Hi,
Is anyone able to provide the Hutchinson ROM upgrade from the Australian HTC WEB site (http://www.htc.com/au/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=267&act=sd&cat=all)?
Or possibly a serial number (or part thereof) which will allow the download? I purchased my Magic in Singapore & would like to flash this ROM. My serial number will not allow me to access the file!

Hi All,
Just to let you all know that O2 have the upgraded ROM (ver 1.11.170)with BB and radio 1.04 available now on their website.
See my Hmmmmm post above. I didn't spot this thread before I posted.
Hi!
I just went to O2 site but can not to see the new ROM for OIIi. Only v1.11.69
Snap. O2 IIi Downloads page.
If you know different, linkage please.
O2 have withdrawn the 170 rom as it had issues!!! (like the others don't!!) That is why it is not there any more.
on O2 site i found just 1.11.169
It was withdrawn because it was crap. Blackberry didn't work.
i just downloaded v 1.11.169 , hope this is the latest
I downloaded it one month and a half ago and i don't see the difference between v.1.11.169 and v 1.11.170 except Backberry v.2.0. If yours is good,I think you enjoy it.That's the best way.
i see the radio rom is still 1.00

just a quick question, does anyone ever risked or ever brick their PDA in trying to upgrade the PDA using the ROM ver 171 ?
is it safe to do upgrade ROM even via the website ?
I'm worried if it would broke down my PDA. :-(
here's what I've found in the website:
The latest XDA IIi System Software is available for you to download. New and changed in this version of software, v1.11.171 are:
* Updated BlackBerry Connect
* Improved Bluetooth Connectivity
Please click here to continue
This software is for Xda IIi in UK and Ireland.
and I'm living in AUstralia.
is it worth it ?

Another question - on next page O2 asks for IMEI and phone number. Somehow I can find IMEI on my device but how can I obtain valid UK O2 tel. No??? It was bought on ebay... So is there any links where i can download this latest ROM ver. without tel number? Thanks.
I downloaded the rom with my imei and a romanian cell phone number from the official site. Didn't updated it yet...
There is now a v 1.11.171 available at the O2 website.
my emei doesn't work, can anyone give me a working link to the 171?
thank you.
I wanna use Asia ROM, but my device is from UK, and my-xda asked me to enter my IMEI if I want to d/l Asia ROM. Is there anyone wanna share their IMEI, or could tell me where's to d/l the Asia ROM for my XDA IIi?
Thanks in advance
1. my-xda only accept you to download UK ROM.
2. Even when you have IMEI, you can't download ROM from seeo2.com (Asia O2). Don't waste your time cause I have tried.
3. You can search thru the forum and find your ROM, esspically in ftp server.
Enable GPS on HTC Touch HD
Yesterday I purchased the HTC HD, what a lovely elegant device to deal with, now – for the 3rd. time – I'm facing the ever lasted GPS problem in Egypt as the authorities forbid the use of mobiles with GPS enabled, so companies like Nokia and HTC introduces their GPS mobiles with the GPS Comm. Port disabled.
Any ways, with the help of the Internet and good fellows I was able to solve this problem twice before, the first time was HTC Tytn II one year ago before I sold it and the second time was my beloved N96 two months ago and also the GPS was activated using a different methodology other than the Tytn II.
Is there any way to enable this Comm. Port and start using the GPS?
N.B.
QuickGPS software is not installed, I tried to update the device ROM through HTC site but when I entered my device serial No. I got a message telling me that this software is not downloadable for this device. I faced this situation once before with the N96 and I solve it through a pleasant process, when Nokia locks the mobile for a specific carrier or disable a specific feature, it does so through the firmware. And to prevent people from just updating their phone's firmware and bypass the lock, Nokia assigns "Product Codes" to each "version" of the phone. So in our case, the N96 phone that's sold in Egypt is the same as the N96 that's sold in let's say UAE except for the product code. This way, Nokia PC suite and firmware updater knows which flavor of the phone it's handling and can apply the appropriate firmware update.
The method I followed tricks the phone into thinking that it's from another region, thus enabling the firmware updater to apply a firmware with unlocked GPS.
My phone data are as follows:
ROM version: 1.14.485.1 (24011)WWE
ROM date: 17/11/2008
Radio version: 1.09.25.14
Protocol version: 52.49a.25.26U

As long as you flash HardSPL first, you can flash any Raphael ROM to the Fuze.

Guys I bought my htc blackstone from a guy here, and I don't know from where he brought it from.
Now there is a rom upgrade, and everytime I enter the serial number into the htc website to download the rom, a messages in red comes up saying the upgrade is not suitable for your device
can anyone tell how can I know from where this guy bought the phone
thanks
i think this means it is a branded htc touch HD and not sim-free so we would of got it on contract (orange if in uk). The htc website will only give you the upgrade file for sim free HD's not branded (orange or so on).
Not so ...
I have an OEM HTC Touch HD, not branded, no contract, sim free phone, and I get exactly the same message as hykhleif.
It all depends on where the unit was originally distributed. For example, if you're unit was supplied originally in Singapore, you CANNOT get any ROM upgrades from the HTC UK site. You have to get the upgrades from the Asian site that handles Singapore.
As far as determining from where the unit was originally supplied, I don't know if the serial number will give you that information.

Hi
My current version is 1.48, I just got the phone and wanted to update to the latest 1.66. When I put my serial in on the HTC site it says:
"Sorry, this software download is not suitable for your device."
What Can I Do??? I do not want to be stuck on 1.48 and would prefer not to void my warranty..
Im on MTN South Africa if that helps at all.

If you don't want to void your warranty then there's nothing you can do. Even if you could download it, you wouldn't be able to flash your phone with it.
You could use HSPL so that you can then flash the newer ROM, but you would need to reflash the original ROM and then remove HSPL if you ever needed to send your phone for repair.
Sorry, but...
... that is the same problem with any HD2 that is "Branded" => when you turn on your phone, you see a flash screen during the boot with your phone company's logo. For these phones you need to get the ROM-Update directly from your phone company and not HTC. The companies are really slow in rolling out the Updates - if at all.
Don't feel bad - we're having the same problem here in Europe (some of us stuck with ver. 1.43).
You could use one of the custom ROMs on this site and if there is a warranty issue, just replace it with the original - provided the phone has not totally died - prior to submitting it for service.
my phone is not branded and i get the same error when trying to download new rom. Im from Slovenia
My phone has one or two apps from the Service Provider but there is no branding when starting the phone. I did not have this problem with my Nokia N95 from the same SP and it had the same aps on.
The same issue is here in he UK with Vodafone. The handset is unbranded but the serial numbers have been blocked by HTC to get updates until they've been tested by the service provider. The only way of getting the update is to use HSPL.
how many of these threads do we need? does no one use the search function on forums anymore?

Roms are region dependant AND provider dependant. a slovenian phone will be tied to teh east european rom, not the wwe rom.

Thats actually comforting news (the fact that the hd2 is unbranded on vf, not that we have to wait).... does this mean that as per their website its unlocked to other networks too, as I need to use 3 other sims in it depending on country I am in... thanks
