hi all is their any way to lower the screen keyboard tap sound without lowering system volume, its alot easier to type with it on but its very loud when my ppc is at 80% volume and i really need it at this lol
It is a bit on the loud side!
Try the attached cab - It should overwrite the 'tick.wav' in the windows directory with a quieter copy
thanks will try, has it been tested by anyone else
keyboard sound still very loud doesn't make a difference~

Hi, wonder if anybody has a way to get rid of the keyboard clicking sound on the Universal?
It would be so far better when use in quiet meetings. I was looking at the sound setting but didn't find anything there. Want to check to see if there is any registry heck or other ways to fix this.
Thanks!
go to settings->sounds
disable there the checkbox for the hardware buttons
This is strange as the hardware botton box was never ticked in the first place... I tried tick and untick and softreset it but it does not seem to work. The keyboard clicking sound still there...
Any further advice please?
The keys have a mechanical click sound built in - very difficult to get rid of.
On a similar subject - anyone know how to turn off the clicks that happen when you use the start menu?
sounds and notifications - uncheck 'Events (warnings, system events) I'm not sure what all else you lose, but it turns off what you wanted.
Thank you.
It would be so nice to have a seperate volume level for sms and system sounds.
It really is bad to have them put into one volume setting.
Developers... any ideas? Calling Vijay/Buzz... and other smart PPC devs?
the clicks are mechanical , you can't get rid of them,
a trade off between membrane and swith activated keyboards,
although more noisy, the switch activated responseivness is better
cheers
C
Thanks all for your responses. Looks like I'll need to explore other input methods during quiet meetings...
Well i have the Telus version of the HTC Touch Diamond. And sadly enough it does not have a light sensor (for some stupid reason). So i was wondering if somone could make/find a tweak that could make it so when you aare in a call the screen would not become useless but you just have to put a bit more pressure than you would normally. Because my cheek always touched the end button and it pisses me off. So you would just have to push a little harder to press the end button.
Also i dont like how you cant use ringtones as SMS/TXT sounds. Well you can but it just plays till the ringtone is over. I was wondering if there is a way that you can make it so when you recieve an SMS/TXT than you all you have to do is either tap the screen wthout anything happening from pressing it(unless you press the message tab), or to touch the center button (cause its touch sensetive) also without anything happening.
anyone??
the second one is just a sugestion
the 1st is a request please

Use one of the cooked ROMS with the Phonelock Shade/Slider
As for the second request...could you please elaborate

Pretty sure he wants to stop the ringtone manually. As opposed to letting it play a full song of 3mins.
Dude, use the MP3 trimmer and trim an MP3 down and set that as your SMS tone. Thus no more verses and choruses, only a portion of the song.
To stop the sms ringtone, you can press the call end button, but it switch you to the home page if your doing anything on the phone.
Yes Dickenz
Thats what i want but i used the trimmer but i always use the main chorus of a song
and thats to long eveytime i get a txt
So i can just press the end button?
I feel that the sound on keypress is pretty beneficial especially for me, who has a keen hearing. I don't think it affects my typing negatively, because the sound seems to be a very small process to make the phone less responsive.
I'm just having problems with the volume. It seems to be too loud sometimes. There are times when the volume is just right. I don't know if it's just me or the noise around me, but it seems to adjust without me knowing it. Either way, I want to know how to adjust the volume.
Any idea?
Adjust the media volume in settings.

Cool. Thanks.
Is there any tool that would adjust the keypress sound volume exclusively? It's nice to put it on a consistent volume so it doesn't change whenever I want my media's volume to be adjusted
i also suggest downloading the widget "audiomanager widget" from the market... it saves all the time of navigating to the settings.

to add to that, or volumer+.
Does anyone know how to change the increments that the volume changes by when using the volume buttons. They increase/decrease too much for me (increments too large). I know you can use the screen but when using the buttons you don't get this granularity/smaller step in volume

i moaned about this a while back, it's dumb, but no one seemed to agree
Use your finger ? lol
You can also change to the "sense music volume slider" (the green one with smaller steps) by reading a little here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=616917
(it doesn't work in all applications though, but most!)
I have to agree, the steps are to large. I allways have to take my phone up and use the finger to adjust it to where i want it. I know ppl say "use ur finger etc" but since the buttons are there it should't be necessary to use ur finger.

exactly, i've used my finger to bring the volume up, why do i then have to use another finger to adjust it, its balls is what it is, balls lol
Folks, I looked at the posting that was provided and it offers another screen control for the volume. What I find strange is that with all the expertise on this forum all the great Roms, Cabs, and other ingenious registry tweaks etc nobody has found a way to modify the increments (which are obviously there) to be made available to the physical volume controls.
I suspect this is because it hasn't been investigated by many as it has not been seen as something in demand. However I would like to say that it is in demand and I'll give you my reason for its request. I have my device in the car in a phone holder and when driving I wear headphones (not HTC headphones). I often need a more granular ability to change the volume through the physical controls without looking at the screen so I can keep my eyes on the road.
I am sure there are many more instances such as this where people need this.
So if there is anyone out there that can help I am sure there would be many more people than on this thread that would give thanks once such a method is discovered.
hmmm...nobody any idea how to get the volume steps smaller?

I agree that the steps are also too large! I cant' seem to change it to smaller increments.
Bump. +1
Just seen this. I often use the volume rocker when my phone is in my pocket, or when I cannot look at the screen. 1 bar increments please!
please.. we really need this..
Bumpation. This would be extremely helpful, especially when listening to music.Or ever.
... +1!
+1. Still no one found it out
There has already been an answer in this thread:

Have any of you actually tried it?
I need 12 to 16 steps or More! in volume control instead of the stock five 5? is there an easy way to do this?
Thanks
use finger

The Digital to Analog converter DAC with the Sense UI? is only set for 5 steps or 20% volume per step for a total of 100% or I can use the Audio Booster and have another 5 steps but that would be ridiculous?
I have searched some of the registry and have not found what I need to adjust to make smaller increments of control for the volume?
If anyone has come across this? please let me know, as I am testing a variety of headphones and because of the differences between them I cannot set the volume equally without an TDK analog volume control, but that changes the dynamics between test and would like to go from one to another with only adjusting the HTC HD2?
not sure if understood you correctly, but changing volume on your unit with buttons works in 5 steps, although the scale has 15,
you can however choose the individual steps with your finger - that's one option,
another is using the solution described here, then you'll have 15 steps with hardkeys, but it needs to be set for each application separately,
finally there's VolumEx app (paid)
more, more info.
I understand you can have 15 steps in Volume control with "Finger" adjustment..., But when in the Sense UI Music Player you only have choice of horizontal bar five step volume control?, I would have to get out and set volume then return to Sense UI Music Player only to find out volume is not syncronized equally across all programs, I have tried adjusting Settings with and without volume sync? Does not make difference?
Thank you p107r0 for the links on VolumeOverlay and others similar, I am going to review them now and see if this will help??
