I can't access the memory card for more than one thing at a time?
eg GPS mapping files and playing an mp3. Both apps work fine but one won't access it's file, music playing, memory map starts but can't open map file.
Any ideas?
Bump
Anyone had this?
Nope.
Which player are you using?
Worked for me with Mortplayer and MemoryMap.
tried straight from tf3d and windows media. I'd prefer to use tf3d but i will try something else and get back once I've restored my replacement which has just arrived after a broken "vibrator". Should have done that 1st, i suspect it's probably just manila being it's usual fussy self.
Ta
Magic! they sent a class 6 8gb card with my replacement phone (vibrate now working) and voilĂ can do more than one thing at once (not what my wife says though!). Tried other class 2 card which now works, suspect phone maybe.
Thanks for posting
EDIT: Scratch that, memorymap works fine until i use any storage card file then can't read the map files on next use. Annoying, more investigation to be done.
EDIT: I'm a div, map i was using was a merge of two maps and too big evidently. One map at a time works a treat. See you when the next dutty rom's out, me and the do are off to test it! If someone could let my wife know, i don't think she notices i'm here since my head's been buried in my HD (i tell her it's magical! She just ignores me)
before reading further, try this first. it resolved mine:
"Go to Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng, delete "AudioManager_Eng.vol and make a soft reset."
[orginal post]
I'm out of ideas.
I have a kingston 8gb micro sd "HC 4" card in my hd2
(rom 1.66.404.1 (76641) NLD).
the little wheel in the upper left corner of the music player tab keeps turning and nothing plays.
I've tried formatting my memcard, I've tried reducing the number of songs in the music folder.
I tried putting only around 20 songs in the main music folder (thinking putting the music in folder within another folder may cause the prob) but to no use.
and yes I did use the "music stability hotAIR"
complete waste of time. didnt help a thing.
Nitrogen plays my mp3s with no probs. I'm trying to get the native music player working coz I can't control nitro with my wireless headphones. controlling the volume works but not skipping beween songs.
is anybody else experiencing this? any suggestions?
I have the same problem. I get an error msg, something about AudioManager_eng i believe. please can someone help.
Go to Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng, delete "AudioManager_Eng.vol and make a soft reset.

hmh... sounds like quite a drastic measure. isnt it a good idea to cut and move it to a different location temporarliy?
in any case thats what i'll be doing and i suggest to others the same.
thanx for taking the time fighter!
You don't have to backup file. System will create a new one, after deleting.
HOLY COWS!! two months of searching, dozens of correspondence with HTCs (extreme slo-mo tec support), after banging my head against the walls and biting on my hd2, fighter comes along and says "naahh, do this, it will work" AND IT DOES!!
god danm, if i knew i'd travel to Greece to get this solution.
thanx very very much FIGHTER! how many times can I click on the thanx button?... oh, uh.. it's gone
Well I have had the Xperia Play for over a week now and there is one thing that is annoying me, as one might guess from the title.
First though, let me list all the Android phones (tablets omitted) I've had in the past year to give a bit of insight into my rant:
Xperia X10, Desire, Galaxy S, Desire HD, LYNX, LYNX 3D, Nexus S, Xperia Play.
Now, of these phones (I don't really count the X10 as I had it for 2 weeks before ditching it for the Desire), the HTC Desire has been the only one that really ticked me off. EVERY day there was a memory issue. I would test out a new app only to find that, lo and behold, the storage was filled from the other apps. It seemed like there was eternally 20MB or less free at any given time. I remember actively having to put downloads on "hold" in my mind so that when I got a new phone I could get them.
(BTW I realize that last April/May we had Android 2.1 and thus there was no option to save to Micro SD. Nonetheless, all of the other phones have been great, including the Desire HD.)
NOW we fast forward to my spending $800 on an unlocked Xperia Play. NOT happy. I have already, on three occasions, been notified of low memory on the phone. Why? Well I downloaded various games from the marketplace that are optimized for the Play, and I downloaded Adobe Air (absurdly large file size for something I don't ever recall using).
I find it quite ironic that a device designed to play GAMES has basically no on-board memory. Worse yet, IIRC many of the large games that are designed for the Play (including some that are pre-installed no less) will not migrate to SD and thus they are stuck on the phone occupying space.
Could I delete some of the applications? Sure. But the thing is, why do I have to? Why is it that my Nexus S and Desire HD, both of which I actively use, have not once experienced this problem and have MORE content on them no less. The HD still has 512MB free, and I'm even willing to overlook the NS entirely given that it ONLY has on-board memory.
Sorry, I'm just ticked off that I have this brand new phone (which I bought explicitly for games mind you, not even to use as a phone or take out of my house) and it requires micromanagement so as not to run out of space. I mean it's great that SE was nice enough to include a 16GB Micro SD, but WHY couldn't it have been built into the **** internal storage instead?!?! For crying out loud, even the PSP Go (which this is more or less a follow-up to) had 16GB on-board...
Is anyone else annoyed by this issue?
Mhh, I can see where you're coming from, but I found it to be a little bit of a non-issue, personally. I found it to be a huge issue with my Motorola Milestone, but mostly, because it's Android 2.1 and thus doesn't want to cooperate with the SD. Nowadays, you can just set the default install location on the SD with "adb shell pm setInstallLocation 2" and everything gets thrown on the SD, even programs that don't support it. And thankfully, the included Class 10 SD is very fast from what I've seen and could probably be even faster if we format it into ext4 - altho for that, we need root-access, otherwise Android still tries to mount it as a vfat.
It's unfortunate, yes, but it's not really that much of an issue to me, personally. I still have around 140MB free, and basically all apps I buy also allow me to throw them on the SD by default.

