alright so I'm new to this, but I followed the instructions to hardspl, and got up to the point where i had 4.70yang as my spl, and was going to flash through SD. it wouldnt read the SD card, and i tried formatting it in FAT32, with the allocation unit size to 4096, and when that didnt work, i tried other variations. Then I figured I'd try flashing the other way, but couldnt do it because i couldnt get a sync with the computer. I didnt know whether to go into the actual canonyang ROM, but anyway I did, and if I connect the USB cable, nothing happens, no activesync. i tried the bootloader screen, no USB connection. every other alternative i saw, removing the hardspl, flashing otherways, etc etc i cant do without a USB connection. im not sure if i did anything wrong, im convinced i didnt. im hoping the solution is really simple, cause i cant get activesync to work.. im really frustrated, lol. if anyone could offer solutions, that would be amazing.

Please keep all non-development posts off the development forum.
As far as your problem goes:
Activesync won't connect per say in SPL mode but it should still let you flash. In SPL mode, there is no syncing so the icon never turns green but it still works just fine. As far as working with the SD card, the SD card cannot be a SDHC card. The SPL doesn't have a SDHC driver.
Try a smaller SD card (2GB's or less since they are usually non-SDHC) or flash through SPL even though activesync doesn't show as connected.
sorry about posting it in the wrong place. where should i have posted? and thank you for replying
and what IS the SPL mode? what screen should i be seeing? cause if i let it load then it just goes to the regular phone screen as if im on an actual OS, and sync doesnt work there. and yes im using a 2gb SD card, not SDHC.

Ok, make sure you followed these SD Flashing instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=581996
It should work. And also, please read up on the terms, and that will help you understand everything.
And what Ivan was referring to, about flashing without ActiveSync connected....put your phone into the bootloader, connect USB, wait one minute, and then attempt to flash. Tell me if you did EVERYTHING in the first paragraph's link first, though.
OK. I see what the problem is. You're in the OS but the OS is the stripped OS.
Hold down your camera button and then press the soft reset button. Then you'll be in SPL mode. From there you can flash anything you want.
hey thanks for the help ive flashed a ROM or two using flash center so thats working fine i got past that. but im still trying to flash through SD. it wont read my card still after formatting it to FAT32 and putting the HERAIMG.nbh file. i read on another post that the nbh version number could be a factor? how would i go about messing around with that?
As I mentioned: Is your SD card a SDHC card? If it is, it won't work. The NBH version is set by the cook and if it works with the flash center then it works with the SD card. Any ROM created for flashing through SD card is made with the correct numbers.
Hey Ivan
I'm new here and i've flashed several ROMS via RUU, so far the Glass one is my favorite.. Since y'all are on the topics of SD or SDHC cards, quick question...
I have a 2 gb SD card and i've been unsuccessful in flashing via SD. Formatted in fat32, named it HERAIMG.nhb and put it in the root, already been hardspled. Here's the question, in XP it shows as "Secure Digital Storage Device" I was wondering maybe the bootloader couldn't read the SD because it's the "secure" type not the regular one? Tried the quick format and full format to no success.
any input would be helpful
Secure Digital is what SD stands for. No matter what brand you use, that is what they are all called. There is no regular or secure SD card.

Hi guys,
My USB port will charge, but it doesn't seem to want to connect to a computer regardless of the cable or the OS/machine. The device manager won't even flinch. Not a huge deal, I sync to exchange over the air and I can bluetooth if necessary... but, I really want to upgrade my rom to the new tmobile 4.26 that came out recently. Has anyone had luck with the SD card flash? I formatted the card fat32 and put on the file as HERAIMG.nbh, but no luck, the bootloader just sits there whether I have the card in, or put it in in that screen. I see a quick "searching for SD card" before the bootloader goes, but nothing ever takes. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Ray
I had to rename the img to "heraimg.nbh" lower case for some reason. I am using a 1gb card formatted Fat32.
Also, your phone has to be HardSPL'ed. It SHOULD be all upper case, nailtoe's phone would be the exception. How big is your SD card?
It's 1GB. Am I out of luck without USB, or is there a non-usb hardspl technique? Now that I just asked that I'm going to search the forum to look, but ... meh. I think I'm gonna have to call t-mobile and get a replacement.
I need HardSPL even though I'm trying to go to a t-mobile rom?
if you're trying to flash back to the stock tmobile rom and you've extraced the .nbh from the RUU, you shouldnt need HardSPL to flash if you're not already HardSPL'd

