Hi,
Lately i have been facing problem with audio manager in manila.
When i play a song in manila, the music is played for few seconds and then it stops. If i hit the play button again, it plays from the start and again stops in few seconds. But this problem is not happening in Windows media player.
I tried multiple memory cards and changed different ROMs. Also I have formatted the memory card withd efault allocation size and also checked the card for errors. Used the SD tune up as well. There seems to be no issue with the memory card.
Currently running Xanny's 2.0 Rom. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Amuthan
I'm getting the same thing. Tried playing some music earlier (think I have Maryone 23051) and the music stops playing after about 1.5 minutes. Pressing pause the first time does nothing then again and it starts laying from the beginning.
Can some one throw some light on this problem please?
It plays fine in Media Player so must be a problem with the new manilla or the newer 6.5 builds. I'll try another to see if there is any difference.
Also:
Tried searching but didn't find anything useful. One person said to format the card due to fragmentation but tracks that used to play fine when I first had the phone (and will be no more fragmented than they were then) now pause trying to play them
Same problem here. It started since I am using WM 6.5 (and at the same time Manilla 2.5).
I have not found any fix since.
Same problem. Checked and freshly formatted SanDisk 8gb SD card in my TD2. Mediaplayer works fine, manila player stopps playing after few seconds. In fact, it seems to be an manila problem...
It seems whenever an energy saving event occurs, the player stopps responding. if you - while playing a song - tapping the screen, checking mails, running the browser etc. the songs will play until you stop working. Perhaps it is a feature ;-)
Any usefull idea would be helpfull...
Greets!
I wouldn't say for definate that its a manila issue, as plenty of users, myself included use wm6.5 manila 2.5 roms and have not got this issue.
Leaving in the sd card in during flashing process has been known to currupt or damage the card which may be the reason for your failure.
Only solution I've heard of so far is to format your card. If you can, try backing up your card first

OK, if i remove the SD card, the player works fine using only internal memory.
BUT: the storage card is definitly not damaged (freshly formatted) and hasn't been in the device while flashing. Still works fine in a lot of other devices.
AND: as i tryed any other SD-Card here i got the same issue
AND!!! : why does the player plays every song from SD card without breaks while tapping the screen?
Any further idea? --- greetings
solution
Quite simple:
I found a folder in my music database with write protection enabled. I changed the folder and disabled write prtection and the manila audio player is working without any problems now!
Manila player needs wirite permissions to the audio folders, because manila puts a hidden coverart file in each audio folder: hTC_AM_AlbumArt.jpg
I think, in fact - this is a (small) bug in the latest 6.5 ROM build. Can't remember to this behavior in 6.1 build...
Hope it helps... Regards
Just been doing a bit of fiddling and realised TF3D doesn't like playing certain albums I have on my SD card. Tried formatting the card with different setttings copying across a couple of albums each time and had no luck. One time I only copied one album across and it played perfectly.
All the Lame encoded files seem to work fine but have some others which stop the music playing even if they are not being played themselves, but are just on the card.
The other thing I noticed when the music kept stopping was the updating spinny arrows kept appearing while the music started playing. Not doing it now I've copied over just lame encoded files and all is playing well.

