This is just weird, i have been using the flash while taking photo, but today i was unable to activate flash light. I can press on the 'flash button' but it won't change into auto mode or on mode. Any suggestion?
This seems to resolve itself now. The only thing i can think of is because of low battery. The battery was around 15 % when it happened. i charged my phone 5 mins ago and it is at 21% and the flash is working again.
it looks like it auto prevent the use of flash light to save some battery when it is running low.

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone else is having the same problems.
When I go to bed I turn the PDA off. The phone is still on.
When I wake about 7 hours later I find the battery is at 60%.
What's the deal? I thought it was supposed to have 150 hour standby life.
I do find something else quite weird. When I turn the PDA off the screen turns off and it all seems fine. I have the button lock turned on so no other buttons will work. After a couple of minutes, if I move the volume slider up or down the PDA will beep. Then if I press any of the buttons such as "Record" "Camera" and "Calander" Nothign seems to happen.
But when I turn the PDA on the "Recoard" "Camera" and "Calander" applications will load.
It is kinda of like it isn't turning off the PDA at all.
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong or how to fix it?
Thanks

if grps is only and bluetooth is on and maybe messenger and or icq is on it drain the batt
GPRS and Bluetooth are both on but GPRS is not connected. And Bluetooth is not connecting to anything.
I don't use messanger.
Would that still be draining the battery that much?

Cyeoh,
Unfortunately, I know exactly what you are going through. Your phone is entering a mode called 'resuming', it’s a low power state that does not turn on the display, etc, but will respond to hardkeys, volume slider, etc......
I'm guessing your XDA2 goes into 'resume' while trying to find a GSM signal, (are you in a weak area). This is my problem, you can read about it here...
http://www.pocketpcpassion.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=38598
As a test, you should turn off the phone, (flight mode) for one night and compare the battery in the morning, (I'm willing to bet is almost the same as when you left it). Alternately install an app that monitors cpu usage, (like the one in the above link), and you probably will see a similar pattern to mine.
The registry solution does help, but causes problems with Bluetooth, (at least it did on my device, nothing a soft reset didn’t fix, but it was VERY annoying)….
If it is your GSM phone, you might want to try using another GSM SIM card from another provider, (maybe a friends) and see if you get better results. When I switched to a better provider I got an increase of 10% on the battery, (not great but something!)
Thank You very much.
That does answer a lot. I do have very bad reception at home. I guess this may mean I need to leave it charging over night. However I do find the XDA does charge very quickly which mean in the time it takes me to get ready for work it is back up to 93%.
I will put it into Flight mode tonight to see what happens.
It's still a little bit ****ty and it seems to be because of software. Hopefully they will fix it in the next ROM update.
Thanks
Cam
How did you go with your test last night cyeoh, did your battery last a little longer?
I'm intrested to know as when I charge my battery over night in the morning its still is not on 100% untill I do a soft reset or disable and enable flight mode then it pops up to 100% and stops charging... yet a nother feature of some software I've installed or the ROM version at the moment!!!
I am having problems with my xda2, the battery only powers the unit for around 5 hours.
This is when it is in standby mode, i.e screen off, no apps running etc...
Also has strange led behaviour, instead of flashing once every couple of seconds it will start to flash quickly after the unit has been on standby for about 5 mins. The led starts to flash dull green then progressively gets brighter, It will flash 16 times then go off for a second and then the sequence starts again.
Anyone else had somthing similar and how did you cure it ?
Thanks in Advance
If CPU consumption. If it is low ( below 10% at idle )
U should change the battery. this is no software problem.
Is this normal? I was on about 19% and it refused to enter the camera app, giving an error. A soft reset fixed this but the flash refused to start but is now working normally following a charge. Was this an intermittent fault or normal?
Cheers.
Yeah, this is normal, using the flash with the battery power that low is a bad idea for the battery, can cause an abnormal discharge I believe.
This is normal. The limit they made is 20/100 for battery. After that flash light is grayed out.
I tried to use the camera tonight, and I couldn't get the flash to work on either Automatic or set.
Any advice?
If you have tried it both with it set to auto and on, then I would just swap it out for new one, could be a bad LED.

