Recently I have ordered new case for my Magic. This is it:

because my old one was sctrached.
Now my idea: I am in business with plastic, I have old mashine, I just need tools for case and I can start with production of HTC Hero like case for our Magics.
I want to make it the same as Hero, but it can't be curved as Hero, that will be only difference.
Now I need about 2000 EUR for tools, I can provide 700, but I need about 1300 more, so I need donors.
Every donor will get free case (who donates 10 EUR or more), as soon as we start with production.
Price for our case will be about 40 EUR for anothers.
Please post in this thread if you are interested, you will help me to find out how many people will like my idea.
DONATE FOR PROJECT!!!
Current project balance: 955 EUR
My company 700 EUR
Mario Lupino 60 EUR
Ignasio Saadiq 60 EUR
Davor Ruzic 90 EUR
Janus Kepler 45 EUR

Hi,
can you expalin more about the project. Which material will you use for the case and will you make the molds for the injection machine in your own company ?
We will use high quality plastic materials for production, than we will paint cases in black, brown and white color and than lacquer them.
We need about 2000 EUR to order molds for our machine so donation is welcome.
Soon we will have blueprints of case and I will post them.
Man, i like your idea of changing the look of the hardware. But as you may know, Hero has a very controverse design and in my case, i just bought Magic because i don't like the design of Hero! ;-)
So maybe you should think of one or more designs of your very own and start a voting on it. This way you could see how many people are interested in this and it won't get a flop. And maybe it would be an idea to collect binding agreements from people who want to buy one. Shure, it's more work for you to do in the beginning, but i think people are more confident in this project this way...
Please don't take this offending - just my thoughts on it to help you getting successfull...

Thanks for your point. Which designs would you recommend? I want to put all designs in voting.
Well, like i said - i love the design of my Magic and wouldn't change it for now. But all in all, i think people like it slick and clean. A small border around the display - personally i like the design of Leo/HD2 (although it has a too big display for me...). It's difficult because of the scollball - if you lay the Magic on the frontside, maybe it will brick the board if pressed too much. That's why we have the bend in Hero/Magic/Dream.
There's a lot of investigation to do in productdesign (just like HTC has done it before itself). 3D graphics, visualization, etc... no one wants to pay for something he has not seen before.
So, if you really want to start this kind of thing, be aware, that there is more to do and invest than you maybe thought of.
Hope you get my point of view...
I would love htc diamond like shell
Btw is it for 32a, 32b or both of them??
It seems interesting
What a rip off deal...
It is physically impossible to put hero's casing on magic... your deal is such a rip off but you might find some idiot to donate some money... the internet is loaded with idiots...

I don't want to put magic in Hero Case, I want to make Hero like case compatible for our magics (it will looks like Hero, but not same dimensions).
Please read the first post before complaining.

Hey, is it still actual? I would donate about 15 euro. I really like design of Hero and I bought Magic just because it has the same hardware for better price.

Hi guys i'm new to this forum and i'm interested in HTC HD really much.. i read all posts from this forum and i have to say that are really helping me to decide to buy it. However i've read on other italian forum that some guys (3 or 4) that has HTC touch hd brand tim after 3 days have their HD stripped! And i think it is really frustating! See the image..
Have you guys the same problem? Do you think could be a difectous and limited production or is a factory problem??
thanks,

I'd expect a replacement for this. Having said that I just lived with my peeling Trinity until it got so bad I got some emery board and sanded it down to the plastic - far nicer than the original imho.
The phone comes with a soft case, I've kept mine in the case while I've not been using it, also when I've been out have kept it in the case in my pocket (mainly cause every phone I buy seams to end up getting scratched by something in my pocket - keys etc).
Personally I think the phone in the case feels less bulky in my pocket than my Kaiser, despite the slightly increased H/W size.
I had my HD for sometime and not a single problem, its depend how user curry their unit and handle. I will recommend the htc soft case to use always
I have the italian tim version too, from more than 1 week and no problem, I always use the soft bag could be this the problem?
Really thanks guys for your replies, please i need many feedbacks (especially from italian owners of brand Tim) to make a better opinion..
P.s. i'm italian and it interests me to know because in Italy it is sold only branded Tim and if i decide to buy this HD i have to buy a brand Tim.