Is this from Main Memory or the SD Card?
Beards
In my case it's everything alright (plays bundled songs) until I put memory card with mp3's. Then it stops playing anything and hangs every time I go to music tab.
From SD card
Hi
it's the mp3 albums I have put on my sd card
I have a folder for each album with one .jpg file for the album art
Thanks in advance
Solution
Its the SD card slowing the music tab down. You need to go through your sd card and organize it better and delete unwanted material. The Touchflo3d music tab is basically having to search through your entire sd card everytime you restart the device and open the music tab. Or you haven't opened the music tab for several hours. It's basically checking to see if you've added new music to your storage card.
I wish there was a way to manually search for new music and not have it automatically do it. maybe when some cooked roms come out they can disable the auto search function.
The thing that speed up my music tab dramatically was removing GPS map data off my storage card. Or if you have something like googlemaps or windows live search maps cacheing to your storage card turn that off and delete all those folders off your storage card.
I know this solution kind of sucks if you have something like TomTom or IGO on your storage card, but its the only way i've seen to fix it right now with no cooked roms available.
I would also like to note that the Tytn II had such an issue that was related to opening the ZIP file program. When it auto searched for zip files on your storage card it would nearly slow down to a halt if you had GPS map data or cache on your storage card, because it was searching through every map/cache file on there.
In conclusion this isn't just a Touch HD problem its a SD card processing problem that I've seen on multiple devices inclusing the the trusty Tytn II. The only solution will be is if a cooked ROM or cab file will edit the registry or software and turn off autosearch for the music tab and allow us to manually search for new songs when we need to.
utvol06 is quite correct and is the very reason why I asked earlier which area you use to store music data.
I bet you also have several applications installed that again as utvol06 mentions is using the cards processing time.
If you want total proof, copy a few songs to the Blackstone, take out the SD card and try to play those music files again...... I bet you have no problem.

Could this be avoided by using a SD card with a higher class rating? I had an 8GB class 2 card supplied with my HD but I swapped it for a class 4 which I'd been using in my Omnia. I have 3GB of music on it at the moment (about 70 albums) and have never experienced any type of freezing or slow down. In fact no problems at all.
Try installing SD TuneUp, you can get it on the following link :

Had similar problem where the Music tab would just hang searching and then find only a few files and would not want to play them. I'm running a 16gb class 2 card mostly full of music with about 4gb space left. After an unplanned hard reset the Music tab is now working like a dream. I don't think it will be the card especially if you have used it on a previous device without problem.
I did hard reset this morning and no help at all. I've got 8GB class 2 but also another 8GB class 4 and is the same. I wonder if tomtom maps and other software on card causes that Sad becuse maps takes lot of space and you can't put them to internal memory.

I've also got TomTom maps on my storage card. Have you tried a third party music player? Will that work with the SD card/s? I had Pocket Player which worked fine even though HTC Music Audio Manager didn't so in my case it was definitely Touch Flo Music that was the problem. After my hard reset I installed and used Pocket Player before attempting to try the Touch Flo music tab. May be a coincidence but every little bit may help!
Any Ideas

I'll keep thinking about what I did but one thing I remember is hard resetting without the sd card in the phone - I expect you've already tried that.
In a slightly similar vein... how do I get it to keep playing when the HD goes into sleep mode? (ie the screen goes off)
I want to use my HD instead of my iPod shuffle, but it's not good if it stops playing after 2 minutes when the screen goes off...
Thanks.
I have this problem too, and the SD TuneUp didn't work Unless I need to reinstall it for a new storage card?
I don't want to use any other media player because I want it to be in TouchFlo3D!

Hi
I'm hoping someone can help me with this problem that seems to be just my HD. Maybe it's my music, but that's what I'm here to find out.
Whilst playing a song in the music tab, after a minute or so it just stops, the play/pause button is playing yet there is no sound and the progress bar doesn't move. It will only resume again after I hit pause and then play and even then the song just begins again. This happens no matter what ROM I am using. Miri, Dutty and PhamQuang roms all do the same.
Thanks for looking, I hope you can help.
Hi,
Also facing this problems, after about 43 seconds the music just stops.
It also stops when you press the standby button.
Please help!
It's supposed to stop when you press the power button, although there is a registry tweak to prevent this from happening.
TF3D2.5 has problems playing my non-Lame encoded MP3s and also stops other mp3s playing properly.
Could using wma music help? I will test this out and get back with the results
solution works for me

Great thanks.
Yay. Glad it's working now Pain having to re-encode mp3s though.
can someone please post the registry tweak to prevent music player to stop in standby!thanks!
Hey Guys, i had the same problem.
I just used resco explorer. Selected all files in the MP3 folder and removed the readonly. It worked like a charm. Try this out and lemme know if it worked.