Camera flash doesn’t turn on?
Using the flash eats up much battery power. To save battery power, the camera disables the flash (even when you have set the camera flash mode to Auto flash or Flash on) when one of the following occurs:
You have an incoming call
The flash will be disabled temporarily when you have an incoming call. After the call ends, you’ll be able to use the flash again.
If you have set the flash to Flash on, it turns back on after you answer and end the call.
Your phone’s battery level reaches 10% or lower
Recharge the battery so that the camera can have enough battery power to use the flash.
Cold weather may lower battery performance which affects the flash
To make sure the camera has enough battery life to power up the flash, keep your phone warm. When not in use, put the phone inside your jacket to keep it warm, and try to avoid sudden temperature changes that may affect battery performance.

Thanks, eltoro, you nailed it.

Had the phone shut down on me twice now, while using the camera and gps on (no cell network), after just a few hours of use from full load. First time, when I went to recharge it, the battery was at 24%; the second time, it was at 68%! WTF?

Looks a little erratic to me.
Did the phone shut down while using the Camera and GPS on both times? Do you have other apps running in the background?
It seems like an overheating problem.

Yes, camera and gps both times; I was testing several cam apps, the second time. But it was because of the battery, not temp. - or so it said.
Update:
Tried again today, and, switching off all radios (Wifi, which "Smarter" Wifi Manager didn't disable, even though I was kms away from any known network, GPS, NFC, BT and Cell), it took the phone the whole of 9 (nine) minutes to go from 99% full to the ultra mode and switch off (which happened at the same time, btw) with 24% of power remaining.
Was testing different camera apps, cycling through them and flushing memory in between (unlike last time, where they all were loaded the whole time), and all I was able to take was 22 pics, and the battery was dead.
Then, 15 minutes after a last attempt to power it back on, connected it to usb, and the battery was at 74% - you go figure.

Bummer...have you tried uninstalling every Camera app you have and use your phone for one day just using the preinstalled one?
In 22 camera apps, perhaps some of them are bad and may cause your phone to randomly shutdown (i have no explanation for the battery percentage randomly showing tough)
Can you provide a list of those camera apps before uninstalling them?
EDIT:
Does the phone shutdown if you're using those apps while charger is plugged in?

It doesn't happen under regular use, so I don't think that's the cause - and it wasn't a system crash, anyway, the ultra mode warning showed up, and the low battery/shut down just popped up on top of it.
The apps I tried:
Open Camera 1.40
Bacon 1.10.2
FV-5 3.31.4
Snap 8.2.7
Proshot 5.0.8
Footej 2.11.113
Nope, the phone never shut down on me while plugged in - individual apps, yes, but the phone itself, no.

Have you tried wiping the cache?
To wipe the cache partition, follow these steps:
Shutdown phone
Hold the Power key and Volume Up for about 8 seconds.
Use the volume button to select Wipe Cache Partition
Press Power Key
Restart phone after "cache clean complete" by selecting "reboot now"

I'm on stock, no TWRP or root, so volume up opens eRecovery, and no way to flush cache there.

Btw, any opinion on 2950mAh (claimed) batteries for this phone? E.g.: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1-P...90-N790-N790S-U805-U232-U230/32338796619.html
Update:
So, either the battery is dying, or something is wrong with the phone: just went to my veranda to take some pics and, in less than 2 minutes, it went from 100% to shutting down (again, shuts down as soon as ultra mode pops up); plugged it to usb, and it showed 83% battery; pulled the usb cable and it status icon was at 80%. Went to try it again, managed to take 2 more pics and it shut down again; went back to the pc and the status icon was empty; plugged to usb, and it was at 73%...

Sorry for the late reply.
Plugin your phone to the computer, open a Command window, navigate to the folder you have adb extracted and type:
adb reboot recovery.
See if you can clear the cache partition.
If you have questions about which option you should choose ask first before selecting!

You said in a previous post that if you don't use any camera apps that the phone works perfectly right?
