HKEY? - HD2 General

Yo. I have a problem with my registreyeditors I have tried. They are just showing HKEY and not the HKLM and the other one. What am Ia doing wrong? I have tried Resco, Sktools, PHM, Totalcommander. What to do?

HKLM is shorthand for HKEY_ LOCAL_MACHINE. You can probably figure out the rest now...

Thank you very much I hade not figured out that myself...:s

registry editor?

Just a quick question: The Wiki has a number of tweaks for the registry. How do I edit the Registry on an 8125? Is there a Registry Editor on the PDA, or do I have to download one? Where can I get one?

if you plan on tweaking your phone at all, you should probably get one.No there isn't one on your device. I use total commander. It was part of the custom 2.26 rom I upgraded to. I have found it to be very useful. hope this helps
tutorial for Total Commander?
Does anyone know of a tutorial for using Total Commander? There are some things I want to do with it, but I don't know anything about this stuff.
Thanks

I've posted quite a lot tips on using Total Commander in the Registry Bible.
It's indeed a bit harder to use than alternate products. (I think you may also want to check out Resco Registry Editor because it's much easier to use.)
also if it is just registry editing PHM Regedit is pretty good.
Yup, PHM is great, but a bit restricted and, as far as multi-line strings are concerned, buggy.

need help with registry tweak...

hi,
i just got myself a TyTN, before that i had qtek 9100 and i use to use this tweak:
By just adding following keys to the registry will get you a nice 'wireless' today item that show Network name/status,
WiFi name/status as well as Bluetooth status. Confirmed to work on AKU2 ROMs
[HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today\Items\"Wireless"]
"DLL"="netui.dll"
"Order"=dword:00000000
"Enabled"=dword:00000001
"Type"=dword:00000004
now i tried it on my TyTN and it doesnt work...each time after making the changes to the reg. when i softreset the .dll file gets missing in the reg. ? i dont understand why it shouldnt work as both the devices use wm5 ? could some please help me with this?
thanks,

Try taking off the quotes on netui.dll and adding the windows directory in front \windows\netui.dll
String value Name=DLL
String Value Data=\windows\netui.dll
Seems to work for me
I also have dword key for FLags and OPtions, but they are set to 0
I've done this on my TyTN and it works fine. I think the key is to actually close the registry editor program (not just hit the X to minimize it) before the soft reset to ensure that all of the changes are saved to the registry.
hope this helps.
hi thnx for the prompt replies, but none of that helped...from the start i never used the quotes, im using PHM Registry Editor, and when i click on "ok" it asks me to save changes or not so im sure the changes are saved i have even verified it again by opening the prog. but when i softreset the dll key just disappears...i tried adding /window/ in front of netui.dll also...btw im using 1.18.255.3 english rom...
EDIT:
ok so after playing arround a little i have come to the conclusion that the reason why the dll key is not working is coz the .dll does not exist? i have looked a little into /windows/ folder and i see a file named "netmui.dll.0409.mui" but nothing like "netui.dll"...i even did a search nothing comes up...so someone could see and tell where must this dll file is located i could verify if it really there or not...
Thanks,

Merging registry?

I have PHM reg editor installed, but all I can do with it is restore a registry. What I want to do is merge a registry so the registry setting that are missing(not really sure which ones are) are added back and such. How can I do this? Thanks
anyone know? Please?
I'd try something like dotfred task manager for this...
http://www.dotfred.net/TaskMgr.htm
You can export that registry setting using PHM reg editor, copy to your pc and merge it into any.reg.

I think (although I'm not absolutely certain) that the op wants to import some registry settings, which (AFAIK) cannot be done easily with PHM RegEdit
Yes, I want to import reg settings(with out deleting the current ones on there) and PHM does not let me.

dotfred task manager has a registry import function. I'd backup before just to be safe though!
I tried it but it gave me an error and the missing registry files were not actually imported.
What are you trying to install, what registry settings?
If I knew what exact reg setting it was, I would have done it manually. I am trying to get back my predictive texting I lost after installing and uninstalling the Diamond keyboard. So I did a back of my device, did hard reset, then used PHM reg to save the whole default registry. I proceed installed the back up of my registy and then tried to merge the registry with the software mentioned and here we are now.
You need to find out which parts of the registries you want to merge. There simply isn't any piece of software with the intelligence to do that for you.
If you have both your default registry and your own custom registry in .reg format, put them on your PC and use UltraEdit or any similar editor with compare/diff functionality to spot the differences. Judge for yourself which of these are the ones you need. Put only these lines in a new .reg file with the correct header. Copy that to your device, run it, ready for test.
I believe all devices here use unicode, so don't use a .txt based editor.
well I think it maybe the whole hkey local machine I may have to merge or at least everything that does not have to do with installed apps and software.

Use by example the freeware program PHM, that you can find here.

To edit the registry, you can install on your phone one of the following (I'm sure there are other options, but these are three I know):
Total Commander (free)
Resco Explorer (7-day trial, costs $29.95USD)
PHM Registry Editor (free, but site seems to be offline)
Personally I'm happy with Total Commander, which will also let you delete/change locked files, create shortcuts, etc. The only negative is poor optimization for finger touch, so be careful when you use it. No fat fingers!
In Total Commander, navigate to "\\\" (three slashes) to get to the registry. FYI you may need to restart for certain registry changes to take effect.

HTC HD 2 Registry

Anybody know how to access HTC HD2 registry?
I'm quite confused abt getting it done.
Use a registry editor and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Loader\LoadModuleLow
create new DWORD entry named ffmpeg.plg
assign to it value 1.
I dun quite understand how u do e registry editor on e phone? I can't seem to find.
You need a registry editor like e.g. Total Commander. I myself use Mobile Registry Editor, which you can use from your PC.
http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/Desktop-and-Shell/Windows/Mobile-Registry-Editor-10636.shtml
So that means after downloading the mobile registry editor I juz need to plug in my phone and make the necessary changes as in the instruction given?
Yep. Download it and you'll see how it works. It's pretty easy.
But always be careful when editing the registry, I'd suggest you write down the original values.

Thanks Bro. Appreciate your help.
I juz tried and it say access denied
You could try again. I get this error from time to time, but the next time I tried it did work.
Otherwise you could try Total Commander or RegEdit or any of the other registry editors that are available. They work from your phone. Don't know exactly which ones are free. Search this forum and Google and you will find.

Does it show all the directory or it will only show certain directory only?
Cause i'm not able to find HKLM\Software\Opera\Info
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/phmregistryeditor.shtml
The one I use and I have never had any problems with it. Plus, you don`t need a PC in order to use it.
Is there a more friendly Finger registry editor than PHM Registry Editor v0.70
