I'm sure this was started with all the best intentions however,
Do we really need another thread to point out that this guy is better than that guy, and how one dev's work is better than another one's, or I like him better because. I mean really there's a lot of people here devoting a lot, if not most of their free time sitting at PC pumping out stuff out for free for everyone here to enjoy, and to lift one person up and proclaim them the best, you have to step on all the other's.
I say just enjoy all the free goodies that come out of this community and leave it at that, but hey that's just one guys opinion.

I can see that point of view, its a valid one. but it would be nice if this was taken in the light hearted nature it was intended, for the community's sake.

I always get shafted in these polls and comps around here lol....

This is just for fun guys no hard feelings on anyone or anything, if you don't want to get involved please don't post. I rather votes in here then a post.

Done that looks awesome
Done, really nice game
Done, thanks for the heads up!
WinMo sure needs more quality games. Especially with (W)VGA and touch support..

I voted... it looks like we're currently tied with DS with 29 votes. The next closest is Linux with 21 and WiiWare with 19.
Man I hope they port it to WinMo...
Killer game - I've got it for PC and it's a blast. (voted for a WinMo port)
I just voted, looks like we're winning! I really hope this happens. The last Crayon Physics game, made by the awesome cthulu in the general section, doesn't seem to work on a lot of devices.

The Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 is the manufacturer's first Android phone. It is rather high-end, equipped with a 1GHz Snapdagon processor, 4-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 480x854 pixels and an 8.1-megapixel camera with autofocus. However, its software features are just as impressing. What it adds to the Android universe is a personalized interface, called UX (from User eXperience). Basically, UX combines various entertainment and social media features.

so this is more like a multimedia phone eh?
no thanks!
based on the history of the X1 bug list ... this X10 will never get fixed
The X1 was slow at the 1st demo, they said they will fix it .. never happened ..
now, look at the video here:
http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/02/sony-ericsson-xperia-x10-announced-we-go-hands-on/
Very slow ... and based on track record ... not going to get fix, not in firmware 1, neither in 2, neither in R3A ...
Yeah .. this 'we must have our own shell, even if it sucks' approach bothers me.
personally .. I HATE IT for 3 reasons
1. IT'S HUGE!
---- i can't feel the portability anymore
2. ANDROID
---- I'm a Windows developer.
3. NO KEYPAD
---- I hate onscreen keyboard.. sorry
Dude than you HATE almost every phone in the world ! Cool

1. It's ok for me however I just love the X1/X2 size!
2. and 3. agreed.
I'm not impressed by Android.
Actually, If I'd be ever tempted to change OS, I would just go Mac....
DrSid
What do you mean
You believe in Android dominance?
As for some other thread you asked me: I rather tie myself with Microsoft
OS and Use Google anyway since they control their search machine,
than rely so much on Google only...
Of all the new OSes the most I like is WebOs by Palm, but have no idea
how this works.
I definitely choose WM which still gives the biggest abilities...
It's also funny to see on some forums how people get excited
about the Facebook and Twitter integration...
It's like I said - it's all about feel and "lifestyle" in the end, not features.
next dissapointment

I can even extend this list:
4. No possibility to scroll through big pages quickly (like with optical button)
5. Ugly UI (too small icons, also seems to be very dull)
6. Laggy even in the browser, which is said to be snappy (loading the engadget site takes as long as with my X1)
7. Same battery like X1 BUT 1GHz cpu AND larger screen (battery drain!!!)
8. Is the phone still usable if I don't use Facebook and Twitter (or is just everything blank) ??
Comment: why didn't they simply put the snapdragon in the X2?

Nah .. it just seemed funny to me that someone hates phone which he does not have and which was just recently been officially introduced. If he said 'I don't like it' it would be perfectly fine with me. Never mind ..
As for Android dominance .. interesting question. Actually yes. Not in year or two. But WM is going to phase out. Apple is too closed. Web OS seems to be developing too slow at the moment. Actually I would like to see Web OS in this role as long time Palm OS user and developer, but Android for sure has bright future ahead.
As for X10, I like the form (no keyboard, large screen), it's just what I'd like to try, but it is no matter of life and death for me, so please don't flame. X1 keyboard is too clumsy and I don't use it that much, and the screen is small for me as my last PDA was Palm T5 with 3.9 inches. Also I don't like WM, since my last PDA was Palm OS. I kind of got used to WM, and I almost stared to like it as I started to develop applications for it (nothing public so far), as the process is really smooth (though not free).
What I don't like is that SE shell. I generally hate animation in UI. I could live with it if they were really snappy (like iPhone has for example). But if they take time, and are even jerky, now that plainly sucks. It's not good for effect, nor for usability, it's just stupid.
Eh .. sorry for long post. Peace !

did I say "everything" ? thought I gave 3 reasons why I hate it and that doesn't mean I hate the phone entirely.
I will deffinitely check this device out, but I will stick to WinMo for the moment. Maybe if I get a chance to buy it cheaply and use it as a second device....

