Tons of articles on it, but here is one anyways:

My question is: Since I already have the T-Mobile G1 unlocked and using it on Rogers, I wonder if they're either going to support the frequency of 3G that my phone supports, or if the Rogers G1 will have the different frequency. Hope they release more details soon so I know if I should sell this one to grab one that I can actually get 3G on :S
Any thoughts?
I wonder pow much they'll rape yu for data charges.
I used to live in Vancouver, and know what a rip-off data charges are up there.

** this says that rogers has the 1700/2100 AWS spectrum in Canada. Presumably, the Dream and Sapphire (there is no such thing as a "G1" -- this is a TMOBILE-ONLY rebranding of the Dream) launch will coincide with the enablement of this network.
Oh, you'll note how much they paid for AWS.... "In total, Rogers will pay $999,367,000."
heh heh... nearly a billion smackers, but they've got 20 MHz in all areas of the country.
no, rogers is 850/1900. so im hoping i can get it on AT&T 3G. that would be so awesome

You, I'm sorry to say, are an IDIOT.
If you would actually read the whole thread, you would see that no, Rogers also owns rights to a 20 MHz spread of the 1700/2100 AWS band as well, which they will presumably be launching with the Dream. Why pay a BILLION DOLLARS for something if you're not going to USE IT?
True
So June 2nd G1 from T-Mobile can use 3G ?!
what about fido?!
I'm waiting for $30/6GB data plan
its like... almost unlimited
nothings for sure yet...
either rogers will start running the new band that t-mobile runs, or the devices have a different radio compatible to rogers' current 3g band
update: seems like the Canadian HTC Dream will run on AT&T / Rogers 3G bands:

I want hero/g2 touch, i am a us t-mobile customer (nyc) where can i get an for how much? Should i buy from another country an will it work here? If i buy the sprint one an unlock it will i be able to use ti i dunno what to do i just want the phone somebody how to obtain it an get it working with my t-mobile account also tell me the price....PLZ AND THANK YOU
Anybody wanna help me?
djunio over at Android Community forums posted this today - might help
http://androidcommunity.com/forums/f8/us-hero-99-a-26204/
hey vonne thats cool but i never heard of them are they a wireless company? i much rather buy an unlock or do some of the things i said in the original message
you can buy unlocked phones off ebay. i sell some there. if you buy the Sprint I don't think it will work on Tmobile even if you unlock it because Sprint uses CDMA and Tmobile is GSM. If you buy an unlocked GSM phone it should work on Tmobile. I had a different unlocked GSM phone while i was in the US this summer and it worked fine.
ok csasek but im talking bout the hero/ G2 touch not any other phone i jus want that one there so many smart people that hav info on this phone an none can help me?
the only place you can get it unlocked is on ebay for about $550, and yes it will work in the US...any other specific questions
You are aware that the G2 Touch will not work with 3G in the US? If you buy one, you will be restricted to EDGE at best. As has been already stated, the Sprint Hero can never work with T-Mobile US at all.
Regards,
Dave

why doesn't the Hero work with US 3G? what frequencies/technology do ATT & Tmobile us for 3G? I thought that Tmobile was using WCDMA/ HSDPA which should be compatible and that ATT uses HSDPA too.
I honestly don't know what all these things mean so if you could provide some insight I would really appreciate it. Since I sell these on ebay I like to be able to answer these types of questions.

Yes they do, but the important thing here is that these services can be offered over several different frequencies.
The "worldwide" Hero (as opposed to the Sprint one) only supports 3G (HSPA/WCDMA) at 900Mhz and 2100Mhz.
http://www.htc.com/www/product/hero/specification.html
T-Mobile US's 3G network runs at 1700MHz, and ATT's 3G at 1900MHz. Neither of these 3G bands are supported by the radio in the GSM Hero, so you are stuck with 2G/EDGE speeds.
Regards,
Dave
Thank you very much for the explanation
im sure there is a radio update in the development section somewhere???
this would alow US users to have 3G but they would require root in order to flash the new radio
There is no radio ROM update at present which will make US 3G bands available, and there is no evidence as yet that this is a ROM and not a hardware restriction.
If I were interested in pursuing this further, I'd probably enquire in the Magic forums if it possible to flash a MyTouch 3G radio onto a European Magic to get 3G working with T-Mobile US.
Regards,
Dave
So what phone should i get? the out of staste on with chin? or the sprint one? dont care for looks cuz im ok with both jus sayin most price efficient and easier to unlock