I had no idea I was the exception. Not trying to counter your statement I know you are experienced enough to know what you are saying. But I tried and tried for days with capped and it refused to boot it. Ever since then I go lower case haven't tried it with caps since. Might have to try it proper next time I flash. Interesting how sometimes things do what they do though.
Hi i have flashed my HD2 from a sd card for more than 30 times but now I am unable to flash using my sd card.
I get into the boot loader mode with leoimg.nbh on sd card, but in the bootloader mode white colored loading screen appears for some fractions of a second and returns to tri color screen.
I was using Ozrom on the device last when i discovered this problem.
spl - 1.42.hspl
cotullahspl
Please help...
Sorry for my bad english.
Also I had already done alot of searching but could not find anything...
Update :
Now i cant flash from usb also. First I was able to flash from usb but now I cannot.
-Tried using a new sd card and formatted with fat32 file system. Problem still exists...
-Checked the file name and extensions its not "leoimg.nbh.nbh".
-Tried flashing just leoimg.nbh on card
-tried flashing with 5 different roms from different cooks
-tried renaming the file to capitals LEOIMG.nbh
-updated the hspl to hspl2 2.08
Problem is not solved.
There may be a problem with the sd card. Are you still using the same card you have used before? If so, try formatting the card (FAT32) or try a different sd card if you have one.
You can of course continue using usb, sd card flashing is only really needed in order to remove hspl.
Maybe is your card corrupted, try to format it in FAT32...
Tried using a new sd card and formatted with fat32 file system. Problem still exists...
Mate, you only need to flash from sd card when you cant flash from usb. I dont know why you are getting this error but dont worry too much. Did you name the file correctly (leoimg)? It's easy to make a mistake here. Some people rename the file to leoimg.nbh - you dont need to add the .nbh. It's already an nbh file - so you would end up with leoimg.nbh.nbh
Lastly dont flash a 2.10 rom via sd card or you will end up stuck with an spl that you cant change
i know about the file extensions and file names...i am flashing since 3 years from memory card....i am not a newbie..tell solutions other than the problems occured to noobs...like rename error..format memory card stuff...i want some solution other than that..
thanx alot for your support its really appreciated...looking forward for your help..hope now this time you can divert me in the right direction

I always used to flash my diamond from internal storage when i had it. Got my HD2 and carried on flashing from SD for my first 2 or 3 ROMs and then it stopped working having the same thing as you. As if it tries to read the .nbh then goes back to the bootloader. I havent let it worry me as im nearly always next to a pc when im flashing a new ROM (have to be now), but I would be interested to find the answer as well.
but no one is really interested to reply here peovide a solution.....infact they are advising to flash from a pc...but i want to flash from a sd card
Just keep using USB, less lilkely to go wrong anyway
Hi
I just got my HD2 that my uncle got for me. I have been playing with the phone for about an hour and decided to watch the Transformers movie. To my surprise when I launch the icon, I get the message "media file not found". I checked to see if there was a microSD installed, and found that there was one.
Next I went to >settings > SD card & phone storage to see what was listed, and under the SD Card section is says "No SD card"!
Can someone please explain why this is so?
Also, I did try another sd card from another phone I have, and got the same "no sd card" listed.
I pray to god that this is not a fault with the phone, since it was picked up at a store today.
Thank you

What have you installed on your phone?
nothing, i was just setting up the phone.
i would take the cover off and press the red button its called a soft reset it wont erase anything its almost like restarting your computer if it still doesnt show up than i'd consider a hardreset which will erase data or reflashing a rom.
Are you In Euro or US?
Are You using a ROM?
I saw a yellowish like bottom next to the sd card slot and thought it might be a reset, and and pinned pressed it. Dont see any red button. The reset restarted the phone, but no luck.
I am in the US.
Not sure what you mean by "using a ROM".
Haven't done any sort of custom updates nor anything of that nature.
well its hard to tell the exact problem with your phone but i would suggest using Touch X Rom (there are others too i have had best experience with this one) it makes your phone run very nicely check out the thread on my signature and if your interested there is a guide in my signature as well for flashing your phone.
Is that going to void the warranty? are you sure this might fix the phone not recognizing an SD card.
dont quote me but i think if you flash back to the original rom you will be okay but its something you should research and look into i would think that it would fix it unless there is something physically wrong with your phone or sd card. Do you have any spare ones lying around you can try?
By the way the loss of sd card happend to me once when i installed TomTom that why i asked what you installed.
Spare of what? a phone or another sd card? I did try another sd card, but the phone didn't read it. FLashing the ROM seems complicated, I checked your guide and it looks like a whole bunch of things I got to do.
hmm well you can always try a hard reset, do you have all of your contacts synced or backed up?
is your phone connected to your computer now? in other threads people report they lose there sd card when its plugged into the computer
I just notice that my mac is reading and showing the SD card from the phone. I am able to see the files that are on the card and able to play the transformers movie on my iMac.
strange isn't!

