SRS iWOW or similar for the HD2? - HD2 General

Hi all,
Does anyone know if there's a version of SRS iWOW or similar that will work on the HD2? I've searched the Leo forum and I'm quite surprised that nobody's mentioned it (apologies if they have and I've missed it).
I don't know what it is with HTC, but they really seem to struggle getting OK-sounding speakers into their devices. Even the tiny speakers on my ancient and cheap Samsung E780 flip phone sound much better than any HTC device I've ever owned.
I've had SRS iWOW on my Touch Cruise for a couple of years now, and it really is absolutely essential for music and movies. I've really been missing it on the Diamond and now my HD2, since the sound quality through its speaker is the only weak point I've identified with my Leo so far.
Is there a version of SRS's software that'll run on WM 6.5? Does anyone know of any alternatives out there?
Thanks,
Rob.

Well, it is indeed available, check this.
However, I fear that the audio enhancement will mainly be perceivable with earphones...

Thanks a lot mate - that's exactly what I was looking for. You're right about the effect through the speaker though. The improvement isn't as dramatic as it is on my Touch Cruise, but it's definitely there. Great stuff.
Thanks again,
Rob.

It is great. It seems that there is no SRS WOW that is working with Touch HD WM 6.5 late builds.

advice please

hi all, im relativly new to all this having had an n95 for the last year or so.
I have the choice of the samsung omnia white 8gb or the htc touch hd. With the omnia ill be on a 12 month contract, with the hd an 18.
Anywya, its driving me insane trying to decide, so id appreciate any advice you could offer.
the way im looking at it at th emoment, i like the fact that the omnia has a flash, built in memory and seems to be faster (reading on here there seems to be a driver issue with the hd).
The worrys i have about the hd are the driver situation(reading on here people seem to have delay issues with tomtom and i use gps quite alot, and weather without the device will be powerfull enough to run heavier apps and the lack of a flash and inbuilt memory.
However, what i love about the hd are the community you guys have. Looking at the forum (i may be totally wrong) but itlooks like you guys are not far away from getting android working on it, which would be cool as. Also, i like the way you can use the features from the other phones such as touchwiz and the xperia squares thingy.
Anywya, i dont know much atall having used symbian for the last 6 years or so , so please give me your honest advice.

Couldn't have put it better!!
Only you know what you are looking for in a phone. Look at both specs, read up on both of them and evaluate which one is best for you.
Both have pros & cons, but you are right, xda developers is an awesome community to be part of and the tweaking & roms available are of great use!!
Is there likley to be any resolution to the driver situation. Im hoping that with the release of the magic mabey we will also have android running perfectly on the touch hd.
But then if i go for the omnia, its only 12 months i have to stay and i get the flash camera.
The omnia techinically looks just as powerfull as the hd touch, but with a lesser community of devs.
Grrr, descisions descisions!

Camera on the Omnia is superior to the HD's, but I don't really use the camera function as I have a 10MP camera anyhow. I stated before, it all depends on your usage. If your looking for an Android phone, there is other options out there as Android on the HD appears to still be a long way off!
thanks guys, i think ill go for the omnia. I use gps and camera alot, so with the lag and no flash of the HD i think that just sways it for me.
And the omnia is only 12 months, so i can upgrade in 10 at xmas. Hopefully by then the htc will have resolved problems with the drivers and mabey have android running.
Omnia looks like it can do pretty much most of the things the hd can do and only downside is the smaller screen and resolution .. am i right in thinking this?

What you could do, which is a bit risky, is trial them both, i.e. get the HD and try it out for a couple days then return it saying you aren't happy, then get the Omnia and do the same thing. If you prefer the Omnia, just keep it etc
I had an Omnia for a few days and returned it as soon as possible for a Touch Pro (now have HD).
Omnia was rubbish, screen is poor, especially in sun light. The Op/sys was extremely unreliable - they've probably fixed this by now. There is no stylus except on a string and the interface is just a simple overlay on top of windows (bit like TF3D) so you need a stylus. Sound was excellent, camera was OK but I'm not a big photo maker with PDA.
The sensitivity of the Omnia acceleration detector is either too sensitive or not enough, I was not able to get it right. The touch screen sensitivity is poor - it needs a hard tap to make things happen.
What else? memory was not so big as on HD, screen resolution is not as good as HD, HD is just way way better.
BUT, it's a personal choice. However, I would highly recommend waiting for the new Omnia now and not buying the old one.
how do you find theHD though? In videos i have seen it seems to stutter alot and lag.
mmm
I got the touch HD , as I fell in love with the Orginal Touch .. I use PC's alott and starsted getting thumb strain with Nokia phone .. so went to the Touch .. loved this .. then went to the HD ... bigger screen etc.. I love it .. what It cant do .. is not worth it ..
i had the same dilema myself and i ended with the HD
if you want a brilliant display, cool factor and xda community go with the HD
if you want a decent camera, snappy interface, huge memory and avi movies with no conversion go with omnia
all other things are more or less the same and more or less acceptable
good luck!
thanks alot guys

