Coreplayer / iPlayer & HD2 - HD2 General

There seem to be some issues with coreplayer on the HD2. Couple of reports in the corecodec forums. Personally I can't play anything downloaded off iplayer - it crashes the phone and it needs a soft reset to recover.
Anyone else seen a problem?

heard you had to switch "play mode" - GDI or directdraw... don't remember actually, but have you tried it?
ah, found it.. from DD --> GDI (video output)

Yeah, my old version of coreplayer didn't work at all which was upsetting since it's a great player. Instant crash. I had to find version 1.3.6, that's working a treat.

I am using Coreplayer 1.30 for streaming the videos of myplayer 1.80. I have no problems at all.

HD2/myplayer/coreplayer
Hmmph. Hope this is the right place to post and that someone can help...
I wanted to get iPlayer working on my HD2 (T-mobile). Investigated various methods and got nearest with myplayer.
However, when coreplayer is invoked all I get is a dark screen with the player controls at the bottom, menu items etc, and a rotating-dots hourglass thing (sorry - don't know tech term for that). It seems to have loaded the duration of the stream but gone straight to the end of it (the position slider is all the way to the right).
I have set the video out to GDI.
I'm using a Wi-Fi connection (phone turned off).
myPlayer version: 1.080
CorePlayer version: 1.3.6 build 7427 for ARM
Sometimes in CorePlayer I get the following error and then the device locks up.
"File not found!rtsp://3gp-acl.bbc.co.uk:554/3gpclip/iPlayer (FFFFFFF8)".
Any ideas please?

HD2/myplayer/coreplayer
Hi All!
Similar to David Copus -[HD2/myplayer/coreplayer] problems. myPlayer starts up coreplayer but hangs on trying to load the stream video. I tried player through divx 0.9 also and asplayer
I have set the video out to GDI and RawFrame Buffer
I'm using a Wi-Fi connection
myPlayer version: 1.080
CorePlayer version: 1.3.6 build
Please help.
If there are also any support ideas on trying to run .avi
coreplayer and divx player run some but some files require AC-3 & some ATS or something? (Do i need to wait for coreplayer 2.0 or are there alternatives?)
Thanks

Any idea?
I seem to have the same issue as the above two people!
Coreplayer 1.3.6 working fine, using GDI, quite happy with that. However when I come to use myPlayer it just launches with a blank screen (although I can get certain "live" content to work - so far BBC News 24 and Sky News!).
Anyone any ideas?
(thanks)

Same here, except I'm using 3G and not tried RawFrame.
I've downloaded and played something via myPlayer, but if I try to stream I get the same as the guys above - it's as if it's jumped right to the end of the stream and therefore won't play. If I move the slider back to the beginning, I just get the "busy" animation ad infinitum.
Can't be doing with having to download everything I want to watch!

Guys, please help
I have an HTC HD2 and have successfully installed Coreplayer and MyPlayer. Every time I try to run MyPlayer I get the much mentioned error below:
myPlayer Exception
1.090
Execution error unable to invoke media player in the path:
\Program Files\SorePlayer\player.exe
....
________________________________
I have made the Video change to GDI in CorePlayer and it makes no difference.
P.S. I can only assume that the good people at CorePlayer are doing their very best to dissuade people from using their product. You need some persistence to get to the stage where you get their product on your device. Is it any wonder that iPhone and the app store is so successful?

I have been steaming iPlayer and several live radio and TV stations from all over the world with Skyfire - and over 3G! No problems at all

For CorePlayer use:
DirectDraw
Overlay format YUY2
uncheck all in DirectDraw tab
Most speedy for me about 2.7 Mbit/s

The error tells us that the core player application cannot be found at the location specified. Looks like a typo in the path.
I would suggest:
\Program Files\SorePlayer\player.exe
should be set to:
\Program Files\CorePlayer\player.exe
Best thing to do is to select "Other" and use the "..." button in myPlayer to find the application on your device.
Hope that helps!

