Anyone else getting an input error when linking contacts to Facebook? It happens every time, even after hard reset. The dialog specifically says "Input error, Connection failed."
Yes.... Had it on the Sprint version and also now on the Tilt2 and haven't found an answer to fix it.
I fixed it a while ago and forgot about this post. If you had non-alphanumeric characters in your password, it wouldn't go through. (I had an & in mine) Change it to not have those and it should work for you.

This is the second time I've had this issue so i thought i'd post it.
Basically what happened was my phone was in my pocket and it locked itself out. I had pattern lock enabled so i was getting "Too many pattern attempts. please login" No matter how i put my information in username (by itself), [email protected], [email protected] it wouldn't authenticate me. The first time it happened to me i posted the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=485903
No matter what i did i was not able to get in so i just reflashed the phone. After a reflash the authentication worked fine. At that time I was using one of JFs ROMS so i figured that may have been the issue. Recently the problem happened again. This time i was using one of Cyanogens ROMS. This time instead of flashing the phone i followed haykuro's thread to defeat pattern lock:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=485988
once i did those adb commands and rebooted the phone it asked to authenticate again but this time it worked! After it authenticates it will ask you for a new unlock pattern. And you're all set! hopefully it works for you. This is a really annoying problem and im surprised more people aren't having it.
Figured it out without hard reset!!! htc hero " too many pattern attempts"
I figured out a way to get past the screen lock "too many attempts" problem without doing a hard reset on my phone.
I called my Phone (from my Skype account so I could get to the notifications pull down. (couldn't get to home screen or setting from the call) But, I could pull down my notifications. I had a "new email" notification so I clicked on it so that my gmail would open. I then opened an email that had a URL link in it and I clicked on the link. This then opened my browser, which tried to open the link but, it couldn't because, I was still on my Skype call. This prompted the browser to give me an error message that had a Settings button. I clicked on the settings button and was able to turn on my wi-fi and connect to my home network ( I couldn't get to any other settings). At this point I pulled down my notifications again and clicked on the sign in failure notification and this time my phone was able to authenticate my gmail password, through the wi-fi connection.
FYI, I had to go to gmail and change my password as I'd forgotten it. If you don't remember your password you'll have to go through the gmail, I forgot my password/reset process.
If you have email notifications turned off, I think you can send a URL link through with a text message but, I've never done that. Maybe someone else can chime in on how to do that. It's probably pretty simple.
Lemme know if this works for you.

Sounds like one hell of a flaw in the security to me. I actually hope that this gets fixed sometime in the near future.
I had this problem on a HTC Hero I could not run sqlite3 ont he command line for permissions so the second thread did not work for me. But did not want to flash my phone, this is how I solved it.
Take out the battery, OFF button does not work.
Take out the SD card.
Plugin the USB cable to the phone and turn the phone back on.
Download the Android SDK
untar to a new directory
run
./tools/adb -d shell
To get a shell open, you do not need to be root.
You should get a $ prompt, indicating you are not root
Make a call from another phone to the blocked phone and answer the call.
Then run the following command.
$ am start -a android.settings.SETTINGS -n com.android.settings/com.android.settings.Settings
This will bring the Settings window to the front so you can then disable the screen lock, thus proving that the screen lock facility not a security feature.
Screen lock is still useful so you don't make unintentional phone calls.
easier method
You can also enter your username, and in the password field just enter the string "null"
Hey!
Can you send SMS from your HD2?
I get no error message, but my messages are not sent, I get a warning sign on the right of the message bar. Also, when I long-press it, I have "Retry send" option.
Does anyone else have the same problem? Anyone knows how to fix it?
Same for me. Any ideas?
I can receive sms but cannot reply back
Huh, got it fixed myself
How-to:
1. Settings tab
2. Menu -> More
3. Connections
4. Advanced network
5. Scroll to the last tab (SMS Service)
6. Set it to GPRS Preferred or set it to GSM (it's probably set to GPRS now). If it's already set like that by default and not working, just try to switch it
7. Reboot
I was having a similar problem..
I was on the Tube and I pressed send sms... obviously I had no signal which was fine but when I got above ground I pressed retry and absolutely nothing happened. At all.
Had to reset in the end and delete the message in the outbox and start a fresh. Bloody annoying!!
Hi,
Although this thread is ancient, i see it's still open and named "SMS problems" which is exactly what I'm suffering from.
I just purchased my new HD2 this month and ever since I got it I can't send any SMS. Whenever I try to I get a message saying "unable to send message". I have set my message center number and everything but it still didn't work. I called the HTC help center and they told me I should install the hotfix from the HTC website but when I attempted that, it said it wasn't compatible with my device????
I upgraded my official ROM from 1.66.415.3 to xxxx.4 again using the updates from HTC main site. Again I got the same message.
Up till now I'm still not sure what the problem I have is, and have no clue what the hotfix really does!
Can anyone help me out in babysteps? I'm still new to this.
PS. I did look through the other forums for something similar. It seems everyone's sending texts but to the wrong people, lol.
HELP PLEASE!
hi, can anyone help me, ive got a new message shown on the message tab, however i have no new messages. i deleted my entire inbox/sent and it still shows a new message. can anyone help me remove this?
when a new message does come through its shows 2 messages, and continues to show more and more as they come, but always left with one message on display tab.. this is the second time this has happened after a hard reset, and i hate doing a hard reset.
thanks again