umm i'm pretty sure all the pre-installed game files are pre-loaded on the 16gb card you get. plus any large game you install, almost in all cases you download the game data files to the SD by default. so yeah.....
Actually I was concerned that my phone had some kind of malware preinstalled because of the 3 minute start up issue and thus I formatted the memory and SD card. Exactly what was on there anyway? I'm quite worried I deleted something important, though when I went to play Crash Bandicoot it said the file had to be downloaded. Was it just the games and SE's sample music and pictures?
As for the large games, Asphalt 6 (29.30MB) won't move to SD, Pixeline (18.84MB) and some others. But it's also that I have things like Swype installed, and various other things that are also taking up space.
Nowadays, you can just set the default install location on the SD with "adb shell pm setInstallLocation 2"
Sorry, how does that work? It might sound ignorant, but is that something that you can do after rooting the phone or such? It would definitely solve my problem though.
Also, on a side note, has anyone experienced the phone randomly turning off? It happened to me twice today. I don't even have a SIM inserted so it is clearly something hardware related.
And on a final note/question, I have System Panel installed on the phone, however upon restarting, the icon is nowhere on the Application icon menu. It is still installed on the phone, but the icon is gone. Is this some kind of hardware/software compatibility issue?

Just enable USB debugging, attach the phone and run the command in the Android-SDK/tools directory via a command window. As far as I know, it doesn't need to be rooted to work.
I had no problems with the phone turning off yet, but it might be related to a "random reboot" bug the Nexus S had in 2.3.2 as well. It was fixed in the 2.3.3 update.
The default Launcher is very buggy and sometimes seems to "forget" applications. For now, I'd advice you to use an alternative launcher like Launcher Pro, ADW Launcher, Go Launcher oder SPB 3D Shell.

It usually works fine, but I think it can cause issues if Widgets are installed that way.
Hey guys
I have had no problems like yours all u need to makesure thst u move the apps to sd card which is an android issue not enough int memory
My se play is brill screen res is better than iphone 4 also speed for loading webpages better than any htc especially the cam as it is sony
They have a winner here watch out apple.
I have had all the phones out there and sold them all this se play has a great gps aswell not agps which idveven better and agrest battery life
Rock on sony this shouldbe your flagship phone not the others u are producing like the arc or neo
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
well each to their own i guess. iphone has a better screen res FYI. but i also prefer the screen over iphone as 3.5" is too small. but i disagree, the only thing the Play does good is handle games that require controls. my galaxy s had a better screen, waaaay better web browsing experience, xperia play seems clunky and cumbersome imo.
but for gaming, cant beat it