I got the HD, my wife the omnia.
The HD has a much, much!, better screen. I don't see much difference between the camera's (except for the flash I suppose, but I don't think she ever used it).
As for GPS:
We tried it, driving with both telephones running Garmin software.
I didn't see any difference, the voice directions came mostly simultanious or at most within tenth of seconds from each other and to be honest, I have no idea if the omnia or the HD was the echo
No way I would ever want to swap my HD for her omnia

I don't use videos much but I do use the youtube application and it's fine, I never get a stutter.
It probably depends on the coding/format being used.

Agreed, don't use videos, but I do find it annoying that when playing music you get an occasional stutter/blip with no apparent fix yet!!
How do you find the data charges when using youtube a lot?
cheers guys, orderd the omnia now in white.
thanks
Someone found the right thing to do with an omnia:

As to data charges for YouTube, I use this over wifi and not GPRS so I use it for free!
I get no noticeable GPS lag in either TomTom or Google Maps.

Some questions before buying

Hello all my first post here
I wanted to buy HTC TOUCH HD to replace my N95 8GB since i like WM phones but i have some questions before doing this:
1_How is the overall build quality of this phone ?
2_How is the audio quality in both headset and loudspeaker ? for example compared to devices like my N95 ?
3_How is the screen sensitivity?
4_Is it upgradeable to windows mobile 6.5?
i've many reviews but i wanted to ask the people who own this phone
Thanks
build quality is outstandind
touchscreen is wonderful, can even be tuned with a 3rd party program (hdtweak).
I have myself been running a custom made wm6.5 for about 3-4 months already, but it's everyone's choice if you want to use custom made or stick to stock.
can't really say or know if htc is going to release a stock 6.5 for touch hd or not.... those who know are not allowed to say - those who don't know have grown bored to continually to ask that
abe
thanks and how is the sound quality ?
Amiri,
The phone's build quality is sturdy. The only point is that it creeks once in a while when it is at a certain angle in the central part of the back cover due to the empty hollow space between the back cover and the battery. Slipping a piece of folded paper will be able to fix this issue easily if it bothers you that much.
The screen sensitivity is fine. However, due to the nature of resistive screens, the corner of the screens are not as sensitive as the center portion of the screens. In reality, we're talking about a 20 ~ 30 % difference in pressure required. Will you notice this? Yes. Will it bug you? Unlikely.
And no, the TouchHD will not be getting the -official- 6.5 upgrade. However, I'm sure rom cookers will get theirs in. If you want the stock upgrades, go with TouchPro2 or TouchDiamond.
Cheers.
thanks well i like TOUCH HD more than Pro2/Diamond2 because of bigger screen also i like its design more,
but u guys didn't talk about the audio quality, how is it ?

TC,
I'm sorry but I don't know much about the headjack quality as I don't use it much. However, the speaker is pretty hollow and low on the bass. Nothing to yell about. My w800i has a much better speaker.
I'm sure the headjack output will be good if you used quality earphones.
Cheers.
the sound quality through the headphone jack is outstanding !
i have the nokia N95 as well and i can tell you that it is much better and much louder (the n95 was not that loud, at least compared to the HD).
i don't know about the speaker quality though. it's good for calls but no clue about music...
by the way, the stock earphones are good enough (at least for me, but i'm not a music whore)

hey mate, congratulations on making your mind for the move!
I too had changed from nokia n95, first time going for a windows mobile, and here are my thoughts..
about the build, it seems solid, compact and no squeezes what so ever.
touch screen sensitivity is alright i guess, i find it to be sluggish a bit when trying to browse through programs, its a bit glitchy. But then again, this is my first windows mobile, so am not sure how it performs compared to other similar devices.
About sound quality, having had a nokia n95, it is utterly disappointing, you have to say bye to the beautiful stereo sound of the n95. when you set a ringtone and receive a call, it sounds like an old radio ( the one with one speaker and a big knob to tune). headphone quality isnt a whole lot better either, definitely inferior to n95. You will have to sacrifice sound quality for functionality...and i must say, its worth it so far i am loving this phone, apart from the continuous paranoia of scratching the screen, and the constant wiping of fingerprints of the screen, this phone is truly brilliant!
One more thing...you will be a little disappointed with battery life, its 2-3 days max if you use it ONLY as a phone lol.
Good luck

