First of all sorry for opening a new thread.....did search but didn´t find anything.....and I usually get annoyed myself by people asking question that have already been answered....
Problem: once in a while - and in no understandable pattern - my HD does not switch to standby after the set timeout (60s for me). Soft-reset does not solve the issue, but it disappears after a while (several times turning the display on/off). Have not changed/installed anything recently. First blamed it on S2U2.....uninstalled and problem seemed to be solved, but only until today - now it´s back in all its glory....
Already compared the - what I think - relevant registry values to my Diamond registry....no suspects there.
And no, there is no video-, audio-, or navigation program running in the background, as the problem manifests itself right after a restart/soft-reset....
Any ideas?
Thanks!!
mine does the same...I've just gotten used to it.

Hmmm....I don´t want to get used to it, because whenever the device wakes up (missed call, reminder, alert etc.) the display stays on (altough dimmed) using up battery power....
Same problem here with my Diamond.
Any news or ideas on this?
Same for me, and it's a very big problem!
I've read in some of the other posts that it may have to do with the activation of auto-screen lock that is included in the ROM, but this isn't turnd on in my case!
I use my Blackstone professionally, which means I need as much battery power as possible on one charge! At the moment this problem makes the device last for about half a day during work!
If anyone has a fix, I would appreciate hearing about it
I almost got my phone stolen(some friend my friend is)and was wondering if there was a way to track my phone if it gets stolen. I paid $400 for my g1 and I don't want it stolen.
I know there are a number of different programs that can track the phones location and others can log online to a website and look at your current location. However, The GPS will need to be on and the program would need to be running. There are a few different programs, I tested out FirePin, it worked nice, but had no need for it and the online account was free.
I'd suggest PinTail from the market. You set up a pin code on the G1. When you want to locate it, you send a text message saying "locate <pin code>". The G1 gets your GPS location and texts back the coordinates and even a map link.
Just downloaded this app and its pretty cool and works very well... just have to make sure the other half doesn't get hold of the pin code! hehe

Also i Suggest adding That annoying LOCK screen to it... it saves wonders... Now if they only made a program you could set the default lock timeout.
not that this is a Pintail thread but I see how this could be useful but not great. If whoever has your phone has access to its menu they can change the pin which makes the application useless once your phone is gone.
just my 2 cents. If there was a way to lock out changing the pin, that would be useful, but on the same note it uninstalling this app should also require some sort of pw/pin
Could be pretty useful too if you loose the phone (Not actually theft)... Eg, I once left my mobile out at college and didn't realise... Sure it may not be accurate enough to know the exact room but it'd have stopped me spending so long searching around the house!
gps tracker on the andriod market works great and is the best
agrees gps tracker worked nice for me ... however there is no way to trigger the gps and initialize the tracking. i have my POWER MANAGER Set that way when my phone turns on, it gets plugged in or unplugged it turns on gps and cell location.
so depending on how prone u might b to loosing ur phone this is the best i would think. unless someone was familiar with android ... otherwise this method would have plenty of time to get coordinates
Is there a way to remotely turn GPS on? Like the "Force Ring" app changes ring volume to high when the phone is texted with a pin. Would be a nice app if you could remotely turn the lock screen on and turn GPS on by way of text. Anyone know if thats possible?

if the g1 had a built in battery with the screen lock enabled this could allow the owner of the phone to have time to track the phone. as soon as that phone is off and sim is removed, its gone...

Built in battery would be a must
I want to enable a password on my device (I already have the sim pin lock turned on) so if my THD is stolen someone cant remove the old sim and still gain access to my data, (8gb is a LOT of personal data).
When i go into the settings/lock and set it to 'ask a password' when the device goes on it seems to disable the ability to use the keylock function. It asks for a password at boot, but once its on if you try to do the long press of the end key, nothing happens (no matter how long you hold the END key for). It seems to be either.. Password protect at Startup OR the abitity to lock the keys while the phone is on. Has anyone found a work around, cos id love to be able to password protect it AND have the ability to use a keylock function because its a big touch screen and i dont really want my phone to start calling at random when its in my pocket.
Someone suggested using S2U2 as a keylock, is this gonna affect any Touch HD functions (iv heard it causes battery issues) cos i dont really wanna open a can of worms by installing software if its gonna cause problems, and can i use it with TF3D, Thanks.
using happily with touchflo3d myself. didnt notice any battery issues. but I set it to autolock when it comes out of standby so i don't really "use" it much. I guess you just try it by yourself and find if it suits your needs?
you can always uninstall
"Smart Protect" would be perfect for you - I'm too tired to write down what it can do (its 4:00 AM) but it's the only software you need to feel safe. When your PDA gets stolen it even sends an SMS with GPS coordinates as well as the number of the inserted SIM card to as many numbers as you like (so you can give them to the Police and smile 'cause they will have everything they need to find the thief). It has tons of options and every single one can be set as you like. Just remember - once installed it cannot be uninstalled (ever) - manufacture restore is the only solution.

