Revert to old dialer - Touch Cruise 2 General

In WM2003 & 5 dialpad, it was built in that the pushing the directional button goes directly to call history (up), voicemail, speeddial numbers (down)
In WM6 dialer, this functionality is gone. Anyway to get it back?
It is faster to scroll through the call history than to scroll through the phone dialpad. It's also easier & faster to reach speed dial contacts.

Isn't there a way?
I found an old similar post but none of the mentioned ways worked for Iolite WM6.1

Any clues?

Access call list and speed dials like WM2003SE

Dont think anyone has noticed with the TyTN but HTC have re-enabled the feature to quickly access the call list and speed dial list. In the phone app click either Up or Right to access the call list; Down or Left for speed dials.
haha - good one ;-) ... first thing I noticed when I switched on the device; maybe because I came straight from the hw6515 where that's exactly how it works.
Martin
With smartskey (search for it)
in phone application by default
UP :Speed Dial
DOWN: Call History
LEFT : Messaging
RIGHT : Contacts
And if I remember right; also you can change the behaviour of the buttons
Hope this is what u r asking for
The reason i posted it was because when WM5 was first released this was one feature that was missing that was present on WM2003SE previously.
Dont use smartskey as i came from a BA not a wizard.

OOOPS
I did not notice the re-enabling thing :?
works with the wheel also.
This means one hand dialing really is possible.
Great find

what actually is accessed by wheel? recent calls or speed dial?
Does this function have an on/off setting somewhere. I know I had it before but now for some reason the d-pad won't access call list...? Not sure what happened.
I did realise since I also came directly from a blue angel. I didn't know that it works with the wheel too.
That's great!
The only thing which I find a pity is when I'm in Call Status mode just after finishing a call, then it does not work. Anybody know a way to make it work in call status mode, too?
I did not install the Extended Rom on my o² Trion and this function is not working. I really miss it though.
Does anybody now, what CAB do I have to install? Or did anybody try Smartskey on a TyTN?
Cheers

i did, works, however i'm only using SmartSKey on my Hermes for quick real-closing apps with right softkey. i don't know how accessing call history and other phone-stuff works.

Dialer skins... redial not working?

Hi all,
What am I missing here? I've used three different dialer skins (right now I'm using a version of the big-button one), and the "redial" button on the bottom right of the screen doesn't seem to work.
I'm talking about the button that (in most versions that I've seen) has the phone icon with an arrow pointing away from the phone, to the right.
When I bring up the dialer, it says "Last call: xxx-xxxx", so I'd like a way to dial that number again with one touch instead of having to go to the call history, which is what I have to do now.
Any ideas? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks.
you need to be more specific about which dialer you are using, there are many. Have you tried just hitting the "talk" hardbutton, after pulling up the dialpad. It redials the last number on the screen for me.
If it doesn't then you should try Paul Hammon's big button dialpad for mogul over at pdaphonehome.com. every stock functions are retained, including smartdial and redial.
i tried multiple skins and ran into that same issue.. literally 20 skins easily.. i tried paul's skin and all my questions were answered.. the skin works flawless and I personally love it.

I am running into the same issue with tons and tons of different skins...such as the standard iphone, retail iphone, eten, marshall, and lots of other ones..... REDIAL just DOES NOT WORK!! I am sure everyone is experiencing these issues.
have we figured out any solutions yet?
The first reply was correct -- all of these other skins are based on a non-sprint dialer, so some things don't work (like redial, but more importantly, 911!)
Use Paul Hammons Touch dialer and it'll be fine. It's just as skinnable, with the only down-side that I've seen thusfar that the contact picture is slightly smaller.
I have a dialer skin that everything works correctly, including # codes. Search for Mogul Big Button Dialer. It is an improved version of the Kaiser skin.

This is the same Paul Hammons dialer that Skatsev spoke of in the previous reply. The original thread is on pdaphonehome.com
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6800-xv6800/91652-sprint-native-big-button-dialer-theme-here.html
for those of you who want a different dialer skin other than the default one on the phone, and you don't like paul's version, there is another skin that i found on xda this morning that works perfectly on the mogul
it allows the use of the codes as well (example ##778, etc...) and doesn't mess up your emergency 911 dialing either.
I didn't create this. i just dl it this morning on my way out the door and ran it on my phone while at work today. personally, i love it.
Give it a shot.