Just to add to alien79's comments:
One thing the HD (and other windows mobile devices) has over the N95 is the ability to add additional software, tweaks, new OS, etc etc. If you search and read threads in this forum along with the wiki you'll notice that you can completely flash a new rom with tweaks for speed, smoothness and stability as well as fixes for sound quality, stuttering etc. All you need to do is search, read, ask questions and you'll find that almost everything you seek is awaiting you!!
Yes the most reason that i'm getting a winmo phone is because of its customizations but i really need a phone that has a good audio quality,i'm getting mixed results here one say its better than N95 the other guy says its worse my only concern is the phoens audio quality now,and i am getting mixed answers

You remind me when i decided to buy this phone and had sleepless nights thinking if it was a right decision , dont worry though, its a forum, getting different responses is anticipated, as people have different opinions, and different music taste. Ofcourse having a good headphones is going to improve the sound quality, and as Fallen star mentioned (not that i have tried yet, as am still a noob) maybe different roms and tweaks can improve sound quality. Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about the phone`s speaker...you will have live with it, and having such a great phone in my opinion, makes it easy to ignore this minor slip....
lay back, relax and think microsoft
So loudspeaker is bad? strange because gsmarena.com gave "Excellent" to TOUCH HD's loud speaker:

that is a decible scale, solely to measure the "loundness" of the sound, nothing to do with quality. Bear in mind that an airoplane as around 120 db sound scale, that aint pretty sound eh
So if the phones audio quality isn't good i guess i have to wait for a better model from HTC

Diamond 2 worth it?

Hey guys,
I currently own a Sony Ericsson Xperia, and am possibly looking for a new phone. I love the look of a proper HTC phone, with Manilla ofc, because I love it, and they are good quality phones. I can't decide between a Diamond 2 (Topaz) or a Touch HD (Blackstone) and would like to know what you guys love so much about the Diamond 2.
Be it custom ROMs here, features etc. I would love to know what you like best =)
Thanks ^^
The only difference is that blackstone has a little large display but the resolutions are same.
And the blackstone has no zoombar. But its no problem.
If i were you i'd choose Blackstone.
Both worth to your money.
I love Topaz because it really feels more like a phone compared to the Diamond. I also like to watch alot of movies and series on my phone so a big screen was seomthing I needed (movies looks amazing on the screen btw).
The phone is really fluid and smooth and I haven't installed a Custom ROM because the Stock is really good (under 50% RAM usage all the time except when I watch movies of course).
If you like to listen to music and watch movies, pick the HD (it got 3.5mm jack, tho you can buy a adapter to the Topaz for $5 or something).
And now for a difference of opinion...
I find the blackstone to large for a day to day phone, and prefer the diamond 2....

I agree. I had the choice of either but chose the Touch Diamond 2 because the HD is too big for my pockets.
Man.
The TD2 can do VGA (640x480) videos, the HD can't. Though don't expect the quality to be as good as a proper camera doing VGA videos.
i'd keep your cash and stay away from htc all together...this phone is nothing but problems and faults.....just look at the board and see how many people are complaining about things with it.
I should've got an Iphone...even though i used to be very anti apple everything.......at least they work
I love my TD2 - I think it has a perfect size. It's snappy. I use it with SPB Mobile Shell and it works great. The only bad thing with the TD2 is battery life -I get under one day with heavy use..
If not TD2 I would definately not go for Blackstone -but wait for HTC Leo...........

Same here with the battery life, but if I let it in standby over the night (6-10 hours) I don't lose more than 10% on that time which I think is damn good.
I made a test yesterday and watched as many movies I could on the phone and I could watch a totalt of 3h 20min before it died (100% to 0%).

Ditto on the battery life. I find Manila a bit too finger friendly. I've got the Topaz Essential ROM and SPB Mobile shell 3 running on it and its real smooth. There are a few quirks here and there as with any other phone but HTC makes one of the best Windows Mobile phones on the market, great for business or pleasure.
I prefer Diamond 2 cuz the screen fits girls very much. Compared with it, HD is a little bit larger than that. I have to take the phone everyday and the HD is just too large for that.

