I would like to brows all the HD2 directorys from my main PC.
I'm sure I was able to do this with one of my old HTC phones, and some extra program.
Anyone here who might have some more info on this?
PS: I know that I can do this directly from my HD2.

you can except /windows directory (as it tends to kill activesync)
just browse device from activesync/windows mobile device centre or through file explorer in vista/windows 7
Hmm, I can browse everything including \Windows from Vista... You just need to enable display of hiddent/system files on your PC.

I think it depends on how many files you have in there, and how reliable the hardware is, I've seen a few devices bring the connection down. Admittedly on older pcs so often that I haven't tried it lately.
EDIT: Just trying it on my Xps 1710 and it's struggling with /windows, it has loaded the directory, but it took 4 minutes!
Free and perfect.

Okay, right part of the forum this time.
I need the old WM5 (Or earlier, whatever anyone has) version of Pocket Internet Explorer because a remote control program I have for my desktop PC won't work with the new version, and alternate browsers (I've tried all I can find) don't seem to be able to launch the client program that it needs to work. So, if anyone has a copy of this or can at least tell me a way to extract it from my old pocket PC (it's in there, but a locked system file that I can't figure out how to copy) it would be enormously appreciated. If not, can someone recommend a really fast remote control server/client application for Windows XP/WM 6? I tried a VNC combo a while back and it was too slow to use for what I'd need it for (Do different VNC server apps work faster?) and I don't have XP Pro, so I don't think I can use the WM6 Remote Desktop Mobile app (As it seems to require that remote server that XP Pro has.. Can't recall the name right now) I saw the WM6 version of Internet Explorer Mobile on the forums archive, so I know it's possible to extract the IE programs I just can't figure out for the life of me how it was done. x.x Not to mention I'm not even sure if the old version of PIE will help this problem any. Seeing as how I am running out of ideas though, I have to try it. I'll update in this thread if I get any new information.
Thanks in advance,
Vena
Update -- Issue resolved! After much googleing, and tons of sites with no answer, I solved the problem myself with a good, old-fashioned directory peek. *feels stupid for not checking this first* See, there was a file in the directory of the remote control program I was using, and all I had to do was add some lines to tell it what the new internet explorer was. Once I did that, and reloaded the program a few times, it worked perfectly. So, if anyone else ever has any trouble with getting Remotely Anywhere to work on a WM6 device, just unzip the attached file and put it in the Remotely Anywhere install directory (Probably C:\Program Files\Remotely Anywhere).
anybody know of an easier way (software) to send files to a windows mobile phone instead of activesync... i've tried setting up a local ftp server through my computer and router to send files but i can't get the shadow to connect, was wondering if there was a 1 click program that utilizes the device drivers to just straight out interexchange files...
i know i can do memory card, etc, blah blah blah, but i'm wanting a software solution
Have u tried this. Your PC will see phone as another hard drive
if it works with 6.1, perfect, i'll try downloading directly to the phone and letting you know, thanks for the quick response
works like a champ, thanks korman
An easier way is to use Windows explorer, either in XP or Vista. You'll need to change your folder options in the "computer" in the view tab to show hidden files and folders.
Once you've done this, you'll see the shadow as another drive/device on your windows machine.

No PIII here anymore
Hello friends. I am waiting to buy the HD Blackstone here in Greece. I am a Mac user Mac OSX 10.5.5 (Leopard) and as i have read in the net no one has a working 100% way of synchronizing. Does anyone used a way to sync the HD successfully yet? Thank's a lot
http://www.markspace.com/
This is working fine with my HD as it has done with all my Windows Mobiles..
I can confirm it works great with missing sync under OS X
You can aswell install cab files from it.
You mean with Missing Sync for Windows Mobile? But in the supported devices there is only HTC touch. Did you try sync mate?

it works with all the windows mobile 6. it is just a standard program that run on your mac.
It will require to install a cab file on your phone.
I've tried it with HTC touch Diamond, Treo 750 & Kaiser.
Haven't tried with the touch HD as I don't have it.
Very tempted to buy it but still love my iphone 3G.
cab file? Thank you!