Code:
adb shell pm setInstallLocation 2
adb: permission denied
Bootloader unlocked Play, latest SDK on Mac - doesn't work for me.
Thanks for that buddy
Worked for me using the windows android-sdk before I unlocked my bootloader, but didn't actually test it.
Hopefully it's just something I am doing wrong then.
Moved a lot of stuff over to SD card anyway so not critical on space (yet)

worked fine for me no permission denied errors.
1st of all, let me apologize for being a complete n00b !
I've found a couple of how to's on the net regarding installing & using the android windows SDK to set installlocation.
However, when I plug in my Play I don't actually get any prompt to install drivers. So naturally, when I try to run the command line I get a device not found error.
If anyone could spare the time to help me out here I'd probably love you forever ! ;-)
I hope new android roms will give us more memoria, because I always have 80-90 mb free, and have to use advance task killer allways to restore to 200 mb
Yes and yes to your issues.
I dont have any where as near as many apps installed as I did on the X10 but, am constantly getting the low or out of memory notification. I downloaded a couple apps yesterday and the second one wouldn't even download because there was no space. I've moved everything I can possibly move onto the SD card. Itd be great if all game files could be put on the SD card. I have quite a few games, all the Play optimized ones (well and Angry Birds ) and thats just the launch titles. In a few months time, I'll have had to uninstall games, even if I'm not finished with them, to make room for new games. I've had to uninstall some apps, which I downloaded to try and as I say, I've moved everything I can to the SD card, next step will be to remove games. It's a shame that my favourite, Asphalt 6, is the one that takes up the most room, almost 30MB . Never too bothered about root on my X10 but, desperately want it on here to remove the unwanted crap which is taking up needed space.
Also, I've also had the phone switch off several times. A few times it's been off when I've gone to it, other times it's powered off when I'm using it and is nothing to do with a low battery.
This worked great for me! I have all the Gameloft games installed and a crap load of other games on my phone and i still have 170mb free. You need to install both Sony Ericsson PC Companion and Update Service before ADB detects the phone.
OK to start things off this is going to be a long list of questions/issues and various impressions, some opinionated and some fact. I've had apple phones for years and appreciate both, I changed because my iphone couldn't do some things my note 3 can do such as open up 200+ MB pdfs with relative ease, but then again the samsung struggles to do simple things the iphone did fresh out of the box. This is not meant to be a discussion of which is better but it would help to know what I'm comparing it to and how I think simple things should work. I use a PC just FYI.
1.) Data Transfer of large files from various desktops to the Note 3 either through internal memory or external sd card.
My first issue is that I cannot move large files from my internal memory to my sd card. The sd card in question is a sandisk 128gb but have also tried to few others just to make sure it's not the card. If I download a large file on utorrent such as a 720p movie or better, I cannot move it from internal memory to sd card. I just won't do it. Not only will it refuse to move large files but any photos are sometime hit and miss, sometimes it moves them with no issue at all, most of the time the files stay in the parent folder and don't end up in the destination folder. I can move various files if I connect it to my desktop and drag and drop them onto the sd card but sometimes moving the file corrupts it where it cannot be played on the phone. I've also tried this with numerous computers with the same result. to move files on the phone i go to my files, select the directory and then select the file I want to move. I hold down on it to select it and then press move, it then shows the internal and external storage options, i select the sd card and the folder I want the file in and then press move here in the top right hand corner. If there is another way let me know.
Second issue is when dragging and dropping large music files directly to the sd card or internal memory from a pc. If a drag and drop a FLAC album it corrupts it about 50% of the time. I routinely go to play the album and get the message that it does not support the file type or something to that affect. I often just delete it and redo the process, most of the time that works. On MP3's, if I drag and drop an entire discography of an artist (say 8gb or so) it's corrupted 100% of the time. When I go to playback the albums they play at double speed. I have to go back and drop them one by one and sometimes (but rarely) that has the same issue.
2.) Audio Playback/Microphone/Headphone/Bluetooth Issues
Firstly, I thought that all 3.5mm headphone jacks were on a standard. I did not realize that the note did not come with headphones and that the headphones that I used with an apple device would not fully function on an android device. This seems like something so simple it shouldn't even be an issue. All of the headphones, earbuds, etc I have that have inline controls do not adjust the volume or skip tracks on my android device. You name it, like a half dozen brands. It just doesn't work...
When trying to use talk to text for a text message either with headphones with inline mic or with a Bluetooth headset it does not use the microphone on the accessory device, it uses the internal phone mic which is an issue for me. So instead of using the mic right next to my mouth I have to hold the phone up to my mouth in loud places. I don't know any way to change this...I couldn't find it in any settings.