Yes, Coreplayer crashes the HD2
Yes, me too. Got my HD2 yesterday. Stupid WMP won't play avi, so I shelled out for Coreplayer and the first 2 avi files I tried to play and it crashed the phone and had to do a soft reset. The files play fine on my PC.
Can't find any other avi player for the HD2 on the Net. Betaplayer and its variants are all versions of Coreplayer.
Any ideas, anyone?

I don't have CorePlayer, but assuming it works the same way as TCPMP, try choosing DirectDraw as your video renderer and YUY2 as your DirectDraw overlay format. Tick the "use device stretching" box and uncheck the others on the DirectDraw page. If all that doesn't help then change the renderer to GDI.
EDIT: as this post has been linked to a couple of times recently, I felt I should redraft it a little!
The full set of optimum video settings for TCPMP or Coreplayer (in my opinion) is:
- Orientation: left-handed
- Zoom: fit best
- Video renderer set to DirectDraw
- Smooth zoom to "on" or "always" (NOT to 50%)
- Dither on (for the times when you need to switch to GDI, e.g. for subtitles)
- In the DirectDraw properties, set overlay format to YUY2. Also tick the box that says "use device stretching when blitting" and untick the other two boxes.

Fix for Coreplayer avi problem
Fixed. The Corecodec support forum has the answer: go into Video Settings in Coreplayer, and change from DirectDraw to GDI. Both avi files play just fine now and the player is excellent.
Cheers,
David

And thanks to the people in this forum who made the same/similar suggestions. Cheers!

I've had issues, but not the one stated... Mine plays the sound fine, but has tonnes of error blocks in the picture. I'm using the same encoder (Pocket Divx) and TCPMP version I used on my Magician (correct me if I'm wrong, but I couldn't find a newer version of TCPMP)... Any suggestions on what to change would be gratefully received...

As stated a zillion times in this forum: switch to raw mode ( i dunno if it helps cause i dont use that app... but that is what they say)
I also can't get TCPMP to work.
I get a severe stuttering screen then it goes black. When I touch the screen it then switches to full screen mode and then plays with a slight stutter.
However the clip repeats itself and I can't quit out of the program, my only option is to press the reset buton.
I'm using TCPMP and after changing to raw have had no issues.
Well, I wouldn't say "no issues". Rawframe buffer is probably the slowest displaying method.
I tend to use DirectDraw, but under DirectDraw preferences, change output to YV12 (it defaults to RGB I believe). Everything then plays fine. It's not as fast as hardware accelerated video (ATI Imageon), but until Coreplayer/TCPMP provides proper support for Imageon, DD will have to do.

This fix worked for me on an Orange M700 (HTC3600). Select the ATI IMAGEON option, not the ATI IMAGEON Decoder.
I also have the Smooth Zoom (only 50%) option and Dither checked.
Thanx, it works oke now...
Now I am searching for dutch spoken movies... anyone?
I have a SPV M700 and I have same problem with TCPMP audio stopping after 2-3 seconds no matter how I configure it. There is another alternative to TCPMP as good as it?
One curios thing I observed is that when I flashed a fresh new WM6 and installed first the TCPMP only I had no problem with it but after i added all the rest of software this problem start to appear.
Another thing I observed if i switch to full screen and back sometimes randomly this problem dissapear.

Best settings Coreplayer on a Xperia?

I just bought the newest coreplayer because it bothered me that there was so much i could not play smooth or could not play at all.
I now have it installed, and i was wondering what the best settings are so it will play any video smooth.....
Any suggestions?