yup, once you connect to the software, it will push a cab file to be installed.
It is straight forward.
Thank you again mate!
sync htc with mac os x
can anybody suggest a free sync for htc mobiles with mac os x?
Thanks inadvance
Use SyncMate (Freeware) or
SyncMate Expert.
Much better than missing sync !!!
Your pocketpc connects on internet via usb or wifi as simple as activesync connection...
I agree, SyncMate is probably the best way to go.
I have only tried the free version and it takes like 3 hours to sync a couple GB worth of music so it might be worth it to pay the $10 USD for it.
Missing Sync has a couple nice features but costs $40 USD. I tried out missing sync and it messed up all of my system settings such as ringtones and notification settings, etc. It is nice though because there is an option to convert any .m4a files to a type that is readable by your phone where SyncMate doesn't have that option.
I have also tried DoubleTwist which is supposed to be nice and it is free. It completely messed up my phone though and I ended up having to format both my phone and SD card to correct it.
try syncmate
Hi!
Maybe you have heard from the great tool "dropbox" who synchronize your files at the desktop-pc, laptop and so on - easy to handle like an normal folder:
www.getdropbox.com
It also works with an browser-client when you are at a "foreign" pc.
The only problem is - it doesn´t work with the opera-browser or mobile internet explorer, maybe it depends on win mobile 6.1?
The last files you worked with are displayed, but not the folders.
Also the iphone-version of the browser-client: www.getdropbox.com/iphone
So maybe anyone knows an solution to handle that?
Thx for listening and sorry about my english ,
Epi
I'm too searching for solution for getdropbox on WM6 or maybe even some similar software for phone-to-pc file syncronization. Maybe somebody knows soft like this for Windows Mobile?
sugarsync -but the free version only works with two computers, but the same 2GB as with dropbox.
Concentrate, thanks for a tip!
It's seems like a good service!
http://www.mesh.com/ - supports wm6 as you'd expect. Great service.
Try Iris browser
Maybe it works

If I modify a Word document (that is saved in a shared Sugarsync folder) on my X1 , it does not update on the cloud or my laptop (where I also have Sugarsync installed). (Though it WILL update the name if renamed.... strange). ANyone else noticed this? ANyone found ANY program where you can sync Word documents wirelessly BOTH ways, just by saving it?
Mesh is not available for mobile devices yet, as far as I can tell.
Hi.
I bought HD yesterday and its great but there are a few things that i cant do.
Is there any way to access the phone internall memory or SD card using wifi?
Ofcorse i can do it by usb but i have wifi networks at home, work, friends house and it would be much simpler to do it this way.
I succesfully connect to wlan and internet on phone works perfectly but cant find the way to transfer the files.
I tried typing IP adress of the device (ex: "\\192.168.1.4") like i would do to access another PC shared files but it wont work.
Never worked on WM before so its rather guesing than knowing how to do something but i assume that it is much alike normal win.
I just find out that i can browse my PC shared files using internet browser on HD but rather do it other way around (browsing on my PC files from HD and/or SD card.)

as far as i know. windows mobile doesn't natively support sharing/server. so you would need to run a third party application on your phone which acts like a server. actvesync used to let you sync using wifi, but not anymore.
I use "Total Commander" it's free and will enable you to see other drives on your LAN. You can even use/view two windows on your HD to drag and drop from your LAN to the SD card.
Yes, I also use Total Commander, it also does FTP. Get it here
its not exactly what i had in mind but it works good enough and its so much better than using browser
thx guys

yes, i believe the two above posts went a little tangent-didn't address your exact concern, but they are nice work around indeed. in that case, i offer my work around as well. I used Resco Explorer with FTP plug in, so you can transfer files to and fro.
Run a server like mochaFTP on your phone.
A simpler solution is not to use wifi at all, but to use bluetooth. Bluetooth 2.0 runs at about 100 kb/sec, which is not too bad for small file transfer and it integrates well with Windows.
See here for a tutorial: http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=1028
Surur
unfortunately (or i should say fortunately?) i dont have bluetooth in my PC.
its simpler but also worse solution because it would take almost 15h to transfer a 700MB movie file with this transfer :O
I'll stay with totalcomander solution. Its simple, fast and its using wifi conection which i have access to almost everywhere i go
