SMS messages are being resent over and over again

I just flashed my Cingular 8125 to TNT.20273 "Professional Home Free" and I am having a serious problem with SMS: Every message I have sent since the flash (4 of them) keep getting resent over and over again. After a soft reset, the messages will get resent the instant I open the Messaging app to the SMS account. Even without a soft reset it seems to resend them every so often.
My best guess is this is some sort of feature where it is not getting a delivery receipt so it's resending the messages. Does anyone know how to fix this?

My apps are not set to close rather than minimize. And this isn't just sending them "more than once" - it's tons and tons of times. Those 4 SMS I sent yesterday have been resent literally over a dozen times over the last 12 hours.

First of all, you most likely DO have a program that closes apps. It's part of the Pro Edition, and it's probably part of the build you installed too, and it's called "CloseApps." Even though your symptoms are worse than most people who experience this kind of fault, it's still the same type of fault, and is probably being caused by CloseApps.
Try posting your issue on the TNT.20273 thread. The one that cooked that ROM may have already addressed this issue, and if not, you might get some debug help from that person, or at least get help from people who use that ROM.
Posting on a generalist board like this might net you good info, but usually it won't.

Same problem. Solved by flashing another ROM (WM6.1.Rus.Clean)

the way to verify if it's the close program which cause it is to not close poutlook
untill after the msg was sendt notification is recieved

a number of other programs cause this problem as well, including spb pocket plus

Which, I believe, is also part of the package that OP installed.

It is definitely NOT caused by the problem you guys are saying, as I have send an SMS, and left Outlook open all day and that same SMS gets resent several times. It will literally never stop sending until I delete the SMS and then remove it from my deleted items.
The problem appears to be that I am never getting the message receipt notification. I get the notice that it has been sent but I never get one saying that it was received, even though I turned that option on.
However, you're probably right that it's caused by the build I got so I'll just switch to a different one for now.

when I have this problem I find that the text is stuck in the sent items folder....just delete to remedy issue....

I have a probem.

Ok this is the first problem I have not been able to find a solution for so I wouldnt mind a bit of help.
Whenever I receive an E-mail I get a msg saying "file is too big" on the home screen (windows live in the task bar). Its not a massive issue but its annoying as hell. Has anyone seen this before or know of a solution for it?
I know a hard reset will probaby fix it but thats a last resort because ill have to set everything up again.

Also I lost my lock slider bar th other day too and cant turn it back on, dont know if the 2 issues are related but maybe itll help with a solution!

ok I sorted the lock screen issue with BSB tweaks but the E-mail problem is still there.
Any ideas?

How about checking in your live settings how many characters you allow for 1 mail (like 15.000 or 30.000) put that to the maximum to begin with.
Has your inbox any large mails from the last two weeks ? Even ones without attachment can be very large.
If all else fails delete your mail account from device, and resync it after recreating it.
Hard reset seems to much for this problem. Hope this helps.

New SMS issue...

I've searched for this but come up with nothing.
This initially occoured with the SMS hotfix, but is now also happening with the ROM upgrade to 1.66.
When I open a message thread from someone and start writing a reply, as the last message in the thread loads it is like i have touched the screen and highlighted one of the individual messages as it turns black. I can still type although none of the text appears until i tap in the text box again, where all of the text i'd been continuing to write appears.

Same here am on stock rom and it only happened since hot fix ...and another thing this last 3 weeks Ive started having the sms stuck in outbox randomly in untill I reset the phone ...
Never had this problem before or for a month after hot fix ..Had the phone since November

i've noticed this as well. you can continue to type, but the text doesn't show up until you touch the text box.
it seems that it's doing some sort of enumeration/parsing of the sms messages in the conversation as you can see number of messages counting up in the bracket at the top of the screen before it then highlights the last message.

I get this but also when I insert a symbol it puts it at the biginning of the message regardless of where I was!

So it's not just me then!
I have also noticed the cursor jumping to the beginnning of the message for no apparent reason.

yes its discused already here somwhere (im to lazy to search for it ). the sms application normmaly reads all messages and then sets the focus to the last msg. so far so good. to serve the users that complaining about the long time the have to wait until the can answer a message, htc made a fix so you can start typing directly. unfortunatly they miss to disable the routine that is setting the focus ;(. i found out that i can continue typing even when im not seeing what is going on on the screen. after i finished typing my line i touch the display to set the focus back to my text. meanwhile i switched to rom 2.02 and have no problems with lost focus anymore.

