Help!!! My Friend Deleted my data connection!!!!!

well i lent my friend my mda while i was in class and i guess he was trying to get onto the internet, he accidentally deleted the data connection. when he meant to tap connect.
How do i get it back? all help is appreciated

Just call your phone provider and they will talk you through adding it again.

What provider? Cingular or T-Mobile?

im with t-mobile i really want this connection back. im paying for the total internet package and cant use it.
i would call but the account is not under my name. so when i call i dont really remember the personal info such as ss# etc.

Hopefully your account is legal as it doesn't sound normal that you would have a paying account, but no access to customer service (as you have to know who's name it is under i would presume).

oh. nahh im using a good phone, its not a hot phone, its jus that my mother put it under her name for me but me and her had a major argument AFTER the connection was deleted and i didnt really wanna ask her anything.

Well don't be so quick to assume. T-Mobile will ask for ssn or security question. You can't do anything even if you have the contractor's name. But support will give the link without needing any of that.

I was assuming simply because it would seem strange to me that he would have an active phone and not know the person's information who's it is under. If he did i would assume calling them up and saying "Hey i need you to be on the line while i call T-Mobile" wouldn't be unrealistic. His reason is one i can understand, but that wasn't given prior to my response and was why i reasoned that way.

First of all, this is my first post and I would like to excuse my bad english ^^
Okey, so here's my situation. I bought a phone over the Internet from a private seller who claimed she did'nt know wether the phone was SIM-locked or not. She also claimed that she had used two sorts of SIM cards, with two different operators.
So, I tried with my card. It says (i have in Swedish, so i'll translate as good as I can) "No service". So I went in to Settings -> Network and at the top it says "Current Network: No Service" . I have tried everything in those menues, like choose network manually and such. Everything comes down to the same, No service at the little icon at the top screen.
So, I runned the Unlock-service that I found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293957. I did it step by step and it worked perfectly, except one thing; my problem stands.
So what should I do? Have i missed something? If the phone shows to be stolen, I think it's weird that I even got into the phone. I can use Wi-Fi and such, that works properly. Activesync, no problem at all.
What should I do?! Please, please help me!

Call the police.
Find out from a phone company if the IMEI is blocked.
Not a lot you can do but Call the authorities and get them to deal with it.

If the phone is reported stolen it wont stop the phone working as a PDA, it will just block it's usage as a phone.
Ebay has a link to check stolen phon (before you buy) - http://www.checkmend.com/uk/ - You need the IEMI number use *#06# to get it. The service isnt free, but is recommended by the Met Office.

eventually this helps you:
i've had a trinity in "active service" for about one year,
and i've noticed the following:
everytime i used a sim card which i had never used before
in the trinity, it tooks minutes to get the "no service" away.
after the fist initialisation of the new sim, every further
turning on the device (till i get a service) was much
faster.
so let the phone at least 10min with your sim, if you
would still no service, then you should check your imei.
and: sometimes you have to click on the "services" tab
in the title bar to get to the pin verification. for some
reason sometimes that did'nt come automatically frontwards
for me...

i would check via the ebay link, if that comes up ok just reflash the phone with an radio and see if that works. If the imei is ok and the flash with the radio doesn't fix it then you might have a hardware issue.

Problem solved! I tried with yet another operator, and it worked! So the problem is locked. I'm going to the store tomorrow to lock it up. Hopefully that will do the trick. Thank's guys!

Ok got this phone but it wont ring or recive calls ! .
After putting in my SIM card, entering my PIN code it still says no service. When you try and make a call it says "Not registered on network".
It was on T Mobile which I have had it unlocked via eBay. I got past the Google registration page by entering APN settings for my SIM card (O2).
Now I can user the browser and market etc but no calls.
I have done everything in THIS thread and think I have flashed it with
JFv1.43 RC9. (When I say think it seemed to flash but I cant see any difference so not sure if it worked).
Does anyone know how I can get the phone to work?

i have been in this same situation for about 3 weeks and after spending countless hours on phone and at store with tmobile 3 replacement phone 5 sim cards and a new number they close my account and reopened it this was just tonight so i am testing it out so far i have lost servie twice within 3 hours restarted my phone both times and regained service so im not sure if it is completely fixd just yet

Its really annoying such a simple thing. When I try to manually select teh operator in settings it says "Your SIM dosnt allow connections to this network".
I tried an orange SIM card and for some reason it puts the phone in airoplane mode and wont come out :s
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Anyone got any ideas on what could be causing this ?

man I'm telling you that's been happening to me. except I upgrade to ION and then reverted back to haykuro's 6.0r1. everythig that;s happened to this guy has been affecting me

I also have a problem with my G1. Bought it from my local polish netwerk (Era) and the phone works OK however, from time to time it looses the connection to network and it needs a reset in order to login to network again. Don't remember if it happened before they released the software which supported polish language. So what do you recon is it a hardware problem or did those useless local IT guys screwed sth up while translating android??

hey guys not sure if this helps but if your device is rooted did you try un rooting it? maybe get it back to stock firmware...? or do you think its your sim card?

hi im from chicago and im having the same issue i put my sim in it say not registered on network then after i search 4 network it say sim card not alow on connection i sent my phone 2 samsung repair n they see nothing wrong..been like this since day one its very annoying

what do you mena rooting it?
I just bought a fido sim card and I get the msg: "cannot register on this network. choose another network, or disconnect your data connection and try again" when i try to manually connect to the network. I have using this phone with at least two sim cards back in my outcry and i bought it independently from my previous network from an eshop in Ireland..
Any thoughts? Could be the ROM and radio installed?