Mine was always protected by the HTC case, which was came with the phone and look after very well so what can done this, can it be heat that build up by casing? dont yet know.
any other ?
No problems with mine but then again I never had much problems with any phone. I take good care of them...
People that bash them about and expect everything to be perfect is another story.
Are there good plastic case that completely protects this device? I'm sure this would prevent stipped paint problem.
now guys you got me hesitate about buying it, do you mean it has a poor manufacturing quality, that the paint fades easilly what a bummer
Man I have been so careful with my phone and i have the problems too. They are very minute but in 4 places. SO angry. Maybe if i use a black permenant marker to touch them up - it may help.
UPDATE! I just touched the scratched with a black permanent marker pen and left for a moment and then rubbed in with my finger. It DOES help to disguise the defects. A temp solution for everyone.
had mine 2 weeks & yes, my paint is falling off, I have been very very careful with it & never dropped it, im going to speak with provider today, this is not acceptable on a phone that costs this much.
other than that I love this phone.
Guys there is a huge thread about this, read it!!!!

Oh yeah, and winmobile 7 please...
(this is not a real phone, it's the HD2 made bigger, not larger but fatter, with photoshop, to highlight the possibility to attach a PicoP (now available as PEK for business tryouts) and the extra room for battery capacity -> for running the PEK)

Given how much effort HTC put into making the HD2 as thin as possible (low capacity battery, no front-facing camera, etc.) they clearly think you are the only person in the world who doesn't mind it being thicker and heavier. I doubt you will change their minds.
Yeah nor me!
If i wanted a fat phone I would of bought the N900! lol
Come on, it wouldn;t be that much bigger....
Maybe 3mm????
If they are going to bring out a Pro version, with maybe a keypad, than I'd rather have a picop than a keypad.
Having a touch pro at the moment, I dont mind this thickness.
With a screen that big, and a slightly bigger version like mentioned above, I reckon it wouldn't change that much in pocket space than I now experience with my Touch pro.
And if I had one, I wouldn;t do anything else in my pocket to prevent scratching!
HTC Rules!!!
And i'm not really sure if WinMo7 would be real advantage - Microsoft is definitely going wrong way.
I don't want another beautiful system with limitations on every step. If i ever be stupid enough to pay to be controlled - i'll buy iPoo.
Nokia knows what is going on - N900 has no locks, no limits - system is open and your phone is all yours!
I don't want stupid app store with millions apps and 99.99% of apps in store is complete crap.
All WinMo need is some improvement - full touch-ready UI, better WLAN management etc. And that's all

I don't mind N810. But N900 is a brick with a smaller screen and Nokia always chooses the hardware spec just kind of enough to things it's suppose to do. I think Maemo is pretty much a beta ware in the smartphone arena. No thanks and I'm definitely not buying another crappy Nokia for the time being.
It's not about buying Nokia or not. It's about device - is it yours when you buy it or not.
Even HTC is not fully yours. You have to fiddle with SPL or gold card to change language or system version. It's wrong. I like N900 idea - system is fully open and it's yours. Phone is coming with root credentials and you can do anything you want - if you want.
At the other end is iPoo or Palm Pre - you have no control what phone is doing, manufacturer can wipe software you bought or wipe whole phone. This is good only for idiots, too stupid to know what to do with such device.
I'll be more than happy to see Nokia approach in HTC phone. I know it's not easy, because Windows is not open system. But i don't think it's the reason - on your PC all you need to do is buy licence. You can install different language as long it's same version. If you want, you can wipe HDD and install Linux. I want the same on my phone.

Dude, that statement is just wrong.
Chillax.
Some people couldn't give a **** about registry tweaks, modding, hacking etc etc.. but it doesn't make them idiots!
They have as much "control" as they need. Nobody is wiping their phone and they are not stupid just by being an end user!
It works for them (a good few million of them!), they are happy, leave 'em alone.

Yeah I was thinking about this the other day. When will the first OS-free device come out for consumers? You can choose your OS yourself just like a PC... Just buy the hardware that suits you the best and install whatever software you like the best... That sounds very sane to me!

