Yes, I got one! I've gone directly home and install my most essential programs (after syncing all contacts etc). One of these programs is TomTom7. After installing it and restarting it I get the message "BTTrayCE is not a valid application" and my bluetooth doesn't start. Has anyone experienced the same problem? Is there a solution for this?
For my work I use bluetooth and TomTom almost daily so help would be really helpfull!
Caroline
tomtom has released a special version for the tp2 that had the same problem and should have fixed the bluetooth issue. I don;t know where to find it right now, but it definately is on these forums, so do a search and you'll find the cab you are longing for.
I did an installation of TT on my SD a long time ago and since then i only made a shortcut to the startmenu after flashing a new rom and some other tricks when the devicecode changed.
Try to ask xmoo on this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=580981&page=8 <- I think he's got tomtom7 on the hd2
[sgsdebruin] How do you make a link to the startmenu? I've installed it also a long time ago on my SD...
[All] thanks for the replies. The hint of sgsddebruin did the job. I created a shortcut with the help of Total Commander. Thanks!!
Can't get bluetooth to work
If bt fails after installing tomtom , delete or rename these files and do a soft reset:
\Windows\BtSdkCE30.dll
\Windows\BtCoreIf.dll

Hi I have order my HD2 today and just sold my HD, i am looking to put tomtom on it, does anyone know if the HD1 version will work on the HD2?
Thanks Matthew.
It's not just the BT that get's killed.. The FM radio does also...
you have to delete that .dll's out of the tomtom .cab with wince cab manager.
(i believe it also can with winzip/winrar/7-zip)
and then install the cab.
be shure to do this before install

What do these dll's do?
The BtCoreIf.dll file is a custom TomTom Wizard bluetooth file.
I guess that BtSdkCE30.dll is also part of this.
TT & BT fix
Genius!
Thank you.

When I look into the setup.xml of my cab. file (TT7_916_9189.CAB)
I can see the files with install order "No Overwrite".
Does this mean they will only be installed, when there are no system files with this names allready existing in windows folder ?
I don't have deleted anything and bluetooth and radio are working great
i use resco and total commander but i can't delete \Windows\BtCoreIf.dll...help!!!

Registry Editor
Resco Registry from Resco Explorer, last version 5.13, but actually i still like PHM.
I can't even get PHM Regedit to install on my Qtek S100. Looks ok when I run the installer, but nothing is ever actually installed.
As it is still my favourite I have tried a number of times, with hardresets between, but no success.
I believe PHM registry editor is what we called here a "green" software, i.e. you can just copy and paste the exe file anywhere you like and execute it and it will work. So if you have exe file (e.g. from a former installation, a backup or another ppc), you don't need to install it.
Tried again by getting the CAB file instead of the desktop installer. Worked like a charm!
bamse,
Where you put or run the .cab file?
Thanks.
Arto
nowhere in particular : a .cab file ca normally be executed from anywhere...
Are you using cabinstall ? Because sometimes it conflicts with some .cab files. It doesn't work for instance with the icon .cab file of Agenda Fusion : when you click on this cab file, nothing happens... but it's the only .cab file that doesn't work for me...
Hope this helps...
Just copy the cab file to anywhere on your device. Then on the device, open up explorer and browse to the location of the cab. Double clicking on the cab will install it.
Just copy the cab file to anywhere on your device. Then on the device, open up explorer and browse to the location of the cab. Double clicking on the cab will install it.
After this you don't need the cab on your device anymore so if it has not been automatically removed you can just delete it.
If it has not been automatically removed it means :
- that you're using CabInstall (because miscrosoft standard installer deletes tha .cab file once installed !)
- or that nothing has been installed because of an error

hey guys...
ok ive had few problems actually experimenting too many things kicks off the rom OBVIOUSLY...i would like to do something like this....
1.my xda II hard resets it self for obvious reasons (too many experiments)
2.there are too many programs installed on my xda II which i use most of the time, few of them are cab so its easy for me to copy them to storage card and install but many others are .exe so everytime a hard reset i have to connect the xda II to the cradle and run the software from the computer....
what i would like to do is just convert or extract .cab from .exe so that everytime i dont have to go through the same thing....this means i can also copy all my softwares as backup on my xda II storage
P.S : there are only few .exe softwares that allow me to extract .cab from it by right clicking and going to winzip option or winrar .....most of them are to be run all over again.
please help
thanks alot in advance
if it's exe which you run from the pc and it using activesync to install the program in most cases all you need to do is to chage the extention from exe to zip and copy out the cab from inside the zip file
otherwise you need an cab maker program search should give you a bunch