This was discussed in numerous posts above. Please read through this thread again.

like i said, if you want ALL functions of the stock dialer (redial, 911, ##functions, Smartdial, etc., etc.), you have only two options that i know of: Paul Hammon's dialer from pdaphonehome.com or the stock dialer itself.
If you want to prove me wrong, then please do extensive testing before posting it.
If you look through the thread on pdaphonehome. com concerning Paul's dialer, you will realize within that dialer, there are other "skins" available to make it look like the Touch dialer, etc. There are also instructions on how to skin the dialer yourself to some extent. I knew nothing about skinning, and I was able to create my own skins with that dialer including using vista-type 3d icons and iphone icons. Skinning options are limited on that dialer, but they are there.

Customize dialpad, remove Video Call button?

Is there a way to customize the layout of the TC dialpad? For example, I would like to remove the Video Call button and/or resize the number keys. Can this be done?
Yes it can be done. Have a look at bepes WM6.1 ROM thread. He uses a different dial pad than the original htc ROMs do. I just dont know how, all I know it can definitely be modified, changed and skinned.
Hello, I don't know how customize the dialpad, but I have installed one similar to that schaggo says.
I find here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354380
Hello, with schaps advanced config you can change dialpad. Just disable the phone skin and after a soft reset you've got original wm6 dialskin.

...which does not support video calls.
Thanks for your answers, I'll check out the HTC Dialer.cab and Schaps advanced config.
Is there any full screen DIALPAD? maybe something without the 2 lines for the contacts but bigger buttons.
Thanks
I miss a very comfortable "silent" button available in all mobile phones which switches off the ringtone while sb is calling you. any idea how to create such an option with TC?
thanks

TF3D contacts cant dial out if no dialer skin(usTM tp2)

I posted a question in another thread and got no answers, so here it is in its own:
i've got a stock usTmo tp2. If I disable skin of phone dialer (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE / Security / Phone / Skin change the value of 'Enabled' from 1 to 0) creates problems dialing out through contacts/callHistory. Selecting the phone number in contacs/callHistory will not dial out, as if it lost the link to the dialer. searched here for TP2 tf3d dial call proglems, got nothing, even though I suspect is is something simple that I overlooked. I know a flash junkie's answer to any question is to do a hard reset, but I see this question might have a simple solution that I can't figure out.
I like the oem htc dialer, not the Tmo one, and disabling the skin in my tp1 has no problems at all. Tmo tp2 tf3d is version2.1.38165.1 Is there a way to disable the dialer skin and still be able to use contacts?
bump
... bump ...
Any solution to this problem?
I like the clean oem WM dialer (HKLM/Security/Phone/Skin change the value of 'Enabled' from 1 to 0) , but it creates problems dialing out through contacts/callHistory. Disabling TF3D brings back the ability to dial out from CallHistory/Contacts, which is what I want, but the OEM WM dialer by itself still lacks the autosearch function.
again, SEARCH did not find any useful results. is everyone with usTMO TP2 using the stock TMO dialer?
i am havin the same problems.

[Q] Missing Dialer details

Have been modifying TP2 with many registry changes etc. Running WM6.1
However, seem to have "lost" part of the standard dialer and have trolled through the forums trying to find what files and .dll are being used by the DEFAULT dialler.
The HTC dialler works fine but I do not like it, so when swapping back to the default dialer, the buttons and keys are there, but where the list of previous numbers should be is just a grey area with no entries. Selecting any area WILL bring up the call record as normal.
I must have deleted\edited\corrupted something..........but even looking through back-ups, can not find a clue!
Otherwise, any clues on JUST a plug in dialer (everything I find seems to be a full package with today and other stuff) - I like the dialler on the TYTN2 - both for size and colour and am trying to replicate this if possible.
Colours and size are good for tapping when driving as here in UK must NOT hold a phone as illegal!
ANy clues on files/which registry keys hold the colours for the HTC keypad etc. would be useful as doesn't seem to be HKLM\security\phone\skin
