Advanced Settings - Enable HSDPA/HSUPA - HD2 General

Hi all,
Something I did earlier is now bugging me and I'm curious to figure it out.
I was messing around in the advanced Network settings..
When I clicked on Advanced Networks the first setting was HSDPA/HSUPA. It was set to "disable" before I did anything. Naturally, I enabled it and chose "Enable HSDPA/HSUPA".
Trouble is, I was getting the "H" on my homescreen from day 1 (when I activated a netork data connection) before I did any of that messing around in advanced settings, presuming all along that I was getting a 3.5G or HSDPA signal due to the big fat H on the top of the screen..
Question is,
A - was I?
and B, if so, why was the option disabled by default under advanced networks and what purpose is this option for if I was getting a H on my screen to begin with?
Hope that doesn't sound too confusing and that anyone can shed some light as I'm a bit perplexed.
Cheers!

Bell Mobilty Disable Roaming Data Connection

I'm gonna be traveling down to the States this weekend and I want to disable my roaming data, but not my phone. Anyone know how to do this? I see in the phone settings that i can change network setting to "home only". Has anyone ACTUALLY tried this? does this prevent my phone from making roaming calls as well?
Help would be appreciated.
You can diable data connections in the "Comm Manager".
Slide up to open the touch flo menu, then slide left or right until you see Comm Manager. Click it, then press on "Data Connection". Make sure it's not blue. If it keeps staying blue you need to disable some auto connect programs, like HTC weather.
Thanks, but is there a way to just to prevent roaming data from working? i know the sprint phones have this option.

Problem with data connectivity HTC Hero

Hi,
My Hero doesn't function properly with my provider LUXGSM here in Luxembourg. The data connection always gets disconnected after a few minutes in sleep mode.
When the Hero is unlocked, the internet connection is again established after few seconds. Gmail and other apps that need Internet connection doesn't work while the phone is on standby.
My provider doesn't get this issue fixed. Since three months I am in contact with teir helpdesk but they neither have a solution nore they know what exactly the cause for the problem is.
Does anybody has had such problems with his hero?
How does the android system keeps the Internet connection alive?
Thx for you help.
P.S.: always on mobile network is enabled on my hero. ;-)
i also have that problem
dont know if there is a setting or not

but i have enabled use only 2G network
i will try for a day disabling that to use 3G and see if that's the problem
Do you get internet connection at all in the "2G only" mode?
How about you try WCDMA only or GSM only and see if one of these alleviates the problem. I'm on 3 ireland and had similar problems until I enabled "WCDMA only" (I don't get any internet in "2G only" = GSM only)
The setting for WCDMA only is hidden, go to the dialler and enter *#*#4636#*#*
any luck finding solution?
winmarc - i am in the US but having same problem - did you figure out a solution?

3g not working after uninstalling toggle data widget !!

my 3g isn't connecting at all now.. not showing the 3g sign in the notification, and not able to connect to anything.. I downloaded this app called "Toggle Data Widget" after a bit i figure i didn't have much use for it, i unistalled it... now im stuck with this situation... anybody help?
Have you checked your network settings? in wireless is it set to gsm only? need to set it to gsm and wcdma preferred. Also check you have an entry under apn settings.

Sent from my X10i
yea i have it set to gsm and wcdma preferred, but i just noticed that it took off my username and password under my apn settings, anybody with rogers wanna share their settings for me
nvm figured it out... just hit the default settings and it works now
I have somewhat the same problem. I installed Juicedefender today, and found out that after disabling 3G, getting the 3G connection back is problematic. I tried and deinstalled all apps which had APN control. Now I'm left with a 3G connection which is very hard to find, even planemode and reboots don't work initially. After going trough the MMS and mobile network (don't know if it's the correct translation, I have a Dutch version) settings, I sometimes randomly get a 3G connection, and then it stays on as long as I don;t disconnect it. and the 3G speed also seems allright its just when I manually disable it, getting it back is a huge pain.
Any idea how I can fix this, or at least measure the 3G reception ?

Disable Notification Sound

Hello,
I apologize if I have missed this asked in the forum, or in the phone settings for that matter but is there a way to disable the notification sound on the phone. I seem to be getting notifications whenever it connects/disconnects my wifi or whenever it changes service from GPRS / Edge / 3G.... at least I believe this is whats causing the notifications as there is nothing noted in the notification bar. I have disabled the notification for "Network Notification" however this just means I don't get notified about open networks in the area.. it still notifies me when my home wifi connects.
Other than that I'm loving the phone! I was rocking a G1 with a Cyanogen ROM which was great but was looking for something to be a bit more snappy... I will say i've been very surprised at how snappy this is.
if you go under the 'mobile networks' area under 'wireless & networks', there is an option to play a sound when you go into roaming. also under the wifi settings there is a check box for a notification when an open network is available.
check that out, should solve the issue
Thank you i0nicx , i ended up stumbling upon this on my own but u are correct this is what fixed the issue :

WiFi and data settings question (HD2)??

Hi,
I am trying to figure out the different options in:
Settings => connections => advanced => select network.
What i want to do is keep wifi and data both on, so that when i open the phone from standby wifi would work in my house for data and when i head out 3G would take over the data, also when my phone is in standby mode and i have scheduled it to download my email, it should do it in standby mode via 3G or wifi without me manually tweaking the settings or manually downloading the email.
Right now, the upper option in set to T-mobile data and the lower option is set to "My work network".
please let me know,
i am sure alot of you already know the answer but i am not sure of the options.
Thanks alot in advance
