Hello all, I am looking at picking up a Diamond 2 variant (Probably the NextG one so I can get 850 3G), but wondered if Voice Dialing is support or included with the Diamond2 anywhere?
Also how easy is it to get to and actually do a voice dial of a contact? My Touch Cruise had voice tags assigned to whatever function or contact and that was easy enough, but it also has a hardware key for voice dialing only...The Diamond2 does not have that hardware key and so I wonder how easy it is to actually access the command and utilize it without going in several menus, etc.
voice command
Hi,
I used MSVC on 6.1 , installed it on 6.5 , working well no probs.
Did it come with VC then? Or did you have to use a cooked ROM to get it, or did you buy it?
How easy is it to us VC once installed...can you assign a button to voice dialing, or is it an icon you can have on your Home screen readily accessible?
I am using only cooked ROMs and can confirm that on most of them (WM6.1 or WM6.5) Cyberon VSD is working perfect. You can either run Cyberon VSD from the left hard key or from the BT headset's button.
What is the "left hard key" exactly?

The send button which you use to answer a phone.
The retail version of Cyberon Voice Commander (not VSD, MSVC-like ) works great on Diamond 2. It supports BT button, and you can set dialing key or volume-up/volume-down keys as hardkey from its Settings.
You can download this version from Cyberon's website.
If you search this forum for "cyberon voice dialer" you'll find a cab that fits for you.

As I am using my Wizard open in horizontal position in my brodit car-holder I would like to know if it is possible to use the hardware keyboard (instead of the on-screen soft keypad) in the dialer screen using the smartdial options.
Also is there a hack that keeps the hardware keyboard light on when the device in on charge?
I don't see why not - just use the number row of keys (QWERTYUIOP - no need for the dot key) to type any numbers, and use the arrow keys (bottom-right) to select from the smart dialing list, and the enter/return key to select.
As for the backlight - SOL until somebody figures out where that's controlled, I'm afraid.
maybe I was not clear enough, I would like to use the whole slide-out keyboard.
ie. when i want to dial John i would just type j o h n (whereas on the on-screen keypad i would type 5 6 4 6)
When driving using the slide-out keyboard gives me more confidence when dialing (on my Himalaya the on-screen dialpad was bigger which made i better useable without a stylus)
I know what you mean. The phone apps doesnt support hard keyboard. Try clicking contacts and type on the hard keyboard the name in contacts. then dial from there. hope this helps.
well, you could still type 5646 - and it'll still go to 'John'
But I understand what you mean now - does seem silly. The contacts suggestion sounds good, but ideally maybe get one of those phone front-end replacements.
As for the buttons - they're fairly large here.. large enough for touching with fingertips anyway. Does your Wizard have some customization cab making the keys small, maybe? or am I underestimating the size of your fingers?
underestimating the size of your fingers!
Use Microsoft Voice Command instead
I tried the trial version of MS Voice Command v1.5 on my Cingular 8125 (aka Wizard) and it is just fabulous. No voice training needed. I tried the registry hack to use the BT headset to to take the voice command just couple of hours back. Need to check how well the 8KHz sampling of the BT works with the 16KHz sampling based algo in VC. You can really be hands-free with this s/w. Amazing!
I've been searching for a while for a re-mapper/utility that will remap the d-pad to move around the numbers while on the Phone screen. Currently the D-pad does nothing while you're in the Phone dialing or call screen. It would make the Wiz into a great one-handed device if I can get the D-pad to move around the on-screen numbers pad. The center button can emulate pressing of the on-screen numbers. This way I can use one hand to enter the phone number and not having to use use my hands or the stylus while on-the-go.
I know I can slide out the keyboard but are you able to slide the KB out with 1 hand and use the number keys? I tried and it's VERY awkward and you'll have to remember to press the dot twice to enable the numbers. I'd rather not do that in a time of emergency.
Any one has tried to make this happen? Is there an app out there which will do this? This plus smartkeys/smallmenu will make the Wiz the ultimate one-handed device.
Anyone? am I the only one with a Wiz wishing for this function? I guess people like touching the screen with their hands more than I thought...
I would really be interested in something that could achieve this. I have my K-JAM in a PDAir case and being able to simply dial numbers with the keypad would be great. Rather than scroll through the contact list or opening the cover to access the keypad.
On Himalaya the D-pad had function in the dialer to get to call history and speed dial. That would help too.