3.) Lockscreen (I don't know how this is supposed to work, I looked it up and I'm assuming its something I'm doing.)
I want my lockscreen to be simple but I cannot seem to get the weather off of my lockscreen. It does not appear unless I swipe down and there it is. How do I remove it? If I open up the lockscreen editor by swiping from left to right its not there. I only have one lockscreen page so I don't know whats going on.
When I have notifications on my lock screen and click on them it puts a box around the lower part of my lock screen where you normally swipe as to say swipe here stupid to unlock. Is that the case or am I missing something else? It seems as though if my phone doesn't have a security lock on it and I press on my notification it should just open it. Or is it intentionally non-intuitive for some other reason?
4.) GLITCHES!!!!!!!! Various other issues
Routinely my music apps gets stuck on a page. Say if I'm listening to an album and try to back it up to my list of albums it just loads the same page over and over again. I have to hit my homebutton and open up the music app again from the icon and sometimes that causes it to crash. It does this on the stock Samsung music player and on play music. Normally my phone plays music 24/7 so it may be just how much I use it for that purpose.
Apps crash on a regular basis, at least a few times a day. I'd say I have an app crash maybe 3-5 times a day on average. Some more than others. Because of all the glitches I did a factory reset weeks ago to see if there was another issue. I've also tried uninstalling and re-installing all the apps that normally crash but that hasn't seemed to help. I don't believe apps used by millions on other android devices such as Bank of America (crashes literally every time I use it) or Pandora could be the problem.
Google integration is sketchy at best, It routinely doesn't delete e-mails off the google server when I delete them off my phone. It's really hit and miss. Sometimes it works, sometimes it will load the same e-mails dozens of times even though I've deleted it daily. The google+ photo backup is hit and miss and even updates over cellular even though its set to only update over wifi when plugged in. All of the sync settings seem appropriate for what I want it just doesn't work.
Text scaling under most situations is completely absurd. I've got 5.7" of screen and have to re-scale practically everything that loads so I can read it. This is especially and issue when reading forums which I'm on frequently. Is there a way to change this? If there isn't there definitely should be! Not a glitch but an issue.
All social media apps that load from a page (a wall, forum, feed, whetever) always reload when I click on something and go back forcing me to start over from the beginning. I've only had this issue on this phone, my previous iphones just take me back to where I was. Is there a way to change this annoying problem?
5.) The Photo Gallery
It just doesn't work. I don't know any other way to put it, its the second biggest failure on the phone. i wouldn't trust it with important anything! It routinely just looses photos, online account's don't update at all, s health photo that I've deleted dozens of times keeps showing up in my photos, all my album covers end up in my gallery and I have to manually go back and delete them all, photos end up corrupted and not able to view them whether on sd card or on phone, it goes on and on. Is there another application I can use? Can I make another app my default gallery app? Some online photos like picassa/google+ don't load correctly, it'll show the preview photo and when clicked on it'll show a completely different photo from that album. I would just delete it but can't delete online account photos from my phone gallery app and when I delete them online it doesn't update it on my gallery.
6.) Voicemail
I recieved a voicemail the first 10 minutes I had my phone and clicked on it in my notifications and it called my voicemail. I was confused at first, was i holding a 700 dollar phone or 90's Nokia? Seriously? And on top of that it didn't come with ATT visual voicemail out of the box, I had to download it. WTF! No I don't need voicemail on a phone I need 20 other google apps instead...seriously? On top of that att visual voicemail app is crap. I routinely miss voicemails because it not reliable enough to show all my voicemails in my notifications. Is that how all android devices are? I may be a little spoiled by the voicemail being on a tab in my phone app but it seems as though if there is an att specific model this should work better than it does...
7.) Text messaging
I don't use the stock mesaging app because it wouldn't reliably send a photo...that is all. I use textra now and it works better but still isn't what I would consider to be reliable...
8.) General Gripes about the phone app
The buttons are so large it looks like its designed for the seeing impaired.
Color scheme looks like I'm 4 and trying to push blocks into the appropriate holes...
I can't figure out how to change the color scheme on it, can you change it?
I hate the cartoonish figures for people that don't have photos.
Okay, it generally looks childish or like it was designed by Mattel. I need something far more professional looking.
On a positive note, speech and handwriting recognition is second to none, S Pen apps and S pen integration in general is very refined. It's extremely fast with very little lag in all situations. There are lots of positives so I'm not downing the phone at all but it just needs to fit my needs better. That's not everything but a good start. Thanks for your time and patience.
And to sum it all up, I think you should go back to i... :sly:

First - ur post is too big to even read.
You are in xda and there is ton of information here. If you search , u will realize that most of the issues have solution...
When moving from another OS its always difficult but stay and you will love it.
Let me rephrase, it's not an android problem that I'm aware of: is my phone ****ed up and in need of replacement our does every note 900a cnc2 do this stupid ****?
The new os doesn't seem to be an issue this is mainly a hardware issue unless you're saying all android phones corrupt photos straight out the box. Which I know that isn't the case.
Some of my gripes are android related but mostly sounds like a hardware issue.
Try moving the large file using "my files", 3rd party file manager cannot move file from internal to external sd (a limitation introduced in kitkat).
Also try copying your music collection using card reader.

I've only tried my files to move it on the phone, it will not move them.
I basically have to use a card reader to copy anything over a gig or so reliably. I can drag and drop it but that doesn't always work.

Really, and you did that just fine on the iPhone? :silly: That would be quite a full miracle given how (as far as I know) the iPhone never had a SD card :silly:
Read around - if you are on 4.4 there are some new security restrictions on writing to the external SD. If you are on 4.3 you are probably doing something wrong.

Of course I didn't, I.used third party software to drag and drop mp3's on internal storage of a jailbroken device. It worked 100% of the time.
But you're still missing the point. My files are being corrupted whether on the external sd card or the internal storage. There aren't any examples off this on my model phone on your forum...
As far as I know my files isn't a third party so it should have full access to read and write to my sd card per 4.4
That does explain why u torrent won't do it though.
Did u use your iTunes mp3 files? My girlfriend is also into that icrap and when she used my computer for music files I learned that you don't wanna use iTunes. Don't take this as a apple...uhm... disliker read about it if u don't believe it. Itunes messes with the music files and therefor I had to do my whole music storage from the scratch.
I think what @Dejan Sathanas was trying to say was: that if you are not ready to switch u will find strange issues that nobody else encounters and end up spamming the threats. For example: I haven't had any issue moving any files ever on any android device!
So long story short
1. Get the device u prefer (even if it is an apple)
2. Try some music files that didn't run through apple tech

I didn't use the ALAC files from my Apple device. I was under the impression they wouldn't play on here, just used mp3s and flacs. I tried to upload a pic of what the corrupt files look like on my phone but got an error that said could not complete this operation due to low memory. I'll figure it out when I get off work and upload them.
Took it to best buy\ATT, they sent me to the Samsung rep/dealer in store. He couldn't figure out what was going on, why it wouldn't move files, why some would corrupt, update Google anything, etc so they are sending me a new one.
Hi all, after doing a lot of research last week I purchased a mojo (bit late) yay!
The threads on here have been great so thank you.
I got my mojo for mainly emulators, all my emulators are working great, also through kodi rom collection browser, all games scraped after a few hours of messing about so really happy.
My mojo is rooted with the mmm just so you know.
RIGHT THE ANNOYING BIT...
I've got fpse as this is what I wanted to use for my ps1 roms, also have epsxe because I thought it was a emulator problem. Both purchased on Google play.
So when starting fpse it only finds crash 1 and crash team racing but no other games. They also work.
I have about 25 games on my sd card. They have all been downloaded and 7zipped so they are all bin and cue files, some have tracks some don't. I also have a few which have the ecm, I've tried them without the unecm and with. I don't understand why just 2 games are showing and working. One last thing I tried running bios think its spch1001 but it just says loading on fpse when I run it on epsxe it runs like a game and nothing happens. Do the games show up without a bios? Just don't understand why only 2 show up and run.
I know this has been long winded but wanted to give all the info I could.
Really appreciate anyone that can help
I used to use Fpse and always unzipped my games. So there are only the cue or bin files in the folder (s). Give that a try and let us know if it works out for you.

I download rom it's usually a 7z sometimes a rar. And extract files, then copy them to sd card
Right figured it out, it's so stupid. All this extracting files converting ecms didn't work. All I had to do was copy 7z games over to sd card then fpse unzipped them for me and played. Now all games working. Thank you for helping lucky it was a simple fix this time. Wasted at least 8 hours on this. But I'm happy now it's working :victory:
Extra note
Also even after fixing this I had trouble copy the files over to my sd card. After alot of wasted time checked the serial on the card and it was a fake. Now have bought a real 32gb fast sd card from a shop all works fine