edit: the read only is checked clear after tapping it gets empty but then after reopen its checked clear again?!
what does this mean?
-> music still stops playing

Hello,
I too have been experiencing my 8Gb of music stopping when used with WM6.5 ROMs. Ripped using Windows media 11 (not Lame encoded).
I noticed that when starting to play an MP3, in the top left corner of the screen, next to the CD icon, was a spinning disc. When this disc stopped spinning, the music stopped playing.
My solution was switch on wifi (connected). Press Menu. Press Update Album Art. Press Current Song. The top right of the screen says Link to Gracenote. After some seconds an album cover will appear and the spinning disc will stop. I only needed to update one album and the problem stopped on all MP3s.
Nothing to lose,,,give it a try.
PS. I use a little mortscript to modify the following registry entry that allows me to turn off the screen without headphones connected.
HKLM\System\State\Hardware\Headset = 1

Mate,
I forgot to mention the other part.
Ok try the below steps.
1) Copy all MP3 files into ONE folder. You should not use multiple folders.
2) Now in resco explorer, go to MENU -> EDIT -> SELECT ALL
3) Once all MP3 songs are selected, again go to MENU -> FILE -> PROPERTIES.
4) Now disable all checkboxes like read only, archive, hidden and system files.
5) Then select DONE.
Now you should be good to go.
Note: DO NOT SELECT THE MP3 FOLDER TO MODIFY THE READ ONLY. Even if you uncheck the read only attribute for the folder, it will show as read only if you look at the properties again. Change the attribute of MP3 files and it should work.
I use a 16GB class 6 SD card and it works great for me.
I had already opened a thread to discuss the issue.
You might find more info here as well.

Sorry to hear that it dint work. I completely understand your frustration coz i was one few days back.
Did u check the attributes of the MP3 files again after removing read only?
Do you face this problem in other audio players like, WMP, S2P as well? I never faced problems in other players.
Since the previous solution dint work, lets try something else.
Remove all ur MP3s in the folder. Just add 10 MP3s first. Try the steps I had given in my previous post. now after removing the read only for the 10 MP3s, try playing them to see if it works. If it does add another 20 MP3s.
You can also try to remove the read only by connecting ur SD card to a computer.
If you still face issues, format your SD card with default allocation size. Try loading the files into one folder and remove the read only attribute for all the files.
I am no techie guy.. if you ask me how it worked for me, i am absolutely clueless.
first thanks for your help!

Ok. If it does not work even from phone memory, then something else is wrong.
Try energy rom pheonix with Sense 2.1. I think that might work..
flashed to xanny evo 1.5b and what should i say
transfered a fex album with wmp ( fast disc tranfser mode) and tried to listen - stopped after seconds.
then I put these mp3´s ( about 40 not sure) in one folder and put wifi on and updated all album arts.
after that the circle next to music went away and it works so far !
hell yeah
my joy didnot last very long - going to through my hd out of the window and get a motorola milestone just dreaming
Same issue fixed for me
Hi guys,
I had the same or similar issue with the Sense 2.5 included in my ROM.
I my case the issue was caused by the all versions of Manila 2.1 and 2.5 that created files named "AlbumArt_{937436F0-A712-496E-B610-48576D832D91}_Large.jpg" or "HTCAlbumArt.jpg" in the subfolders. I have of folder for each artist and different folders for each of their albums.
To resolve the issue I've only removed all the *.jpg file except the folder.jpg (256*256 pixels). After a soft reset, the HTC Audio Player recreated his own *.jpg named ~HTC_AlbumTitle.jpg. The only thing I don't know is if the name is linked with Sense 2.5 or Dutty's ROM.
I hope It will help someone else.
Re-encoding in LAME worked a treat for me, Thanks a bunch
I flashed this new rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=603741

I have a stock TMOUS HD2. I have just over 950 songs on my mSD card and whenever I move to the music tab on sense it takes a good 12-15 seconds to load (during which the phone is frozen). Now this is only when I have the entire library in the current playlist. Is this normal, and is there any way to shorten this slight lag? Also, I like to leave the entire library on shuffle, but sometimes, when leaving the music tab and coming back in (after another wait) the music is no longer shuffled, even though the little check box is still there. I just have to tap it twice to make it shuffled again. Not deal breakers, just inconveniences, I still love my HD2.

