editing Navipanel - HD2 General

Is it possible to edit Navipanel so it launches TomTom instead of Copilot?

NaviPanel and Igo8
Yes its possible,
this is my way of doing(maybe there is better one
1.Copy all files and folders except CONTENT folder(the bigges one) from IGO8 directory to Program Files\Copilot\ - you will replace Audio folder(if you didn't deleted all from here.
2.Rename iGO8.exe to copilot.exe and just in case make one copy of this file with name splashscreen.exe
3.Edit sys.txt to point to the content folder
[folders]
content="Storage Card/iGO8/content"
4. Enjoy
Regards.

Worked finr for me
Tried it on my UK HTC HD2 according to your instructions - all worked ok
No i have Navipanel running igo8 instead of Copilot
Thanks a lot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

is it possible to point the data+branding folders as well so i can save some space on device

if you have installed igo on your SD card, you just have to copy iGO8.exe, sys.txt, and GPSTMC.dll in ProgramFiles/Copilot/, then rename iGO8.exe to copilot.exe (and do the splashcreen thing, just in case )
your sys.txt must contain
[folders]
app="Storage card/igo_folder_as_you_named_it"
hope it helped

Just found this on another site, tried it and it works a treat.
To make TomTom replace copilot:
-You have to install tomtom to your SD card
-Locate the install dir of tomtom after you have installed it
-Locate the navigator.exe and copy it to another folder
-Rename the navigator.exe in the tomtom folder to copilot.exe
-Rename the navigator.exe you made copy off to splashscreen.exe
-Copy the splashscreen.exe back to same folder as the new copilot.exe is
-Rename the tomtom folder (or what ever the name is) to copilot.
-Copy the new copilot folder, and then locate the original copilot folder on device storage (Program Files/CoPilot) and paste the new folder over the original (DO NOT DELETE THE ORIGINAL FOLDER FIRST)
-Soft reset, and it should work just fine

Hi,
I´m also trying to get MN7 startet that way (But on Rhodium with Navipanel from Leo coocked in). I copied \Windows\StartMN7.exe to the \Program Files\Copilot folder and renamed it to copilot.exe. Than the same again and rename it to splashscreen.exe. But when I start MN7 within Navipanel I get an error: "Turn landscape orientation error !" and MN7 starts in portrait mode.
When closing MN7 : "Turn back orientation error".
When I start MN7 directly with \Windows\StartMN7.exe everything is fine...
EDIT: Now it´s working for me. Either it was the Soft reset i did, or the changes I made to the G-Config APP. Copilot.exe was configured in G-Sensor App.
Now the next question is if it´s possible to link the Buttons "Go Home", "Recent" and "Adress" to the corresponding actions in MN7... That would be cool and would make Navipanel more useful.

Can I just check, when you say it is working great, does tomtom navigate to your home when you press home, and to your footprints? I have followed the procedure, but while tomtom launches instead of copilot, it does not plan a route. Any suggestions for getting this to work?

Any solution for above? Thanks

Use the Full-Specs of Navipanel with different Navisoft than CoPilot
Isn't there a possibility to make make the Navipanel understand, that the Navigation-Software is in a different Folder? I can't copy the Navisoft to the HD2, because there's no free space. I'm also interested in using the Navipanel with his full specs and with MN 7 or a different Navisoft...
Who can help?

How can we auto-rotate HD2 while using iGO8 ? (I mean from potrait to landscape)

I too would also like to know if it is possible. I currently have tomtom on my storage card rather than the phone itself, isn't there a ways to make navipanel run tomtom off the storage card instead of having to copy everything over to the copilot folder on the phone (or other navisoft)? I have tried creating shortcuts to a renamed copilot.exe and splashscreen.exe but it doesn't seem to like that.

My version of copilot wont let me edit the files on the phone as i don't have permission!!!!! is there a way round this as i want to use igo not copilot

Is it possible to start the Navi Panel automatically when connected to the car charger?

Bugger... I had TomTom installed on the device; doesn't work then! *Uninstall & reinstall to SD card...* :-(

NaviPanel findings.

Did a bit of a brute force hack by moving the copilt folder and replacing it with a same named TomTom folder under program files.
I then proceeded to use and launch Navipanel.
Holding the phone in reverse landscape I was able to launch TomTom via the 6th button. However TomTom keeps decifing to launch in Portrait mode.
The Recent, Address and home buttons also try to launch tomtom but the API's don't work as they are written for CoPilot.
The other two buttons work find as they interface with the phone.
Basically at this stage it looks like Navipanel is specific for CoPilot.