I wouldn't listen to this. The Topaz is the best phone I've had yet... well worth your money!
I considered getting a blackstone, but I also found the screen too large. I would consider the Topaz to be an upgrade on the Blackstone. It has slightly more functionality, it looks better and since it's newer it seems to be better supported. (e.g. It will be getting the windows Mobile upgrade and a new Manila soon - Not sure if the blackstone will be getting these Of course you could always have these with a cooked ROM)
I just got mine for 2 weeks and so far I got no complaint.
When I try out Blackstone and Topaz I feel the touchscreen work slightly faster (this might due to firmware) and blackstone with silicone case cannot fit my pocket.
Also smaller screen with the same resolution just give you a crispy video playback and to my surprise the built-in media player actually work better than core player. (at least for h.264+aac encode).
PS. Go to hell with iphone I you love sending messages forgot about iphone. It would make your life harder. I usually a pro apple (owning power mac g3-5 + mac pro) but iphone is just a fad...

Good luck to take the right decision for you!
Can any of you D2 owners compare the external speaker to lets say a BB 8900? I know it can't match TP2's speakers but how much worse is it?
The external speaker is located aft under the camera lens and lighting. Sound can be tuned to maximum loud and clear sound bearable. But there are many complaints as they coulcn't hear any audio (no ring, no alerts, no music) coming through the external speaker on BB 8900.
Does anyone know if the "rumored" 3G AT&T version of the D2 that's "supposed" to be released in October has 3.5 mm headphone jack? The leaked pictures do not show the top or lower edges of the phone. Some of the recent releases of the TP2 in the US and the new My Touch 2 have a 3.5mm jacks. I refuse to carry a dongle and the sound quality of Bluetooth headphones are not match for my UE IEMs. This is one feature that makes the iPhone very convenient.
YES!!
I owned a NOVA (ELF) for 2 years, which was not a bad device at all, but the new Diamond 2 is much better. The in-hand feeling is wonderful. I did not have problems until now and I am also happy with the battery duration.

How good is the Leo?

Hey guys, just sold one of my TG01's and was thinking of what new phone to get. I've been thinking about the Leo, but im not 100% sure yet, how are you guys liking it or disliking it?
any other phones you guys suggest?
well
From my point of view it is the best WinMo phone out there. It does have its issues but they are more from a perspective of it could be done better and does not compare to other competing phones.
The iPhone is also a great phone but a different audience. I personally would/do get frustrated with a iPhone but would easily buy one for my wife.
In every aspect the HD2 tops every other phone and once you get it in your hands you will love it. My battery usage suxs as I can't help picking it up and playing with it. It spends more time being fondled than actually making calls
Video playback is a dream. Screen is great to use and its big but you don't even notice it in your pocket.
5 stars from me.
It's a spectacular handset a far as i'm concerned. Obviously some people have experienced bugs and so they'll have a different perspective, but so far my experience is overwhelmingly positive. I came from a kaiser, and the performance feels like a huge leap. Full desktop-page web browsing is astounding - but maybe those coming from more recent phones wont be so blown away. I just can't believe how quickly it renders desktop content, how smooth the scrolling is, and how readable it all is even at quite a low zoom level.
The handset really is a joy to use. In the past i've had issues with winmo forgetting wireless network keys etc. - no such misfortune here. It's storing 2 or three and switching between them as i move around the building with no hiccups at all. Battery life feels better with wireless on too, but i have not measured this empirically.
I would prefer more apps to auto rotate out of the box, but there are already posts around the net (probably here too although i haven't looked) about easily brining in this sort of tweak. That's the reason you get a phone with this sort of platform really - the flexibility it affords you. The experience is completely customisable, although that said, it's pretty damn fantastic straight out of the box
Leo is the best wm ppc out there right now! Of course all the good scoops are in the threads in the Leo section...
Great phone, best PPC without a doubt.
Certainly not topping every other phone in every aspect, as one person above suggests, but very good.
One line summary of the HD 2: A rough diamond waiting to be polished.
Either wait until Custom ROMS are avaliable or just get a DROID / Milestone
If you like WinMo, Leo's the best WinMo handset at teh moment. Probably you will have to figure out what you really expect from a handset.
Btw, Milestone yuck! Just sayin'
I heard on two main issues:
1. Pink tint on the pictures (is it fixed yet)?
2. WinMo typical slow downs over time. Lags, etc, even on the Sense UI level. Is it true?
How does it compare to units like HTC Pro for instance in terms of smootheness and lags?
I have leo for two days and I can say att the device is lovely,is big but dont take any place when i put them in my jeans pocket, the touch screen is the best one ever, but is some annoyings bugs in them, wait for a uppdate of the rom for to by or try to fix,I wil tell you some of them in my device:
-audio manager crash after 45 sec to play a song with my memory card(sanddisk16gb)
-pink color in album with the camera pictures
-when you take a picture the music stop and you need to go to the player and start again to play the song
-bluetooth sound is like a AM radio and the volume can´t be controlled(SE HBH-IS800)
-dont play the almost video format
-maybe is coming something more in the way
my previous device:Xperia x1 and many many others

