I am soon to buy the Magician in one of it's many forms. However noe thing i have been woundering is how am i am going to achieve the in-car setup i desire. Basically I need both a carkit (conversation through car stereo speakers etc) and i also want to run GPS navigation on the Magician. First of all is this possible? What happens if i am using the GPS and i recieve a call? Also what hardware are people using to achieve this as i assume i can't use both a bluetooth carkit and a bluetooth GPS reciever?! any hlp is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Tom
Hi Tom,
I've got an iMate Jam & recently installed a Parrot BTluetooth CK3300 GPS Car Kit into my 1999 RAV4. The installation was pretty straight forward for cars with ISO connection, simply put in the mic, GPS ant & control display, plug into the car harness & HiFi & off you go. The GPS part of the kit is simply & effective, I use Tom Tom Navigator 5 & it's pretty faultless, obtaining a fix in seconds. Here's the bad part, the call quality through the kit using the Jam is AWFUL. Making and receiving calls is accompanied by a loud, high pitched warbling sound which eventually subsides, but is replaced by so much interference that the call is unworkable. I know it's not the kit because my wife's SE T68i works flawlessly. Everything else about the setup works perfectly (pairing muting, upgrading via BT etc etc). This a MAJOR problem which I have sent on to Parrot & am waiting for a reply. I understand they are pretty good at customer enquiries and expect them to come back to me pretty soon. I'll post again when I hear something. Despite all the bad press the Jam gets I think it's the best one I've owned so far (I'm on my 5th) and with the right software is excellent, but the choice of car kit is essential, until these problems are ironed out I wouldn't recommend using the PDA with a BT carkit.
Apart from the poor audio, how does it work when you are being navigated by TomTom and you receive a call? Does TomTom stop talking to you? Does the display show who's calling and then go back to tomtom display etc?
Hi there,
I have a MDA compact with now the QTEK 1.12 ROM, I have a bluetooth GPS Fortuna Clip-on and a Mr Handsfree Genius Bluetooth Carkit and I love it.
As soon as I start my car, there is a bluetooth connection to the carkit and the sound quality is excellent. You can make a call without getting the MDA out of your pocket, just push the button. The only issue is voice dialing, but that is a common problem for the MDA.
Also it makes a bluetooth connection to the GPS and Tomtom works fine. The only minus is that Tomtom doesn't use the carkit speaker, but, since the speaker of the MDA is loud enough, that is no issue. There is no supply with this bluetooth carkit, so I bought a 12 --> 5 Volt converter for the MDA.
I really love this combination. The best thing, that happened to me.

so it is possible then to have two bluetooth connections running at the same time? ie. i can use a bluetooth GPS reciever such as the one that is supplied with tom tom and also use any bluetooth carkit at the same time? and this will not cause any problems even if i am making a call and have the GPS running?! If so then i will probably just buy the Tom Tom 5 bluetooth kit and get something like a parrot CK3000? would this setup work?
thanks for everyones help,
Tom
It should work. Mine does. See above. Bluetooth GPS uses a serial profile, bluetooth headset uses a headset profile. No problem to use them both at the same time.
Andre
I used my Jam as phone, mp3 player and GPS all at the same time.
1. MP3 thru my car's aux input
2. GPS thru aux input:
hardware: Tomtom BT receiver
Software: Routis 2, TomTom USA 2004 (can open both if U use GPSGate)
3. Phone thru BT headset or aux input
To answer yr question:
Since I can use both BT GPS and BT headset together. I don't think it's a problem for both BT carkit and BT GPS to works.
Phone call always get highest prioity, all other apps (GPS software, mp3 player) will be mute until U finished yr call.
Phone call is not a problem (see above) but dialing is a big trouble since no voice calling built-in. Third partner software like intellidialer and voice commander (from MS or Cyberon) helps a bit
Ive also got my jam working fine incar. I use a socket bluetooth gps unit http://www.expansys.com/product.asp?code=119717 with tomtom 5 then I have a SE HBH-600 Akono Bluetooth Headset for calls both work together! When I have a incoming call it mutes tomtom and displays the normal caller id app on top, answering the call (via the green hardware button) results in my jam going to the phone app totally and leaving tomtom minimized in the background. As soon as the call ends tomtom jumps back to the foreground, it all works very well in my opinion. Ive also assigned the camera button to switch me back to the today screen so I can launch any app (with tomtom still running in the background) via a icon.
I found to my dismay that my Prophet (Orange M600) is not fully compatible with my BMW 3 series (E46) bluetooth car kit. It will pair successfully, yet the phone book is not always transfered however the major problem is the outgoing audio is bearly understandable. I have no problems hearing the caller they just can't hear me.
My wife has an Orange C600 smartphone running WM5 and this operates perfectly.
Does anyone have their Prophet working with a BMW Car Kit or can offer any possible resolution?
Hi,
Mine Qtek S200 works perfectly with my BMW E46 bluetooth kit. They can hear me clearly and I hear them clearly. Phone book transfer works perfectly too.
