If you have the HD2 T-mobile Rom you'd find there is an application on the device called 'Instant Messaging T-Mobile' and there is an error message saying:
Sorry, there was an error starting up Instant Messanging.
Please re-start.
I have rang up T-mob and told them about this.. the reason behind this is that this application has been discontinued! so dont worry there is nothing wrong with your device, you do NOT have to hard reset it.
thanks for the info! got the same error, thought it might have been an issue/bug with WMlonglife.

Hey!
Can you send SMS from your HD2?
I get no error message, but my messages are not sent, I get a warning sign on the right of the message bar. Also, when I long-press it, I have "Retry send" option.
Does anyone else have the same problem? Anyone knows how to fix it?
Same for me. Any ideas?
I can receive sms but cannot reply back
Huh, got it fixed myself
How-to:
1. Settings tab
2. Menu -> More
3. Connections
4. Advanced network
5. Scroll to the last tab (SMS Service)
6. Set it to GPRS Preferred or set it to GSM (it's probably set to GPRS now). If it's already set like that by default and not working, just try to switch it
7. Reboot
I was having a similar problem..
I was on the Tube and I pressed send sms... obviously I had no signal which was fine but when I got above ground I pressed retry and absolutely nothing happened. At all.
Had to reset in the end and delete the message in the outbox and start a fresh. Bloody annoying!!
Hi,
Although this thread is ancient, i see it's still open and named "SMS problems" which is exactly what I'm suffering from.
I just purchased my new HD2 this month and ever since I got it I can't send any SMS. Whenever I try to I get a message saying "unable to send message". I have set my message center number and everything but it still didn't work. I called the HTC help center and they told me I should install the hotfix from the HTC website but when I attempted that, it said it wasn't compatible with my device????
I upgraded my official ROM from 1.66.415.3 to xxxx.4 again using the updates from HTC main site. Again I got the same message.
Up till now I'm still not sure what the problem I have is, and have no clue what the hotfix really does!
Can anyone help me out in babysteps? I'm still new to this.
PS. I did look through the other forums for something similar. It seems everyone's sending texts but to the wrong people, lol.
HELP PLEASE!
everytime i try to update a contact info from facebook or something, i get a nag screen coming up saying saying something along the lines of 'windows live could not connect problem' and then i have to press dismiss, for it to come up again repeatedly.
Any idea on why, or a fix?
ok, i'm getting somewhere, albeit, slowly!
Downloaded the latest version of live from microsoft as posted on the massive thread about windows live messenger and can now download the contact photos and info from facebook, however I'm still getting the screen that says theres been a problem, and they option to dismiss it. It then still appears again straight away!
Any help?
Well, it's not a fix, but if you turn off error reporting, the nag screen will stop interrupting you......
Cheers sam,
It's that screen thats annoying me more than anything. I'll have a look for error reporting now, i'll find it eventually! Lol
Any idea what causes it anyway?
if it's the one under settings>updates & Feedback>Error Reporting then it don't do anything!
I've had it turned off all the time mate! Any more suggestions?

I had this problem a while ago and to be honest there hasnt really been a fix for it. However, with the recent release of the 1.66 rom, Windows live messenger has been flawless. Prior to flashing to the new rom (was on 1.61) my messenger would randomly come up with that message forcing me to soft reset my phone in order for messenger to work.
Although I've only been using 1.66 for 2 days, I have yet to come across this message. In fact i think its the first time i havent had to restart my phone a few times everyday SMS's stuck in the outbox hasnt happened yet for me on 1.66 so lets hope thats fixed as well ^^
I purchased a new shadow unlocked phone online and started using my AT&T sim card with it. I am receiving error text messages saying something like this: 453 Error Invalid number. Pleas re-send using a valid 10 digit mobile number or valid short code. The number that sends this msg is 1121611611. I read forums about it. t seems like it is pretty common and an old issue. Some suggest the myfave should be deleted, some suggest other things that are impossible for me to understand. I am a new shadow user. I don't know much about this phone. Actually, I am not good with any kind of technology. According to the suggestions, myfave should be under startup file under windows, but there is no such file there. There are "voice command" and something called "PKG" only. I don't know what to do with this issue. As a temporary solution, I stopped receiving text msg option completely. Can somebody please help me with this issue? And please explain to to a 4 years old kid
Hi all, I think my hd2 is infected with something after I install some game today. Found the games from a chinese forum and I didn't think much about virus on mobile devices(learned my lesson). Anyway, I need some advice or help to remove it. (stock US t-mobile)
I've already installed the latest kaspersky mobile and found nothing after scan.
This is the exact text msg i got: (i never text since my plan doesn't include it)

Free msg: Unable to send messsage to 13559148207. Please try again without a symbol in the text.

the ONLY thing id do if i found i was infected would be a hard reset. Why risk messing about trying to remove it? Wipe and then you KNOW its gone.
INcidentally, put 13559148207 into google and translate some of the pages that come up. All chinese, all talking about virus in game.
Hey all together,
my Android was working very nice for me the last few days.
But this morning I bootet Android and right after I unlocked my SIM I got an error called
“android.process.acore was forced to terminate“ or something like that. When I press Terminate, the same error pops up a second later. I cant do anything anymore in Android because this error always pops up.
Is it possible that this error has something to do with broken contacts. I imported contacts yesterday and theres a field called “notes” or something like that in google contacts and this is filled with strange tokens.
I read something that this error maybe could have something to do with this, how can I repair the google contacts if i can't do anything in my Android?
Some1 else also got this problem and found a solution??
I’m really clueless about this atm..
Thanks in advance!!

i'm sorry but my experience is that you have to reinstall android completely. i never could fix these errors... and i never found a thread where someone posted a solution for fixing these errors!
you are right: in 99% this error comes from broken(?) google contacts - this happened to me when my battery is running out while android is still running.
you could try to delete the contacts online from your computer and start android again (i guess you can't get to contacts on android since the error pop ups all time!)
ok, i can't find a known fix. however I found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8608622&postcount=8
this fix is pertaining to "contacts" specifically. my error happens with launcherpro. i can't get past that dang error screen.
the error occurs everytime i switch to new build but keep my data image file. all the chefs say that's all you have to do to keep your settings and data. but this error makes me have to start everything from scratch. any help would be appreciated in identifying the disconnect and solving this.