no, T-Mo's version won't pick up 3G on AT&T's network. they use different 3G bands. AT&T - 850/1900; T-Mo - 700/2100
Look at post#26 in this thread. Maybe there is some hope that T-mo's version will work on AT&T, but I wouldn't be too optimistic. I certainly wouldn't purchase it based on this information. There's a good chance you won't get a definite answer until the phone is released and someone can post here on this forum if it works with AT&T or not. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if HTC has an agreement with AT&T to disable the radios for AT&T 3G so that folks are forced to buy the AT&T version if they want 3G. I think that is why the latest phone releases in Europe don't support American 3G bands. Earlier phones such as the Kaiser and Hermes models had quad band HSPA that would access 3G in Europe and on AT&T. But, do we know for sure at this point that AT&T is not going to carry this phone? I hear it has been announced on Telstra in Australia which uses the 850 MHz band for 3G. This will work in most areas that support 3G in AT&T's network which is 850/1900. That may be a better option for you than T-mobile's version.

Can you tell me where you read this? I've been keeping tabs on Australian blogs and forums and I have yet to have seen a blip on the radar that this has been announced. An Australian blog has even gone as far to say that Telstra has so far refused to comment on whether they have plans to release the HD2.

we'll just have to wait for some concrete evidence of this. I've heard this too, but it was nothing more than a rumor. and if I remember correctly, Telstra didn't release their version of the original Touch HD until 3 months after it was released in Europe. so we'll just have to wait
All I want to ask is why create another thread with exactly the same topic again?
Maybe mod should close this thread.
Me and seemingly hundreds of other users are waiting to see if it is possible to unlock the March 24th-released T-Mobile US HD2 and also to see if it is possible to connect to 3/3.5G networks outside the US/Canada before we purchase. Please post any experiences you have of:-
1. Unlocking the T-Mobile US version of the HD2 to use on other carriers (say how you did it and which carrier you changed to).
2. Using the T-Mobile US HD2 on a 3/3.5G network outside of North America (say which country and carrier and download speeds).
3. Flashing the T-Mobile US HD2 to different ROMs/radios.
I have contacted a carrier in Taiwan (FarEasTone) and they said that it "should" work there on the 2100Mhz band if it is unlocked but I want solid proof before I lay down the cash.
I found this old link www gsm-forum.eu/smart-phones-pdas-palm-organizers/16571-htc-unlock-free.html that has software that might've unlocked older models of HTC phones. Might be worth a try or please share if you know of any other free software that does the same thing for the T-Mobile US HD2.
Please don't bother posting if you are just asking whether it works or not.
Thanks for sharing!
Unlocking the tmobile hd2 (1024Leo)
they are calling it the 1024Leo after the fact that it has 1 gig rom. You MUST use the spl 2 to unlock it and roms specifically made for tmo hd2.
Not sure if the euro band is there but you can check phone>> settings for bands supported. Tmos rom is not bad but not for me. Cant wait to redo it.
Here is a good link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5983094#post5983094
For my knowledge, I already tried T-Mobile Touch 3G at Taiwan by Taiwan Mobile network and it is working right now. Touch 3G has same band support with TMobile US HD2. I will receive HD2 in couple days, I will try it and post the result. TMobile use 1700Mhz and 2100Mhz together for 3G but all Taiwan 3G network use 2100Mhz or 900Mhz only.
Did anyone experience??
Did anyone experience the unlocked t-mobile HD2 to work with 3g outside the US????
I hope anyone could share the experience!!

I have used my unlocked t-mobile hd2 in Latvia, Netherlands, and United Kingdom so far, and had 3G in all three countries.
I am currently using mine in the Philippines and is doing great I am getting fast speeds on Globe Telecom Network. Speed is quite good switching from 3g to H most of the time.