I applaud your thinking, this is a great image and hopefully continues to inspire discussion on this forum
Eh... just buy the extended battery which is coming out with the enlarged backcover. If there would be some HD2 Pro it would be a phone with a keyboard making it too thick for me. The thinness of the phone is what makes it bearable (in my pocket) so I'm happy with the way it is.
The extended battery IS an option though, will have to see what it looks like with that one on.
so these are the two new phones from Microsoft.

These phones are clearly intended for the "social generation"; success / fail?
well i actually like it. it just shows how awesome windows phone 7's full blown version will be. isnt it ironic that most of the KIN website is done is flash.... lol silverlight WHAT?!
also i like that we wont have to worry about LAG from now on lol...

Don´t like any of them
They should made something spectacular instead of this...
But MS will never loose....

lol, A wink to iPad/iPhone/iTouch maybe??
But yeah, strange indeed.
My impression regarding KIN
The buttons of the KIN2 could be somewhat bigger, maybe have some other look to it, They look like shiny, cheap plastic buttons out of toys..
But then again, these are mock ups, maybe they look and feel great IRL (doubtfull, but no way to tell at this moment).
The Kin1 looks like a girls-phone, there the design works, and the buttons actually look better.
The bottom piece is bigger than to top piece, I wonder how that will work out.
But the resolution of both screens are low:
KIN1 320x240 (QVGA!!)
KIN2 480x320 (HVGA)
And Kin2 is supposed to be for video watching?
Come on, please enter the year 2010, I am not asking 1080i on a mobile, but VGA/WVGA is totally feasable..
EqX
What the hell does kin mean? Why did my apartment cut off my cable? Why is my mom orderin cable from at&t? Why am i mad? Why am i writing in all caps? Why do i prefer kin 2!?
I think it's a good first attempt at cutting into the Android/Palm market. I know plenty of chicks that would be into this stuff.

So these are original, running wp7 core, purpose designed, well built, purpose packed, zune pass over the air, updates over the air... retailed with Verizon which the kids like...
I think MS got a winner, it will sell well, the UI is gorgeous.
If this gets the backing of XDA this could be amazing.
The lack of 3rd party apps is a slight worry though.
I wasnt expecting anything good with these phones after all they are made by "SHARP" and SHARP suck d**K in technology products. For those that own a product sorry...what ever you say it sucks and I am not interested in your comment.
Bare in mind that these 2 phones cover the section of crappy (low tech) handsets in the market.....like from Nokia, SonyErric, LG etc.
If you actually compare the CRAPPY handsets out there and chuck these 2 in with them these phones actually PWN them all !
SO well done introducing something new and PWN'ing the crappy handset market.....NEXT !!

You clearly haven't seen some of there Japanese phones, there actually quite good.
They look 'kin awful.
I think the KIN ONE looks cute we will have to wait to see what they really like?
This Kin stuff, aren't Microsoft like wasting resources on another seperate os?
This is kind of neat. You could argue it's not really a smartphone, but I like it. It's a brilliant piece of minimalism - it's all the essentials done well and nothing else. The big question for me would be the browser. If the browser's great then I can really live without most apps, if not I can imagine it feeling restrictive after a while.
To the gentleman above, I don't really think that MS is wasting resources here. They're probably reusing a lot of the same code, and just tweaking the UI for a different effect. But what an effect! I really don't think there's anything else like this one the market.
Neither appeal to me...you would have thought MS could have done way better than those relics!
Do we even know what screen size each device has? I will say I am kind of envious of the fact that the Kin 2 has what could be a nice 8mp camera with flash.
Honest to god those might just be the two most hideous phones I've ever seen.

I personally don't see any problem with the packaging. It's the PHONE we're interested in anyways; we're all going to throw the box out fifteen minutes after opening it, in any case. This might not count as groundbreaking news regarding the phone, but every little bit of information we get on the phone before it's released is always nice .
Looks like a huge box, ha ha. It's kind of cool in it's own way in my opinion. I plan on keeping it. At least the phone should be pretty well packaged! Hopefully a lot of goodies come in that thing.
Looks like something you buy a pre made meal in. I'm a little bummed that the contents were a little light but given the price you can't expect many extras.