1. Haven't made many pictures yet but I know I don't have to expect much from the HTC camera's unfortunately. Was the same on the HTC Touch Pro. It's really a shame they don't put better camera modules in their phones but ok... The pink tint IS an issue appearantly and doesn't seem to be fixed yet.
2. Haven't noticed any slowdowns like this... There is the occasional hickup
but they seem to be caused more by a certain application or part of the sense software then by windows mobile.
Compared to the HTC Touch Pro and Omnia Qwerty Pro (B7610) it's fast. I really notice a difference opening apps, going through files, going through settings, etc.
Browsing is a dream, much faster then on the HTC Touch Pro and B7610 as well. It seems my connection is better but also the cpu makes a difference. And then there's the huge screen, REALLY helps a lot.
Same goes for playing videos. Again the screen and cpu make it such a delight. Videos unable to play on the Touch Pro and B7610 play very smoothly on the HD2.
They onscreen keyboard was a problem for me in the beginning, I had a really hard time typing even one word correctly. Now with the firmware update this seems mostly fixed. I still miss keys every now and then (I don't use XT9 correction) but I find typing to be much easier now. Coming from phones with hardware keyboards this was one of the main issues for me, how would it be without a hardware keyboard, but again the screensize makes this very doable.
All in all I'm loving the phone so far...

-audio manager crash after 45 sec to play a song with my memory
card(sanddisk16gb)
-pink color in album with the camera pictures
-when you take a picture the music stop and you need to go to the player and start again to play the song
-bluetooth sound is like a AM radio and the volume can´t be controlled(SE HBH-IS800)
-dont play the almost video format
-maybe is coming something more in the way
my previous device:Xperia x1 and many many others

About the audioplayer 45 second crash. No problems here, is this always the case for you? I use pocketplayer most of the time though, no problems listening to music 2hrs continuously (in the train).
I heard the audio player also stops/pauses/causes problems when the device goes into sleep mode. Something I had on my HTC pro (and believe samsung) as well. Pocketplayer solves this as well...
Have the SE HBH DS-980 bluetooth headset myself and no problems, heard other complaints about the sound quality (and some fix which I haven't tried yet) so perhaps my standards are very low. Pausing, volume, etc controls are working just fine though...
Also no problems with video (formats) playback, again might be due to pocketplayer because the default media player is kinda limited indeed.

when will the custom roms be avail? anytime soon? anyone know?
Coming from a SEX1, I find this phone to be a huge sigh of relieve. I love it, it's fast. Reception is extremely good.
Camera might be better IMO, personally I don't experience the pink hue, but when taking pictures and watching them on pc I find they aren't good quality at all.Maybe fiddling around with settings would do the trick, but I'm illiterate when it comes to camera settings.
As I said, I love the phone. Pretty sure, you'll fall in love with it.
Its Awesome
Compared to other WinMo phones I have ha I can tell you that the Leo is awesome. The screen is a real winner, yet the overall size is far more comfotable that the hermes or Kaiser that I had before. The sense interface features are stunning. I am extremely happy with my purchase and waiting for the chefs to start tweaking the ROM...
I've owned the TyTN I, TyTn II, SEX1, Palm Pro, etc and the Leo/HD2 is the best WM device by a large margin. One area people may not have mentioned is the great battery life - the best I have seen in a WM device, especially given the size of the screen and the CPU speed.