I have looked in the reg and have not found anything. I think it is hard coded in the manila files as I noticed the change from sense 2.1 to 2.5. If I find anything Ill let you know
there sems to be some kind of problem with music tab in this phone, at the begining it did not find any music, I had to search for a solution deleting something in Manila and reseting manila, after that it read my music files.
and yes, every time I softreset or turn off and on the phone, when I go to music tab it doesnt find enything and after half a minute it starts loading my files (and I have only loaded 500 MB yet)
When I had my Diamond 2 it was fast, music tab and everything was there with 0 delay. I got no idea what must be worng with the code in our 1 Ghz HD2 music tab.

I noticed the music thing today also. But when you update your library via windows media player, it seems to find all the music. At least, did for me. That fixed that issue, maybe music tab and windows media player are connected some way?
The lag in initial loading is caused by a lack of cache on the SD card. I found a cab that brought my load time from 30-50 seconds down to 11 seconds (I have 10.4GB of music). It should speed up everything on the SD card since all it does is enable the cache on the card.
let me know how it works for you. I've asked NRG if he would work the reg-hack into his ROM, but this should do as a work around.
Don't thank me, thank the author of the hack.
Thanks for this, if I still had my HD2 I would test it XD

This used to be a big issue for me. I have around 800 songs and well about 8GB and it would take a really long time before it would load up my songs. What I did was copy the Audio_manager.exe file from the windows folder and and pasted it in the Startup folder also in the windows folder. That helped out immensely.

I tried that and it didn't have any effect on my load time. The cab did because it enabled the data to be cached, but starting the HTC audio manager in theory will only start the audio manager on startup which gives the appearance of a faster load because the data is being loaded while the phone starts and by the time you get to music it should be done.
My theory is that every time you slide away from the audio manager it closes the app and when you reopen it (thus have to reload the playlist) you're gonna get long load times once again. I could be wrong (wouldn't be the first time) but I know the behavior on my device had nothing to do with starting the audiomanager on startup

Wingtytn, et al-
Thank you guys very much for your helpfulness. I am however getting a little tired of hearing the music, tags and the lunar cycle being blamed. While, yes, it's true that music can cause problems, that isn't the case here.
#1- If I open the music directly in Windows Media Player (on the phone) it not only loads instantly, but plays instantly and skips through songs without any hesitation. It also has no trouble keeping the shuffle setting on.
#2- This problem has occurred over the fresh installation of many ROMs. Every time I install a new ROM I delete any non-user created data on the SD Card, Hard Reset the Phone, Task29, then flash the ROM. The FIRST thing I do is check to see if these bugs still occur in the Sense Media Player, and inevitably they do.
#3- The first thing I did when I got this phone was to format the MicroSD card. It's the one that came with the phone, so I know it's not a compatibility issue.
#4- My music library is maintained and synced with my phone via Media Monkey Gold. It has been for some time and Media Monkey does a PHENOMENAL job at updating tracks' tags and checking file names.
If you still think its the music, see #1, and note that it works just fine on my laptop and the 16GB USB memory stick that I sync with to plug into the headunit in my car.
Then if you still think it's the music go ahead and post again that you think it's the music since it hasn't already been suggested and debunked (in my case) ad nauseum.
This rant has been brought to you by the letter 'V' and the number '5'

thanks for the .cab made me love the hd2 even more....
wow
i installed the cab and the average recognition time went from 40 seconds to 4! I would have never believed it. thanks for posting the cab.
side note: when I turn the phone to landscape I can never scroll through all the cd art. It stops about 20 cd's through and goes back to the begining. This has been the norm since day one. Is it just me? thanks.
I got so sick and tired of the music player taking forever to load. And no its not my music files. Do yourself a favor and don't use the default music player. I switched to Pocket Player and have not looked back. Loads all my music (about 8gigs) in about 3 -5 seconds. It also has FLAC support, built in EQ and lots of other nice little things.