I'm getting this problem since the "upgrade" to 1.66.
However, at least I can send text messages now!
Since 1.66 I've also got the pink tinge in the middle of photographs problem back but the fix published by HTC wont work with 1.66.

Anyone got this solved? When 1.66 were released, a 3rd sms hotfix also were released. Does this fix the highlighing problem, or is this just for people who don't want to upgrade to ROM 1.66, but want to send SMS messages?

I had brought this up before now.
This happens for both 1.66 and also people applying the hotfix, as the hotfix is included in the 1.66 rom.
If we could disable it selecting the last message once it has loaded them all, this wont be a problem anymore.
The problem before was it taking forever to load the text, so they fixed that by loading it in the background (i still dont see why ALL messages from that conversation has to be loaded, would be better if it had pages like it did on my diamond), but this fix has then included the fact it looses focus on your typign when the final message is loaded and selected. As stated you can still type and send, you just cant see it untill you press the text box again.

Hmm... wonder if this is a registry thing.. But a "finished_loading_higlight_last" set to "1" would be to easy, right?

Gonna try this out: trying to locate the "highlight image" on the device. Maby a black .png image is to find on the device somewhere... and search for the filename in the registry... I'm kinda noob at registry etc. but this might be a way to find out if we can disable the highlight of the latest message...

I would guess the black highlight image is embedded in a manila file.

Same problem here with 1.43 and hotfix installed. I guess it's still better than waiting forever for the messages to load...

Mine is also doing this and I'm running Dutty's Leo HG v0.9 WWE.. Quite annoying!
Text input gets really sluggish too, and I find I often enter the wrong characters in a text as a result..?
Seems to happen when I've got 300 messages stored by a contact or No messages stored by a contact, and is a pretty much on/off thing as it can be fine sometimes??

yeah, same problem here on cooked 2.02 rom.
What can we do against that?
HTC fixed the bug that you can start typing immediately, but that seems not to be fixed if you are using Swype as your default keyboard. Still have to wait till all messages are loaded to start swype recognizing my inputs.

I've experienced this problem too. However, I think the highlighting of the last message behaviour is intended because if you think about it, what you are doing when you touch the text message to enter the 'proper' text messaging app is to select that message - hence it selects it for you.
Now, if you just want to reply without it highlighting the last message mid way through, then select the right 'Menu' softkey and then select 'Reply' from the pop up menu. It'll go straight to the typing bax and shouldn't highlight the last message.

According to the about I have "Messages for Pocket PC" v1.8 - build 2016.1228.
I'm using duttys New Era v1, Been happening for a while now using previous versions of duttys HG too (Tho not seen any other reports).
If I receive a message and reply it gets sent to another contact, typically the last contact i sent a message too or received from.
Anyone else have this issue or a fix for it.
You can work around it by always doing a new message but this is a bit annoying.

that's a strange one, does it still say at the top of the message you are replying to the right contact?

Yeh, Messages appear correct in conversation mode.
I only found out when a friend said he got some messages with no idea what they where about

that's quite random, although there was something like this a few months back, they did get it sorted but they hard reset and re-flashed there rom if i remember, you're contacts aren't messed up though are they?

Don't think so, Not noticed anything.
I always softreset after a flash.

Problem Thread

I know there's other "problem threads" out there, but im going to list every problem I have with my vibrant, and reply back if you get some of the same, and add what you get too. I am also only rooted, lag fixed, and I did some GPS fix which worked pretty well. Anyways, here I go.
1. My touch screen randomly goes out, the screen doesnt freeze, just the touch disables itself for a short period, still haven't figured out why.
2. Shows different names in Notification bar then who actually texted me.
3. I click a text person name, and it comes up as someone else randomly also.
4. Some contacts just simply can't be linked to their facebook profile. Not sure why or if its me, but most are linked but some remain not.
5. Sometimes, while I have full service and 3g available, I cannot send texts. It says "sending" then never sends. Usually have to restart my phone.
This last thing isn't a "problem" but its super annoying, getting a facebook update on a picture, going to the picture it only shows the picture and no comments. So then I use either full site version or the fb app. But anyway, just a little rant. Flame if you must.