Can anyone tell me why this seems to be something nobody has done? I have now seen one person has done it and tried it on my S5 however it seems to be something that on all other phones nobody has done it and im curious to know why? is it a security thing? I would like to have a bunch of quotes, family photos show up on my lock screen every time I turn it on, the developer who has done it is here
Hi,
Just got an Android Head unit. All was working well until I installed Bit Defender. I stupidly tried the anti theft function (Which sets a "one time" pin on the device).
Problem is I now need to enter a pin every time i start the car. Its some how turned on the android lock screen and I cant see how to remove it.
Any ideas? I >think< this is the standard android lock screen rather than something bit defender specific. Uninstalling Bit defender does not remove it.
Tried contacting the seller who advised not to perform a factory reset. Looking at other posts it seems others have performed factory resets... What (Apart from normal apps etc) will i have to set up again if i do so?
Thanks very very much for any advice. This is driving me crazy.
I also had the problem once and i had to do a factory reset. But if you use titanium backup it´s not so bad.
Screen lock Allwinner QUAD CORE T3
I did the same exact thing using Find My Device, thinking that the password is not changeable but removable so the only solution to get rid of the password each time the car starts is to hard reset it?
Hello, did you manage to solve the problem?
Hi again, I also set a password and I can’t disable it, this is bothering me a lot, did any of you guys find a solution? Thank you in advance for any and all help!

How to hard reset android head unit? can any one pls help on this.
Solution for this for me is Quickshortcutmaker. When you start the app, then search for the app that's called search suggestions. And open it.
Now you can search all possible settings in android, which often are hidden and not accessible. Try secure or something like that, to access the lock settings and there you can remove it.
Thank you, I will try this today and report back. Will it require root?
No root needed
Hey sorry to bother you again. I tried it, but the app just takes me back to PIN settings on Android settings which is grayed out and not clickable. Can you tell me what I’m doing wrong? I’m a noob and not sure what the purpose of this app is to begin with. Here is a 40-second video I shot about what I did, below. Thank you for your help, I appreciate it a lot and don‘t take it for granted.

Strange, for me it is working. My PIN bar is active, when i click on it. It asks me for my PIN.
Can’t remove screen lock
Hi everyone,
I am having the same problem - I cannot remove the screen lock / pattern set up on my Android car head stereo device. I have tried all sorts - going into advanced settings and turning off the ‘screen lock service’, turning off ‘find my device’, removing my google account.
It is so frustrating having to type this in every time the car starts!
I am currently in the process of downloading QuickShortcutMaker. Will keep you updated...
I was in my car trying to solve the problem when you posted your message, and I think I solved it!!! I just cleared credentials and the PIN went away. Go here: Android settings / Security & Location / Advanced (Trust agents), I can’t see what’s next because once you remove the PIN it doesn’t show you the menu, it just says “To use, first set a screen lock”. But somewhere in there, there is “Clear credentials” which did the job! It didn’t affect anything else as best as I can tell, but it’s been only 2 minutes since I managed to do it.
Hi!
I’m currently on quickshortcutmaker and can’t find what you’ve found. Are you on this app?
Thank you so much for your help by the way! I feel like I’m close
There is “trusted credentials” on here tho
No, I didn’t use the quickshortcutmaker, I did it through the Android settings. Here’s a video of what I’ve done, your setup may differ but this is the general idea:

Maybe it's a ROM issue. I use Malaysk ROM.
Contrary to the topic starter, I found this thread because I wanted to have a lockscreen. I don't like the idea that when my headunit might get stolen the thief can view all kinds of personal information.
So I tried quickshortcutmaker and I could enable it. So far so good.
However, with the screen lock also automatically came a screen timeout which is set to about 10 seconds. So every 10 seconds the screen goes blank. This is of course totally unacceptable for a car head unit. The screen has to stay on until I turn it off.
Unfortunatly I haven't found a setting for the screen timeout. And about the screen lock: you can turn it on and choose different methods, but you can't turn it off. The option to turn it off exists, but it just doesn't work.
I had this problem yesterday and just figured out how to fix this. Deleting the Credentials and disabling through the regular settings menu does not work. Everything would just revert back, so I downloaded an app from the Play Store called Android Settings X. There you can reach the hidden settings. Choose "Choose screen lock (SetupChooseLockGeneric)" to remove the Screen Lock. If that option doesn't work there is another one, 2 options down, called "Settings (ScreenLockSuggestion)". Remove the Lock Screen here. Bam, fixed! This is the only way I know of that actually removes the Lock Screen and will not revert back.

You might try Android Settings X as mentioned in my reply to the thread. Even though you have the opposite issue, i.e. wanting the lock screen, I'm pretty sure I saw a screen timeout option in this app, and since normal methods did not work to remove but using this app did, you might try it out.