There is no free Coreplayer unless it's cracked right? That would be illegal mate and make the mods come knocking on your door very quickly....
Just a hint....
To get back on-topic:
If you have coreplayer then you can play almost any avi, mp4, xvid file you might have. No need to encode movies, unless you want to shrink down the size and resolutions, otherwise... copy, paste and play

I benchmarked a few things and came up with these settings:
These speed up things a little, but not much. (+1fps):
Video:
- "QTv Display" is fastest for me
- "Smooth Zoom" : "Only for 50%" <--- screen resolution is high, you will not see a difference in quality.
Advanced:
- "Slow video memory" : Enable <--- Speedup!
- "Higher priority music playback" : Enable <---- Music plays even if you surf in Opera.
- "Disable AVC deblocking filter" <---- enormous speedup, but makes the quality of the video worse (blocking/artiiacts)
QTv Display:
- "TyTN II" driver mode: Enable <----- Speedup on X1
Other settings (no speedup, but are nice):
Player:
- Play music in background
- Single click fullscreen
Advanced:
- Register with SPB Menu system
Is your xperia a prototype? I've got a release one and CorePlayer seems to be able to use the Imageon chip (fast)
Coreplayer don't use the imagineon chip...

yeah I asked the same question and they need to give us an update for the youtube.

hy, i found the solution, just change the "YouTube Format" in the network settings to "RTSP (medium)" and the integratet browser and player works like a charm but, now i have the next problem ^^ is it possible to stream any tv shows like giga etc? i always get error messages. i think the xperia has superior hardware but the software is just some piece of ****. at the moment i can stream nearly nothing ^^ is that a fault of the codecs or of the player itself?
Very strange - on my sex1 this player is SLOW AS HELL!!!

TCPMP

Hi guys!
I have recently tried getting TCPMP to work on TP2. Without any luck.
Firstly there seemed to be a problem with it running on WinMo 6.1. That has however been fixed in a thead somewhere here on xda dev.
I have tried all three of these fixes, and while they managed to get TCPMP open after install (Not get the crash.txt msg), it caused the TP2 to crash when opening a video file (even when trying to run the video that comes with the phone (my documents -> movies)).
Anyone know of any other solutions? because i have been searching but havent found anything to get this working.
Cheers!
same problem to me, I can't even play the video recorded with my TP2. It just hang.
its special TCPMP thats, working here. I have this functional, if you want to post it, just let mi know.
JF
Make it so, please.
Why don't you use Coreplayer for playing movie clips?
I'm having not issues playing most types of movie file... Great player!
Probably because Coreplayer is not freeware.
TCPMP is the predecessor of Coreplayer
its here: http://www.digitwins.com/download/TCPMP-0.72RC1.zip

No luck yet
Thanks for the link, but is this version working on yours? At least I was able to open a video file (mp4) without my TP2 crashing like it did with other recomps I've tried, but the image is all messed up with green lines and **** all over the place...
Sorry, Im not using TCPMP for viewing pics. Didnt noticed that. And Im not gonna use it fot it ;-)

Thank you and sorry for me english
I just use this app now works like a charm.

It is not possible for me :
- Core player can't start, I don't see the app after pressing the icon
- TCPMP-0.72RC1 open, but the videos are not working, it crashes
Is it a problem of 3D driver or somethong like that?
Well I too am using Coreplayer and it works just fine. v1.3.2 build 6909 for ARM. Plays VGA .avi files perectly...
Had the same problem with TCPMP crashing until I unchecked "DirectDraw" in Video Settings (i.e. use GDI or Raw Frame Buffer).
twana, that is brilliant, I'd given up on TCMP having tried every version I could find.
Did you find out how to fix the blacked-out buttons in the toolbar?
Black buttons are caused by the theme you're using. And yes even HTC standard theme is causing this
Hello!
Thank you Twana, TCPMP works fine for me when I put "GDI" in the video settings!
It is great.

Selecting gdi/rawframe buffer in video settings is a must. Also check tools -> preferences -> file associations if you want them to play aac mp4 etc it must be checked there.

iplayer downloads?? Can't get them to work.

Sorry for the noobish question but my problem is as follows....
I know the BBC Iplayer site states the HD2 is not compatable and either way I thought I'd put some downloaded programmes on my phone to watch.
So I downloaded them as 'portable device download' from the iplayer site to my PC and then tried to drop them onto the card to watch. They're WMV files. But I get an error message stating "the device has either stopped responding or has been disconected".....not sure what I'm doing wrong and would be glad of some advice. All I'm trying to do is copy and paste them over to the phone card.
Anyone?
Can't explain that I'm afraid but I did read a while back that the files need to be synched through Windows Media Player and in the past that the file needs to pass a drm check before it will play - someone wrote even longer back that starting to play the fie on the PC so it checks drm, then moving it worked.
Do you get that message when moving anything else to your sd card?