Im just going to come back and throw a few things back since this is also a WinMo forum..
4. I have NEVER used the optical pad on my X1 to scroll through pages. Its a touchscreen, you just flick..
5. Ugly UI.. Sorry, but are you forgetting about WinMo here? Yes WinMo can run Sense or SPB, but this is Android. Its Open Source and there are a variety of "skins" out there
6. Do you even have the X10? Didn't think so, so you can't comment here. The Engadet video is also running a pre-build of the software so its buggy.
7. Most phones dont last that long anyway. Your supposed to charge them every night anyway
8. Fair point as not everyone uses social networking. Im going to say that you can just enter various details yourself

That is your personal preference. For example, I use it all the time: to scroll through menus, web pages and most notably - e-books.
It is amazingly functional.
While it's somewhat useful, I agree, it cannot even come close to a wheel, let alone it is very small and highly inaccurate, unfortunately.
The user manual which can now be downloaded shows that unused tabs in timescape can be unchecked (removed) leaving whatever the remainder is as the timescape flow.

that is excellent news. i personally have only got facebook and myspace. i don't use twitter that much.. and can really only see myself using timescape to update facebook and myspace.. sms and email i can use the regular apps for that.. i.e. i doubt my device will be slowed down by timescape ...

LG eXpo (1GHz, QWERTY, & Projector!!!)

I'm thinking what could replace my trusty X1. After a bit of surfing it was down to the Samsung Omnia Pro B7610 with it's AMOLED screen and 900mhz.
But I've now found this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWlhOYGXAuw
I could do with a bit more ram (only has 256/512 rom).
But I like the add on projector. Ideal for keeping in your laptop bag and plugging on to the phone when you want to.
What do you guys think?

I like the phone, without the projector. With LG, I won't have to pay HTC tax, which seems ludicrious, with HTC Diamond (1)'s costing more than an X1.
I think its kinda cool, but in all reality the only thing cool about this phone is the projector.
How would that projector actually work? By using native app or projecting device screen (clone mode) ?

I'd guess its clone mode, so you could use it for presentations etc.
I would imagine that the LG build quality means that the keyboard works without the iiiiiii oooooooo etc, and it doesn't crack down the sides if you look at it
I would rather have a better camera than the fingerprint reader (had one on a M900, sold it within a week) but all in all it ticks the right boxes for me.

Rans,
The only issue is firmware... LG sucks at software - I used an LG Arena, it was slow and clunky.
Hopefully there'd be chefs willing to cook for it.

Should'nt be a problem since its a WM 6.5 Device.
LG only had Problems with there on lousy software.
I think LG will not install any "addons" that will make that phone really crapy.
With Windows Phone they have a good base at least.
Btw. i'm missing infos about a G-Sensor.
If there is one, it would really be an alternative to the X2
Yes it does have orentation sensor

I just picked up a Telus LG IQ (this is the Canadian version of the eXpo) and it does change orientation based on how you hold it..in some apps...for instance Internet explorer will change to landscape if you turn the phone on its side.
YES please chefs!

I just picked up the Canadian version and am VERY looking forward to a cooked ROM or two....
XDA doesn't support non-HTC phones, so don't count on any ROMS here.
Not so there are lg incite roms here

Although you brought that with a lot of fervor, I don't see any evidence.
I wouldn't be too surprised if a few ROMs for other WM phones are around the forums - people from other sites come and share here too.
Fact remains, there won't be an LG eXpo section on XDA, as it's not an HTC manufactured phone, unless the XDA administrator changes the rules.
You know I'm right and I know I'm right - lets just stop messing about.
It's a pity this site is so linked to HTC and not windows mobile phones in general. The ability to run Microsoft products on various hardware manufacturers equipment gave it the advantage in the popularity stakes. If they had stuck with a single manufacturer like IBM I'd be typing this (and you would probably be viewing this) on a mac.
The original XDA was a ground breaking piece of kit, and it sporned this site, but there's some great WM phones out there and I'm sure that some of the software they have could be ported to HTC's devices.
Maybe it's time for the mods to open up this site to all WM devices and take the site to the next level, rather than a blinkered approach to a single hardware manufacturer.
Whats your opinion Mods?
Rans,
I don't think you'll reach a lot of mods by posting in this topic - for that you should go to the general XDA forums, or maybe ideas and suggestions.
However, without ever having browsed those forum sections, I can tell you that this must've been suggested thousands of times already.
I think one of the main problems is the scope. Earlier on, HTC was the main WM phone manufacturer. Now there's so many companies out there doing the same..
Even HTC has way too many WM phones already (try looking for one in the main forum, it's a huge list). If we'd add all other WM phones, the forum would get a mile long.

I think its kinda cool, but in all reality the only thing cool about this phone is the projector.

Ast' is right. There are LG Incite ROMs. Search under Xcite.
I am so excited for the expo. i think that is what i will be sticking with for a few months maybe years. plus i hate paying the htc tax.