I was in Europe last month and got a 3G connection in France (mostly Bytel) and the UK (mostly T-Mobile). Speeds varied from about 400Kb to 1100Kb. I was using a locked phone with a T-Mobile USA SIM. I talked to a UK T-Mobile dealer and he said they were using the 2100Mhz band for 3G. Prepaid SIM cards were available everywhere. I didn't use cellular data that frequently (mostly sent pictures with WiFi) so I never bothered to get the phone unlocked.
Brazil
I Live in Brazil and my operator is " 3G BRA BrTCelular Oi "
I buy my T-Mo HD2 on april unlocked on US
Until the update to 2.13 my phone freeze many times when I connected on 3G network and next received a call
After update to 2.13 no more freeze problems
Finally!!!
Wooooooooooooohhhhhhoooooooooooo!!!
Just got the phone, and the 3g network is working perfectly like a charm!!!
Thank God!!
Awesome phone!!! I love hTC!!
So that makes Africa included with the others and especially Egypt for the TMOUS working for 3g network outside the US!!
Go ahead HD2 lovers BUY........ and ENJOY!!!
1. Unlocking the T-Mobile US version of the HD2 to use on other carriers (say how you did it)
does anyone know how to do this and have the appropriate numbers etc ???????
...you either buy an unlocking service somewhere online, or call T-Mobile customer care and request an unlock code if you are a current T-Mobile customer.
t-mobile US HD2 uses HDSPA 17/2100 bands for 3G so anywhere those bands are present, you should get 3G (unless the local carrier is blocking it for non in network phones)

Data works in England
My husband and I are in London with our unlocked TMOUS HD2 and LG Optimus T phones, and I can get 3G on Vodafone prepaid. All I had to do was dial 191 on my handset to get Vodafone customer service, and told them that I am visiting from the U.S. using an unlocked HTC HD2, and would like the APN settings for the data connection. The rep sent me a couple of text messages, one that said the set up text was also coming and what PIN to use to run the set up executable, and the other message contain the set up executable. It worked straight away, and the 3G service is pretty quick. I have looked at a YouTube video with no stutter, and launch web pages without delay. I am very pleased.
I unlocked my HTC HD2 to use it with AT&T at SuperUnlockCodes for a very cheap price and quickly.
I've tried digging around on my own to figure this out, but I haven't found a solid answer, and I really hope someone will help!
Would I be able to take an unlocked T-Mobile MyTouch 3G to Egypt with me and open up a service plan with Vodafone Egypt for local phone and 3G internet?
I hope the answer is simply yes, but here are a few more specific concerns:
1) Is there a difference between being unlocked from HTC and being unlocked from T-Mobile? Are those two separate things? (The one I am looking at says in the description that the unlock code was received and used from HTC, and I just want to make sure that it is really completely unlocked.)
2) Can I stroll into a Vodafone Egypt store with my unlocked T-Mobile MyTouch 3G and buy a plan for local Egyptian phone and 3G internet? In other words, does Vodafone Egypt require one of their official phones, with the Vodafone logo on the top, for them to treat me like a normal customer? (I am going to be in Egypt working as a teacher for the school year, and I would like to take out a contract just like a normal resident for the year if I can.)
3) Will an unlocked T-Mobile MyTouch 3G function properly on the Vodafone Egypt network? Are there any technical or software differences between the United States MyTouch 3G and the Vodafone Magic that might pose a problem for phone or 3G use?
4) Now I'm getting greedy, but here's one more question: Will any phone that is technically specified to work in Vodafone Egypt's network (proper band frequency, 3G capable) be eligible for a normal local Egyptian phone and 3G plan from Vodafone Egypt as described above? Or will it only work for phones that are specifically listed as part of Vodafone Egypt's current line-up?
Thank you in advance for your help!

1) No difference, it's either SIM locked or it isn't.
2) Yeah you should be able to get a SIM only plan which is meant for any phone. Only thing is they probably wont have the exact apn settings for the Magic (I don't think Voda sell the Magic in egypt), only generic ones but they will still work.
3) Just find out the bands the MT3G and Vodafone Egypt uses...
