure the process is over.
i got all that from Binary100100 who got it from here http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/RE-recovery-img
give that a shot
also maybe this might help

I seem like I cannot use the fastboot command in 1.33.0006 SPL??
Whenever I type a fastboot command and press enter, I always get an error message.
>> ... FAILED (remote: not allow)
Do we have any windows application that can help to bypass all checking on the phone stats and proceeds with fastboot flash directly?
Perfected spl, you need to make yourself a goldcard
Goldcard doesn't seem to work..
Whenever I try to flash a new radio, it prompted me an error message "Main version is older!"..
What to do?
when it says main version is older it means you need the goldcard.
do you have a working goldcard? if not use this
http://revskills.de/downloads/psas.zip it will make the gold card.
No need for phone?
Hello there.
I was reading this thread and I'm having a similar problem.
I have a question, sike89.
Is it possible to create the goldcard just with the software you mentioned?
My magic 32a will only go into fastboot (stuck at splash screen) and so
I won't be able to use my phone to create the card.
Thanks!
As mentioned by YamatoDelgato, I cannot boot up my phone and thus far I am unable to re-create a goldcard.
But this "goldcard" I am using right now was a working goldcard and I am surprised that it doesn't work all the times..
By the way, I found an alternative on internet saying that you can use other HTC Magic phone to create a goldcard for your phone; Although I am not sure if its gonna work out, just give it a shot..
Sike89, am I right to say that this application does not require any HTC phone in order to create a goldcard?
I can just format my SD card using PC and input the necessary information into the application to create goldcard, is it true?
Problem Solved...with a Sacrifice.
Well I managed to get my phone booting again.
I have a rogers phone so I used their "mandatory"
update (2 sappimgs) to get my phone working again.
However, this resulted in getting the dreaded
SPL 1.76.0010 meaning I can't root it easily.
However, I know that with a working
phone that I now have, I could use it to obtain
a gold card.
Boy that was scary!
I'm so scared to try rooting again but I probably will hehe !
Thanks to xda community and google search!
I lost my original nandroid backup but did manage to install an original ROM on my 32B (Vodafone). Took some work but it worked Afterwards I wrote a tutorial about it (google How to restore your custom ROMed HTC Magic (Vodafone 32B) – a walk through, I can't post links yet).
Please i need help with problem, i have the G1 with this prblem and when i put in tricolor screen show me this:

no appear version software.....and i try to make everything and nothing happen.
You have the original stock SPL (HBOOT-0.95.0000).
Download this and put it on the root of your SD card, make sure it's named as DREAIMG.nbh exactly, case sensitive. Go to your phone and hold down the Camera and Power button to enter bootloader mode. Flash the file and restart your phone, you'll be on a stock G1.
Hi
I have very similar situation. My G1 doesn't go in recovery mode and when try to power on, only vibrate and shows TMobile G1 and restart.
With camera and power I have this

I did try with file from previous post but the same.
Any help?

If you have a goldcard try putting the orange.nbh from my 2708 kernel/radio/1.33.0013d spl thread on the root of it named DREAIMG.nbh
If you don't try r29
If you take the orangespl you can continue to install 1.33.0013d directly with the info in that thread.. with rc29 you will need to re-root and look up spl 1.33.2003 for a safe way to install a recent rooted rom.

Thanks for reply but I don't have goldcard. Maybe I tell you story of this phone from the begining. It was stuck at G1 logo (it didn't react for anything, whatever you did it stuck at G1). I repaired it with OmniaRepaiTool, after that phone stuck at fastboot.
Honesty I tell you that those are my first steps with repairing Android so I'm asking for understanding
I flashed with DREAIMG.NBH (UK, USA and this from upper thread) but after flashing always only vibrate and restarts.
So finally is there any option to repair it without goldcard?
Thanks for help

This is pretty amazing - my G1 does the exact same thing now.
My history - I was running CyanogenMod 5.something (most recent in the 5.x series). I was removing unused applications and it hung during the removal. My only option was to pull the battery. Now, as with owiec77 I power up and only get to the T-Mobile/G1 screen. My camera+power button has:
DREAM PVT 32B ENG S-OFF

I've done the app2sd setup and tried to pull the SD card before booting - nothing - just sits.
Time to reset totally?
So for me a wipe of the phone did the trick. It seems to be working now.
Yesterday I went ahead and tried to flash the new 2.22.27.08 radio for my mt3g 1.2. I thought I read some posts saying that it is compatible with the mt3g 1.2. after flashing the radio and rebooting, my phone became stuck at the htc magic boot screen.
I no longer am able to enter recovery (home + power) or hboot (vol down + power)
the only thing I can do is access fastboot commands: when I power on the device, at the top of the boot screen is says "fastboot usb"
fastboot devices shows my device but my spl is perfect spl with s=on so I cant flash any img files. Ive tried flashing all the partitions, even with a zip file but I get the same errors, remote: not allow.
I tried installing with RUU and the command "fastboot oem rebootRUU" but the RUU app cannot find the connected usb device.
a lot of posts suggest to make a goldcard and put the SAPPIMG.zip on sdcard and let it fastboot auto load the file, since vol down + power doesnt work for me i thought this wasnt an option.
here is my phone info:
pvt 32a ship s-on g
hboot 1.33.0013
cpld 13
radio 2.22.27.08
anyone have any suggestions?
I would hate if the phone was unrecoverable but it is an old phone, maybe time to upgrade.

Goldcard method. If you cannot access the bootloader, have no recovery and phone will not start then you just bricked your phone.
Make the goldcard, do a battery pull, put the goldcard in, hold the volume down button, put the battery in and power on the device while holding the volume down button. If it boots to a white screen then your in luck. If not then ask for a new phone for the Holidays.

Thank you for the replay. I just made a goldcard and tried your suggestion but didnt work I also tried different combos of battery pull/ vol down + power. no dice. I guess im sol for now.
thanks again for the reply.
EDIT: haha ya I bricked my phone just in time for the holidays! Cant complain when getting a new phone I guess. I might pick up a jtag kit and try to unbrick the 1.2, just for fun though