I agree that it seems pretty sweet. Not flashy, but great speed and features - like what we all wish the x1 could have been. I hope the camera and video recording are good. I wish they'd sell an add-on xenon flash in addition to that projector.

Sorry to be the guy that challenges what other people say but there is a dedicated sony ericcson X1 section, so I am assuming that other devices are eligible. I think its a litttle important to mention that unlike the rest of the world, this is the first US phone to drop with a QSD, I am thinking of getting one myself, but will wait to see if ROMs are getting cooked as a stock device will not do.
True, but HTC made X1.

bought a new phone? say you good bye to our lovely play here

hi all
i made this thread for every one that is leaving his xperia play
if you can please add a little story of your play here and what you did with it and ... here(you can add any story from when you bought the play till when you leaved it)
i know its late and many of us leaved play months ago but if you see this post and you are one of old users please send your story too
i will say my goodbye to xperia play here too but for now i have to deal with this phone until i finish my exams and get my grades
I left around a month ago to a nexus 5. It was just getting too old. I still love the play community and always will. So many great devs supported this device, and they did the impossible.
Sent from my GN5 [D821] using XDA Premium
Yeah I've also bought a Nexus 5 but i won't sell my Xperia Play because it's such a unique phone. It's running JB 4.1 atm and is my alarm clock . I try to not leave the Xperia Play community completely and I hope that we'll get some progress with the 3.4 kernel soon.
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 5 mit Tapatalk
I have gone through 3-4 phones and still have my play. So no reason to sell it just because I bought another phone.
as you guys may know i leaved xperia play section about 5 minutes ago
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49452014&postcount=75
i bought my xperia play about 2 years ago (for my good grades in school and ... )
for about a year the phone was with locked bootlader (i didn't know what bootloader or even root is )
the first time i tried to root the device with ginger break and i get angry because it was not working. i was scared too (i wanted to install ics rom on my play )
after too many google searches i finally rooted my device and installed darkforest rom on it(yes, without unlocking bootlader and flashing any kenrel )
for two days i had a break phone and i thought that i losed my phone but i finally found out how to fix it
and ...
this was a little story of my xperia play
Im going to buy XIAOMI M3…

i bought xperia play instead of galaxy s2 now im very sad becase s2 has a 3.12 kernel
Got a Nexus 5 and sold my XP, If the 3.x Kernel was stable and working for the XP then I wouldent have left,
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
i accidentally dropped some medical alcohol on my play's screen and after two weeks i sold it with the highest price demanded (40$)
oh yeah and it became hotter than fire and i got xperia u because i am a student without an income ;p
Ive bought a new phone a while ago (xperia z) but I will never sold or leave my play i just love it for some reason , some people offered me more than 140 euro and i didnt sell it...
I got a sgs3 and i am very happy with it i rooted it and put a Kit Kat rom on it
I bought my play actually at September 2012 it was a awesome phone then i played minecraft 0.3.0 and i was so happy with this phone i still have it and i will keep it because its a amazing phone and i want a kit kat rom on it
Moved onto a Nexus 5. Still have my play. I don't have the heart to sell it. But between my N5 and Moga Hero. I find myself using my play less and less. Then again my nephew is using it for a month in London.

I have moved on to Xiaomi Hongmi 3g (beware of fake hongmi's for sale the shop i linked sells genuine Xiaomi phones) It has native miui v5 and decent specs for ~150 euro it's a nice phone, I still have my play but touch screen is getting worse and volume buttons fell off. I will miss using my play on a daily basis was a great phone not having a 2.6+ kernal really held it back, hope a 3.4 kernal comes for it soon. I used gin2jellybean rom with nova launcher and miui 5 theme great times and will miss this forum and all the great devs that kept my device enjoyable long after sony left the scene.

You Know it shocks my Damn Mind. That Companies don't want to get more rich.. An Xperia play 2 with real analog sticks, or any companies device for that matter would sell Hugely. The Nvidia shield is the only device, but its not a phone, nor is it usable like a regular tablet.
A new Xperia play cant steal sales from The ps vita, the ps vita is a standalone device with Unreal Graphics and Remot play options with Ps3/4.
Just wish some company would make a New one. A Nexus 5 with a Ps vita style body with Real Accurate Analog sticks would be a dream...
I'll move onto a Moto X very soon but I will keep my XP as a 2nd device (casual gaming) and waiting if nickholtus have the magic to get a fully functional 3.4 kernel (hopefully because this phone and his community deserve it) :fingers-crossed:
All hail the xperia play!
and what about the opposite : i had a S3 but needing money and having only a UMI X1 (which even by being dual core is on the level of a Play) i brought a cheap Xperia Play used (but still in awesome shape) ... oh well i have seen some PPSSPP vids and i think it might just suits my need till im back into "high ends"
so this is not good bye ... but a warm welcome...
ok im off topic sorrrrryyy
Moved to galaxy s4
Need repair my play screen broke

I'm going to repair it love my play to much