I dunno about it coming in a metal case. Surely that would cost a significantly higher amount for Sprint to produce, which would possibly lead to a higher device price.
I'll take my Evo for $200 if all I have to give up is a nice box, please.
The box is ridiculous. I saw it when it hit the net and the box is silly stupid. Not that it matters, it could look like a penis and I would still jump up and down with joy when I got my hands on it It would have been cool to have a minimalist case like the iPhone, htc hero, motorola droid has. Even the bigger box of the incredible, but this box looks humongous. It may not actually be too big, but regardless its an odd shape.

agreed i guess, you have the case around for all of 20min then you chuck it.
I just think it would be cool to get this new advanced phone in a streamlined sleek case. I want the case to look as good as the phone. This one looks like something from 2001
I think the case is meant as a joke. They made this phone sexy in so many ways. I think someone felt that they had to do something wrong, even if it was intentional. As the title says, where do you put ur old phones? GF, sell, throw away, donate it?
I'm pretty happy that I managed to sell my HTC Tattoo, but maybe there are phone models which can't be sold anymore because they are not valuable anymore...
i have plenty of friends with less money then i
Selling my Htc magic hehe to a guy that was honest with me that he wants to buy them to fix and re-sell them (doesn't care about condition), and a good price too of 235$ canadian.
unless I can find higher i'll sell to him.
can't wait for sammy phone
The store I ordered it buys the old phones
As I do with all my old phones, give it one of the nursing staff who need it better than I.
EDITED:
Forgot to say, it's an HD2
The phone i'm currently using is having its last breath and i don't know how it's working right now :\
Plus its company had a bankrupcy so even if i tried to donate it ,it'll be thrown back at my face ... guss what is it ?!
Its name is O2 Atom Life , i had Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 before but it died in front of my eyes so i went back to the mentioned device >_>
When i buy Galaxy S i want to do something with my O2 that'll makes me feel good and right now the only idea i'm having is throwing it from a high place
Gonna try to sell my bricked G1 on ebay. Hopefully someone would need parts when I do.
Giving mine to the GF, its the HTC Desire, which I still like immensely and want to keep around to play with when it gets Froyo etc
o2 mini
Putting my legendary O2 mini as table clock. Task reminder and daily weather report.

...... That's the trouble with Wives, they NEVER, EVER forget.
Men work in single-cell attitude.... we see something, and either walk away or buy it.
Women on the other hand are complex multi-cell beings, wholly composed of unknown quantities of interconnected or interwoven argumental parts.
....My heart goes out to you.

Thank you man.
But, I love her and I especially love the idea to make a HD video of the crushing & perhaps burning session with wicked and wild look in her eyes.
I'm looking forward to the death of my Diamond since it is already half-dead and I'm really annoyed of it.
Greetings

In that case.........
So very, very mad at my G1. A trip to the desert with my 12 gauge will set things right!
Use it as my drunk phone when I'm out and drinking.
Or maybe I just use my even older W850i for that.
X1 wasn't really cheap when it come out and I dont know if I want to lost it when I'm drunk.
It's still awesome phone.
Ill send in my nexus one to google to get it replaced for minor cosmetic damage. Then i'll either sell it, give it to the wife (which is unlikely since she drops and loses all the gadgets i give her) or put it in the draw on top of my Xperia X1i.

Dont even make me bring up umbrellas ... The loss of my umbrellas brings a tear to my eye ... they were not just regular umbrellas they were art.
A week later after she had borrowed my umbrella ... "Hey babe do you know where my umbrella is ..." She replies ... "Oh, yea, I forgot it in the train, im sorry. Can i borrow this other one its pouring outside?"
At that point I just have to give up and give in. It is a helpless cause ... what did i get myself into.
I can't give my old one to the misses, she already wants a Galaxy S too, and being Korean she thinks she's more entitled to the first one!
I'll probably put a stock ROM back on my HD and offer it up on FreeCycle.
I'll keep my touchpro and drop the sim in it when I'm out on the water. That way if my phone goes swimming at least it's not the galaxy.