This also works with igo8, but
Press Go Home, Address, Recent or Navigation and it launches in my case iGo.
it only launches the program, it goes straight to my navigation screen, not to Address or Recent or Home.
Anybody got a fix for this?
Thanks

Setting footprints on tom tom 7

I know it may sound stupid, but I can't figure out how to do it, and I already searched the forums with no luck.
My question is simple: how to set Footprints to launch and use TomTom 7 instead of the demo of Copilot on my HTC HD2.
Thanks.
I have the same question but in my case it s about igo. I would like to use footprints with my igo.. I am searching for an answer, too. If I find something I will write here. All the best.
I followed the instructions below on another thread, and they work fine in that footpriints now launches TomTom, but it does not plan a route to the footprint. Does anyone have a way of making TomTom navigate to the footprint? From what I have read, a .dll file is required for this. I'd love to get this working.
To make TomTom replace copilot:
-You have to install tomtom to your SD card
-Locate the install dir of tomtom after you have installed it

bumping as a solution would be nice!
Don't like using CoPilot so i would rather be using TomTom.
Changing a link in the registry should be an easier solution...
if i understood wright ,you have at the end to copy the entire eg igo (544mb)folder from storage card to device memory? how will this device work then whithout memory ??
i may be wrong ?
search forim pls, there is some solution linked with navipanel! dunno about the footprint how to adress the coordinates but can be made to start igo8 or tomtom. just search

Routing any GPS to be opened by Navipanel is one thing THEY are asking for something a step further on how to execute a command so it starts routing to a footprint. So far I haven't seen anyone do this.

What's the problem, they should both install although they probably won't run simultaneously.
The problem is, that both applications have to be in the main folder, but they have 1 file, which has the same name.

Do you mean they have to install from 2577 folder?
If so, just rename one of them to 25771
I can't speak for the other program but I install iGo from SD card in 2577 folder but all files are under \Storage Card\iGo so there should not be a conflict.
i tried but it does not work. i renamed the sygic \Storage Card\2577 to \Storage Card\25771, but the system can not install it. i have the igo8 under \Storage Card\2577. what can i do please?

I used a similar file structure when I used to run Sashimi for auto installing aps after a flash. The 2577 is a flag for autoinstaller to search that folder for exe files to install, but for manual installation it shouldn't matter.
I would put Sashimi in 2577 and iGo in 25771 and it would install, just not automatically.
I'm not sure why your program won't install from there. Sorry.

How to make Navipanel fully works with TomTom Navigator

Hi, all:
I uses Dutty's ROM and TomTom navigator 7.9. I did the below to make the navipanel work on TomTom, but it doesn't work well after I used the below method:
To make TomTom replace copilot:
-You have to install tomtom to your SD card
-Locate the install dir of tomtom after you have installed it
-Locate the navigator.exe and copy it to another folder
-Rename the navigator.exe in the tomtom folder to copilot.exe
-Rename the navigator.exe you made copy off to splashscreen.exe
-Copy the splashscreen.exe back to same folder as the new copilot.exe is
-Rename the tomtom folder (or what ever the name is) to copilot.
-Copy the new copilot folder, and then locate the original copilot folder on device storage (Program Files/CoPilot) and paste the new folder over the original (DO NOT DELETE THE ORIGINAL FOLDER FIRST)
-Soft reset
However, However, the "Go Home, Address, Recent" don't work. Instead, presse any icon on Navipanel, TomTom will starts. I wonder if anyone could make Navipanel fully works with TomTom?? Thanks in advance.
it doesn't necessarily have to be tom tom right?? could i use your little tutorial and make it work with google maps?? or waze?? or bing?? those are my preferred gps programs.. and they work phenomanal... especially google maps.. since i can visually track my friends progress to our destination...

Fully support that question Is there any honorable developer out who could modify NaviPanel.exe to send the right command line syntax to TomTom Navigator.exe?
If TomTom supports command line parameters at all .....
For Garmin Mobile XT it is possible via SDK or QueLaunchApp.
Edit: I just tested this. Navipanel.exe does not use command line to pass data to Copilot. Sorry folks.

So... may could you tell us how NaviPanel.exe does execute CoPilot with special functions if it is not done by parameters?

Nope. No command line parameters. I logged splashscreen.exe and copilot.exe.
I guess they use some kind of API (similar to Automation) or something ?!?
Or Post Message function. Not sure ....

What to do if I have no copilot installed. Can I still link navipanel to tomtom?

[REQ] Motonav / IGO8 on HD2

so I have been using IGO8 on WM for ages. works fine.
I now have Android running on my HD2. I read that MOTONAV is the Android equivalent of IGO8. Apparantly same directory and subdirectory structure. I have the Motonav APK but cant get it to work.
I renamed the subdirectory 'IGO8' to 'MOTONAV', ran Android and ran Motonav, but it gets stuck on installation.
Anyone know what other changes are required?
When I got motonav, it came with the apk and a Motonav folder. I manually dragged the map files from my existing IGO8's IGO8 folder to the corresponding directory in the motonav folder. I left the contents of the motonav folder, just substituting maps and voices for my region's.
IGO makes motonav, that is why they both use .fbl map files. People use motonav on the hd2 because it supports the 480x800 resolution.
One last thing. When I first installed Motonav, the installation crashed and I had to hit the red reset button beneath the battery cover. On reboot, It worked fine.
GL
u should have a folder named Motonav. in that folder u should have two more folders named: Content and License.
just install the apk. transfer all of ur old files and license and run as normal.
actually motonav is way lower than igo8 on wm... It shares same maps than igo, that's all. Screen navigation is fine but there is no parameter to configure and we can't set an trip with several checkpoints. Very basic, just set a destination from the place we are. It is the best gps under android so I am a bit disappointed.
