Forgive me if this is the wrong forum. I currently have my gmail and exchange email accounts on my phone. I was wondering if there was a way to only receive notifications when I receive new emails in exchange but not in gmail.
Thanks

I would look into inboxtones. It will allow you to do what. It is not free but well worth it.

I have a Nexus One working fine on Orange.
I use it for my Blueyonder email account which is set up just the same as it was on my Hero.
The problem is this:
I get the email notification to say i have new emails, then i go into my emails and the emails are there. Then it starts to refresh my emails and then before my eyes there all disappear! It deletes them before i have chance to read them.
If i then go onto my pc to check my emails there are none there. So its obviously deleting them from the server.
Now i have checked double and triple checked the settings. Its definitely not set to delete from server or even delete when read.
Any help will be appreciated as i dont know what is going on and I'm losing important emails.
I take it you are using the native email client?
Maybe this is not the answer that you are looking for but I use the Gmail App instead of the native Email client. That way I get the benefit of Push without having to refresh.
If you are interested in doing the same then all you have to do is..on your PC:
Gmail > Settings > Accounts and Import > Check mail using POP3: > Add POP3 email account.
Then all blueyonder emails will be pushed to the Gmail App and you can set a label for them as well.
Yes i am. I`m just upset that it doesnt work just like the Hero did. That was spot on..
I`ll try your idea if no one comes up with a solution for me. Cheers.
I agree with Abbsta... you should to add your blueyonder account to gmail and receive all your blueyonder emails in gmail account.
it is much easier and being a google phone it works well with gmail accounts...
I did what you said and its spot on cheers..
Just an update. Spoke to HTC had no idea why it was doing but suggested i use imap instead of pop3.
It worked!
I configured my work email to work with Nexus One's stock email app. I can download emails from the server, but there's a problem.
In the case of most messages, whenever I mark them as read, they are marked as unread again whenever I update my mail account from the server.
I deleted and configured this account 3-4 times already, but it's always the case.
Any fix?
EDIT:
When I configure it for the firs time, all the emails are unread. There are the ones that I actually open and they won't revert back to being unread. However, the ones that I just marked as read (with the "Mark Read" button while they are selected) revert back to being unread
same thing.
i thought it's something wrong with the email server (i have some live.com and hotmail.com email accounts installed). no problems with the gmail accounts tho.
to solve this annoying problem (if unread then you's keep receiving notifications), i have to open every single emails to actually 'read' them.
i am looking for a better way to solve this.

This is a bit offtopic, but do you find it slow to fetch messages too? My iPod Touch downloads messages for the same account faster
I have exactly the same problem on my N1..
If anyone knows how to fix, please tell us too. thanks.
p.s. I don't think it's problem at mail server, it should be the email app problem for sure. Because I using pop3. the read/unread status is handle at email client app.

Yep. My iPod Touch downloads the mails from the same server without any issue
I mentioned this before on another thread but I use my main Gmail to poll all my POP3 accounts which are then pushed to the Gmail App labelled. I don't use the Email App at all.
I constantly hear the email alert on my phone that I have a new email, but when I go to the mail tab, I did not receive any emails at all. Any ideas what's going on here and how do I fix that?
Thanks.

Not sure if youve already tried but when that happened to me with SMS notifications I:
Turned notification off then on, then soft reset. Turned notifications off then on again, changed tone settings, and it was good to go. Not sure if it will work for email notification though. Worth a shot.
Cheers.
If you're using Exchange, and you have an Outlook open and connected to the same Exchange somewhere, occasionally the Outlook will receive something that Exchange thought was legit, but Outlook thinks is junk (the spam filters are separate), so the e-mail will go to your phone but will instantly get pulled again because Outlook will have moved it from the Inbox to Junk E-Mail.
If you're using POP3 or IMAP4 then I'm of no assistance.
I do not use my gmail account but I have the three domains and have then working in the web based gmail system. They all work I can send with the domain accounts and receive emails.
However, when it comes to the droid I can only send from gmail account which I do not use. I want to send emails from my pop accounts off my DINC in the gmail app just as I can on the website?
How can I do this??

Last I knew you couldn't send from your alternate pop3 acct. This is very sad and hope they address this. Maybe it has changed and I'm just not aware of it.
Thx for the reply. I have not seen a way from the DINC as of yet... it does from the desktop PC
I am using 2.2 froyo on my htc hd2, my question is that is there a way to have a notification shown whenever I receive an email to one of my subfolders(exchange rules moving the messages to my subfolders that I specify). What e-mail are you using GMAIL or another like HOTMAIL?
outlook exchange email
yeah outlook exchange.
If you have the hotmail set up then all e-mail that you recieve should be set-pup as a notification, this can be done in the settings section if you havnt done it already.
its not hotmail

Ah sorry, I don't know then have you got the port settings right when you set up the mail?
@norodaigh,
i guess you dont have any idea of what we are talking about, but thanks for trying....my brother get mails from exchange client, like 100-500 mails every hour and they get sorted into 50-100 different sub-folders in outlook, we just want a notification number of unread mails depicted against each subfolder
so again anyone using outlook in android, any ideas?