i installed the cab and the average recognition time went from 40 seconds to 4! I would have never believed it. thanks for posting the cab.
side note: when I turn the phone to landscape I can never scroll through all the cd art. It stops about 20 cd's through and goes back to the begining. This has been the norm since day one. Is it just me? thanks.

Well, I've never tried that scenario. Does it have that behavior in portrait mode too? I just tried to recreate the problem but wasn't able to (it seemed to behave itself for me.

I got so sick and tired of the music player taking forever to load. And no its not my music files. Do yourself a favor and don't use the default music player. Seriously, this thread is for people who are trying to get the Sense Media Player working correctly, NOT taking suggestions about which other media player to use. Yes there are other media players out there and they're all great I'm sure, BUT I DON'T WANT TO USE THEM SO STOP SUGGESTING THEM AND POST FIXES OR WORK AROUNDS. thank you.
what about using a class 6 micro SD card, the one that came with our phones is a class 2, which is suppose to have slow read/write times. i got a 16gb class 6 card from amazon for like $50, and it is way faster then the stock one...
Aside from putting the Audiomanager shortcut in the startup folder, the cure for my music tab lag was simply 'not having every song in a single playlist'. I have 10GB of music on my SD card, and that's a lot of music to have on a single playlist, given Audiomanager annoyingly attempts to cache the entire Now Playing list including art every time you open it. Try selecting one artist/album at a time - works for me without fail.
I do really, really wish Audiomanager had the alphabet search function the contact manager has. And the ability to add albums/songs to Now Playing on the fly without creating a new playlist. Ah well, can't win 'em all - I won't sacrifice the Sense integration.

This could potentially work. However here is a few things to look out for:
- Make sure it's legit class 6. At $50 if you got it from China then it's iffy about whether it's legit.
- The bottleneck might be the hardware card reader on the phone. If the card is capable of class 6 speeds but the reader will only read at, say, class 4 speeds then you won't see the speeds you are looking for.
Can you think about doing some more accurate testing with this? Here is what I suggest. Get a stopwatch, and media monkey. Sync all of your music on the old card with media monkey. Do a hard reset on the phone (so that no cabs are installed and it has the really slow start times). Collect 5-10 sample times with the stopwatch.
When you get your new card do the same thing. Sync all of your songs using media monkey, then hard reset and collect 5-10 startup times with the stopwatch and report your data.
The problem with simply "finger counting" is that if the numbers are negligible then you could get a placebo effect so that it "seems" faster but with no hard numbers you can't really tell.
Used to work fine but over the weekend my phone started crashing whenever i went to music tab. have scince done several har resets and tryed different rom flashes. no longer crashes but wont find the music.
currently useing miri-dinik (anastacia) rom, and and sandisk 32gb class 4 card.
Sense player origonaly found the music when rom first flashed last night but after a couple of hours stoped working. Windows media player still finds it all and plays it no problem.
can anybody help.
Correction!
have just realised sense player done find them in all songs tab but will not display anything under the artist album or genres tab
Please help i have a lot of music so browsing all 25gb by song title only is hell.
I found this on the HD2 and HD Mini when moving from a 16Gb to 32Gb MicroSD card; I suspect it's a problem with not being able to read data from the card quickly enough, and will required a ROM patch/update.
Same thing here, music stops after a few seconds and music player in landscape will give me a 'no music found' error.
I can see my music in the all songs tab, but in the albums tab I see none.
I tried 3 different ROMs Artemis, energy and for now Cleanex, all with the same error.
I tried formatting the SD-card (16GB) and sync all my songs with WMP, this did the trick for about 5 minutes
Really frustrating because music player is the app I use the most.
where are y'all finding 32gb micro sd's??? (legit ones)
I'm having this exact same problem. Normaly the musicplayer would always load the songs but now it just can't organise it anymore. I can view all my songs on the all songs tab though, but I like to listen to albums, so this is not an option for me, neither a different player, because I actually liked this one till it gave me this problem.
What I found out:
- The player will work again when you perform an hard-reset, but when you're doing your first soft-reset, the musicplayer stops working and is unable to organise the songs.
- After a hard-reset, your also not supposed to take out your SD-card, because you will get the same problem again.
- The player also starts working again if you delete \Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\Audiomanger_Eng.vol, but after one single soft-reset it will stop working.
Does anybody have a solution to this problem? I also tried to format my SD-card, but it gave me the same problem. The music player always worked for me, till now. I would really appreciate help.
P.S. Sorry for any grammar or spell faults, I'm dutch.
I had the same problem and solved it by formating my SD card and copy all contens back to the SD card. After a soft reset of the Phone it could find the music and play without stopping again.
Unfortunately it didn't work for me. Any other solutions?
The only original SanDisk 32 GB mSD is CLASS 2 ! There is no CLASS 4
Maybe You got faked mSDs ?
No mine is from Kingston and it is Class 2 and it's 16 GB. Like I said it always worked till now.
Sorry for the double post, but I just really want my musicplayer working again, it's one of the main reasons I bought this phone. Does anyone have the solution for this problem?