run the program and then restart your phone (soft reset)

My HD2 has stopped displaying conversation history. When I get a new SMS I can see the 'preview' in the All Messages screen, but when I tap it I just get a blank history, with the senders name at the top. The phone is still functional, so it's not crashing, it's just not displaying any history.
Any ideas? If it's of any consequence I have Swype and TouchPal installed as additional keyboards - Don't see how that will affect this though.
Appreciate any help.
EDIT - I should say, restarting the device does not help matters, and if I switch to Traditional Mode I can see all the messages. I have the SMS Fix supplied by HTC installed, and can see the message count next to the name on Conversation Mode, so all the messages are still stored - just not viewable.
double check your phones date and time are set correctly, I saw this when i restored txts after a flash a week or so ago, and i'd forgotten to set the date.
Thanks for the reply mate. Time & date are set correct though, just double checked.
Does anyone think reinstalling the SMS Fix / patch might resolve it?
Yes it did - if anyone gets this same error - a reinstall of the Hotfix worked. Must have screwed up somehow.
Before I factory reset my phone, I thought I'd search this forum to see if my problem is a known issue but didn't get any results from my searches.
My problem:
When I reply to an email in my job's Exchange account using the native email client, I cannot add any additional recipients and the existing recipients disappear when I try. They also disappear even if I don't try to edit the existing recipients when I hit send. The end result is that the message won't go out because there are no recipients. When I start typing in the To: or CC: fields, the letters I type appear in the keyboard's suggested words list, but don't show up in the TO: or CC: fields.
Workaround:
I already recreated the account, tried different keyboards, but the only thing that seems to work is leveraging the drafts folder. After I hit reply or reply all the first thing I must do is save the message as a draft. Then, I can open it from the drafts folder where I can then send the message successfully with or without editing the recipients.
I don't recall this always being a problem. I've had the phone since day one. I first noticed the problem a few weeks before the KitKat update. I had hoped the KitKat update would have fixed it, but it did not.
Is anyone else experiencing this or know what could be causing it?
Thanks for your time
Same Issue!!
Have you figured it out yet? I'm going crazy trying to...

It turned out to be our Mobile Device Management solution at work. It was pushing down a security profile to my phone. Although the profile itself never changed, the vendor did updated the software around the time my problem started. We tried recreating the profile from scratch, suspecting it somehow became corrupted. This fixed my problem.
Is the MDM solution Airwatch? Does your email address have apostrophe in it? Thanks for responding!