An alternative method (slightly long winded but reliable)...
Install the product on the device then install it again, when the "Reinstall Y/N?" dialog appears on the device perform a soft reset. If installing to Storage or Storage Card, the CAB will be in the root of that device, if installing to Main Memory you will find it in \windows\appmgr\install

Yes, you have to wait for the CAB file to be copied over to teh device and then it says "Reinstall Y/N?" on the device, then you do the soft reset.
If you are going to use CAB files I would strongly recommend you grab a copy of CABInst as well, it is excellent (and free).

Hi I've searched the forums for help on installing IGO 8 and haven't come up with anything that can help me. I have installed IGO 8 on my Diamond but when I try to run it I get the error "Program application database cannot be found. Please insert original application SD card". I'm not sure what this means as I am new to using a smartphone. So if someone would be able to help me out that would be great, thank you.
Search about file SYS.TXT file located in your IGO8 directory.
Open it.
Change row:
app="%SDCARD%/iGO8"
with:
app="Internal Storage/iGO8"
Soft reset and try again.
Good look!
If you have installed igo8 through 2577/autorun, make sure you make the above mentioned changes to the sys file located in My Device/Program Files/igo8 folder.
IGo 8 works realy nice with Diamond. Good luck.
igo8 after install notting opens
Hi friends, I install igo8 through 2577/autorun, however total installation file size is 90mb but the installation process finishes in 15 seconds. Is this normal?
And after the install I push igo8 icon under programs menu but nothing happens.
Device rom is official 2.03.456.2 WWE
I need your advices.
Thanks a lot for the replies.

In my HTC HD I had the same problem. I checked the SYS.TXT you were talking bout and it was configured correctly (app="Internal Storage/iGO8").
But I still had the same problem.
I found the problem though... I had my iGo8 folder inside another folder (Internal Storage/GPS Utils/iGO8), so in order for this to work you have either to have it as a root foldr on the IS/SC or correct the path...
- Do not use the autorun! (you can delete from start the folder 2577)
- Rename the file application.dat in iGO8.exe
- Edit the SYS.TXT end modify as:
FROM
[folders]
app=”%SDCARD%/iGO8″
IN TO
[folders]
app=”Internal Storage/iGO8″
Save and copy iGO8 from PC in Internal Storage (direct in the root).

I'm doing it this way: Tap and Hold your IGo8.exe - Copy - "Paste shortcut" in "/Windows/Startmenu/Programs"
Ive done this but now it says Program application cannot be found. Please insert original SD card.
Well I sorted that out and now the application opens and then shows the start up screen then closes and when I try to open it again it goes The application failed to start last time. do you want to factory reset defaults.
Any ideas?

They are probably cooked in which means they cannot be deleted. I can however make a cab for you that would replace them with fake empty files.... All I would need is the names of the dlls.

or you could use total commander to change the names of the dlls to something else by doing this windows wont be able to call on them

Sorry for posting this but I have followed threads relating to this problem but they don't tell you how to do it.
I have had a problem with installing Tom Tom ....basically it screwed my Bluetooth.
The fix for this is to Rename/delete BtSdkCE30.dll although mine is showing
BtSdkCE50 and delete/rename BtCoreIf.dll
Now I have managed to rename BtCoreIf.dll but i don't get any option to rename/delete BtSdkCE50.dll. Can anybody tell me how this is done
Apparently you also have to do a soft reset afterwards

That page makes most people double-take and go "uh?"
You need the ARM version (the one that's labelled "Most users will need this version!").
Windows installer or CAB installer is your preference.

To be honest, I don't know what the criteria is for this, but I've had stuff that I couldn't delete before. It was all in the Windows folder - this I know for sure. I've never had a problem overwriting files though, even though I couldn't delete them!
I'm sure there's a sensible reason for this, but to me, you shouldn't be able to overwrite a file that you can't delete in the first place!
So, in short, there are some files that you simply can't delete.
