Cyanogen Rom and Pattern Unlock Feature - myTouch 3G, Magic General

I am running CM 4.2.4 and I have seen a lot of threads talking about people being locked out for trying the pattern unlocker too many times and then getting the wrong password error. I was wondering if the CM fixed this in any way.
I am hoping Cyanogen made it so that you have to wait 30 seconds or whatever extended period of time before another attempt. I am particularly concerned because I don't have a data plan and being locked out would mean hell for me before I can access my phone again.
Also, does anyone know if a simple nandroid restore would fix the lockout? Or is that not included in the nandroid?

I goofed, and I don't know how I did it

Last evening, I put a new ROM on my phone, which has been rooted for quite some time running Goldeneye with no issues prior to earlier this week, and the rom installed without a problem, but when I went to flash an addon for the rom that came from the dev, the entire thing went south. I was using TWRP which is what's been on the phone since it was rooted, I do NOT have MF3 on the phone however after this install through TWRP, the phone how has the unlock icon on it, and won't boot past the samsung screen. If I try to get into recovery, it boots into odin, and freezes. I tried to do a recovery through Kies, and it just says connecting, then says the phone is not responding. For the first time since I've owned this phone, I feel well and truly stuck. Any help would be greatly appreciated, since after almost two years of rooting and installing ROMS on various devices from Samsung, HTC and Motorola, I made a mistake somewhere along the way and I am not even sure what the hell I managed to do, and the multiple forums I've been reading on here don't seem to be getting me anyplace. Apologies if this is a repeat and I missed a simple solution somewhere, but I've been at this for almost two hours now, so time to swallow the pride...
Think I figured it out
Well after writing this, for my own personal sense of masochism and an overall morbid curiosity, I kept reading, and figured out how to get the phone to actually boot into proper recovery mode (as in NOT Odin), and was able to get a ROM back on the phone, as I didn't care for any of the nandroids I had there. As I am not sure that anyone actually viewed this before I resolved my own issue much less had a chance to respond, it's not appropriate to thank anyone for solving my own problem, except for the poster of the thing that I read which led to my resolution, but I will throw out a blanket thank you to all those that take the time to develop, write, and help others solve the stupid stuff, it is appreciated, at least by this Ohioan, who sometimes manages to get in over his head!

[Q] Encryption removal problem - CM to TriForce

I have been running CM (currently CM11) on my SGS4 since I bought it from Sprint in summer 2013. However, Sprint changed their international partners pretty seriously in the past 2 years, so I *really* need a PRL update for international travel. Normally the easiest way to do this is to reboot to stock or TriForce, run the "update PRL" and "update Profile" options from in TriForce, and go on with my life.
But I encrypt my phone. So I had to boot into TWRP, wipe and format *everything* and make sure the phone came up unencrypted in CM. All is OK.
So I reboot, flash TriForce 5.4 custom with stock (not KK) kernel. Flash works fine, I reboot... and am prompted to decrypt the device before I can do anything. None of the decryption passwords I've used in the past (I checked my password safe) are working. When I flash back to CM, it boots fine, and the settings says that the device is not encrypted.
I downloaded and tried TriForce 5.2 and 4.0, both are giving the same problem. I have used TriForce in the past on this phone, so it SHOULD be fine....?
Someone in #twrp said that the location of the encryption key changed from Android 4.4 to 5.0. So my only remaining thought now is that there was also a change from 4.3 to 4.4, and the encryption key for 4.3 didn't get removed in the wipe, and since the partition is NOT encrypted, the decryption, even if I have the right key, fails, so I can't get into the phone. Hope that makes sense.
Anyone have any guess better, or, if I'm right, know what I need to move/edit to fix this?
Followup: IRC #sgs4 suggested a full install of stock via odin, so I'll be trying that on Saturday, after I can get a new stock rom downloaded overnight. if there are thoughts before then, I'd love 'em.

Followup - this was never solved before I dropped the phone and shattered the screen (literally days after this post). So if someone runs into the same thing... good luck.

Thanks for the update, I was actually going to suggest stock ODIN instead of TriForce, but you are saying it did not work ? It's good to know for the future. I was initially going to encrypt my phone a long time ago, but I had concerns about decryption when switching ROMs.
My question is why the encryption was not removed after the format ? I've used TWRP to pretty much hose out everything inside the phone, so it's possible the encryption location is located somewhere else. I came across this article:
http://money.cnn.com/2015/05/21/technology/resell-android-phone/
So I guess even after a complete wipe everything ISN'T removed. Maybe your encryption was also stuck as well.................................... What new phone are you getting ?...................................

I was never able to get the stock odin download. The whole problem came up because I was going overseas... I got around it by just buying a local SIM rather than using the Sprint roaming (again, I was doing all this just to update the PRL. new GSM SIM = no PRL update needed). On the way home less than a week later, I cracked the screen so bad the LCD and backlight wouldn't even go on.
I replaced it with a Nexus 6. A bit big, but it doesn't suffer Samsung software awfulness, so I didn't have to flash it with CM to make it usable.

pattern passcode lockout issue

Hi all. had an issue while trying to load up LinageOS last night. Was having trouble with keeping root. Seem to have solved that by using Magisk 11.6 and the SUaddon rather than any superuser version.
Anyhow as part of this i went back to a TWRP backup of which i had 3 different versions (stock and lineage) available being a bit ocd with backups. They all flashed ok, but for ALL of them, when the phone booted it kept telling me had wrong pattern when i tried to unlock. Not good. Thought only way back was to factory reset and do all the app loading and setup again.
After a bit of searching found this thread and this post.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=69189392&postcount=65
Worked a treat.
The other methods didn't and i suspect are obsolete.
Anyow, posted for info if anyone else runs into this problem. Success dependent on having working TWRP and being able to boot to that as you need to use the File Manager capability in TWRP.
Seeyahs!
Same thing happened to me last week, when I tried lineage, found the answer on HTC forum,.
So avoid that from happening , before you make a backup, unlock all securities( pin, password, fingerprint) then make a backup, next time you restore your backup, it will boot without any issues.
ta for that. will try.

[Q] (Dumb): Relocking?

So, I'm pretty new to rooting, and I've had a blast toying around with this phone (and wiping and restarting and loosing all my data a few times ).
Right now, I'm running the 7.14.30 update, with TWRP 3.1.1 installed, and Magisk 14.5 as well.
So, my question is, "Can I lock the bootloader without getting it stuck in a bootloop?"
I know the answer's probably "no", but I just want to know what I can do.
Maybe is there a way to remove the unlock warning screen at boot?
Thanks! You guys are awesome!
You need to be unrooted first then probably you can try locking bootloader. or else you can live with the warning it's not that bad.
Does the warning screen really bother you that much? I would say nothing if it was showing like each time the device is unlocked, but honestly, how many times do you restart your phone during one week? Once or twice?

Help, I think I may have bricked my phone. :(

I had attempted to install Evolution X, and after installing Magisk I had an issue with WiFi not working.
After reading another thread where a user had success installing PQ1A.190105.090 from fastboot, I decided to do the same myself.
After installing PQ1A.190105.090 it does not go through the setup process, and instead asks for PIN. Entering the PIN causes the phone to crash right back to the lockscreen.
I even tried wiping Data from TWRP (Which also asks for PIN and says it is incorrect)
I think I managed to mess up my phone, can someone be of assistance? Thanks!

No expert here but I am pretty sure I read on here of others having had issues and thus advise to disable PIN lock on the phone before attempting. Might want to try a search on here for that and it should point you to how to fix it.
Hopefully others that have rooted already will chime in for you. I am still stock 10 due to the whole A-B slot thing that has me scared.