Yes! you are correct, I disconnected the phone from the computer, and the sd card now shows on the phone.
Guess, problem solved.
About the flashing, you think I will be better performance from the phone?
thanks again for all your help.
good to hear im glad it worked, yeah i was totally impressed and glad i flashed to Touch X Rom Read the thread and you'll see that many agree! I'm not an expert by any means but i would do a search and see if you even can with a mac you might need to use a diff computer or use a diff guide
Cool, I will look into it ... cheers
Hey Jimmy,
Would any of those custom roms allow me to unlock the phone?

not quite sure try using the search thread tool and see if anyone else was able to accomplish this
This is from the phone. Does everything look ok to begin the ROM updates. You said that the HSPL2 is the first thing to flash. what's the next step after?
Info:
Software info from HTC HD2
- OS version : 5.2.21889 (21889.5.0.87)
- Manila version: 2.5.20121412.1
- ROM version: 2.10.531.1 (82076) WWE
- ROM date: 02/22/10
- Radio version: 2.08.50.08_2
_ Protocol version: 15.34.50.07U
i assume ur using a pc to do this
Download hspl2 ->install
Download task 29-> flash (this erases all data)
Download ROM make sure its T-Mobile US Compatible the one on my signature is ->install
To install make sure your computer is properly configured to active sync on a pc then run setup on pc and it will prompt the flash on your phone.
Once hspl2 is flashed power the phone off hold the volume down and end key and if you get the tricolor screen you did it correct.
I runned the hspl2 setup from my laptop running windows xp pro and the program gave this error:
"CRITICAL ERROR
Flow: 00000001
Error code: 00000002
Description: USB connect failed!"
Any ideas here?
I can't seem to get the NAND work properly.
Every step went well, but maybe I forgot something.
Once I flash the ROM I reboot it twice.
When I start marketplace and download apps, they disappear from the download list. They don't get downloaded at all. With another ROM I tried the download part works, but after the install the app doesn't seem to work. After a few times plugging in and out the USB I got an error about my SD-card being ReadOnly. Am I doing something wrong? I didn't manually make partitions or anything on the SD card, should I have done so?
Also I've noticed that after I put files on the SD card and unplug the phone from the PC, astro can't find the files. Really confusing
Does anyone have the same problem or know how to fix it?

First of let me tell you that I have never had this kind of problem neither I have heard about this problem. But one thing you can do is use Panasonic SD formatter (Free) to format your SD card. Do not mount your phone on the PC. In place of that remove SD card and use some kind of Card Reader to format the SD card from PC. Also keep Full Erase (ON) in the settings for formatting.
I would also recommend you to do Task29 before flashing new ROMS. After you do Task29 install radio (2.15.xxxx preferred), install MAGLDR 1.11 or 1.12(I would not install 1.13 which is released recently. Wait and watch for that version), After you perform these steps, you should install NAND ROM on your device. Also try and find the Rom which has more versions. What I mean is for newbs like us, we should try roms which have been tested by many other PROs. and also there are plenty of video tuts on how to install NAND rom. Follow them closely.
Here is a good tutorial that might help you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91mnfufny-Q&feature=player_embedded

I did exactly what you said, but I'm still having the same problem. After I installed the NAND rom I connected my phone to my pc and dragged some files on the SD. The phone didn't see any of them, so I took my SD out and formatted it. But now it's not recognizing my SD at all. I will try some other roms.
I had that problem some mounths ago. One day it was gone. i cant tell why
I have a similar problem. To work around it I remove the sd card and reset the phone with the red button under the battery cover. When it comes back up, i insert the sd card and all works normally.
Our problems arn't exactly the same but worth a go if it helps.
after a long search i found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=11003567&postcount=2118
and the fix from ehsan worked !
no problem downloaden and no problems with the SD anymore! woohoo
Hi guys,
So recently my screen stopped working and I need to get it fixed. I want to revert the phone back to its stock ROM but I can't seem to do that. I downloaded the stock rom and followed this guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wc89Gh0QpIY&feature=player_embedded
But, when I get into bootloader, in the white section of the screen it says Serial and it just stays unresponsive, it doesn't boot up like in the video. Any ideas on what's going on?
Did you rename the .nbh file to LEOIM.nbh? Also did you put thenfilenon the root(not in a folder) of your SD card? If you have done both of these then make a back up of you SD card and then reformat you SD card with a full format and not a quick format. Also the SD card method does not work well with larger SD cards so you may have to try a 2gig or 4gig SD card. Last you can use HSPL 4 to revert back to stock SPL just choose the SPL version from the drop down box when you run the installer, here is a hint the SPL's with four zeros at the end are stock SPL's.
Thanks for the reply
So, I tried reformating my 16 gb SD and still have the same problem. I then tried to do it with a 4 GB SD, same thing. So I tried it with HSPL but I can't sync the phone to my PC since it's in storage mode and with the touchscreen broken I can't adjust it to sync. I'm not taking the phone to a verified dealer so they probably won't care that it's flashed. The problem, from what I understand is that the digitizer is broken, so it shouldn't matter that the phone is flashed, right?
Thanks
You can connect it to the PC for flashing without Windows Mobile through the bootloader (3-colour screen). Just turn that on and connect it; Serial should change into USB and you are ready to flash.
About SD card method: Make sure the nbh file is named LEOIMG.nbh. The letters MUST be uppercase, else it might not work.