I want that too!! Like was in my Magician...
hi all,
A cool Japanese Freeware called FakeCursor does this. It doesn't tab between fields, but emulates a Dpad controlled 'mouse'.
There is a program called AEKmap that allows you to remap the keyboard.
I have attached several layouts I made for the Phone and Calculator for use with AEKmap. (2 of the layouts work in AEKmap free mode, the other 6 require $20 activation to avoid NAG screen.)
Joeman
btw on my qtek9100 the keyboard is automatically in number mode while in the phone application. I don't need to push the blue dot twice.
I'd just as soon se a remapper that brought back the WM 2003SE phone functionality (right - Call Histtoey, left - Speed dial, etc.)
It's a shame M$ took that out in WM5
*One WM5 developer*
"I got an idea. Let's make our new phones LESS functional. That'll give us a leg up on the competition."
*Everyone else there*
"BRILLIANT!!!"
Did anyone create an aek file for mapping the alfa keys of the hardware k/b to the phonepad values.
ie: pressing a, b or c generates the code that is recognized by smartdialer (and interpreted as a, b or c respectively)
This way we can use the h/w keyboard letter-keys in the smartdialer!
This is especially handy when youre using the Wizard in your car in the landscape brodit holder (on-screen 'keys' are simply too small to be used safely)
it would be very cool.
wonder if Water can extend SmartyKeys for that - http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=41060

that man is a genius!
Hi all! What a great forum.
I am using Microsoft Voice command and when I push the little button on the original headphones it only activates Voice Speed Dial. How can I change this so it uses Microsoft Voice Command instead? I have not seen any options to change this?
Go to settings, buttons. It is set to Voice Dialer, and your voice command button has been assigned to a different button.
Going into buttons you should be able to assign your 5 configurable buttons how you want, including voice dialer and voice command as you want.
If you want to use voice command on a bluetooth headset, you need to go to WIKI and view the registry edits. Universal, Hermes and the General WM5 hacks will all give you guidance.
Start here, but look around all of WIKI and it will help you.

Thanks for the reply Simon. I did a lot of searching before posting about this and done the registry hacks that I found. I also assigned the Voice Speed Dial button to MS Voice Command and deleted the shortcut files assigned to Voice Speed Dial.
Maybe this is a hardware limitation of the ORIGINAL headphones? I know that with the hacks that I did that bluetooth headsets will work, but the original wired headphones are a being a challenge!
sorry halldor
didnt read your original post correctly and have replied incorrectly.
i am unable to help cause i refuse to use wired headsets. i am totally unco with long arms and cannot handle having wires around my head across my body into my pockets to my phone where i can twist turn pull and push them they just infuriate me. not since i opened the box on any of my pda's have i touched the wired headsets
just dont work for me full stop.
at least now, its bumped to the top again where somebody else can help.

AinĀ“t there no solution for this issue (re-assignment of the wired headset button) yet?
Lumi74
I'm also looking for a solution for mapping the button on wired headset on a Tilt...anybody figure this out yet?
I stopped using MS Voice Command and use Cyberon Voice Commander instead. Cyberon works with the wired headset and is more accurate for me then MSVC when dialing.
Cheers,
Halldor
I've just bought a Jabra BT250v headset and wanted to be able to use the voice dialing commands to dial from my Trinity rather than use the buttons and the phone pad. It doesn't seem to work! Has anyone doe this? Is it possible to use the Trinity to voice dial over Bluetooth? Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks in advance for you help?
I am using a Samsung BT-headset, and also using VC over BT, no problems...
You do know that you'd have to pair the two first, not ?
Yes of course! I've even made the regidtry change but I wasn't able to find VoiceCMD.exe. SDDialer.exe is what launces my voice commander but for some reason when I press the button the the BT headset only the dialup keypad launches. I can't get it to launch the Voice dialer. HELP!!
Sorry if this is the regedit you've already tried but definitely works for me on prophet.
* Install Voice Command to the default location.
* Start registry editor
* Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand
* Modify the string marked "path" from the default \Windows\SDDialer.exe to \Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCMD.exe
* Now, when you press your BT headset connect button, MS Voice command should start and take commands through the headset.
I have but SDDIALER.EXE is the prog that fires up the Voice dialer CYBERON Voice Speed Daler it came with the phone. Still doesn't work! ANyone HELP!!!
I use it with no problem and my jabra. Just push the button on headphone. wait for the sound, and say the name.... that's it!
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway:
Change the string value called "BTAGExtModule" from "OEMAGW.dll" to "BTAGExt.dll". soft reset.
I have the BT250v too and it works okay with voice dail.
i m using this Jabra too and was able to use the Cyberon program, however sometimes the voice dial recognition seems bad..example if i mention 1, the dialing on the phone becomes 1 , 0 , 0.

This hack kind of solved the thing, but I had to rename "BTAGExtModule.dll" to "BTAGExt.dll"
I use:
Trinity P3600 with Jabra BT500v
mUn 1.25TE
Cyberon Voice Dailer
ncruz BA WM5 Voice Dailer 2
Sleuth255's A2DPFix
voice dialing with jabra
the best way is to upgrade to dopd d810 rom and in there there are plenty of voice commands including asking your pda what time is it and it would tell you
this the rom you want
RUU_Trinity_DOPODASIA_WWE_1[1].23.707.6_6275_1.35.00.11_108_Ship
I use the BT150 with no problems!