Sorry, I can only say that it works and not how to solve your problem.
Maybe you have an older bluetooth kit? Mine BMW is an 330Ci from 2006.
My incoming and outgoing audio works perfectly fine, but have the same problem with the phonebook not always being transfered.
I'm using a Orange M600 flashed with Imate Jamin from. Had a Imate SP5m previously too and had the same results.
I never tried it with the Orange Rom as I flashed is as soon as I got it.
Hi,
I'm using the XDA Neo with my BMW X5 BT Kit. Audio works fine, so does the phonebook transfer. The SMS function does not work.
andilein
Mine works fine
Mine works fine audio & contacts syncro whit a 2005 BMW E90 5 series, best than whit the Qtek S110...
I currently have the Cingular 8525 (HTC Hermes). I had to downgrade from Mobile 6 to Mobile 5 because the Bluetooth Headset profile under Mobile 6 failed to work correctly with My Nissan Sentra's Bluetooth hands free system.
Mobile 5 works perfectly while 6 does not give me any audio.
I will really appreciate it if anyone who owns a Kaiser/Tilt can share his experience with his car Built in System. I will get one in a heartbeat if this issue is confirmed to be resolved on the Kaiser.
The other cars that I know others had an issue with are from the French Citroen Peugeot and Renault
Thanks
I went the aftermarket route, installing a Sony MEX-BT5000 headunit in my car. It pairs in both handsfree & A2DP with my old Wizard & new Tytn II. BT performance is better than any headset I've ever used; no static at all.

I got the little sister of the BT5000 the MEX-BT2500 which don't have caller Id and does the same thing for 1/2 of the price.
You guys have no problems with your Kaiser and the MEX-BT5000??? I'm getting all kinds of echo, and low volume reports from people I'm talking to. I know the problem is with the Kaiser because my old RAZR works fine.
Hey Folks,
I have been reading some posts here about BT and/or BT Mute problems, but my issues seems to be a bit different, plust I didn't have it 1-2 Months ago, so I think it might be ROM/Radio upgrade related ...
Right now I am running udK Diamond R8 which works perfectly fine in general.
I got my phone hooked up via BT to my car BT handsfree (it's a Peugeot 207cc which uses some Parrot BT stuff I think). This used to work perfectly fine when I first started using the polaris in the car. I don't remember when the problem started to appear, but now, when I receive and accept an incoming call, it takes 4-5 seconds, till the polaris switches audio to handsfree, meaning after accepting the call, I can't hear the other party on my car speakers ... but I can hear sound from the regular polaris speaker, very quietly of course.
After those 4-5 seconds, everything is fine and the call is switched to the car handsfree set.
The BT connection to the car set is fine all the time ... no problems connecting or pairing.
Anyone experiencing similiar issues?
boba
Hi,
I have exactly the same problem with my C4 BT handsfree system (Parrot BT components) for some months ago. I have had a look at a lot of forum, but no answer and no solution.
Some days ago, I flash my HTC Polariswith the original WM6.1 Fre, but no improvement. I still have the same problem, 4/5 seconds before hearing the caller.
(PS : sorry for my poor english )
Bemi
Same for me, it worked fine before with the original ROM
ROM : 1.25.406.1 FRE dated 12/12/07
Radio : 1.58.21.23
Protocole : 25.65.30.04H
It happened suddenly.
I tryed a lot of modifications in the register, but no improvement.
I hoped to resolv this problem with the new original WM6.1 but no improvement.
Next week, Citroen will change the radio (it stops working many time a day).
I hope this will resolv the problem.
Bemi
I don't know excatelly the model, but it's the one with Bi-Tuner, BT, MP3 and without Navidrive.
Bemi
Same for me "and without Navidrive"
Probably the RD4

Today, I tried several other mobiles (Samsung, Sony-Ericson, Eten, Alcatel) for my problem of delay with incoming calls.
All of them work properly and, as soon as I receive and accept an incoming call, the sound switches directly to the handsfree of the car.
So, what is the problem with my HTC Cruise ?
Any idea ?
Bemi
i'm having the same problem with a Sony DR-BT20NX headset
It has been working earlier.
But now , on incoming calls , the phone ring and later i ear a little signal in the bluetooth headset.
To accept the call , i've to use phone buttons ) .
The sound comes out the phone .I've to speak in the phone.
Otherwise i can listen music with the BT headset and make outgoing calls.
Rom : M-Amine 2.FRE
Radio : 1.59.42.15
( same problems with PDA viet Rom's V33 à V35 )
I don't remember if i've the problem since i've upgraded to radio 1.59.42.15 , sorry
Never had answers on differents forums ..
BT Joined Stereo
install advance config tool v3.3
go to BT setting
verify that your option is Joined stereo and not mono
I'm using udK Diamond R8. I had a lot of problems with my Parrot ck3100 carkit. It was finally resolved by installing the Murata 1.58.21.23 radio. With the for R8 recommended radio I had bad GSM reception, BT connection failure, random BT mute, Parrot displaying the call would continue when I in fact hang up etc.