This is a problem to do with transferring large files rather than the HD2's ability to play the WMV files. Try connecting the HD2 in Disk Drive mode - it worked for me.
You might want to try searching this site for an application called myplayer - it makes accessing iPlayer a lot less painful and allows higher-quality downloads.

TCPMP is more likely to be stable (i.e. not crash or lock up the phone) in GDI or Raw Framebuffer mode. So is CorePlayer, come to that.
If TCPMP is crashing before it even lets get you into the menu, that may be because it's trying to display the opening frame of the video that you previously told it to play, and doing that in DirectDraw mode. You can get around that by temporarily moving or renaming whichever file it's trying to display.
I have myPlayer and Coreplayer.
With myPlayer you get the latest viewable content ... but can search for anything. If you have the iPlayer website open that may be easier to search.
Once you've found what you want, just use myPlayer to download over wireless to your device (you can also stream for instant playback (even over 3g).
myPlayer has a view downloads screen with all the programmes you've downloaded. You select one, say view now ... it launches Coreplayer ... and it plays perfectly.
Never had a problem. This is infact one of the most amazingly together capabilities of the HD2 with this huge screen. In the evening I choose something to watch on the train on the way to the city the next day ... love it.
Paul.

OK. I tried moving the file, but it's still crashing. I'll uninstall it again, later, and delete any settings that are left behind in the registry. And when I get TCPMP working again, I'll give those other modes a go.
Having got iplayer downloads to play on my HD2 having put them on the sd card I'm now having some playback problems.
Basically the quality of the picture and the sound is fine in principal but upon playback on WMP the programme pauses or sticks every second or so. The pause is only for a fraction of a second, just enough for the picture to momentarily catch or stick before continuing. I could live with this but at the same time the sound is also distorted making programmes unwatchable. If downloaded to my PC the same programmes are fine, it's not the download itself it's just once on the phone thats the problem.
Tried various programmes, all the same. Tried downloading direct from iplayer site to the card, still occurs.
Could this be a card problem. It's a sandisk 8Gb SDHC card. Any ideas?
I configured Opera to try direct streaming from iPlayer ... and it worked fine althought he picture was a little pixelated.
I know CorePlayer is a cost ... but if iPlayer is important to you, the combination of myPlayer and Coreplayer for iPlayer (and other channels) is incredibly simply ... live streaming is better quality ... and the download manager is completely seemless. Quality of downloaded video is genuinely perfect ... as good as anything at high bit rates I have on my Archos AV5100.
All I can say is that if you can stretch to Coreplayer ... I'd go with myPlayer.
Going through the website for either streaming or download (even on a PC) is so much more clunky.
Paul.

Rom: Dutty 6.1
I've spent several frustrating weeks now trying to get coreplayer to work properly.
Either the video playback is really choppy with frames frequently dropped or the video is out of sync with the audio.
I've gone through loads of configuration suggestions that I've found online, Before each test I've reset the settings to default by clearing out the config.xml file.
I've gone through the following Roms, in case it could be Rom related
Kwbr_Topix_3.5.10_Sense2.5_WM6.5
TOPIX_Kwbr_Win 6.5_Ver_21877_TouchFLO3D 2.1.38411.0

I've tested the wmv file on the phone memory to confirm it wasnt an issue with the speed of the storage card.
I've contacted coreplayer and submitted a ticket... All I got back from them was an automated response a week later saying my ticket had been closed.
Id also like to try setting up Coreplayer v1.3.5, where can I get a version to install?
Does anyone have any other suggestions as to how I can get coreplayer to work?
Thanks

RUU_Duttys_HD_V3.9 _XT_Turbo_5.2.21051.1.6.4_1.59.709.0_Radio_52.62.25.34_1.14.25.24_V2.1
Thanks