How did you your music on the card? when I first got my hd2, I just basically copied my music folder from my pc by the typical "drag n drop" method which rendered the sense music player pretty much useless. What I did was have Itunes on my pc organize, (File/Library/Organize Library), the library and then locate this folder in the music folder, (Music/Itunes/Itunes Music/Music). Open that music folder and you will see that Itunes has filed the music by artist alphabetically. I then selected all these folders and copied them over (except for ringtones and podcasts folder) and have had no problems since.
Basically I think that since we are dealing with a phone that is a Windows based system, the more you can organize folders in a directory oriented manner, the better. Wether this will solve your problem or not, I really don't know. I read another post where a hd2 owner made a directory of alphabetical folders, A,B,C, etc, and put the artists in each folder accordingly and had similar results. Again, don't know if it will help or not.
Also, I don't use the WMP. Don't like it, never have liked it even on my pc. On the hd2 it seems shaky at best so I stay away from it. Just my personal experience.
Hi all,
I've been trying both HTC Desire and HTC HD2 just to find out which one I like most. I don't want to stay with both, so I wanna choose one and sell the other.
My plans were to play a little with TouchFLO 3D and SPB MS 3.5 in HD2 and then with Android in Desire. Each couple days I would use one of them to see which one is better for me.
At first I have started with HD2/TouchFLO 3D, using the official 1.66 PTG ROM. And then came the problem. I have a 8gb Kingston card, put 4gb of mp3 in it and try to listen in music tab, HTC Audiomanager. It starts searching for my mp3, starts loading them, loads, loads and then crashes. I have tried reformatting the card within a card reader and copying my mp3 to it, but again I got the crash.
My mp3 are all organized with embedded album art, /artist/album/music.mp3 folder structure.
Here's what I've been testing so far, with a 2gb and a 4gb card:
- 1.8gb of mp3 in a 2gb card, formatted with a card reader. Audiomanager works fine, no crashes;
- 3,7gb of mp3 in a 4gb card, formatted with a card reader. Audiomanager seems to work ok, but doesn't load many of my album art, and some are corrupted;
- 3,7gb of mp3 in a 4gb card, formatted with HD2 Format SD utility and transferred via usb cable (mass storage). Album art is ok now, but again Audiomanager crashes when loading all mp3. Also it crashes after 1 minute of music playing.
I don't know if this is a ROM bug or something like that. I have found some reports on that crashing problem, but none of them pointed a solution.
Is there a definitive solution for this??
Ooops!
Never mind, problem solved. Found the player hotfix.