Hi,
No change with Advanced Config Tools V3.3
Bemi
I have a different BT problem.
i am currently running Touch-IT m2d Beta. but i have always had this problem, even on the original official rom.
i pair my phone with a JVC KD-BT1 CD Head Unit in the car.
i sent this to HTC support (before i started flashing new roms to my cruise):
------------
HTC Touch Cruise. rom: 1.26.710.1 wwe radio: 1.58.21.23 protocol: 25.65.30.04h. bluetooth problem. when i have BT enabled on the htc, i get in the car and it pairs with my audio system. after i make the first call it disconnects (stops pairing) after the call is finished and then after 60 seconds, it pairs up again and i can make a call again. this happens after every call. i had a nokia and i-mate jasjam before with no problems whatsoever. any patch or update available?
------------
AND THIS WAS THEIR REPLY:
-------------
Bluetooth should be universal or is marketed as universal although it is far from the truth. Certain chipsets conflict or are incompatible with others. If a device is not fully compatible it will not offer all features or possibly not connect at all. I have included the below for current tested devices.
-------------
I DON'T think this is going to be fixed any time soon, so i'll live with it!
Hi every body.
I've got the same problem.
A Cruise Rev B, and a BT car's Kit (included in a peugeot, I thing a RD4/parrot stuff)
Actually my first call is ok, and then, heads phones are cutted (sometimes after 3 or 4 seconds), but my microphone still works.
My car's BT is still paired, and sometimes indicates that I'm still phoning, even if I've cutted it on my phone.
I'm happy to find some user's in the same "panade" than me, but I hope we will find a solution...
Who knows how it works and communicate?
It has to be radio problem.
Originally I had WM 6.0 Pro on my Polaris, and BT was working flawlessly.
Then I was stupid enough to upgrade to 6.1 WWE, and now I have all kind of trouble with BT connectivity. Downgrading back to 6.0 DID NOT help!

I have exactly the same problem, based on a slightly different configuration:
My car is a Citroen (with the RD4/parrot factory built in BT)...
My phone is a HTC TyTNII.... with WM6 I couldnt even pair the phone, so I upgraded to WM6.1
Actually I had to drive to the workshop to cut the power on the car, because the parrot BT unit wouldnt stop even tho my phone was off in the meantime.
I start to believe this is not a problem caused by my phone, but a fault SW version on the parrot unit.
I have pioneer deh-p7000bt and it works flawlessly with my polaris in handsfree and a2dp mode.
to have better quality i have to turn srs wow hd off.
in advanced config i set:
-use joint stereo: no
-bitpool: very high
-max bitpool: 64
-min bitpool: 32
-sample rate: 44100
-audio getaway: enabled
Is there anyone who solved this problem yet? I have the exact same problem. When someone calls me, I cannot hear the other party through my car speakers (Citroën C5 newest model without navidrive)
I just tried http://www.jetwaremobile.com/ and this seemed to solve my problems. I had to restart my TC after installing this and removed the relationship in my car. After I made a new relationship (pairing) everything seems to work fine. If this changes I'll let you know.
I am having the same trouble, which started after upgrading to WM 6.1. Am I right in understanding that the Bluetooth is controlled by the Radio ROM and if so is it possible to downgrade just the Radio ROM? I think mine originally came with 1.58.25.14 and the upgrade replaced it with 1.59.42.15, is there a procedure to do this, and has anyone had any success.
Sorry had a search and found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=381600 which shows how to install just radio ROM, am just unclear as to whether you need to install Hard-SPL first as it is an official ROM and as to if changing radio clears all personal data from the phone.
I use to have a similar problem with the 4-5 second delay. i found that once the car is paired up with the phone, i ran bluetooth audio toggle, or other bluetooth audio program which makes all audio go through the vehicle all the time, including GPS navigation. This way when the phone rings, the ringtone can be heard through the speaker and when you answer it will be instantanious....... in theory.......... i mean, it worked for me anyway....
Then all you have to do is find some way to auto run the toggle everytime you pair your device to the vehicle...
Hello all,
Does anyone have a recommended bluetooth car kit which they have successfully used with the Magic? I'm talking about any of the "newer" generation of car kits, which sychronise your contacts on the car kit display...
Anyone?
I've got Parrot CK3000 Evolution and it does work with Magic, however, there are two problems with it:
1. Sometimes (more often than not) the phone is connecting to Parrot after 4-5 minutes, even if it is the only phone registered with the kit.
2. It is not possible to transfer phonebook to the kit, and even if I transfer it from laptop, then the kit still refuses to do voice dialing (built-in one, not on HTC).
Contact synchronysing works fine on my Peugeot 207, which has the parrot CK 4100 device.
But I have another problem, the sound isn't transfered to the car speaker despite the fact that all wheel-on-command are working....
any ideas...
I've got the same malfunctions with my CK4100 and my HTC Cruise. I'm testing with my Rhodium.
I've read about updating the BT CarKit (KC 20/KC21, sogt 4.8->5.1) to fix it...
Have you any new about that?
