I had a Tmobile start screen under the boot numbers without changing BL version to linked here (I had an a v1.00 BL). Now when it starts there are something like random pixels splash screen that looks ugly . Is this a new BL specific tread or flashing went bad and it's damaged or something?

OK here is the procedure....
1> unpack the rar file..
2> install the 3 cabs provided... don't install if it says the old version will be removed. (it is likely to happen with HTC_Certs.cab)
3> choose a image that you want to put as boot screen.... it has to be a bmp format with 640X480 or 480X640 resolution and copy it to that extracted folder...
4> run rsbbmp.exe and addfile select the file and click convert all... then you should have a .rsb format file with same name... rename it to logo.rsb...
5> run write_logo.bat and it should write the boot screen in your device...
Hope it clears all your doubts...
Cheers
Rajiv

copy lourd.pit to My Documents/Templates...
thanks lourd,
...give me more nice templates...!!!
I installed as said, but it still doesn't work !
Do I need to soft reset ?
Put it in MyDocuments\Templates
Thanks for your help
Micman, u wan to install the pit tool v2 or lourd.pit template.. if install u just need to run the pit tool.exe file cos it's pc application .. no need to install ..for the lourd.pit.. u juz need to copy n paste the file in the \my documents\templates.. that's it
K call be stupid but..... I cant install this thing.
I copied the .pit file to the /my documents/template and nothing. Do I have to rename the file, OR specify it in a program. I tred resetting and still nothing
Same for me !
go to Caller ID/Photo Contact application ....Tap & Hold... your one of contact ...tap Assign Photo ...in Display Setting.. choose template : lourd
test with Preview ...
HTH
I am sorry but I must be really stupid, even though i pretend to know this JAM pretty good.
But if you do that , you can only choose between a JPEG, BMP or GIF File an not a pit file. As well as if you change that , the only thing that happens is that it changes the internal view of the PIT an not the PIT.
Anyone else has an idea ?
Sorry for bothering.
Dont worry, had the same problem myself.
The trick is - you have to assign a photo first, then the rest of the options come up including the template which you can change to lourd. The same applies to the default pictures, choose any jpeg, and all the options will come up. Really badly designed app is Phot Contacts.
Got it,
Thanks for taking the time to explain dude
OK, works now for 1 contact.
Do I have to do that with every contact ???
Thanks for your help man
Hi to all,

You have to name it welcomehead.96.jpg and it must have the size of your screen to fill it. And yes it goes in windows. There is also a small mort script named random splash screen which launches splashscreens from a defined folder randomly on every start up... very nice

That's the actual ROM file, not the splash image.

Here's mine
This may be posted elsewhere...if so, sorry. I replaced the 2 qmg files in /system/media with the attached files. The attached files are the stock i9000 boot animations. I got them from a captivate thread.
So far they seem to work fine, but you should make a backup just in case.

Guess you have to be rooted, right?
rooted here, not working
What is the best way to copy files over? Could you give more of a noob tutorial on how to do this lol
works great! no more stupid pink crap! I a sooo excited!
The way I did it is as follows. I used root manager to copy the original qmg files to a safe place. I then mounted the phone to my computer copied the new qmgs to the sd card unmounted and used root manager again to put them in the correct place (system/media).
make sure that you extract the two files from the zip. other than that, I did it just like the above posts.
Works perfectly Thanks!!! Any idea where the sound file is? I'd like to replace that with something less "happy"

this is covered in the sticky and here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731059
For some reason I am not able to copy the files with root explorer. Do I need to move the files with terminal? I've copied/move them over..but they do not appear. I have root access btw.
Working on a rooted Vibrant here. Ended up using Root Explorer to get it to work.
Now, is there a way to get rid of the pink shutdown animation?

Go into /system/media and remove bootsamsung.qmg and bootsamsungloop.qmg ... or replace them with the i9000 files from the ZIP in the post that started this thread.
Thank you!
I copied the files over with root explorer, and everything works fine, except for when the new animation plays, it's very choppy/pixelated. Anyone else?

Taken from a gnex thread:

To make boot animation to work with sound file you need right bootsound bin files, you must edit init.rc and also init.local.rc + build.prop
Unfortunately that thing works only with Gingerbread and older devices, I've tried to get it working on ICS and JB but no luck.

3. leave the "bootanimation.zip" file zipped, put in your sdk/tools folder

you can use this test zip I made to flash the bootanimation(unzip it, place the bootanimation inside system/media/ and then rezip)
you can use bootanimation factory to add the loops to the bootanimation, the rest is up to you

Thanks a lot, any idea how to wrote the .txt file? Like what I'd need I understand the part 0,1,etc. And the resolution I just don't know what else or exactly how to write. Or would it be easier to use the factory?

I I know that part 0 is the folder, 1 is usually the loops for the folder and the other number I don't remember; the resolution of the pictures is at the top, and next to it is usually the fps but I prefer to use the factory because this way it never fails