I've recently bought an HTC Legend from Virgin mobile, unlocked it, and now trying to get it to work on Rogers. After I unlocked it, I tested the phone by placing a call. It worked.
Then I got excited and decided to root it and load a custom ROM. I did not read the comments about the ROM and it turns out, the ROM changed my radio. When I go Network Operators on the phone it now says, "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network".
The ROM I used was Rodriguezstyle MoDaCoMoDrOm V2.3
I thought I lucked out and found the Bell RUU from Shipped ROMs but that didn't help at all.
I got too excited when I first received the phone and didn't take down the radio info before I starting messing about, which was stupid on my part.
I am freaking out a little and not sure what else to do. I had asked a friend to bring this phone over from Calgary, AB for me because they don't sell them in Winnipeg, MB where I live so bringing it back to the retail outlet is going to be pretty difficult.
Please, please, please help me. I apologize in advance if I am posting in the wrong spot.

Or you can do it the hard way. Just flash all the radio that was released. Try one by one and you might hit the spot. Try 7.08.35.21.

Haha! I wish I could. The retail outlet where the phone was purchased is in another province and is about a day's drive. They don't sell the device in the city I live in.
...although I could give it a shot here and ask them to ship one over? I'll save that as a last resort

I think I might have to try this method. Do you know if there is a repository of all the radio released for the Legend?

I've flashed the radio suggested, 7.08.35.21, still nothing. I was reading in another thread that it could be my SIM card? Strange how I was able to place a call when the phone was first unlocked. ...but it IS about 3 years old.
I'm not sure what else to do. I just may have to plead with the retail stores here. Hopefully they can ship me a new one

Whoops! I meant the SIM card. Sorry about the mix up.

I just got off the phone with Rogers Tech Support to see if there was anything wrong with my SIM. He said that the symptoms I am having seemed similar to that of a locked device ("Error while searching for networks" and "Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network" when in Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile network > Network Operators).
He mentioned that by flashing a new ROM, that could have re-locked the device. Sounds strange to me but if this is true, how do I find out which carrier the device is now locked to? I am now running the rooted ROM found at the root tutorial TheUnlockr.com.
The phone is not prompting me with an unlock code input like it did the first time around. Is there a way to bring up that prompt again?

A few updates:
- tried flashing different ROMs
- tried toggling radio and autosync
- tried flashing a new radio
- tried using stock Bell Mobility RUU
- contacted Rogers and got them to reset me on the network
Still nothing, not even voice. I've been obsessing over this and it's driving me a little nuts.
rajasyaitan has suggested flashing all the radios that were released until I hit something that worked. Is there a repository out there?
I don't know why, but it never occurred to me to ask for the stock Virgin Mobile Canada RUU until now. Does anyone have it lying around somewhere or knows where I can get my hands on it? I can't find it online anywhere. If not, is there a way to pull it from a phone that is running the stock ROM? I'm not sure if it is the same as the Bell Mobility one but I thought I should start from the very beginning.

Please my phone is having the same exact problem, it's not working! I'm with Virgin Mobile Canada and I cannot connect to my carrier telling me my SIM card is not allowing me to connect to them! Please someone help! I used this Rom called Stock Froyo ROM for the HTC Legend with Online Kitchen from Modaco.
And when I loaded it, it wouldn't let me access my settings and then I loaded my backed up Rom, and now I can't connect to my Mobile Carrier. (Virgin Mobile Canada) what should I do?

Just a thought here, but is it possible that the phone is SIM locked again? When you unlocked it, did you have to flash another radio FW? Did you try "unlocking" it again?

Actually my phone is connected now, I had the same problem, I did something with the recovery before the problem was magically fixed, I went into recovery, and went down to "Backup/Restore" and I went to "Restore Google something sys..." (Restore NOT backup) and when it was done, my phone was working again, but I was on a different Rom other then the one that caused the trouble. That's what I did and it might have worked because of that I really don't know. And my phone is on "GSM/WCDMA auto", and it's connecting just fine.

i have a uk model s8 on the o2 network which was originally locked to o2.
so i took it the local market to get it unlocked which the market trader did and it accepted another uk sim
but wont connect to any network now. states emergency calls only, even with my original o2 sim.
i cant even search for any networks. when you try to search for networks by choosing the phone option, nothing happens, just states not available at this time. same thing when you try to choose manual or automatic search.
it accepts any sim now but wont connect to any network.
i thought it may have been barred even though i bought it 2nd hand and had it over 8 months so i checked imei on the net and it comes up clean. so not barred.
he couldnt also understand why you cannot search network, why this option cannot be selected.
so i come on this forum for some help, and a member did help me and got it working by flashing something to it via remote team viewer but after a few hours it stopped catching a signal because i downloaded an app onto it to hide root which worked but caused the phone to loose the signal again. and then when i contacted the member, he refused to do it again.
i pleaded with him to flash again or do whatever he did but after days of waiting without a phone he was not available to help. so please can anyone help and tell me what he did so i can fix my phone.
i know from users on here, you can have root hiding apps running on an s8 and still be able to perfom the fix to the problem on my phone.
i know it has something to do with imei not being registered on phone and it showing a NG next to imei.
any help or guidance would be appreciated

don't O2 unlock phones for you free of charge? That is how it used to be when I was last in UK.
I really wouldn't trust anyone to remotely download/fix phone, they could do all sorts, hopefully you got a good guy but the fact they won't do it again seems suss to me.

I suggest you flash stock o2 rom and take it to O2 to unlock phone, this will" clean" your phone so if the helpull member installed anything he shouldn't have it'll be wiped. Also check white o2 if your data etc has being used by someone else ie cloned your phone. (but there may be some other issue as the trader couldn't search for a network)

Its not locked anymore. As it accepts all sims which it didn't anymore.
This has something to do with the imei not been registered.
The imei status is NG when it should be OK.