Cutom roms are ready for cooking but the HardSPL needs to be completed yet before they can be flashed to peoples phones and I havent heard much information on that yet.
HTC Herald > HTC TouchPro > Samsung Omnia > HTC HD2 <--- The best of all. Of course has issues as all phones, but its speed and responsiveness blacks them out.
whats faster guys, the HD2 or the TG01, anyone knows? i had the TG01 actually had 2, sold one, and using one for the time being, they are both TG01 and HD2 1ghz, but which one is faster (software wise i guess)
One of the biggests facts making me like the hd2 is the fact is has a capicative screen, so much more responsive, no more getting your stylus of using your fingernail to get things done. Just a very slight touch

TD2 vs TD1 - opinions please!

Leaning towards getting a TD2. Currently have a broken TD1, which in general have pleased my needs. Would love if some TD2-owners with TD1-experience could help me with some information.
1) How is sound-quality; a) ear-speaker b) speaker c) headphones connected with help of usbmini/3.5mm-adapter. (I find that there is always some noise, or hissing sound, on the TD1. Would be disappointed if the TD2 have same problems)
2) Screen quality; colors, touch responsiveness?
3) WiFi, GPS, cellular radio connectivity?
4) Coreplayer performance? (considering TD2 have more pixels but same processing power, compared with TD1)
In general, I very much welcome any input comparing the TD2 with the TD1 (I have googled for information on this but have had trouble finding good sources).
Thanks a lot in advance!

I have not owned a TD1 and am quite happy with my TD2 having had it for 10 months but surely there are better phones around now? I guess they are mostly Android phones but the HD2 also looks mighty impressive with a capacitve screen, flash, 3.5 mm phones jack, more RAM, bigger screen (ok maybe too big) and the snapdragon chip. I personally would be inclined to go for the Desire or HD2 right now but maybe they're not available to you.
I think in a year's time you will be envious of these snappy lag free phones. Sense, whilst improved on the very latest ROM, is a bit laggy such that I use titanium.
Not sure this is the input you want but anyway

Your comment reflects exactly why I have such a hard time deciding.
Why buy a one year old phone?
I have tested the HD2. I feel it might be too big for me, the resolution is also borderline low in my opinion, for that screen. Some sense-text even look fuzzy and unsharp. Also, I don't mind using stylus for small software buttons. And it is 200€ more than the TD2.
Yea, the desire. I've had serious thoughts about it. I have tested and looked at android videos, but I'm not sure android adds that much functionality really. I have grown to really like WinMo6.x, it does what I need in a logical and satisfactory way. Don't need thousands of useless apps.
But as you say, why pay 350€ for an old TD2 when the Desire is just 100€ more...
I have not entirely excluded the HD2 and Desire yet.
Thank you for your comment.
I welcome more comments on this difficult decision. (TD2 , or HD2, Desire)

1a: Depends on headphones. I use Sennheiser CX400-ii G4me and I get incredibly good sound quality (using Pocket Music Player, AWESOME music player).
1b: Ok I guess, on high volume it gets bit distortion but it's ok.
1c: Same as 1a, I have only experienced that sound you bring up in some videos (like a wind all the time right?).

Very good, you can edit the registry and change the responsiveness of the screen.

Very good, the only bad thing is when you watch a movie and you see raining water or fire, that will cause some minor lags but not a problem. I would suggest you downloaded an encoder and encode the movies to .mp4 and watch them with the inbuilt media player (has hardware acceleration, coreplayer doesn't).
Hope this helps
Thanks for the input ArtieQ.
Do you have experience of the TD1? I.e., should I read your reflections on the TD2 as relative to the TD1?
Yea, I've been using Pocket Music Player for the TD1. Although, I mostly listen to podcasts on the phone, therefore I think noise/hissing sound is more noticeable compared to when listening to music.
What software would you recommend for encoding movies?
I read in your signature that you are getting the HD2, perhaps you would advise me to get that as well. (a new TD2 right now ~3500kr, new HD2 almost 6000kr ... yea, I am also from Sweden )
More input always welcome.

Yes I do, I had the TD1 for like a week and I decided I wasn't happy with it when I watched Youtube reviews on the TD2. I'm not sure if you should take my answers as an experience from the TD1, but rather from the TD2. I never really watched movies and stuff on the TD1 (pain for the eyes to watch it on a screen like that, widescreen ftw now!).
I use this encoder, be sure to put the right resolution and video input

About the advice on the HD2, I rushed to buy a new phone really, I knew the Leo (was called that at the time) was coming but I decided to buy the TD2 anyway. I regret that now and I see no reason to buy the TD2 instead of HD2 really.
